Updated to Latest Google Source Code Changes
I want to thank all of the hard working teams such as AOKP, CM, EOS, Codename, and all of their dedicated members for making this ROM possible. Most of the Android development I have done in the past has consisted of device ports and this is my first real go at a AOSP source based ROM. I take NO CREDIT for any of the functionality which is included in the ROM. I simply merged the existing source code to produce my own work of art.
Letter from Developer:
I just want to start off, by thanking all of the users who have been following and working with FactoryROM since it's recent release. As stated above, this is my first public AOSP ROM, built strictly from source and it has been quite an experience. Needless to say,
working by myself on this project was taking all of my free time, plus it started cutting into my work & family schedule (I have 3 boys ages 1 ,2 and 4). Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining by any means. I love this hobby, but I have to draw a line somewhere ( I have a hard time doing that sometimes). In order to continue to do what I do best, I decided to join Team Sourcery. If you have been in the dark, Team Sourcery develops a ROM called JBSourcery. JBSourcery has been built from the ground up and offers by far, more customization options than any ROM on the forums. It is going to be my job to create a more fluid User Interface among other things. I ask that you all give Sourcery a shot.. whether you have used Sourcery in the past or not, you are going to be in for a treat in the future releases. So whats happening with FactoryROM? I will continue to update the source of FactoryROM from Google and implement any changes that may occur up stream. I will try and post a weekly update as promised. I will not be adding any more custom features from now on. I hope everyone understands my situation, and I look forward to serving you with Team Sourcery.

This is JUST THE START of a project that I have been working on. Basically I have a
very stable base with a great set of options to customize the phone to your personal
preference. I want to thank all of the hard working teams such as AOKP, CM,
EOS, Codename, and all of their dedicated members for making this ROM possible. Most
of the Android development I have done in the past has consisted of device ports and this
is my first real go at a AOSP source based ROM. I take NO CREDIT for any of the
functionality which is included in the ROM. I simply merged the existing source code to
produce a work of art. The next step for FactoryROM is to include some of my own
settings and options, but first things first...

How is everything running for you? I don't have a Nexus S to test the ROM on, so I don't know how it runs without feedback from the users...

I might have to give this a whirl. Looks pretty damn clean, and I am looking for something other than just CM10. It has been a while since I flashed....
Screw it. Downloading now.

I will have to look into this issue.. I haven't heard any other complaints and it seems like some of the issues are device specific, where one person will have no issues and another person will.

Known Issues:
You tell me!
Porting Issues:
1) absolution Tools is based on the Desire HD, and their kernel, so PLEASE! do not play with the overclocking profiles, just use a daemon because alot of the CPU profiles found in AT aren't compatible with our kernel. however, you may update AT, nothing is dangerous by doing so
2) some apps are old, you may update them, no problems there
3) some playstore problems, if you have those problems, replace the playstore with this one: https://www.box.com/shared/zq4yjywf4ezrfodou0az
and googleservicesframework with this one: https://www.box.com/shared/jngylg1prygp7oc2yylb
4) button backlight brightness is too high, you may lower them by going to settings-absolution tools-cyanogenmod settings-display-automatic backlight-under light levels tick use custom-edit other levels-under button is 255, replace them with a lower number, the lower the number the lower the brightness-apply.

Going to flash this tonight or tomorrow, something old but new love it. I been trying to get into porting roms also, so if you know any good instructions to help please post. Also keep up the good work, I mean some people still use windows xp and ubuntu 9.04.
update: just flashed rom and loving it. Seems fast and snappy, and feels very stable so far.
On this phone I almost always am running gingerbread so I guess there is two of us left!

yes, settings-absolution-cyanogenmod settings-and somewhere in the lockscreen options
EDIT: i still haven't switched hw acc on, and disabled cpu rendering, i just tested it on subway surfers and the game has less lag, so i'll do it today.
two ways to do it: update the ROM and upload it (will take a day) or make a "patch" and release it today.
you decide.

that is something i don't know how to fix, the only way is to enable the statusbar brightness option, and use that for brightness, that way the physical buttons will follow screen brightness.
Looked through the settings you said along with any others and still had no such luck, maybe im just an idiot.

probably yes by enabling hardware acceleration.
i can't upload a patch now, I'll try either tomorrow or Saturday, but if u know how to enable it, try it for yourself
EDIT: weirdly tried it now, unfortunately i don't know edify scripting, so i couldn't do it. can anyone do the patch for me? i'll give the iinfo about the patch once someone responds.

I have no idea how to do it. I hope you figure it out.
Edit: there is a script called pimp my rom that has "enable hardware acceleration" option, I enabled it but I have no idea how to tell if it is working. The 720p playback on TwitchTV is still not working. I can only watch 360p or less.

