Chain Reaction - another good little game - Windows Phone 7 General

Found another addicting, simplistic game to try. It's free and super easy. But it's time-passingly fun.

Hmm... What is the purpose of this "game" (except showing ads)? Funny popping sound?

One of my all-time favorites (from it's Facebook days).
The purpose is to figure out a way to create a chain reaction of explosions (hence the name ). The longer the chain, the higher the score you receive. The catch is that you only get one tap to start the reaction. If you don't explode enough of the balls on any level, you have to try again - you can't move on to the next level.

hello
whats the name of game?

Chain Reaction (it's in the thread title ).

I also found two more new games that seem to be pleasant: Enigmo, an XBOX Live title, and FlagSpotting.

You don't understood my irony (I'm already tried that game before posting).
This game requires no skills, no reaction, no intelligence, u just can play with your eyes closed. Deferentially not my game...

I'm sure there are plenty of other, challenging, games for you to be satisfied with. They all don't have to be for you.

Woohooo! Beat all 30 levels of Chain Reaction!

Thanks for the great comments!
Thanks for all the kind words regarding our newest game! It is doing better than we ever could have hoped for and really appreciate all of the support. We will try to keep the game fresh with new levels, and maybe even a couple of unexpected features. Any feedback anyone here has would be greatly appreciated.

You're doing a super excellent job with this wonderful little game. I don't know if the save feature was there prior to the last update, but I had call to use it recently and was appreciated.

The save feature has actually been there since version 1.0. It would automatically save your game any time the game "tombstoned" (Press the Windows key, get a text message, etc.). However, we realized that people would have no way of knowing this since it was not an advertised feature. That is why we added in the save game and exit button on the pause menu so that everyone would know that they could do that. Plus, with the 40 level "Insane" mode, it can take you a little while to work all the way through it. Maybe not something everyone wants to do in one sitting.
We can't say thank you enough for everyone making Chain Reaction such a hit! Look for our next game Pooping Pigeons to hit the marketplace later this week. Check out this page for some screenshots of it:

(I would link it for you, but since we are new to the XDA forums it will not let me post links yet. Some kind of anti-spam measure.)

@Sideburnt - Why ask a silly question like 'You look a bit nobbish in your avatar'? Was there any need for that? Keep that attitude up and your one step away from being banned!!
This is a community based are sharing knowledge where people have the freedom to express views and opinions on phone related topics, not on avatars and peoples names. Lets leave the childish behaviour in the playground shall we and get back to doing what we enjoy most....playing with our phones!!

Once again Spartan takes the high ground, when I stupidly get annoyed by the school bully being mean to the new kid and retaliate by knocking the bully's lunch on the floor... When will I learn?
WTF?
Stop fooling around guys, this thread is really good.
I suggest erasing this one and making a new one with the same topic.
I would also like to know if anyone came across some good stuff...
I am personally checking almost every day if there is something new.
But still nothing that is that much of interest.
Lately it was PointUI2 - I really like it but I am gonna stick with SPB Mobile Shell 2 for some time. But PointUI is really nice and has good functions.
So who's next?
Anyway way back to topic, anythink interesting for touch HD that stays interesting for more than 5mins. I would recommend Music ID and the default youtube app

A better question might be, what exactly do you want your phone to do?
Other than the built in stuff, (the camera, the mp3 player, video player and internet tablet... is there something more that youare after?
GRemote: is **** hot... allowing you to control media player on your PC.
Music ID: is essential if you have even a passing interest in music.
An RSS reader: to have all your news delivered to your phone just in time for breakfast and/or lunch breaks.
"MYplayer": is worth a try if you are having trouble with the getting iplayer to work.
omniano: is good for a laugh, but without multi touch very limited
S2P: is nice to flick through your album covers...
Google maps and live search maps: do what they say on the tin.
Also Microsoft voice commander is quite fun... at times even useful.
Microsoft Recite is good too - a dictaphone with speech search (altho not touchscreen which is annoying).

