[02 JAN][KERNEL][RMNET][SMARTASS][G-Sensor Fix] prj's kernel v0.3 - HD2 Android NAND Development

I usually use Hastarin's kernel, but since he has not released one to work with NAND yet, I made one myself.
It is meant to be used with this build:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=893620
I have not tested with any other builds.
This kernel is the newest stock, with the following improvements:
* G-Sensor fix
* 60ma drain after call fix
* Some other small optimizations
Changelog:
http://gitorious.org/~projection/linux-on-wince-htc/projections-linux_on_wince_htc
Download:
http://gm.mainframe.no/stuff/prj_kernel_v0.3.zip
Installation:
* Download the archive
* Unpack the archive
* Connect your phone with USB, make sure it's rooted and USB debugging is on
* Make sure you have the Android SDK installed
* Run "install_kernel.bat"
* If you get "'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command", add adb.exe to PATH or place the files in the same location as adb.exe and rerun "install_kernel.bat"
* Disconnect the USB cable
* Restart your phone
A boot.img is also provided, if you want to use the kernel in your ROM.
Credits:
* Most patches have been taken from Hastarin's GIT
* config was taken from cotulla's build.
* ocm for helping me with getting the right tool to make the boot image.

Reserved!!!

Please let me know how this works for you.
It should be very similar to Cotulla's stock build, except with a couple bugs fixed.

can you make bluetooth mac address changable as well? Thanks

Can I test this on other builds? such as gauner1986's HD-FI 0.3 ? I downloaded it...but at the same time I want to make sure, I should add to it or not?

I haven't tested.
Worst thing that can happen is that it won't boot past the DFT logo.
Then you can just reset your phone, hold down the power button and flash the old kernel back using magldr.
---
I get 2mA in standby with everything on right now.

just tested on nexushd2 and it booted fine.

Nexushd2 has hastarin kernel and I think it needs old camera driver.
This kernel does not really offer anything over that kernel... it should be basically the same. Unless that kernel was compiled with newest toolchain and has the 60mA after call bug.

for ext batt?

Does your kernel support extended battery? It looks like the majority of initial nand builds do NOT.

Thank you! Saw the htc-linux irc log, I just couldn't make the MIUI's wifi and bluetooth work on NAND...Will try this

Please remind me how to change the wifi Mac

I don't like Desire HD base builds, because they run _much_ slower than Desire base, so if this works with them - fine. If it doesn't, I won't lose any sleep over it

I've just tried and it works well with gauner1986's HD-FI 0.3.
I even didn't need to copy .ko file because google's contacts is synchronizing, it means that wifi is working
Thank you for the kernel,

This kernel have over clocking built in? Happy New Year!

Can anyone tell me how many ROM left when the first booted?

Additional Information:
This will wipe winmo off your phone. To get it back just flash a stock winmo rom. Also, magldr takes the place of the SECOND bootscreen (there are three stages). So you can flash a first stage bootscreen no problem (I have done this), but do NOT flash a second stage one.

[02 Mar 2011][CWM-zip][Fix] Loud outgoing volume fix

Warning: Use this fix at your own risk. Please do not pm me for support on this. I'm just sharing a fix I found already in place and used in another rom.
Credit: 100% credit goes to iamgpc http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=224&t=1957441&m=f&r=3&p=1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909096 .
Problem:
- Outgoing (dialing out) volume defaults to the maximum. The work around is to either hit the volume + or - or turn the speaker phone on and off quickly during a outgoing to force the device to pick up the preset volume
- Depending on the preset volume, incoming calls could be quiet and outgoing calls can be extremely loud depending on the htcleo.acdb file
- I had this issue on almost every rom I used
Solution - libaudio.so
- During my testing of "gpc_hd2_gingerbread_v19b" rom, I noticed this issue did not exist on this particular rom.
- Traced this back to libaudio.so after comparing various libs under /system
- Pushed libaudio.so from the gpc rom to /system/lib/ using tyween's "Typhoon" rom and noticed the max outgoing call volume issue was not longer present
Fix
- Highly recommend doing a nandroid back-up prior to applying fixes. If fix does not work and cause boot loops, you will have to restore /system .
- Extract and push the lib files from the attached zip file to /system/lib/.
or
- Try flashing the zip using CWM. I quickly slapped it together so not sure if it is working correctly
Tested to work on following rom's:
libaudio-fix-CM-Typhoon.zip for the following builds:
- tyween's "Typhoon CM7 2.4.5" rom no longer needed. Incorporated in V2.5+
- Mdeejay 2.6 CM7 build - Based on user feedback
- Pongster's HyperDroidGBX v7 - Based on user feedback
libaudio-fix-NexusHD2-Ginger-tytung.zip for the following builds:
- Tytung's "NexusHD2 Gingergread 2.3" rom
- rafpigna's RAFDROID HD 3.2.2 - SD build only
- Untested on other builds
Change log:
- Mar 02, 2011 - Added separate zip file (libaudio-fix-NexusHD2-Ginger-tytung.zip) for Tytung's ginger bread
Nice man!
Edit: Just tried on a Desire build doesn't boot for me

