No USB PC cable or SIM ejector tool? - Moto Z Play Questions & Answers

Noticed that when I got my Moto Z Play Droid it didn't come with a USB cable to connect to my computer, only a cable to plug into the wall. Also in the mini manual, it shows the SIM ejector to access the SIM and micro SD slot which also didn't come with my phone. Are these supposed to be missing?

Did you get it new? Every unboxing I've seen of the Droid version came with both the cable and tool.

Don't know if the Droid is supposed to be different, but if it's like the unlocked Play, then no USB cable is correct, but double check the package for the sim ejector, it should be wrapped up in there somewhere

Strange, I checked the entire package & didn't find anything. They must've forgot to include or something.

Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated. It's certainly no big deal as I can just buy the parts elsewhere, but can we use something like a paperclip instead to eject the SIM/microSD slot?

USB Host OTG Cable Adapter

Got one of these yesterday, quick delivery and does what it says on the tin: link
i have this and is working fine also. It's working even with an optical mouse...cool!
I had a bit of a hard time finding one in the US. I just ordered a micro usb cable and a female to female connector. I think it was under $2(US) total.
has anyone tried connecting external 500 gig hard drive to the galaxy s 2?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I have the adapter cable but does not work for GS2 but on the HTC HD2 its work.
Why does not work, does not show me any sign that the cable connected. Does it have to be some special cable?

I have, it doesn't work unless you have a external power supply for the hard drive. the phone can't supply enough power to it.

MHL to HDMI adaptor cable

Hello all,
Today I was excited to find a cable that I'd ordered last week from Hong Kong on ebay had arrived.
Micro USB MHL to HDMI Cable Adapter HDTV For Samsung Galaxy S2
Well if it works on the S2 then it probably works on the Note. Well I plugged an HDMI cable into my Dell 1920 x 1200 monitor, that cable into the adapter and then a micro USB power cable into the micro USB power socket of the device.
Doesn't work
Hmm. Its a pretty simple device. Well I tried swapping micro USB cables in case it works differently with MHL or non MHL cables. Still does nothing. Damn.
Maybe it requires particular software to drive the video. Well no joy yet. If anyone has some suggestions then I'm happy to hear them. It was pretty cheap. But I wish it worked...
In case you were thinking of getting one of these. Here is the one that I bought.

Are you aware that it needs power? In your case, your device needs to be connected to computer usb (as it said in item description)

Cable can't too long.

I have a similar one to that from China or somewhere and works great, do need to plug in your mains charger for it to work though. Only issue I had was you I needed to screen fit on my telly because it wasn't fitting properly but after I ran that it fit to te screenproperly.
Good news that MHL is working on the note, especially after the news of the Pioneer AppRadio 2.

I bought a Menotek brand adapter off Amazon, and it works great for me. My TV luckily had a USB port (for firmware updates), and it powered the device just fine.
i bought one off ebay and according to the seller it is the original one
it works great
but you need to turn off the data (3g) because it causes disconnects on the lcd

Anyone know if a USB OTG keyring/keychain exists?

I would love to have an OTG adapter I could keep with me all the time, particularly for storing multirom roms on as I already have a flash drive attached to my keys.
I've had a search but I'm unable to find anything suitable.

So you want OTG card reader not a regular adapter?
There's plenty of those as a keychain. Thought you were looking for adapter to plug your USB stick to the phone.

Received this today, shipping didn't take too long to the UK. The seller included a free micro SD USB adapter with it. The OTG adapter itself works fine, the lid feels like it might break off eventually though. The micro USB part is longer than usual which allows the adapter to fit over my Spigen Slim Armor case.
The PK'2 Paris USB is a perfect solution. Its micro SD card and a 16GB thumbdrive with a USB and Micro USB connection.

Although it is on the expensive side. It is really convinient to have all of those things available on one small USB keychain.
Meenova is awesome!
I've got to say that I love the Meenova. It has been handy for numerious devices and it is a quality product!
i got that SAME one lol, sitting on my desk but too lazy to open and test it, course the meenova is the best for its small size

Compatible Micro USB Cables for the Swift

Hi everyone.
As you have probably realised, the USB port on the swift is slightly deeper than the standard.
I thought it would be useful to start this thread with cables that I have tried and whether they worked.
Asus Nexus 7 2012 Micro USB cable, works perfectly, this port is also a little recessed.
Anker Braided, fits fine but doesn't have the same hold on the port as the original or the N7. But better than most.
Aukey Micro USB, these are cheap and fit like the original WileyFox cable. I hadn't heard of them before, image below to help interested parties find them.

OnePlus Micro USB cable, I figured it was the same as the WileyFox cable as visually similar design, I had one from my old OnePlus One, it is not the same reach though.
In short, I think any 8mm cable will do the trick, share any others that you have found below.
I use RAVpower 5 pack. It fits perfectly and I have 5 different lengths.

Hey
When my swift cable broke I switched to a Lumia 520 USB cable. That cable has a nice hold to the swift.
The cable provided with my girlfriend's RavPower external battery is a perfect fit.
@silasnicholls , could you post a link for the 5 pack?

This is UK and very cheap.
Thank you, @silasnicholls !
my Sony USB from my last phone (Experia Miro) works fine, the one for mt Sony RX-100 is touch and go as it's a little shorter.
I've not had any issues with USB's for phones so far
from a mech eng point of view I'm not a fan of the Wiley USB as a longer male terminal means it's more likely to damage the internals if it gets a whack as it has more leverage, hence I only use the WileyWhite at home. The Miro USB gets used most, plugged into my works PC
Just an update to this; these from Amazon UK are spot on and fit perfectly; https://www.amazon.co.uk/iTALKonlin...4738&sr=8-3&keywords=usb+cable+wileyfox+swift
Anker Cables seem to fit nicely. I got mine bundled with the PowerCore 10000.
Any rubber cables I have such as the one I had for my S2 I just cut off a bit of the end and now the cable fits fine. Although my Oneplus X cable works without any modifications

Why won't my penguin connect to my pc

BTW this is my first usb-c device.
Mine arrived today and I wanted to unlock the bootloader. I used the adapter to connect a usb-a - usb-a cable from my phone to the computer. My phone would charge, but that's it. PC does not recognize it being plugged in. I tried multiple ports, etc. PC recognizes when I plug my s7e in.
What am I doing wrong? Do I possibly have a bad usb-a - usb-a cable (I just bought this one, don't have another). Should I be using the usb-c cable with another adapter (I doubt that's the case...). Do I just need a usb-c - usb-a cable?
Anyways I guess it's time for me to put my VZW sim in for now and enjoy it until I figure this out.
Thanks!!
If you have USB Debugging enabled in developer options, once you plug it into the PC, you'll pull down the notification area and change the USB Connection Options from charging to transfer files.

Try a different cable. Preferably a USB-A to USB-C cable. With the original Pixel, it was quickly discovered the phone was very picky about what cable you use to try and connect/communicate with a computer. With my 2 XL, I've been using the white USB-A to USB-C cable that came with my original Pixel and I've had no issues. The computer recognizes the phone every time and all ADB/Fastboot functionality has been flawless.
You can get the cable directly from Google, here:
https://store.google.com/product/usb_c_usb_a_2

Alternatively, if you have other USB-A to USB-C cables around the house, try those out.
My Pixel 2 XL needed a reboot after I set it up before computer would recognize. Before I rebooted it would just ding a few times then go back to Charging.
