Hi Fellow FLO owners!
Has anybody had any luck when using a 64 GB MicroSD card with their OTG cable?
I have already unlocked the bootloader and loaded a custom recovery and rooted my device, I then replaced my 32 GB microSD card with a new 64GB hooked up to my OTG cable via the USB port. For the life of me, I cannot read the newly formatted 64 GB MicroSD card? Has anyone tried this yet with a 64 GB sized card and was able to read their data? Was there something special I needed to do as well, download some other app or what have you?
If so, please tell me HOW you got that working or PM me.
Thanks!
Far-from-new-to-rooting and unlocked bootloaders, but, baffled nevertheless.

While I don't have a tablet in my hands yet to confirm or deny this theory, my guess is this:
A 64GB microSDXC card is going to come preformatted with exFAT; your stock Nexus 7 can't read exFAT partitions.
You can either reformat the card, or use a program to mount exFAT partitions (like this thing), or install a ROM that can read exFAT partitions (CyanogenMod 10.2 can do so; so can others, probably).
Ah, that sounds good, I shall give it a try and report back on my results! Thanks very much!!!

Oh, before I forget to mention it:
What recovery are you using? There's a very good chance it will be able to read / format the card for you.
Really? TWRP v 26.00
Oh well, I already reformatted it to NTFS now, the Paragon App didn't work. Currently, recopying files over now to the microSD card as we speak, will take about an hour.
Thanks again!

I seem to be having problems formatting my Sandisk 64GB MicroSDXC (Class 10) card in FAT32 & having it work in my AT&T Galaxy S3. The card comes preformatted in exFAT, and it works in the phone just fine that way. But, I heard it's best to format it in FAT32 due to some issues I saw about some people having some of their music files not show-up (if they have a rather large music collection, which I do - 85GB's worth!) in whatever music playing program they're using, so I'm attempting to format it with FAT32 to avoid that. Now, Windows 7 (x64) does NOT allow you to format drives via FAT32 (unless you go into DOS), so I've used a couple of different programs (Fast32Format, EASEUS PartiionMaster); I got a message on my Galaxy S3 saying my SD card was damaged or missing when I used Fast32Format); a bunch of services stopped working on the phone when I formatted it using EASEUS PartionMagic, and I even tried formatting it in NTFS (which I think that Android doesn't support) & got a message my SD card was blank and Android wouldn't even mount it!
What am I doing wrong? How can I format it in FAT32 and have it work in my Galaxy S3?!! Do I even really need to use FAT32 instead of exFAT?
Thanks,
Dennis

EaseUS worked fine for me - the one thing that screwed me up the first time is when you tell it to format it, you also have to tell it to apply it. And hopefully the "Fast32" was autocorrect - you should just be using FAT32 - and I don't think I changed the block size. HTH

I apologize for bringing up this old-ish thread, but I always see that every time someone makes a new thread, they get bombarded with "use the search feature", so uhh, I did .
I've got a Class 10 SanDisk Ultra 64GB MicroSD XC card, that refuses to work with my Galaxy S3. I've got CM10 on it, do you think that might be the issue? If so, how do you think I can rectify it (what format would work?)
I've used EaseUS to delete the partition, and recreate using FAT32, but no dice, still getting a "damaged card" notification. I can seemingly use the card fine on my PC and my Mac, but nothing on the phone.
Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated

Well, this is ominous given that I ordered this micoSD and it just shipped. I read lots of reviews on Amazon and those with S3 phones seemed to have no issues using card as is, although they didn't specify precisely which version of S3 they had. The S3 natively supports 64 GB, so I would think it would work out of the box, so to speak. A number of reviewers said they used this microSD in older phones that supposedly supported only up to 32 GB. They formatted in phone, getting something like 59 GB of usable space.
I'm using stock ROM with CWM on I747.

A more complete response...its a known issue with AOSP based JB ROM's. This is pulled from the AOKP FAQ, since it is an AOSP based ROM as well this should help you out.
Will my 64 gb sd card work? Except it works fine with a 64GB card. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/28124-doe...card-standard/ The SGSIII is the first phone to support exfatl, but the support is Kernel based, some people are having trouble with the replacement kernels and exfat support. The solution is to force it to format in FAT32. http://www.online-tech-tips.com/comp...ive-to-fat-32/ I know, because I've done it. --- Don't respond without actually doing research. I have no problem spoon feeding information, especially when the information you put out there can increase misinformation. The SGSII also supports a 64GB card as well. http://androidforums.com/samsung-gal...ing-sgsii.html naturefreak85l;
EDIT - Apparently the links are dead, but there a many methods to choose from to format and SD in FAT32.
Just ordered one of these. Someone posted it in the deals section and didn't want my fellow Note buddies missing out.
Edit: they are also only £39 from the UK

Thanks mate, appreciate it and will order immediately!