The high mic gain is a separate issue. There is a fix by using a different htcleo.acdb file. Try searching for the fix. I don't have the link at the moment.

Tested working on RAFDROID Desire HD 3.2.2 - SD build. This should also work on Rafdroid Desire HD 3.2 nand build.

will this work on the DFT version of MDJ CM7 2.6? If so how can I apply it?
Working with HyperDroidGBX v7! Thanks! libaudio-fix-CM-Typhoon.zip
But it feels like volume is loud at first, but than quickly became normal..is it ok?
The Phone Volumen works fine now,but the Media Volumn become too low?
Anyone have the same Problem?
PS: Typhoon_CM7_2.4.5
EDIT: The ideal solution for this problem is to fix the source code. Unfortunately, I don't have the time and proper tools to decompile the lib file libaudio.so. Any Dev's want to give this a try? I'm not sure if this lib is based on the passion(Nexus one).

Which Desire build are you using? I'm not certain if these fixes will work on the Desire build you are using. Unfortunately the libs are not consistent between builds and contain different modifications. When changing anything in /system, there is always the risk of having to restore.
If you are comfortable with basic ADB commands, you could copy the original libs as backup and push them back using ADB if you get a bootloop. But be warned, you may have to reflash causing data loss if you use a DFT based flash(no clockwork mod recovery). I should note I've intentionally caused the bootloop on various builds just to identify the libs that are different between builds and have always been able to recovery from boot loop pushing the original files back.

You could try using either adb or root explorer to manually push the file. Make sure you back up the original lib file. I would strongly recommend you try Typhoon CM7 rom. It is much more up to date in comparison to Mdeejay's rom.

Unfortuneately I don't have the time to look at the libs for this rom to figure what will/won't work. Since it uses CWM to flash the rom, you could do a nandroid backup followed by flashing zip file: libaudio-fix-NexusHD2-Ginger-tytung.zip to see if it works. Worse case, restore /system from the nandroid backup if it doesn't work.
The best solution is to rebuild libaudio.so from source to correct the issue. Unfortuneately I don't have the expertise nor time to do this. Any dev's willing to look at this?

[UNOFFICIAL][ROM][4.0.4][IMM76L] Vanilla CM9 for Kindle Fire [06/08/2012]

Hi,
On this thread I'll put my unofficial CM9 builds. They are fully vanilla, except for the volume slider in the status bar, they are exactly the same as Hashcode builds and they include the latest CM source changes. According to this, the issues and bugs are exactly the same.
Read this thread before posting: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1615355. DO NOT report any problem in the main discussion/dev thread! You can report them here and pray .

6) Reboot
Comming from any other ROM:
1) Reboot into Recovery (you must use TWRP 2.X, otherwise flashing will fail. DO NOT try to use Hashcode's CWMR since some users report serious partitioning issues when wiping data/factory reseting as of 05-12 CWMR 5.5.0.4 build)

Never seen this on any build. Could be related to an app you have installed.
You could do the following:
Install better battery stats (available on xda for free or if you want to support the dev also on the market) and check your wakelocks.
Or, you could make a nandroid backup, also backup all user apps using titanium backup, and start over. Full wipe (cache, dalvik, data and system) and flash again. The observe if this still happens.
Then restore your apps one by one and observe.

