Any news on this, here in Oz we've been abandoned by LG to having only Android 9...
Everytime we ask about it LG says it's up to Google to release the update... What a crock since the rest of the world has it, we are the ONLY country yet to get Android 10...
This might give a little love to our forgotten, EXPENSIVE FLAGSHIP...
Last time I'm buying LG I'll tell you that...

He's already shown that it's possible, give them time to develop the steps/guide to do it. Don't ask for ETAs, basic XDA rule.

Hi guys! Please be patient as there were some bricked devices.
All korean V50 can have this and also some G8.
If you dont have patience, join telegram group V50 and ask for help from Vlad48 aka VL48. White user also has the knowledge and also contributed a lot to this, but he doesnt speak english that good and you may get confused in doing things that will brick your phone.
I'm waiting to make an ALL IN ONE guide with everything in that ADB folder so that we will donwload just one file.
Almost all bricked devices so far were because of WRONG file placement inside adb folder if you believe it ...

That's no worries, not wanting an ETA.
Sorry, went off on a tangent there earlier due to overwork and night shift.
As I said, here in Oz we've been stranded with Android 9, security update is for Oct 19, with no Android 10 release in sight and only excuses and buck passing from LG.
Do we know if this will allow Android 9 to be rooted and, finally, be updated to the latest OS?
Cheers guys...

Yeah, there may be an issue there... You can only use temp root on Android 10. Specifically what phone model (carrier/region that the phone is from) do you have? I don't mean your current carrier necessarily, just the branding of your model.

It's the LM-V500EM, like Europe, however, it is distributed exclusively through Australia by Telstra.
This means we can't upgrade using another country's firmware but also, as we aren't part of Europe and UK, we can't unlock the bootloader. :crying:
Again, every time LG is asked about newer firmware the finger is pointed at Google.
When Telstra is asked, mostly just the sound of silence but if you do hear whispers it's no firmware has as yet been supplied and to check with the manufacturer of the device.
Google also has the advice Telstra give about the updated firmware which puts LG in the drivers seat and they're still sitting at the bar at the start of happy hour as far as Australia is concerned, and every hour is happy hour..
Hence we need to be able to unlock the bootloader and root to update our expensive and, supposedly flagship device.
You understand the frustration and impatience...

should we be looking for a brand in particular of the phone beside the korean one? Plannign to upgrade my v30

Hi, i recommend v50 koreans due to battery life and 5g.
G8 Sprint is now bl unlockable at lower price and nice compact form factor

Just got my v50 u+ recently
Cant wait for the script

Can't wait for these guides, thank you to all involved!
If I may make a request, perhaps a guide on how to hide root, using Magisk, so that banking apps can still be used?
Thanks again

That's a pretty generic guide; just use magisk hide and the props config module, but lots of modules may break safety net

I see thanks. If a module breaks safety net, does uninstalling that module mean the device passes safety net again? Or is the device just permanently marked as unsafe?

You might have to wipe data for all the Google apps (or possibly even factory reset), but it shouldn't be permanent

Not to sound like a jerk, but I do think it's a valid question... what is the point of creating a thread promising a comprehensive 'All in one guide' to be 'released shortly', and also posting in the other root thread that a guide will be available, and then nearly a month later, there is still no guide? Again, I don't want to sound like a jerk because you're trying to help, but so far, you have just made empty promises and gotten peoples hopes up but not actually provided anything
(again, not trying to sound harsh, just posting as someone who has been keeping an eye on this for a month and now feeling frustrated)

Sorry, dont have time for this, anyone can make a new thread or admin delete this...
Until then, all is available on telegram.

You're a power user. Can the Huawei Mate 9 Pro keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Huawei Mate 9 Pro. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
This is a weak spot as it's no well known worldwide. Dev's are not too many and custom ROMs or even Official Updates are missing.
Official updates are excellent and fast since android 8 dropped. I usually get security updates the same month they are for. But it's true, no real custom rom development as of yet. Hopefully we get better sw once Project Treble compatible roms are available.
The Phone is good enough. Nothing spectacular. When I got the root sorted by using the Krom root, the phone is stable. I have high hopes and expectations for the resurrection remix ROM via the openkirin project, in my opinion the best ROM out there.