Anyway this has surprisingly turned into a semi interesting post;
QuickMark http://www.quickmark.cn/En/basic/index.asp has been fun, it scans in barcodes and you can link it to a central database such as upcdatabase.com, it can re-encode QR codes into url's and contact information etc. great fun to make your own QR/Barcodes.
Scrobble http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=474373 is so far the best port of Scrabble on the WM platform, the guys done a cracking job and allowed custom dictionaries to be used.
I think Xtract has been mentioned, I lovely little game, but painfully short and easy.
Fair enough mate, you clearly didn't mean to offend the guy. That's the problem with making jokes in writing. It's very easy to missinterpret. If you look back at what you initialy said, you can see why we might of thought you were just being out of order rather than tounge in cheek.
Anyway, apologies if I reacted a little harshly myself. I got a bit carried away

New demo of Windows Phone game

Hello, I write you from CK7 Studios, a new indie game development company.
We are releasing My Little Tower Defense, a game for Windows Phone, on october, as the device is released.
We would like people to try our game before it's launched, and we have uploaded a demo to ck7studios dot com (works on Silverlight). Please check it, we are sure it will be really fun for you.
Just share any of your thought about the game in the thread, we will really appreciate them to improve our game before launching.
Thanks for your time!
Interesting game but very hard to play with a mouse
Is it hard? We have been working to make it easier from previous versions, but maybe it's not completely polished. Could you tell us more about the problem please... is the game too fast? it does not recognize your clicks? it is stresful with lots of enemies on screen?
Anyway, thanks for your tips!

Definitely a little hard to play with a mouse since you can only interact with one object at a time. Fun concept though!
Nice game.... It's OK for me to play with the mouse, but don't know how will be playing it with fingers, especially when you put 2 thumbs over the display and can't see anything
1. Seems like an interesting game with a fun concept.
2. The step up between the 2nd and 3rd round on level 1 seemed a little abrupt. You go from having a couple of towers and a few bad guys to having an onslaught of bad guys with sheep flying everywhere. Maybe introduce the black sheep a round or level after the white sheep and not simultaneously?
3. The game would definitely benefit from multi-touch, which is impossible to assess using a mouse. Hopefully you have implemented this in the phone version.
4. This is just a style thing, but the English on the instructions has some grammatical errors. Not sure where you are from, but if the game will be released in English, it might be worth it to iron that out.
Great effort, look forward to trying the release!

Heads-up on Gooo

Found another simple time-consumer game. It's new and called Gooo. It's colorful and quite easy... to level 12. Level 12 is the end of the game because it can't be done. So if 11 levels is long enough for a game, this is it. If you want more for your money, don't buy it.

It's a bit like World of Goo meets iBlast Moki.
I only played 2 levels though.
It's pretty fun. As you progress, new gameplay mechanics are introduced. The ad placement on the free version is really intrusive, but I guess there is always the paid version if it bothers you. Either way, worth a download.

That's the best I can think of for a description. I might throw in a bit of Chicks'N'Vixens gameplay as well.
Sadly this game is only playable to level 12. I think the dev is having a bit of a joke at our expense because level 12 can't be done. If it can be done, the dev went from normal gameplay to super-friggin impossible gameplay in one level rather than ratcheting up the difficulty over numerous levels.
I can't recommend the game any longer. It is no longer a casual, time-passing game.
Does anybody know if World Of Goo will be available on the markeplace?

