compbination S-Pen and Pen - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Accessories

In my Palm Pilot through Tungsten T3 days I always had a combination Pen/stylus - are there any available for the S-Pen.
Really miss having one, just switch ends to write on the phone or paper.
There must have been a dozen on the market, yet nothing for the S-Pen - just dropping a business idea.

I agree.
I bought some el cheapo pens from China that have a stylus (not wacom), pen, torch and red laser pointer. Damned customs in Oz pinched 'em because obviously laser pointers are far too dangerous for us to have.
Idiots!
The last time they did something like this was a blowpipe I bought in Brunei. Apparently it is a 'weapon'. I had to ask how many blowpipe-related injuries had ever been recorded in Oz. As my mate said, if you wanted to kill someone, you'd get a gun, not a blowpipe!
Customs don't like me much

Im interested in something like this

That item IS NOT a combination writing instrument/stylus. It is a pen shaped HOLDER for the s pen. I should know. I own it.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

I know, it's saying holder and stylus. So you put that extra stylus in the holder.
I also own this one. Its great, feels more like a real pen.
But my bad, this is not the anwser to aharmsworth's question.
But I have to say, I almost quit writing on paper since I have my Gnote

Capacitive pen for taking notes.

Hey, I'm looking to take some notes on my tab and was looking for some suggestions. I've found a couple cool programs but need a pen.
My noted are almost all math related so equations and such.
Any advice would be very helpful.

When it comes to capacitive stylus, I believe price is a good signal of quality. I have tried both high end (e.g., boxwave) and low end (generic, bundled with other accessories), and the difference is very noticeable. Good luck taking math notes.... I am an economist and my note-taking involves math too. You are going to have a hard time getting good results. I tried doing this, but had to go back to my clunky convertible tablet to get the results I needed. Unless you get a slate with a digitizer (like the Flyer or the Thinkpad), you are pretty much out of luck.
Your not out of luck... just need this!!
As u guys know capacitive stylus have a very wide point so that it can be recognized by the device, therefore affecting precision. Thankfully some people already came up with a solution. U have to options.
1) DIY fine ponit stylus with materials u can find in ur house... for FREE:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHhB2BF5yQM
I found a blog where someone made a more precise intructions .... but I don't
remember the site!
2) Someone took the idea to kickstarter and now they are commercializing there
version of a fine point stylus.... only that it cost around 20-30 bucks:

I just pre ordered one of these bad boys!!!
Hmm, looks intriguing. I'm not holding my breath until this type of technology is proven and reviewed thoroughly. Thanks for sharing.

Will take a look. Still in the market for a tablet. I like tthe 10.1 but would be better if I could take notes.
I find the flyer too small for me and the one that att has is like $800 so I'd rather use paper than that lol.

The Dagi came first than the one i showed u guys... but I've read some reviews and they say that it's hard to get used to because w this one u have to write w a certain angle for it to work at its best.
That sucks.
I made my own last night. I'm not good at that kinda stuff so although it worked, it was a little off.
I need one so that I can take small notes on an image of a form, but it just didn't like writing small. I'm wondering if that's the case for most of them.

