need .NET Compact Framework cab

for pda2k. I'm gonna go flipper here pretty dang quick. Can't find it anywhere , and when I do I can't dl. What the hell is an .msi extention anyway. My unit would appear to be crippled without. You will have my admiration if you can help. why this is so difficult is beyond me.
Thanks!
I know this is not a very tech savy way but the local boston Metro website has the net compact framework cab file linked on their website...
go to www.mbta.com
then click on palm download and skip the registration, accept their terms and choose the pocket pc platform....look under the main file is a link to the net compact framework CAB file.....
that's the best I could do.....if you can't get it from there,pm me your email and if I have it at home, I will email it to ya.
find it on www.freecabs.de you can find it on the list of cabs there, please be patient in searching it, it's located there.
Thanks kazmi ! Installed . Nice.
evoluzionne - thanks as well , I'm downloading directly to my ppc and the cab link at www.freecabs.de won't work for me , downloads as text.
Does anyone know where I can find a wIfiFofUm cab? I have the installer program on pc but alas , I don't sync , so...
Cheers.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/programming/netcf/downloads/default.aspx
This is the Microsoft URL to download the file.

There seems to be no download link for a cab just PC installers. I don't sync. Happend to have it unpacked/unzipped?

Too dumb to install new user inteface on WM5 PDA ?

Hi out there,
i am totally new to this topic... i recently got an elder PDA, an iPaq hx2790 with WM5, german localization.
After being a liitle convenient in handling the device and the basics of installing additional programs to it, i had the wish to make the userinterface look a little more "nicer" or at least more usable ;-) I googled around and found some good-looking aspirants for my project. I downloaded Quick-Menu 2.8, GSMART, Ifonz2, Pointui... and i tried to install them, one after the other. The result ? Nothing.
Quick-Menu had in most menu-items only squares instead if characters (seems to be a common error in non english devices)
GSMART only added one push-button, when pressing it, nothing happened but the cross to cancel programs / leave screens in the upper right corner disappeared and the device was unbelieveable slow from now on (also reported by other users on http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-gsmart-today-plugin.html)
ifonz2 could be installed, but when i tried to start it manually (because my start screen looked like before) it *****ed around that .Net would be missing, although i installed the version adviced (3.5) in the readme by the author of the prog
Pointui could also be installed, but when i tried to start it manually it also told me that there would be missing a security certificate or some other thing would be missing.
Am i too silly or am i missing some special point ? How should these progs be started after SUCCESSFUL installation ? Do i even have to start them or shouldnt they rather start themselves ?
I am really at a point in time where i am willing to live with this odd WM5 Screen...
any help appreciated ;-).
Also suggestions for WM5-Interface replacements that will do what they propose to do .....
best regards
Freddy
You can still get PointUI to work. It's designed to be installed on pocket pc phones and looks for a couple dll files that are only found in phone edition roms. As far as I know, it looks for sms.dll and phone.dll (it might be different for german roms, I only have experience installing it on english roms). You can find these on the internet somewhere.
As for the others, I really have never tried them. Where did you download the .net installation program (exe or cab)? If you didn't, try downloading the versions directly from Microsoft's site (might take some searching). Another option to try is SPB Mobile Shell (you can get a trial version). Does this help?
thanx for your help.....
Steve,
thank you vey much for your help...
I downloaded sms.dll and phone.dll but GSmarts behaviour did nor change...
The first .net 3.5 was downloaded from softonic with a link provided from the author of iFonz... this one didnt work, it was only the small CAB-File. Then i downloaded the big one it directly from microsoft and it installed it right away on my PDA. iFonz then could be started and configured, but it didnt cope with my screen size and shutdown afer a short while (sigh!)
So i guess i finally will give the iPhone simulating apps a last chance... if this doesnt work, i keep my MW5 as it is ;-(
Thanx alot Steve