Also, I use Green Power which overrides system settings for turning off wifi. When the screen is off, Green Power turns off the wifi and has been pretty effective at saving battery for me.

I checked again and the problem was the app 'screen off and lock' after reinstall everything works fine.
But i noticed that charging was much much faster with the latest Hashcode build. Right now I'm charging with the stock kindle wall charger and it seems awfully slow....
The kernel is excatly the same, so there is no reason for .
In case anyone was wondering, I officially approve this thread.
It's been hell devving the kernel, recovery, bootloader and keeping a CM ROM up-to-date w/ the latest CM changes when I'm really just looking to test new kernel changes on a semi-currently CM build.
I will probably get the rest of the device tree good for merging w/ CM and then change my official build to something a bit different: A straight AOSP build from OmapZoom (TI) sources as a bleeding-edge build for testing new source changes on the device.
I was wondering a bit but figured Trojan38 would do the right thing by you before posting this up. Speaking of wondering, I've been wondering how you've been managing to keep all these pots cooking at the same time, with kernel, rom, bootloader and even recovery. Oh and I guess I forgot you also "tinker" a bit in the NT forum. WHEW!
You've been Super Man and I'm sure you realize that the KF community really appreciates your work. Looking forward to your future kernel development and thanks again.

It's based on CyanogenMod 9, and will continue being to be so.
In short, it's a heavily modded CyanogenMod for tablets, fully opensource

Also available via Goo Manager
Installation and bugs are also same as CyanogenMod 9
So, download the zip, transfer it to the sd, reboot into Recovery and do a backup (always preferred, but optional), then install the zip.
Install GApps afterwards if you aren't coming from a CM9 / CM9 based ROM
Also read the CM9 thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1669827 (has some useful info)
Since neither of us has the device personally, the builds are untested, and we rely on you, the users, to help us.
Report anything wrong with the ROM, and what you'ld like to see in it.
Report issues here : http://code.google.com/p/sgt7/issues/list
(Do not report device-specific issues, i.e. stuff not working on CM9, report only stuff that you saw as a setting and didn't work as expected)
Lastly, thanks to the CyanogenMod team, for all their work, and thanks to the guys who ported ics to this tab.
It's just meant to be an addition of tablet specific tweaks to CM, and we might look forward to merging this functionality into CM later on, but for now, have fun with this.

I plan on doing weekly builds on my personal pc, or when a big feature is released / something big is fixed (device specific), i'll try to release a new build
Awesome thank you! Gonna try this out now.
*EDIT*
Okay so after playing around with the rom, I have no sound. Made sure it wasn't muted or anything.
*EDIT again*
Not sure what's going on, now I lost my sound regardless of what rom I'm on. Tried wiping data and everything. Gonna keep on checking out to see what's wrong.

My bad, sorry, the vendor sync failed, re building now, will re upload shortly.
Thank you. I had to restore my original Asus nandroid backup to get my sound back. Then from there wiped and loaded the CM9 experimental version.
Just a few questions, does sound work now? Does MTP work? Thanks!

Sound should with the build i just uploaded, although it's untested as i don't have the device myself.
MTP is still broken, but that's upto xplodwild, again no device, so nothing i can do for that.

Pretty sure it's the same error as a few other tablets, seems to be an upstream bug, will try fixing, and do a clean build later today (morning here)
Sorry for the trouble.
EDIT: rebuilt and reuploaded, should boot.

Confirm, now all good, flashed over cm9 ex2. Thanks!
UPD: Question - what difference between 1) Settings-->Performance (interactive, ondemand etc) and 2) Settings --> Extended Settings --> Cpu Settings --> Cpu Mode switch.
Who's "the boss" of these two?
The CPU in extended settings is "boss" if you set it lower you will see that the CPU never reaches 1500 even if you set it in performance

Those settings (performance, interative, ondemand, conservative) rule how fast and when does the CPU goes up a notch. If you have it on performance you CPU will be at the highest stepping set by the CPU Settings (e.g. 1500mhz). Conservative takes more time to step up the CPU so you might see some lag there. The most used one is interactive, it steps up quickly when needed (for example, when running a game).
In summary, the CPU Settings say how high and low can the pad go, and the governos say how fast can the cpu power up the device to higher CPU speeds.