You can probably do that using Sketchbook Pro. Just import the image, zoom in on where you need to write, merge the layers when done and save.
I too am looking for something to take notes on. I bought a Flyer and it was pretty inaccurate. This is one of those things where if it isn't done right it will be horrible experience. My best suggestion would be to wait for the Samsung Series 7 Slate. I know its pretty expensive but look at like this it can replace your laptop.
The 12.1 Asus eePad slate (Windows-based) gets good reviews on the note-taking area.
first of all: out there are a varaity of stylus for your tabs and phones. the regular capacitive pens you'll find for a buck or two on ebay are the same as the ones cellphone companies sell for like $20, does are just like using your finger and are only good for people with big/fat fingers since they cant type on keyboard well and other stuff like that without hitting the wrong key. but some genius chinese guy invented this wish you can make at home by yourself without any money:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHhB2BF5yQM&NR=1&feature=endscreen
but also two companies took this idea and patented it, and here are the results
Dagi:
P501 and P502 (old method with just stylus)
P601 (old method with ink pen in one end and stylus in the other)
P504, P505, P506 and P507 (new idea, very acurate, just like a pen or pencil)
(the P504 comes in 9 different colors)
P602 (new idea, very acurate, just like a pen or pencil- and also an ink pen in the other end)
Adonit:
Jot and Jot Pro (The best out there)
I have a Dagi P504 and an Adonit Jot Pro. I use the on my Tab on Sketchbook Pro and other Drawing and Note-Taking apps. They both are very good but the dagi does not have a cap so the point can bend in a backpack or something and the adonit jot pro is very sleek in desing and has a cap. Its up to each ones likes. I paid $18 for the P504 and $30 for the Jot Pro. I bought them on ebay. You can find all of the styles on ebay.
You can find all of the styles on ebay. You will find The Dagi from $15-$30 depending on styles and the Adonit from $25-$45
The idea from the guy on the vid works great too
NOTE: I have the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Galaxy 10.1 owners: You must have root on your device and use TouchScreenTune (free app that fixes your touch screen sensitivity). Otherwise the writing will lag. Link below:

Motorola Stylus pen with Precision Tip
On Motorola site, it says that a Stylus pen with precision tip is becoming available soon. By its picture, it seems that it is indeed precise. On the compatibility tab, it says it is compatible with XYBoard only. Is XYBoard touchscreen different from Xoom? In my opinion, if it is compatible with Xoom, it is compatible with the SGT 10.1, isn't it?

S Pen Holder Kit, plus info on other pen alternatives

Hi all,
I am now a happy owner of the galaxy note!
Before I even got the Gnote, I ordered the S Pen Holder Kit from Amazon UK. I have just had it delivered today and have tried it.
I can happily say that writing now feels awesome, just like writing on paper. I have large hands and found using the stylus a bit uncomfortable to write with and with this new accessory, the problems have gone.
The holder kit comes with a spare S Pen and a holder which fits the small S Pen inside of it. It also has a button to use for gestures just like the small pen so you do not lose any functionality.
It cost me £30 which I thought was a bit steep however it does look well built and is very comfortable.
For those of you who do not want to pay that amount, if you have a spare Wacom pen that you may have already brought or one that came with a tablet PC/notebook, give it a shot because I have just tried one that came with my now 4 year old thinkpad notebook and it works!!! Even to the point where gestures can be used using the button on the Wacom pen, it writes just as smooth too, I think I may have blown £30.
looks really nice, i've seen some videos on youtube
thanks for sharing, could be a nice gift for the year end

Samsung Galaxy Note S Pen Holder Kit

I thought I would write a review on the Galaxy Note S Pen Holder Kit that I purchased a few weeks ago. I am in no way a professional, just a normal end user.
I purchased the pen on ebay.co.uk from somewhere in Korea. It cost me £27 roughly ($39.99) and was delivered in about 10 days.
It is quite an expensive item so I was a bit dubious as whether to get it or not, but because I have large hands and the stylus is quite small, I went for the plunge and ordered it.
The first impression when I opened it was that it didn’t look cheap. I wouldn’t have expected it to be after parting with £27. The pen is very sturdy and has some weight behind it. I like a pen with a little bit of weight. The rubber grip is nice and soft and perfect for me, even if I am left handed.
The pen comes with a spare stylus (a stylus on its own costs about £12) so I used that one in the pen.
The stylus slots into the barrel in a grove so it doesn’t spin round. This enables you to use the button on the stylus pressing a button on the pen where the rubber grip is.
Overall I would recommend this pen to anyone who uses their phone a lot. Like me. And especially if like me also you do a lot of drawing (or play draw something).
If you have any questions, post them up and I’ll try and answer them.
And how about writing it self? Writing on the phone with small pen, minding the palm and fingers is not that easy. Does the holder make a difference?
Nice review, but you should have purchased from Handtek ( £20.58 ) :-