Kernel Source: IllusionProject

Always follow the OP through and through.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I CAN UPDATE TO HELP, I'M OFF ALL DAY TODAY AND TOMORROW AND MONDAY LET ME KNOW WHILE I HAVE TIME TO UPDATE THIS POST
The Emulated /0 folder is always going to be there, save all sdcard stuff on a PC or some where else before flashing.
If things are acting weird, or you have things going on and don't see too many people reporting it.
Redownload rom and gapps
Wipe via factory reset
Wipe dalvik and cache
Format System (upon flashing rom it will do this automatically)
Then flash rom and gapps, then reboot system. (boot the rom and avoid any 3rd party kernelsat all costs... if issues arise after installing a custom kernel, do not report them here expecting help, it just clutters and makes the rom look no good.)
KNOWN ISSUES
Having headphones plugged in while ending a call will cause a reboot.
Google Music is causing reboots, I use power amp in the mean time, try other music apps if experiencing the reboots
Instagram has a large bug with all S3 and AOSP for taking video.
Focal is crazy buggy at the moment expect issues on all fronts for now.
Keep em coming if you find em and I can replicate I'll post them here.
Expect BlueTooth issues unfortunately. If fixes are around please post them.
LockScreen options are stored in Security
Also if having issues, boot into safe mode and see if issues still persist. Boot into safe mode by holding power button and long press on reboot. This will boot you into no 3rd party apps mode, basically. To get out of it, just reboot normally
To enable root go into Dev Options, scroll to "root access" select adb and apps.If you are having root issues still after this, flash this and it should be fixed. At least other users are reporting so... I don't have any root issues.
For Titanium backup do this go into Settings | Preferences | Backup | Folder location | Detect whole device | select legacy
To enable Developer Options, go to; settings|about phone|tap build number 7/8 times
to enable reboot options,(recovery, download) enable advanced reboot in Developer options
You must flash Gapps everytime you install the rom as it wipes system every time. Use the gapps in the original post, if you use other Gapps keep those errors to your self and address the person/dev that made those Gapps.
Other
Facebook/Instagram acts up and is weird?? Stop using the app.
Update system apps before saying things are broken. (Google Now)
If you decide to run a 3rd party kernel, take your issues about; speed, battery, and reboots to that thread, we cant change their kernel to make it better for you, they can. Thanks.
For cell data when idle it is a 3g icon, then switches don't cry it's normal.
BUNCH OF THEME APKS

I have to do some more reading up on this 3.4 kernel build, don't know much about it outside that it's suppose to have great battery life

So should we go with the stock kennel for now? BMS has a 3/31 3.4 kernel update.... maybe that one fixed the issue.
Was curious if the phone freezing was fixed.... Doesn't matter tho...been waiting for this rom to drop... Gonna try it out. Appreciate the hard work.

DISCLAIMER
Code:
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. Hard. A lot.
I want this rom to be the go to for a CLEAN AOSP experience. Ultimate battery, performance and reliability OUT OF THE BOX, that's the goal of the rom. I picked the source that impressed me the most to do add my own layer of optimizations over it, tailor made for our device and it's hardware, more than a bot building the same source for 15 different devices. This rom may not be for those who feel the need to flash nightlies and even weeklies as I will always pick refinement over the addition of features. The base will only be updated when a new version is proven to be as clean as current version and when time allows it. To those who like the sound of it, you're in for for something great
W03Tweaks are back in v47.1
- Boosted headphone volume. Let's say our hardware capability is 0db, stock CM value was -7db, and our new value is +3db. So +10db boost. Note at full volume you might get a bit of audio clipping if your music is loud and well peaked, just take it down a notch
- Simplified multi-core handling
- Tweaks to PegasusQ governor, for optimal speed and battery
- ROW default CPU scheduler
- Disabled gentle-fair sleepers = better deep sleep
- AFTR+LPA sleep mode = better deep sleep
- 2048kb storage read-ahead = better sd cards performance
- Fixed Android 4.3+ possible battery drain related to gsiff_daemon
- Built-in ad-block host file
- Few ringtones and notification sounds from Samsung roms
- Greater virtual memory values for our big 2gb RAM
- Slower wifi scan = better battery
- Other deep sleep tweaks
- Disabled useless error-checking (logcat still works)
- Optimized mobile data connection (TCP buffers and fixed radio settings)
- Enabled AMR wideband calls for carriers that supports it
4.4 Known Bugs:
* Known CM 11 bugs
* You tell us
----------
DOWNLOAD MODIFIED TWRP RECOVERY 2.6.3.1 WITH FIXES FOR 4.4
DOWNLOAD ROM
ROM Mirror
DOWNLOAD 4.4 GAPPS
Gapps Mirror
It is not recommended to flash SuperSU anymore, caused issue to some people. The built in Superuser now works with ART, it's our reliable root
----------
Recommended Apps:
* Greenify: More than a task killer, it prevents apps from taking ressources when you're not actively using them. Awesome!
* Papyrus: A great alternative to S Notes
Let us know that you think of the rom and say hi in the thread, keep it a friendly place and HELP each other!