Would you please explain how did you root your phone with mentioned method (kroom root) ?
Do you think I will be able to root my phone Huawei Mate 9 PRO (LON-L29 8.0.0.378(C432)
I have been searching for root for a long time now, but I am very confused since there isn't really good community around this model.
I hope somebody will be able to help rooting my phone.
Thank you in advance guys

Assuming you have unlocked the bootloader.
You can download Krom from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9-pro/development/kangvip-rom-b354-mate-9-pro-links-t3790605
When you unzip the rom files, you will find Run.bat Run that file and when it's time to install, you get to the install menu, you select option 2 instead of option 1. Your phone will then be rooted and reboot. Enjoy.

But in download section of kangvip roms the latest version of kangvip is m9pro... E.8..370, mine is 378 do you think it is going to be problem if I use that, or should I try to downgrade somehow?

Thank you very much for the support. I am still searching for the best way to get root to bypass safetynet. It seems like magisk root is best way to do so. I am also looking for twrp supports decryption, I might have found one I didn't try it yet. This is the link https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/development/recovery-twrp-3-2-1-0-t3783353

Well I guess I will not be able to root after all since I don't have the bootloader code. I contacted Huawei support, they do not promise anything but there is still a tiny hope.
I know there is options like DC unlocker etc but I didn't get / read any confirmation about that anyone have successfully rooted their mate 9 pro [No EXTERNAL SD double sim version (LON-L29)] with a DC given code.
In this point I don't know what to do. Even if if I somehow manage to get the bootloader code I still need to find proper magisk root method. Mate 9 pro has no good community unfortunately.
I know my next phone is gonna be root friendly device like One Plus 6 or Google phone etc.
I hate not having full control of my own device.

I'm with you on this one.
Owning this device has taught me a few life long lessons:
1. Buy a popular phone, more spare parts, cheaper repair
2. Buy a popular phone, more community support and custom ROMs
3. Buy a popular phone, cheaper, especially second hand, which I personally prefer
4. Buy a popular phone, got an issue? Someone else already solved it
5. ???
6. Profit

Don't buy a V30 if you want root

Unless you buy one of the models direct from LG (H930 (EU) or H930G (EU) with LG's blessing to unlock the bootloader (ya know, you have to kiss a little a**, void your warranty, and sacrifice your first born) , the V30 will never be rooted. Also, the H932 (T-Mobile) variant might eventually be rooted, maybe, sorta, kinda if a kernel exploit is found. However it looks like on this model that unlocking the bootloader only stop the AVB check on the boot partition -- recovery appears to still be checked.
They have:
* Encrypted the firmware. Yep, there is no reverse engineering it, because what is in the KDZ or on the NAND is encrypted. When the phone loads the firmware, it gets decrypted into RAM.
* Locked lafd down even further. The hack that is going to get us root, won't work on the V30, and you can bet your rear that when Oreo comes out for the V20, LG will update lafd.
** Over the weekend I pulled down KDZs from every model (that has one) of the G5, V20 and G6. I was looking at the possibility to flash an older version of LAF that is still exploitable.
In order for that to succeed, the AVB signature of the laf partition had to match the stock LAF so that abl would load it. No luck in finding one. LG is now using different certs:
1 - signing the firmware
2 - AVB (boot, recovery, laf)
3 - lafd (the SIGN opcode)
* This next one is just speculation because all the pieces aren't in place yet, but it looks like my fear that LG would go to encrypted OTA updates, and completely remove LAF will be coming soon.
So, as soon as my phone gets back, I will finish the work on the LAFsploit, and then wait for the OnePlus 6 or RAZER 2. I will be buying a developer friendly phone that ships with Oreo, so they will have project Treble.