It writes well. I do notice sometimes that where the writing apprars it's at least 2mm from where the pen is touching, but I have seen that this is an issue with some other people.
I think you're always going to have an issue with your palm touching the screen. But I find it works well even if you do have to hovver.
As for the cheaper prices, that will teach me not to shop about

If you're on a stock Samsung rom. You'll have palm rejection.
Meaning that if you're hand touches the screen while the pen is detected, it will only register the pen.
It's a really cool piece of kit. Expensive though!
Be careful not to drop it. The tip of the s-pen can't handle the added weight of the holder when dropped.
I dropped mine a few times and the pen inside it broke pretty quick.
My screen still registered a pen being there. But it did not register any touches by it.
Luckily the company I bought it from sent me a new set
Cheers,
Daan
Thanks for the info. I'm quite clumsy, so hets hope I don't drop it I don't think I could afford to keep replacing the pen!
As I far as I know, stylus has a electric circuit which means it needs a power "some people say that it is charged when it is inserted in the phone". When I use this how the stylus will be charged.
It works just like RFID. There is no battery or whatsoever in the pen. It gains power via an electro magnetic field that is generated by the Wacom digitizer-layer in the screen of the Galaxy Note.

In my haste to order a stylus, I ordered one from Amazon and thought I chose the note 10.1. Instead I grabbed one for the regular note. Worst part is... I ripped the box trying to get it out. Now I have a $38 stylus that doesn't work. Why can't I use an Intuos one... those look nice and comfortable.
I ordered one from the Wacom site since it doesn't seem to be available elsewhere in the USA. I should get it early next week and I'll post some impressions. I assume it should should behave just like a s-pen but have a more comfortable feel since it is more pen like.
Eraser or no?

Sweet deal on the white ones.
Thanks
I purchased the white Bamboo Feel pen/stylus from Wacom and received it Friday, after using it over the weekend I can say that I like this pen much more than any of the others I have tried. It feels very balanced in the hand, and the tip/nib had a very nice feel to it much like writing on paper, even with a screen protector on my Note 10.1.
I have tried many others, the stylus that came with the Note, an old pen enabled stylus, the pen holder by Samsung and even though these stylus worked fine, this Bamboo Feel, came out the winner. It tracks perfectly, feels great in my hand, and most of all, feels most like using a regular fine quality pen on paper.
I like it so much that I am going to spend the extra money and order the more expensive carbon fiber one, just for the added weight as I like using a heavy pen when writing on paper. The weight on the white one is fine, it is heavier than any other stylus I have tried ( see above) but I think I will like the carbon fiber even more as it is twice as heavy according to the specs.
This stylus does not have the eraser on the end, if this is something you prefer.

Awesome! Does it come with replacement tips? I know the OEM Note 10.1 stylus has a hard plastic and a 'rubber' tip.. not sure what the bamboo one has..
I just received the carbon fiber model. I really like it. I tried the S-Pen Holder but didn't like the feel of the plastic tip and unfortunately that can't be swapped out like on the s-pen. The bamboo stylus FEEL comes with the rubber tip installed and has replacement tips of rubber and plastic. The weight of the pen is nice and heavy - like a fine pen. This should make note taking much better (and I already thought it was good). The obvious downside is the high price. I would have gone with the black version, assuming it was priced the same as white, but it isn't available yet.