Got some huge news tonight guys
BeanStalk has been a priceless rom to build an use from the start, since android 4.4 it's got harder to maintain, bugs staying there release after release and some too deep for me to fix
With the free time that comes with the holidays I've looked for a new source for us to base on. It's been a though call but I'm confident I made the right one and you'll be the ones who judge of that
There will be no more BeanStalk + W03Tweaks
Our new rom will be Temasek CM11 + W03Tweaks
I've been working on it and running it during the last days and I have to say: it's the best rom I've ever run
Imagine the features we love of beanstalk, and without the bugs, source being built super carefully and updated very often
The perfect rom if there's a such thing hehe
We've been an incredible team in this thread, and fear not this is not over it's just getting better
In here
I won't close this thread, wil be open for people who want to keep using BeanStalk but my work focus is on Temasek rom now and I invite you to give it a shot (and have your mind blown )
Good weekend people!!

Had no issues myself. However, the Goo download failed for me, on both my phone and PC. But the Dev host worked fine. Maybe a bad download or possibly a upload. Did you flash anything else with the Rom?
With myself, I always flash busybox, animation mod, modem, cpusleep, and some inverted google apps as well. I've not had a problem yet doing so, since 4.2.2 but if you are flashing extra stuff and it's hanging, they may also be the cause. But if you haven't already try the Dev host Link.

Have it up and running! Sensors still seem a bit screwy though, compass/gyro rotates backwards and seems to stop working requiring a reboot to come back, also my proximity sensor was stuck on my first boot, will have to test tomorrow if its working properly.
Otherwise, solid! Would love to see system DPI settings added back, but I was able to get that working with pimp my ROM. Going to test app settings shortly!
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk
Edit: app settings seems to be working just fine!
Also, are the sensor issues I am experiencing ROM related or kernel related? I had the exact same issues with the last two beanstalk releases by will. As far as I can tell its an issue with 4.4.2
Is anyone else having these issues or know how to fix them? This is my last sticking point for these ROMs and might be a dealbreaker making me head back to my last solid beanstalk 4.4rc1 release.
Only flash gapps and the Rom and that's it..... Will try reflashing the recovery and see if that fixes the issue.

So is this rom better than beanstalk? And can someone check if snapchat video recording works or its stops at 1 sec?

ROM is as good and imho smoother. There are a few little things missing, but they will probably be included in future updates. Snapchat video works but you need to set the quality to low. If you use standard you will only get 1 second. I've found this to be the case on all 4.4.2 ROMs I've tried.

Edit: I found two little bugs: 1) when trying to record a video, stock cam search always for autofocus, while recording, and 2) maybe there is a codec problem for .avi video play, cause it's not possible to reproduce them..fixed installing mx player from Google Play, ATM, but obviously other video players, including the one which comes with the ROM, don't reproduce this format..All the other stuff is working superbly..

Oh, you mainly should thank both the OP and the main developer (Scott Hart: you can find the link to his profile on the first post), not me.. I'm only an arm, they are the MINDS!

Yes, and to make sure it was not a bug during the installation, I reinstalled with full data/dalvik/system wipe... Everything seems to work great, without the wifi...
EDIT: HOLYS***T! I didn't saw that this ROM is for the Memo Pad! :/ I flashed this on my TF300T... It works very well, freaking smooth, but no wifi! Sorry for my bad reading... But for the dev ( @ectoplasma22 ), now you (and we) know that it seems pretty easy to port this ROM for the TF300T!

@ectoplasma22 Hey mate, I need to report some bugs from an user which gave me some feedback on an Italian forum, where I made a link to your thread: he said that he tried to convert some apps in system-apps even using Titanium backup, without luck; tried installing apex launcher from play store having no success, then tried via ADB, and nothing too.. Finally, he tried to remove trebuchet from system apps, and he softbricked the tab, by making this..but I think that this last thing is not so important, if you leave trebuchet at its place XD He didn't give me any logcat, btw..

General Info & Introduction
Android Open Source Project: Or in short AOSP. Android is an open-source software stack created for mobile phones and other devices. The Android Open Source Project (AOSP), led by Google, is tasked with the maintenance and further development of Android. Many device manufacturers have brought to market devices running Android, and they are readibly available around the world.
Rooting: Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user.

Downloads
ROM // GApps // Mirror
Gapps link is to slim's gapps download page. I suggest using the minimum package since Thinking Bridge does not have a dark switch. If you install the aio package your gapps will be dark (not that dark is bad) until they get updated from the playstore.

No someone else just thought development stopped on the source. Even if that is true I will still be working with this so it WILL NOT be the last version.

Jelly bean (4.1-4.3) was last years (older) android verdion. Kit kat (4.4-4.4.2) is the newest versjon with some new features and supposedly runs better on lower end devices than ics/jb roms. What most users will actually notice about kik kat is actually the lack of features that jelly bean had. Those features are slowly being added in. All my source roms are kit kat.
Now about moving from beanstalk. I like beanstalk best so far. It has the most features of any kit kat out so far and I have almost no issues with it. Not to say this rom is not good but just not as many goodies.
Also I updated the gapps link to slims gapps download page. For this rom I suggest using the minimum package since thinking bridge does not have a dark toggle. If you use aio package your gapps will be dark (not that dark is bad).
