I simply can't connect to anything. All devices in the menu show up as MISC and when tapped are highlighted for a brief moment. I've tried connecting to a soundbar, headphones, and other phones with no success.
To troubleshoot I cleared the cache/data of the bluetooth system apps and force stopped them. Power cycling the devices provided no fix either.
Anyone have any ideas or tips?
Thanks
I just checked and my Bluetooth is working fine, shows BT Speaker as what I was using and plays fine. Are you on ZV3? I know someone mentioned they had ZV2 then got an update to ZV3.
Maybe try dialer codes ##UPDATE# or ##SCRTN# go crazy and do ##RTN# (need MSL) basically factory reset lose everything start over. Not fun! Last resort!

I did the factory reset and that fixed it. Guess it was some sort of software bug. Thanks for the help!

Recently my car stereo stopped syncing the phone book and call log from my GSM Galaxy Nexus. I don't know how or why. It simply stopped working. I want to reset the connection, i tried unpairing but this didn't work. I want to actually delete the connection from the phones memory. As of now whenever I click on Bluetooth, JVC Unit is always listed there. When I first established a connection it asked if it was ok to share my phones call log and phone book, and gave a check box to remember my response for next time. I cliked OK and REMEMBER and everything was fine. Now I think it could be possible that somehow it has been set to "NO" and "Remember"(although that would be weird since I didn't mess with it) thus no matter how many times I connect, it always refuses to share. I don't know if this is really the problem, or how to fix it. Any ideas? FYI the phone works fine through Bluetooth it just has no history or data in the phone log and phone book functions.
Have you updated the ROM?

I am having the same problem on Sensation XE. It seems that with some ROMs it communicates without problems, in other cases it does not show call logs. Try to figure out what you've changed. Have you accepted any OTA?
Ciao

I went through google, here, and other android blogs and where I found people who've had a similar problem to mine, there seemed to be no concrete solution.
What I'm talking about is literally in front of my eyes, though I didn't know the extent at the time, the wifi \ bluetooth died. I was listening to a podcast and the wifi turned off. I had no problems that led to this, no issues with the ROM (Energy) and anything else to indicate anything was wrong. So after turning it on it would just say error, and that was it.
Like other posters who've brought this up, I cleared cache and dalvik, went to stock, went to other backups from different ROMS, and still nothing. So is there anything concrete anyone here knows about? Thanks in advance!