If anyone knows about that pls let me know

Hi dcargirisc,
I can assure you 100% that this will work with your Galaxy Note 1 (N7000). You will have to format it in the phone and after that it will be recognized. Regarding the exfat I don't think that with the stock Kernel you will get it working, but I might be wrong about that.
To sum up, you will have it formatted as fat32 and it will work flawlessly. I have tried the speed test application and I am getting 10.6 Write mb/s and 16Mb/s read speeds, on SweetROM v3, which is what I was expecting.
Good luck.
GOoooooood New ! Thank i am going to get one !

I bought mine 64G SD card in Oz for $90 delivered and formated to exFat but was not recgnised by the phone with LS7 ROM. Could not accept NTFS so eventually I did Fat32 which works.

Ive heard that these 64gb microsdxc cards can be damaged by computer card readers. I need to copy backed up files to it. Does anyone know of a card reader that is confirmed safe to use with these cards? Thx

Heard so too, took the risk an used the built in card reader (laptop) to read/write/then formatting it to FAT32 (saved me lots of headaches with kernels and cwm), and finally partitonning it to use Link2SD.

64 GB is not quite supported but can be made to work... -- my 64 GB Sandisk was formatted with ExFAT file system, which works fine with newer versions of Android JellyBean but not earlier. You may have to reformat as FAT to get it to work.
Do some searching on this topic, you'll find more information.
64 GB is not officially supported but works flawlessly in reality. Just format the card and you're good to go. I use a 64 GB card too.

In my opinion, it is always a good idea to "re-quickformat" a microSD card after purchasing, and BEFORE you mount it in the device preferred. It gives the chance to the circuit to be "revived", and this is much better done through a computer, than a smartphone or tablet.
My SanDisk 64GB microSD arrived with exFAT file sytem and an 128K cluster size, which is the default by the factory. I re-quickformatted it with the same factory parameters, as those were suitable for my needs.
Let us note that with bigger cluster size, comes better performance with the expense of more wasted (slack) space.
The reverse applies to smaller cluster sizes, of course.
It's a good thing that the newest Jelly Bean Roms (I use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1970626) DO support exFAT!
I just bought a 64GB micro sdxc card..brand new....when I try to do ANYTHING in the lates 6.02.03 recovery, I get this error....Everything worked before I put this card in...Windows CAN access it with phone plugged in etc. I formatted it from exfat to fat 32 using Easeus Partition manager, flashed CWM and same error...so I flashed CWM to the latest (6.02.03) and same problem. I had similar issue before but I got it solved by formatting to FAT32 using this program: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm
The issue I had was not because the ROM didn't support it, it was the kernel that didn't support it. I don't know if you're having similar issue or not, but if you're willing to experiment, you might try that if your ROM didn't have the stock kernel in it.
Good luck

I have the Tab pro 12.2 KK4.4.2 and purchased a patriot Micro SDXC 64 GB. My question is similar to other posts and I will try the posted solutions when someone can confirm the validity of the SDcard. Samsung specs for the Tab(SM-T900) state support for micro SDHC up to 64 GB. All of the reading I have done shows that the largest SDHC cards is 32GB and anything larger is a SDXC. So is my64GB SDXC card actually supported in my device? I have not been able to write MP3 files from my PC to the card or any other files with any success. Put I am able to do it fine on a smaller 16GB SDHC card. Can this version SM-T900ZKAXAC be rooted?
Thanks

I contacted Samsung and they are going to escalate the issue up the chain. It seems as though the tablet only supports Fat32 file system, while SDXC cards are only can only be formatted using exFat or NTFS. That being said I tried formatting my card with NTFS in hopes it might allow Fat32 after but it wouldn't format using NTFS.
Is no one else having this issue, as I have not seen 1 other post regarding this particular problem?

I thought for second you had the solution. I have another tablet and tried reformatting using it. I had the stick showing fat32 file system but it was 32gb vs 64gb. But the tablet recognized it initially, so l reformatted using the tab, but now the tablet looses the sd after it writes a few files to sd. Then if I try to view files on the tab, I get a message that the ext sd card may not be readable.

Again- Thanks. I thought it odd as well and it didn't add up. Although the SD card was working OK in my new Sony camera I decided to return it to C.C. for an exchange, voila problem solved. This still tells me that Samsung Technical support is useless. Everyone spent a lot of time trying to solve this issue. I still am finding odd things happening with Kies but I have found some work a rounds.
