[Q] Enable boot sound

I have rooted my HTC Desire HD with the Android Revolution rom.
Now the boot sound is gone, but how do i get the sound back again?
If you're not familiar with customizing ROMs, you should check out some guides before doing anything. But anyhow, this is how you change the sound:
1. Gain access to your actual 'ROM' drive on your phone. You can do it by for example downloading an application called Root Explorer from the Market.
2. Place the android_audio.mp3 on your SD-card. (Attached to the second post)
3. Open Root Explorer, locate the android_audio.mp3 and copy it.
4. Go to /data/local/ and tap the Mount R/W button on the top.
5. Then remove the audio file in the folder (if there is any) and paste the HTC audio file there.
6. The folder should now have two files: bootanimation.zip and your new (android_audio.mp3) audio file.
7. Restart the phone and it should work.
---
But just to be curious; why do you want the sound to be back?
I found the original HTC boot up sound, the file is attached to the message.

No problem. And just to clarify, the sound file can be anything, it doesn't have to be the HTC's one.

Some of us just like the original boot up sound
Hello from Greece,
I have flashed my HTC Desire with SuperNova rom v2.4.0.0 and I noticed that there isn't any boot sound during phone's startup...
But with root explorer I found an mp3 file at path... /data/local with the name "android_audio.mp3"...
In order to re-enable the boot sound with the original HTC startup sound what I can do...???
Do I must replace this existing file with the original one, although the two files have the same size...???
Or I must flash a signed file containing the sound I want from recovery mode...???
Thank you very much...!!!
No Luck

[TUTORIAL] Sense 3.0 lockscreen from HTC Salsa

Hi,
Krakatoa, a Spanish member/dev, cooked a custom ROM for the Wildfire S which included the Sense 3.0 Lockscreen from the HTC Salsa.
For the people who wish this new lockscreen (with the silver ring to slide up), but don't want to flash a new rom, I made this little tutorial. I guess Krakatoa used the same method in his ROM.
IMPORTANT: Your Wildfire S needs to be rooted (and thus, S-OFF)!!
1) Download the attachment and copy it to your SDcard (from your phone offcourse...)
2) Download ES File Explorer from the market (free), open it and go into Settings, then tap "Root Options".
3) Check the "Root Explorer" box, tap "Yes" on the popup and accept the Superuser prompt.
4) Check the "Mount File System" box, and exit the Settings.
5) Navigate to /system/app (you may need to tap the SD card symbol on the top left to switch between internal memory and SD).
6) Tap and hold on "HtcLockScreen.apk" and rename it to "HtcLockScreen2.1.apk".
Do the same for HtcLockScreen.odex --> HtcLockScreen2.1.odex
7) Tap on the House icon at the top left to switch back to your SDcard and press+hold the downloaded HTCLockscreen.apk and choose "copy"
8) Tap the SD icon at the top left to switch back to the internal memory and navigate back to system/app/
9) In the system/app/ directory, tap the "arrow up icon" at the bottom and tap your HTCLockscreen.apk. This will paste the file into the system/app/ directory
10) Go back into Settings > Root options and uncheck both boxes.
11) Exit, reboot and enjoy your Sense 3.0!
PS: if you just rename the files and not copy the new file, you will get the standard Android lockscreen back.
I tested this and it works 100% (including new message widget) on stock European ROM with root access.

[Q] Changing HTC Desire GSM (rooted MildWild) Boot animation (HELP PLZ)

I have a rooted HTC Desire (GSM) (3 network) with,
*MildWild V-2.7.2 Based on Oxygen 2.3.2 HTC Desire GSM* CW recovery V4....
I've successfully installed and managed to partition my SD but I recently decided to change my Boot animation.
I downloaded the correct "animationboot.zip" file with the correct resolution and placed it on the root of my SD as explained in a tutorial.
However when on my file explorer (both astro and native MIldWild app) I couldn't locate the "/system/media or the data/local/" folders on my sd card or even when connected in usb mode.
I tried just installing the animation straight from my recovery menu but it cancelled the installation.
How do I locate or find my "system" or "data" folders??
Thanks in adavance
Use a better file explorer app. One that can access root directory.
via xda app
Cheers stankyou it worked

