hacking PPCs. - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi
I dont have an XDA however I'd like to know some more infor about the ROM image formats you guys are using.
I dont run windows but a friend who does says you guys have a [windows] utility that can extract the 'kernel' image into a few directories full of DLLs / etc.
Is the source for this available? I tried the perl scripts on your site, but only with limited success.
Im trying to get linux onto my e750, and have got stuck sinc ethe e750 uses a check of some sort to decide wether or not it feels like flashing its image.
I already reverse engineered the e740 bootloader but I dont really want to have to do it AGAIN for the e750 if you guys have done the work.
any info, source, etc. would be helpful, esp. if you can help with generating images too.

lets open an audiovox 4100 section

i don’t see why we shouldn’t open a section for the 4100 here. A lot of the developments that goes on here also work on the 4100.
I have done some research on it and so far I found out that the ppc4100 use 2 file to flash the rom one is the boot and the other is the WM image just like the others do. Now both of those files are nb0 format and can be extracted with dumprom.exe which is available here. It can flashed back on the ppc4100 using a flash card to hold the image and triggering it by booting with the bootstrap.
Wish list
to edit the image file ( to change certain files)
to compile the extracted files from the rom ( to customize the rom with new programs or to custom update to a newer operating system )
what does anyone think?
u can change the press icon on the 4100 its located in a file called bobo.exe in the windows folder.
see? its almost the same there is very little change i think we need to sit down for a little while and think about how good this will do.
it will bring in more readers that would like to read about the 4100 thus u will generate more traffic that also will generate more donations
so pls i dont know how to get the athoraty's attentions here at least concider it
or comment
thanks
I am very intersted in the 4100 development as well.. I was hoping someone in here or maybe a few would be interested in sharing some knowledge and possible experience. I have done a lot of research and played around quite a bit with this over the last week using various XDA tools as well as hex editor, ect. If anyone would be interested in helping please post us here.
hey jr97ai. might as well start posting here maybe we will catch someone's attention and they will declare the ppc4100 a worthy of this site
---------------
the original rom files for the 4100 are the currunt morst recent update from at& however, both files are *.bn0 extention. as follows.
SP_E0402_230A.nb0
SP_K1112_230A.nb0
i recieved those files from audiovox a little while ago. jr97ai and myself have been working on this and have extracted the files out of the romfiles with the use of dumprom.exe. (great app by the way). i think jr97ai knows alot more about this than i do and can explain a little better.
i will attach the bootstrap rom file along with a letter that came with the cd that was sent from audiovox. i can attach the rom file as soon as i free up my bandwith
I have been playing around with mkrom and have been experiencing some problems. as it says on mkrom its not the most user friendly program. no its not, not at all, not even close. but i still try anyways lost but still trying.
if anyone can somehow point us to a direction it coul dbe verry helpful.
there might be a possibility tto use the exsisting xda WMse existing rom to use on the 4100. they seem to be similar. they do use the same operating windows after all.
well i tryed to post the rom file many times it didnt work. its uploaded in the ftp if someone can post it.
every time i try to post it shows this err.
Upload Error: Could not upload Attachment to ./files/sp_k1112_230a.rar
question to anyone who can answer.
to change the operating system from win2003 to 2003se wouldi need to change the bootstrap as well?
i am thinking i could use a nb1 and rename it to nb0 it should be the same.
if you would like to see a new section appear for the audiovox 4100 please post saying so. maybe that will gets omeone's attention.
we got 60 views and only 2 ppl have posted.
ok .. so the rom for the 4100 is in the xda ftp sire. the file is called SP_K1112_230A.rar under ppc 4100

now that we are able to flash the rom to the ppc4100 i am thinking we could change the operationg system. i am running towards the wm2003 se . i am trying to look for a basic rom nb1 format so i can try to flash it.
i am thinkiing it will work but i am worried about the phone part of the ppc.

Can HTC tools be used to make a TG01 rom?

Hello all,
To be clear I'm not asking for a ROM, I'm asking if the XDA-Dev tools can be used to produce a TG01 ROM?
I've just got one on an upgrade and I'm not sure if I like it enough yet, one of the big deals would be if I could take a dump of the factory installed ROM and then play around trying to get it how I like it. And then I geuss a follow on question would be, can the HTC roms be used on the TG01?
I know that XDA-Dev is really for HTC devices, just think this is the best source on the net to ask WinMo brains a question.
Cheers
Until there's a way to flash your modified ROM back (without bricking the device too), what's the point of playing with the ROM dump reconstruction?
To answer your question, yes, you can use some of the tools found here with TG01 ROM dump, e.g. to rebuild IMGFS. Most probably existing tools won't be capable of creating a flashable ROM image in the format TG01 expects/supports though. Especially since this format is not known yet AFAIK.