So as to fix this problem, some people suggest to do a Factory reset. But, it is completely unnecessary.Instead you can try the following methods, which where tested by me successfully.
1. Dial *#*#526#*#* to reload the wifi driver. If it doesn’t work, restart your phone and dial it once gain.It will work for sure.
2.There is an app “Wifi-Fixer” from android market, which claims to be fix this problem. But seriously,it hadn’t worked for my mobile phone(Samsung Galaxy Ace). But,
if you are interested, can download and try it here.
For HTC users, I have a pretty good trick which works very well.
When you have obtaining IP address problem,
1.Turn off wifi.
2.Open “Allshare”, then you will be asked to connect to a wifi network.
3.Then select the wifi network that you need to connect from the list opened.
Magically, you will be connected without any extra effort. This works 100% sure without fail.
If that doesnt work try this:
1.Dial *#*#526#*#*.Then a message will be shown “Driver loading Successful”.
2.Now Start the WiFi, it should work.
If the message “Driver Loading Unsuccessful” is shown, follow these steps:
1. Dial *#*#526#*#* again and click options button on your phone.
2. Select Rx test.
3. Select Channel >9 .
4. Click Start and exit.
5 . After some time, turn on the wifi.It should work.
It is possible you've fried your wireless card.
Can you test Bluetooth calling?
If enough heat built up for a long enough period of time both could be affected.
ie charging while on wifi using Bluetooth and a heavy CPU workload is a perfect recipe.
Okay Diablo, thanks for the suggestions but of course, it didn't work. So many times I read these threads where people are having trouble for one reason or the other and nothing ever seems to work... Now I'm that guy.
So like I said, I would dial those numbers and nothing would come up. Now I did try wifi fixer and it really looked it was doing something, but again, nothing happened.
And 9h0S7, I'm fearing you may be right... I've read the bluetooth and wifi are on the same antenna, and I can't get the bluetooth working either. A friend of mine checked the board and everything looked fine so visually speaking nothing seemed corroded or messed up in anyway.
Anyway, thank you both for your help and I continue to hope this can be fixed!
Help! No Wifi connection now...
I had the "Wifi Error" problem with my Samsung Galaxy Ace device, so tried to follow the procedure described with Allshare. It didn't work, and now my device is not able to connect via wifi in any way! I've tried restarting the phone many times and dialling the code to reload the driver, I tried to download Wifi fixer, but no method works. The phone "sees" the Wifi network, tries to get the IP address and then disconnects. I don't know what to do... I'm desperate...:crying: :crying: :crying:
So I got a Galaxy Tab 3 for free with my new Galaxy S5 yesterday. And on the notification bar there is a prompt saying preparing network. I have full bars on the signal but have no connection to the network. I tried rebooting, turning on airplane mode and trying to reboot the signal. But have no luck.
Is there anything that I can try to fix this? The Tab is stock and I haven't changed anything yet...
Any help would be great!!
Which tab 3 model?
Are you on the "right" network? Does you network have a hidden SSID? Are you using any security on the network? Check the network settings on your PC and copy them to the tab. If you are not sure, then open your network and see if the tab connects. If so, then you can close the network again.
I have the same issue but mine is working all networks. It started when I tried to connect to a new wifi at a wing place and the icon has been on ever since.
Same problem
So no one has any info or any suggestions? Nothing? Also I'm on Sprint.
I havent figured out anything , I have tried messing with sync and wifi options and nothing has changed.
I have looked at all the "Tab 3" devices since you did not indicate what model you have. With that in mind the search is very broad and data found could/could not be affecting your connectivity. But this is what I found.
All Tab 3, except Tab 3 Lite 7, use 802.11 a/b/g/n WLAN Standards. The Tab 3 Lite 7 only has 802.11 b/g/n. Why? I don't know.
So, make sure that your location has one of the three, 802.11 b/g/n working. You tab should auto acquire unless you have a setting that is specifically looking for a unique channel. Confirm all your parameters and the parameters of the WiFi source.
tab 3 prepping service solved
Ok so got 2 tab 3s from sprint today and same issue. To resolve this.......they are not activated! Run on wifi and go to settings and at the bottom left it will show a small phone icon and say activate this device. Click on that and let the live activation happen. The tab 3 will then reset and function on sprint networks!
Ok so that takes care of it initially and then it comes back on switching to and from wifi. You can get rid of the icon by going into the app manager, select all apps, and force stop samsung dm. Looks like it is a samsung software issue to me!
Man, the folks at Sprint aren't even aware of the issue yet. My Tab3 just sat there and wouldn't activate or connect at power on. So I have to skip all setup and go to activate in settings and it activated. Tried a factory restore so I could do setup again and no connection again and the preparing network problem. Switching to CDMA works. On the phone with support for like 30 minutes and they couldn't see my device on the network at all even while on LTE. Thanks for service reference. I was going to return this unit until I saw it was a software issue. It makes for a nasty setup/activation with no wifi around.
Sometimes activation fails and just gives a LTE error, sometimes it fails and sends data usage stats. When it completes it posts a backup pin and phone number. I'm guessing this happens with store pickups because they let it update on powering it up and that broken service starts messing things up.
Go to settings and then to activate this device and as soon as it starts to try and activate its self press the volume down 4 times and then you will see a screen that says IQTHiddenMenu....Scroll down to LTE mode and select it you will see a screen thatb has four boxes on it...select the one that says "enable LTE Mode" after you selct that then just hit back button a few times and let it try and activate again and this should fix your issues. You may have to do this twice. For the last 2 weeks this has been the only way we can activate anyones tablet is using this method, it has somehting to do with our Network not communicating properly with the Tablet.
Hope this helps.

Hidden screens. One has to love technology. So then one also has to ask, what else is the tablet doing that we do not know about? Reporting back to the mother ship?
Solution
So I had this same problem and I called sprint today and they were able to help me. THIS WILL RESET YOUR TAB AND YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON IT. Make sure to back up if you have anything important.
You have to open the calculator and type (+30012012732+ when the next screen pops up, type ##786#, the RTN menu will open, press Reset, it will ask you for your MSL, type it in and that will do it. Hope it helps.
BTW you will have to find a way to find your MSL as I never had to. I'm sure if you call your carrier they will give it to you once you tell them why you need it.