[GUIDE] How to run HD games on our BLADE(most of them)

Hello guys!!
I am creating this thread as seeing so many of ques about running HD games on our blade.
So here it is:
Install any root file explorer( IMHO root explorer from speed software is the best!)
Mount the system with write permissions.
Then go to system/build.prop and open it using any file editor.
Find line looking something like "ro.product.id= or simply where you find the ZTE letters in capital
Replace them with HTC and replace "blade" word everywhere you find it with DesireHD and save the file and reboot you phone.
after phone booted, check settings>about phone you shoud find DesireHD there and yes you have done it.
install any hd game(possibly armv6 games) and let the game download the data.the game should work.and if this doesnt work for you simply download the game data for htc devices(you should google it) and place the in the game's data folder wherever it will be located(for gameloft, mostli it will be like this sdcar/gameloft/games(game-folder).
I got so many of hd games on my zte blade.
more tricks below:
Download chainfire3d app from here and the attached plugins
Then put the plugins at the root of the sdcard dont unzip them
Then launch the app it install the openGL libs and will reboot the phone itself
After that install the plugins from the app and choose desired plugin in either default setting or per app config in app
You should use unroll the texture to increase game performance
It should work for most of the games.
Download the attached file to use the 3g network instead of the wifi mode only
following file will allow you to download and verify the data withou using WiFi. Just place the attached file at thr root of the sd card and launch the game.
BEST OF LUCK!!!
I tried to change but it says can't save...
here what I have done...
ro.product.model=ZTE Blade changed it to HTC DesireHD
ro.product.brand=ZTE changed it to HTC
ro.product.name=blade changed it to DesireHD
ro.product.device=blade changed it to DesireHD
ro.product.board=blade changed it to DesireHD
and while tried to save , it says can't save
what should I do now......

HTC messaging app kept on loading won't open message?

I have tried clearing data and reboot..it still doest help..any idea?

First of all, I assume you are running a Desire Z (hence you post in this forum), but you need to provide more info - is it a rooted/not-rooted device, what is the ROM you are using, have you made any modifications to the message app that you are currently using?
If you are running a not-rooted Desire Z, you should (after a few app data wipes) concider installing another SMS app client (go sms, handcent sms - via market), if those don't work too, then I suggest a factory reset, and that is all you can do I'm affraid.
If you have a rooted device, you may try to substitute the original system mms.apk with another one (renaming the original to .apkbak, just in case, and clear the data of messaging app in the app manager menu one more time). You can find a themed MMS.apk in the Desire Z subforums. If that doesn't help, I myself would try another ROM, but based on the same Android version as current one. If the probel reaccurs (unlikely if you change ROMs), then no idea from now on.

I'm using a rooted desire z and with gen.y b5 rom sense 4a
Sent from my Desire Z using xda app-developers app
First of all, try and use another SMS app, like Go SMS from play store or Handcent SMS. If that won't help, try this:
Go to forums - Desire Z apps section, find a modded MMS.apk app (for example a themed one, found in the bottom of this first post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683240 ), place the modded MMS.apk on your SD card somewhere.
Download root explorer from (or any root browser file) if you don't have one.
1. Go to root explorer, enter the folder system/app
2. Find MMS.apk, rename it to MMS.apkbak (this will be your backup file of the original MMS app)
3. Go to your SD card directory using root explorer, find the modded MMS.apk
4. Copy the modded MMS.apk to the system/app folder. REMEMBER, if the app is named different than MMS.apk, it will not work, so rename it to MMS.apk.
5. Now set permissions of the new MMS.apk to rw-r-r (root browser has persmissions setting while long-press on an app file)
6.Close root browser, go into settings, wipe data of messeging app from there
7. Reboot your phone. Might as well wipe the data again. Won't hurt.
If this will not help you, I suggest trying to find a native MMS.apk app for your ROM (ask someone on forums to post it) and try the above the same way.