[Q] How to complement till full toolchain?

Hello everybody!
I have FW4, VS2010 Ult, XNA Game Studio 4, ExpressionBlend 4. I want to start development for WP7 and found MS' toolchain (467Mb ISO!), but it's huge! (and no separate components is available). What else do I need to develop for WP7? Guessed I need phone emulator and some libraries/SDK, but cannot find appropriate packages. Can somebody help me, please?
Also, do I need unlocked image? What exactly is locked in emulator?
Thanks in advance.
The only basics you really need Visual Studio, and this download which is the Developer Tools Package, it contains all the files, the emulators, etc
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...cf-a63a-4f97-952c-8b51b34b00ce&displaylang=en
One thing you should certainly take a look at is the Silverlight for Windows Phone Toolkit, which you can get here:
http://silverlight.codeplex.com/releases/view/55034
It's stuff that really should be in the main SDK download, but it simply isn't.

[XAP] HTC Testing Suite (Modified to bypass encrypt.txt)

Well while searching for some xap files to install on my HD2 WinPhone, I found the TestSuite.xap at test.thaiyuthcenter.com , and upon opening that I found its a testing utility for HTC WinPhone devices.
The utility consists of number of testing programs for HTC Devices,
I have recoded the main loader to bypass the filesystem check for encrypt.txt and also isHTCDevice() calls.
If anybody can think of something really good out of it, then it would be nice, as my small brain is blank nowadays without any ideas.
Tests available in this tool
"MobileRecorder",
"HTCGPSTool",
"TouchScreenTest",
"DisplayTest",
"PerformanceTest",
"AutoMTMOCall",
"NetworkTest",
"MemoryAllocater",
"WPFileServer",
"StorageAllocater",
"SQAFileExplorer",
"SMSSender"
Oh! That my Server,, 555+
Please Note this is not the same HTC Engineering Tools, but different than that, and as per the Reflector findings, most of guid's are hardcoded in the main dll's and hence some tools dont show any results (e.g NetworkTest,WPFileServer).
this TestSuite.xap from 4.06 Test rom ,, with test rom this app run fine. but not work with any other rom.
Can u share that test rom please,I dont know what I'm doing but want to do something
you can get it here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LBV8RSJQ
it's 4.03 hd7 test rom.

QNX based infotainment systems and navigation apps

Hello,
I'm actuallty working on Ford's SYNC3 system which is based on QNX 6.50. I have full access to it and would like to modify the navigation system. Actually, the system uses either Telenav (for EU and NA maps) or NNG (for rest of the world). None of those two systems is really satisfying as they are closed source and don't allow much modifications.
Therefore, I would like to build (compile) or port another system; preferably open source.
First I thought of osmand which is open source but I was told that QNX doesn't have everything needed to port it. Now I wonder if Navit : www navit-project org could be compiled for QNX.
So I would appreciate if anybody could help me / give me some info on it.
Regarding closed source apps, I saw that some car brands using QNX run Tomtom. But I can't find anything regarding an SDK for this.
Thanks in advance for all your help / hints.
Maybe it is not appropriate to ask here.. But it seems you have already give up your another thread.
I'm also on to that SYNC3 system, but I only got a update image that I dont know how to extract. Can you tell me how you extract that image?
It seems like QNX6 filesystem but I failed to mount it. I downloaded the files you posted in your another thread, and carved binaries from my own image, the files seems to fit.
Sorry I can't help you about your problem, and sorry for the interrupt, but I really need some help and find nowhere to ask. Thanks.

Hi stang18, I wish I had knowledge on the topic and could help you, but I can't.
I'm very interested if you could elaborate on how you gained full access to the SYNC 3 system.
I would much appreciate it and I believe the people from this thread would also be interested:

Thank you so much and I hope someone will be able to help you too.
Well I just noticed that the thread I added above was yours to begin with and seems you've managed to get all the access you wanted.
I'd be very happy if you could share the procedure of how you managed do it.
Thanks!