Yep, I understand and know it, but then I don't understand why we need options in "Extended settings" if we can use any CPU control to do that.
And ok, I got answer - CPU Control is the "boss" and has higher priority)
Great ROM! Only issue so far is that system ui crashes when flipping the combined bar in tablet tweaks, have tried every other tweak and they work like a dream though!

I take no responsibility for what this may or may not do to your device.
Do not forget to click Donate button! It makes me work harder!
Thanks Pumbaster for your work!
My device doesn't seem to go to sleep...
WakeLockDetector shows Android System --> ConnectivityService as the main issue. BetterBatteryStats shows the same...
I tried turning location services off, froze Mobile Data and Mobile Network Configuration in Titanium Backup but that doesn't help. No checking if the same wakelock appears with wifi off...
Anyone with any clue? Or the same problem?
Will check the ROM and tell you dagrim.
But first thing first, I have to install it. And I have 2 questions, to avoid screwing things.
- Does it works with TWRP instead of CWM?
- Is there a reason to have a June version of minimal gapps where a version of December exist?
Thanks to everyone in the process (romers, informers, helpers)

I used pico gapps myself and the june version is way smaller then the december version, then again I actually did try the december version as well and it seemed to work fine. So not sure, apart from the size...
About TWRP vs CWM, not sure. Guess it also should work with TWRP but haven't tried... CWM is needed for True Dual Boot, but that seems bugged anyway.
By me too. Battery drain is to much, device don't go to sleep...

Yeah, seems to be a common issue.
My device only goes to sleep when wifi is turned completely off. When I have it set to turn off when display is off I still get the wakelocks. I also have set the scanning for open wifi to off, location services turned off, etc.
For now I flashed back to the 0114 version as that one is working fine here...
If I can share some logs or anything, I'd be more then happy to!
@dagrim1: I hope, Pumbaster make new, fixed build
I Encounter Graphical Glitches with 3rd Party Browsers (Opera and UC Browser)
Chrome works fine so far. Also heavy Battery drain an 17/1
@faust93: what is with battery drain?
Did a very dirty try or replacing frameworks.jar but that didn't work...
Saw some wifiStateTracker errors and that and ConnectivityService seemed to be part of the framework, that's why I gave it a shot. 0118 still has the deespleep/wakelock issue btw...
I don't really care about dual boot. MIUI has so much limits. Once I go to CM, I don't think I'll be able to come back to MIUI...
But I'll stick to CWM, just in case...
I just tried the wpa_supplicant.bin file posted by pumbaster on 4pda and it seems to solve the deepsleep issues!
Post 351 of the custom mipad 4.4.4. rom thread there...
http://xep.8800.org/mipad/wpa_supplicant.bin
Place in system/bin and set permissions to rwxr-xr-x
@faust93: I hope you don't mind me posting this here but I saw you posted links to the same location in the topic start, if so my apologies and I will remove it asap (but I am going to sleep now, so won't be up until next morning...)
Also had some iussues with stuttering video playback, but setting 'disable hardware overlay' in developer settings fixed that for now...
Thanks for the awesome work!

Is this bin file integrated in 2015.01.18 build? What do you know about this ROM? Did you test it?

I don't believe it's integrated in 0118, think that fixes some sd stuff...
I am currently running the 0118 build (with the wpa_supplicant.bin file replaced manually) and seems to be working pretty fine. Had some video issues with a certain app (video jumping a bit, stuttering) but think I fixed that with 'disable hardware overlay' in developer options.
Without the replaced .bin I also had a problem with turning off and on wifi. It would work when booting, but if I turned it off I couldn't turn it on again... The replaced .bin also fixes that. Now checking if antutu finishes it's run...
@dagrim1: hope, Pumbaster fix this problem!
Just another small question: full wipe will delete the /data partition too right ? So the ROM zip file will be deleted too ? Or am I missing something ?
Thanks.
I tried to install with TWRP and when I reboot, I get to MIUI v6 so I guess it rebooted in the wrong system.

Unfortunately I tried to install CWM with fastboot and it failed to install... No specific error message.
I have seen a port of TWRP for MiPad. Have you tried this one, or the standard one?
How I wish I could just flash CM on my MiPad...