WP7 Gamers

Hi all, with the current lack of global leaderboards, or any specific WP7 Gaming community (that I've found) I've set up WP7 Gamers.
At present, we're on Facebook and twitter (search out WP7 Gamers). A fully fledged website may follow later should interest deem it worthwhile. Also as this is done in my spare time (which I lack enough of!) - if anyone is interested in becoming an admin/mod/poster - please feel free to drop me a message!
Not wanting to upset the mod's on here, this is not run for profit! Just couldn't find what I was looking for! so set out to make it myself. Also for the dev's out there wanting to promote their titles, please feel free to send any information/screenshots/video's and I'll make sure they are shared
Hope this is ok?
gr8 idea dude
Hey sHAYM4N I'm trying to message you but it's not letting me, can you send me one that I can reply to? Thx man.
If you want, I could lend you my website.
It was supposed to be a site dedicated to game news/reviews for WP7 that I started as a school project, but I couldn't find the time to continue it. If you and a small group wanted to take charge more or less, I would give you guys all the info needed to moderate the forums, and if you wanted to, you could even post news and get the front end going again - assuming people posting news were literate.
Let me know.

Cheers for that, but I may have to look at designing from scratch for what I have in mind.
I don't really want this to be another new/reviews website if it goes that way. I want to try and create something that I see as an extension to XBox Live. Something different...
Having a quick search around it appears Microsoft don't have an open API for XBox which is a real shame tbh, because there are a lot of things that could be done further which I don't think are yet being taken advantage of.
In a perfect scenario I would like to see members register for the website using their gamertag, from there they could access leaderboards, compare gamerscores, compete in challenges, whilst also being an active social forum for indie developers.
I'd also be looking for the site to be run by 5-10 people - preferably from different timezones!
If the idea took off and interest grew, challenges could turn into competitions, advertising into supporting the site etc...
When I get chance I'll mock up some designs. I'm more of a designer than a developer - so if anyone has got any advice, or want's to get on board so to speak - feel free to let me know!
For the time being there will be weekly challenges on the Facebook Page. Get the highest score by the closing time, and your gamertag/pic will be crowned on the Profile Pic.
I'll also be posting information about Indie Games, so if you want your game featured please let me know! They won't be reviewed so to speak, just information/screenshots. The idea is to provide the information, and let the community review the game.

Casual games still profitable?

Hi,
recently, after Flappy Bird was put off Google Play Store, there were a LOT of Flappy Bird clones published to Play Store. I'm wondering if these kind of easy casual games are still profitable, considering the amount of time it takes to create them and the money you gain from banners/interstitial ads. I guess most of the games just don't get enough attention because of the enormous mass of casual games nowadays.
Are there any developers out there who can make a living out of creating casual games? Or do bigger projects equal bigger money? Need to hear some experiences about that, still not sure which dimensions to choose for the my next couple of games.

I would recommend you head over to App Annie and read up a little bit. They can tell you what is trending and what markets to hit with your game. They have some very valuable market statistics to help you determine your goal.
As far as casual games go? Take a look at this article. I would venture to say you're still good for awhile.
Interesting link, thanks! Seems that casual games aren't that outworn - for now.
I'm a casual games dev and I make more than the average salary with them, so I think the opportunity is definitely still there. I also think it is pretty difficult, and some of my worse games are the best money makers, so I think luck plays a role as well.

Interesting that you should ask. They just released another article relating to the Advertising and Monetization of Apps. They draw some statistics from 2013-2014 regarding Advertisements in-app and on the web to show how lucrative mobile development can be. That's one way you can use the statistics to help market your game. Furthermore, they show what works and what doesn't.

I read on a Unity flyer that Crossy Road generated $1million in two months from add revenue.
Think its testament to the fact that if its novel an original you just never know.

You're absolutely correct. You can really develop a one-off and not even know it's going to be successful. My advice is to keep making games to increase your knowledge of coding and some of those games where you may be just testing a physics engine or special concept might be the most fun.
I made some Game with > 1 millions users, and I earn only $100-$200 every month.
3 years ago, with less users I earned $1000 by month.
What kind of game did you make?
Sent from my 2013023 using XDA Free mobile app
It's not a binary question but more of a sliding scale. Casual games can be profitable, but to move towards the point where profit is more predictable and less of a coin toss, you really need an ecosystem of small, solid games rather than a few make-or-break titles. Apps by the same developer cross-promote to some extent, and a lot of other little things play into it.