I love using a stylus with my S2. I think I actually do so more than I used the S-pen on my previous Note devices. I am actually just using one of the type that you described because I found a few lying around. I wouldn't mind upgrading to a more... stylish stylus (heh) but the kind I'm using does work quite well. Let me know if you find a nice one that you like :good:
Personally I just use a cheap and cheerful stylus from the pound shop. Maybe one of the soft rubber ones that you don't want (it's dome-ended and semi-flexible, not pointed) but it works well enough and if it breaks or dents (the body is thin aluminium) then just replace it with a new one. My S2 case has a pen/stylus loop to store it, and for me it's fine.
My kids also use styluses (stylii?) on their tablets (Hudl's) - they have solid novelty ones that look like pencils but again work fine (although are a bit chunky and small for my adult hands).
So after checking out amazon and some local stores, I still have not found the best pointy stylus that I want but one that I can compromise with and some others.
The Adonit Jot Pro really works, but just worried about the plastic that it will eventually scratch enough of the screen.
The cross dual stylus is the one I compromised based on that it has a pen and the slim and firm rubber of the stylus. Can be slippery to use as a pen though.
Bamboo's smart stylus pen, though advertised to work for samsung galaxy devices does not work. I tried it at a local bestbuy.
But you could get the one from Bamboo with carbon fiber tip (not pointy) and that one works.
Maybe buying this in the future to just try Lynktec Apex Fine Point Stylus. It is advertised to work with galaxy tab s2 in the shopandroid website.
Hopefully you guys can find better than I do.
does this tablet have a pressure sensitive digitizer? someone on Reddit said it did...
Hey guys, I just got a pack of styli that I ordered from Amazon this AM and I'm finding them to be pretty nice in addition to a killer deal. I was doing some research on the topic and found a couple that looked good in a Lifehacker article, but checking out the reviews lots of people had some kind of beef with their recs and they were about $15 each. Browsing around Amazon lead me to these: http://www.amazon.com/Bargains-0-18...49936069&sr=1-2&keywords=bargain+depot+stylus which looked like they were worth a shot, so I grabbed a 4-pack for $9, because math.
So they just showed up about an hour ago, and I would definitely recommend them. The stylus itself has a bit of weight to it, so it feels like using a decent pen, and the tip feels like it's just the right size. In addition to a bag of extra tips that you can switch out if necessary, each has a cap also which I thought was a nice touch. So I'm not sure if this is what everyone's looking for, but if you want a comfortable/precise stylus you really can't go wrong here.
Does anyone have any stylus-centric apps that they frequently use? The S2 is my first non-Note device in a while, so I'm used to doing things with an S-pen that a stylus isn't capable of. I just DLed Google Handwriting Input and Squid (nice for marking up PDFs). I use mine just for swiping around a lot because I have a tablet stand that's a little far from my chair, but I'd interested in hearing about any other apps :good:

That's the model I chose. Works well, not too chunky at the tip, and priced right.
Did u end up getting lynteck fine point.
OK, so how do you guys carry the stylus on your tablet? I'm using the Samsung book case because I love the thinness and the way the flaps work. I bought the Large Pen Loop by Arune on Amazon and just don't like the way the stylus just flops around when it's in the loop. I'm thinking of some type of leather or plastic sleeve that can stick on the case and the stylus slides into it.
I thought that a stylus don't work on galaxy's tab s2 9.7 lte alias sm-t 815... yet I See that a metallic thing work as a pen... with a pencil it don't work... this only could work with Wacom displays and a magnetic overflow...I'm confused. ..
im using the 'amazon basic' stylus and it works great with my s2 8.0...
But this is not this what I mean... If u heave headphones so u should try to use the tap with the jack plug as a pen so the spen also should work... I try it tomorrow

You are never going to find a stylus for the Tab that will even approach the tip of the S Pen because the S Pen has nothing to do with the TouchScreen. The S Pen on the Note interacts with an electromagnetic screen placed behind the LCD screen in the Note. Tabs don't have that screen. Instead a stylus for a Tab depends on replacing the "capictance" of your finger with that of the stylus's rubber tip. Can't do that with a tiny tip.
However, if you read further down in this thread, you will find a stylus that does have a much smaller tip than normal. The only problem with them is that the tips must be replace every so often because their special capacitance quality "wears out" with use. Thus the replaceable tips that come with the stylus.

No, because the bluetooth receiver in the Tab would have no way to determine the exact position of the external bluetooth pen.