Looks like they are still having this issue. Mine was stuck on Preparing network. 3G and wifi worked, but no LTE or GPS. I did the hidden menu trick and now that all works, but I still have the "preparing network" notification. Is there any way to remove this? Could I do a ##RTN to clear network configs, then enable LTE through hidden menu, then activate?
Something to try that worked for me for the time being
I just thought I would share with anyone else having issues with the persistent Preparing Network message.
If you go to Settings>Activate Device and launch the Self Service application, there is a hidden menu accessible via the Menu Key, And you can then choose Reset Cellular Data.
Your device will then reboot, and it will go through Self Provisioning when it reboots.
I Had to do this twice, and 2nd time seems to have been the charm this time as the Preparing Network Message is gone!
Finally got rid of "Preparing Network"!

I spent 2 hours on with Sprint live chat, did a Kies reset, software hard reset, and everything else I could find...yet this solution was the simplest and the only one that actually worked!
Someone let Sprint support know how to fix their own device, please!
Thank you rastassjr, you saved me a trip to the Sprint store.
This is a common problem with an easy fix.* Long press the notification on the task manager.* A button will appear saying APP INFO.* Press that and you will see the app info page.* Clear the cache and data and more inportantly, deselect the notification checkmark.* Thats it!...*
OTA 4.4.2
Just got it on a new SG Tab3 7" and it cleared the "Preparing Network" icon. I had done a MSL reset yesterday and it had cleared it before I bricked it. I returned it, got a new one and it cleared it on its own after the 4.4.2 update.
Solved!
I solved mine after several weeks. First, oddly enough this error was preventing me from getting the 4.4.2 android update and the system said the operating system was up to date on 4.2. You need to download the samsung Kies program into your computer and perform a manual firmware update. The system will tell you that indeed you have the latest update but you'll do it any way. Once the OS is reinstalled, you will see that the PRL will be updated properly, which is the reazon for this problem. Then the system will allows you to receive the 4.4.2 upgrade which does not suffer from this problem. The key is to upgrade to android 4.4.2.
My Bluetooth is completely unreliable after the last update. Volume is too soft. Doesn't connect to devices. I've tried unpairing and repairing and it stays connected for a short time, then when I try and connect again it doesn't connect.
Even the streaming is shaky.
Any solutions?
Check to see how much storage space you have left.
Part of your symptoms could be explained by low storage space.
But it sounds to me like you need to back up your data and apps and then do a factory reset.
I did a Network Settings Reset (under Backup and Reset) and lost all my wifi passwords. None of my networks are connecting automatically anymore. I'm horrified that I might have lost 5 years of accumulated wifi passwords!
Any solution?

No and my phone is not rooted, but doesn't Google back up these Settings? Every time I set up a new phone, it downloads all my previous WiFi codes.

Only way I know of to get that info is to perform factory reset.
google restore sometimes includes keys sometimes not for me.
Tell me please
Skoda car has music Bolero MIB 3 (VAG regular), which works just fine with a Motorola phone via bluetooth, you can both make and receive calls to the car. When my Sony 10 III is connected via Bluetooth, everything seems to be OK at first - contacts are loaded into Bolero, the signal level is visible, etc. ... But I can make a call by selecting a subscriber on the Bolero screen, only ONE time. With all the following attempts to call - "connection setup error". Only restarting the phone helps, after rebooting you can make one call again.
Where to dig? I really want to conveniently call from the car ... All available settings have been tried. Change phone?
phone: Sony 10III, XQ-BT52, 62.0.A.3.137
Make sure all power management is disabled.
Try a network reset.
Try loaded factory app version for involved apps or that failing see if any updates are available.
If you did any major OTA firmware updates recently without doing a factory reset... it's time to do so.
I found out that when the phone starts making a call, its bluetooth turns off and the connection with the car is broken.
how to fix it?

Did you try what I suggested above?
Try clearing cache or data in associated apps but be very careful about clearing data in the phone apps. Normally this isn't required.
