Yup. Except that in OG the popup video feature can be done across any android version (even in miui) but in iytb you can have that feature in oreo ROMs only(PiP).
Thanks dude, I'd been looking for his so bad. No matter if you've not modded it. Thanks a lot for sharing this. Love you man! ?? Working like a charm. I'm on Nitrogen OS 8.1.0.

have tried cm9, aokp by ho!no!, paranoid android by andasa but the problem is same in all !
gallery lags a lot and is unable to generate thumbnails for hd videos & movies and sometimes pics too, so it is obviously impossible to play them via gallery !
video playback works fine with mxplayer or any other player but i want to play them with default video player through gallery !
any workaround or solution for this ?
thanks.

just want it in cm9/aokp/pa !
Some things to try...
* Before starting up the Gallery, long-press Home and swipe-away EVERYTHING that's running. This ensures full resource availability before starting the Gallery.
* If you use SetCPU, make sure you're not in a throttled down setting...Or manually set to max while using Gallery
* Settings > Developer options > Force GPU rendering. Try on or off to see if that makes a diff
* Settings > Performance > Memory Management. Play around with some of those settings to see if it helps.
Good luck!

Hey guys,
Lately I almost gave up on Instagram because of the freezing and black pictures when it did succeed.. But I think I've found a "fix" for this, there is an option in Instagram now to enable high quality, as default it was disabled, after I enabled this option all my problems were gone..!! You can find the options for Instagram in the app at your profile page, at the top right there is a menu button, click it and scroll down to "options" and open "advanced functions" there it is..
Plz let me/everyone know if it worked..

I've noticed that Instagram freezes only when you apply some effect.
I've solved applying the filters with another app (Aviary, it is free on PlayStore. Very nice effects!) and then i share the photo with Instagram
Hope it helps
fix
installing Instagram to the Internal Storage fixed this ! ...but filters don't work all the time
I'm using MildWild's Rom (HTC Desire), it has this option to install apps to your internal, even though app2sd is installed
other solutions I found(didnt work for me, might work for others) were:
-Instagram>Settings>Advanced Features>Use HQ Image Processing
-Go to Developer Settings>Force GPU Rendering
-Crop/resize to 612by612 before uploading (Filters work if I use this)
-Dont use filters
-Use instagram itself to take teh pictures
---- my Instagram btw: amclouds

I just found out that when at the lower fhd resolution, watching a video doesn't automatically bump up the resolution to max Wqhd+.
Is there a way to keep resolution at the for normal use to save battery, but bump it up when say..playing games or watching videos?
Yes, Use Bixby Routines and add below condition:
If > App Opened (Video, Youtube)
Then > Resolution to WQHD+

Many thanks.
Why didn't I think of this before? You should post this in the battery and SOT threads, it's just genius.
Well Bixby routines are new so we are not used to its presence and features that may be useful
Hadn't noticed these before, looks quite useful and easier than Tasker to setup for simple things. Good find.
This isnt working for me.
I still have 1080p as max resolution in YT even tho WQHD is supposed to be turned on.

Tried but not working at all
So it doesn't work? Did anyone get it to work?
For YouTube it's surely not working since it doesn't depend on the screen's resolution.
You can't force the official app to always stream at given resolution. Bixby Routines can only automatically set the screen to WQHD+, not the quality of the stream.
YouTube it doesn't work. Anyone know how to have 1440p working on youtube?

FreeDCam is a feature-packed (although a bit ugly) open-source camera app allowing to use all the A32 cameras, including the wide-angle and the infrared one. It works more or less fine right off the box but it has one problem: no shooting video from all the cameras, just from the first two. To overcome this limitation I've hand-built a new media profiles file (media_profiles.xml), which is attached.
NOTICE: you should run FreeDCam at least once before pushing the files because the settings directory (troop.com.freedcam/files) is not yet created until the app was first run.
Push the file into the phone using adb (Debug mode):
adb push media_profiles.xml /storage/self/primary/Android/data/troop.com.freedcam/files/
The profiles are for use with the Camera2 API. If you have not turned it on then go to Phh Treble Settings > Misc features > Force Enable Camera2API HAL3. You also have to set Phh Treble Settings > Samsung features > Enable access to all cameras. If the camera image freezes (although the app itself works) then switch back to the picture mode, completely restart the app (exit then manually remove it from the recents list), then go to the app settings and select a video profile for each camera while staying in the Picture mode. There is also some kind of bug in the app which causes any new settings not to be saved unless it's completely restarted in the way I mentioned before. I also recommend switching audio source to Camcorder as it seems to be a bit more sensitive, although the recorded sound will be only in the left channel.
UPDATE: the version 4.3.82 may crash after upgrade. I have re-made the media_profiles.xml file, but that was not enough, so I had to tweak the main settings file (set the default video profile for all cameras), which is also attached. Push it using the following command:
adb push freed_config.xml /storage/self/primary/Android/data/troop.com.freedcam/files/
The default profile is HEVC-1440p-30fps-24mbps, as it provides the best video quality. In the settings I have also turned off all the unnecessary image processing for all cameras, because such processing destroys details, and in whole can be done later using much better methods.
wow that worked! i hate the camera UI and how hard it is to use but its working so yeah
Just noticed using any android 13 GSI e.g. spark os. the freedcam app doesnt detect any camera except front and main back camera. no ultra wide. tried pushing the media profiles too didnt fix. i have enabled camera2apihal3 and expose aux cameras as well as enable access to all cameras in phh treble settings.

Me too have the same issue. Haven't find any solution yet
Can you share the link YouTube you have it? So I can compare with a different device.
Hello, I have a xiaomi poco f3 and experienced something similar but worse (youtube videos showing weird pixels and colors or noise like display at parts of the video, like a broken tv signal). I tried moving from miui 14 to a custom pixel OS but it did not solve the issue. Another thing I experienced is that 240p and below it was working flawlessly, anything above and I'd get the glitches. Likewise, other platforms like twitch.tv worked perfectly. Trying revanced youtube, root version or not, did not work for me. I pinpointed the problem to the vp9 codec, which is used by youtube videos when setting resolution above 240p. The following things worked for me:
a) Whats your refresh rate? Try setting it at 120hz at all times (other options like setting it automatically or per app won't do, for my pixelOS, it was "force peak refresh rate" in Display settings). This solution worked for me globally, including the youtube app, but increases battery consumption.
b) Browser only solution, that works without forcing max refresh rate at all times (and thus saving battery): use the enhanced-h264ify extension, available for android only for kiwi browser, afaik. There, in the addon options, block vp8, vp9 and av1 (iirc they all came pre checked)