I appreciate that man.
Just for the heck of it I pulled down firmware for the OnePlus 5T to see how they do things. It is really no different. Their firmware is encrypted as well (this looks like it is a SD835 thing -- the 845 is going to be even worse).
The only reason that phone is so popular is the fact that there are no hoops to jump through to unlock the bootloader.
I am still looking for an OEM that will sell me not only the phone, but the KEYS to the phone. I would love to be able to sign my OWN bootloader. What if you bought a PC, and were stuck with Windows.
These days, a phone IS a PC -- and I want to run whatever I want to. If I want to repartition the NAND, it is my RIGHT to do so. We are stuck in this situation because we have ALLOWED these companies to get away with it -- I guess we get what we deserve.
-- Brian
And honestly it's not going to change because the average person doesn't care about or to know what a bootloader is. And if you say "root" to them they are waiting for "beer" to be the next word following that.
Thanks for the warning but this is the V20 forum. We are not going to buy a V30.

I totally agree. I was a Note fan until the Note 8, which even if you get the international version it has significant problems with rooting and customization.
I will absolutely be looking at the OnePlus 6 and Pixel 3 and Essential phones just for the ability to customize.
And Brian, @runningnak3d let us know which phone you are going to because I will probably follow you. Thanks for the work you have done on this phone.
Cheers!
I got the oneplus 5t for the wife and it's sweet! It reminds me of the good old days when root didn't require months of effort. What the devs like you OP, did for this phone makes it easy to hold on to till the 6t. Probably the longest continuous run on the same ROM I have ever had. Unbranded is the future on XDA I guess.

Yes it is international, bootloader unlockable. You can flash EU OPEN firmware on it too if you want to get rid of all carrier branding and bloat. I imported one from Italy too, from TIM carrier. Got a good deal for 659 EUR.

Second, yes I have unlocked bootloader but this was necessity because phone i have bought was came with Chinese ROM.

Yes..... Your Opening Post Was Ranting ( A Little ).. And Crucifing Xiaomi..
Google is "Tightening" things up with all the corruption going on in the Cyberworld these days..
They want only Certified devices.. because they simply are the Most Secure.
Do A Full Wipe.. install a Stock Recovery & Stock ROM ( 9.5.13.0 runs like silk.. ) and Welcome Back to the world of Secured Devices.. * Accepted Everywhere*
Unlocked Bootloader, Miuipro 10 8.6.21 + Magisk

How come that these devices are still Uncertified on Google Play Store?
These devices are getting third or forth iteration of ROM but they are still Store Uncertified, how is this possible?!

Some Xiaomi phones have a vendor rom, typically purchased from chinese websites to bypass the playstore ban in China. They will show up as uncertified I think. Or if you experiment with the beta rom, these are also uncertified.

Phone is on STOCK Global ROM!
In fact, i have downloaded ROM v9.5.14 and flashed on phone with adb sideload. so i even didn't use custom recovery for ROM flashing!
And yes, phone is Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 AI version, not Pro!

As was mentioned above, unlocked bootloader is enough to make you uncertified. If you unlock bootloader, you must also use magisk to be certified again.
OK. Great! Excellent! Super duper!
Is it possible to go with fastboot version of Global ROM, and use flash_all_lock.sh to achieve device store certification?
Thank's!
@Jehonan This is most likely due to the fingerprint line in build.prop, i experienced the same issue when i flashed the latest MIUI 10 and i fixed it by modifying that line, please try to attach build.prop and i will have a look!

Repost: If you are rooted, download and install Preferences Manager from playstore. Grant root and find Google Playstore from the app and search for "device.google-certified" and set to true.
No need to reflash whole rom
Also, Resurrection Remix here. Play store still says certified

Noob Question about note 10+ version

Hi everyone hope you're doing excellent I bought a note 10 plus on november last year suddenly I stopped receiving OTA updates this have at&t logos but its unlocked already I work at an airline and I'm not using at&t sim card since I bought the phone and even with my country's sim card I received ota updates.
I was wondering if its possible to flash it to android 10 currently the phone is running android 9 but when I connect it to the pc smart switch says phone is up to date, same happens when I verify software updates from the phone.
Baseband version: N975USQU1ASGO
My questions are:
- Can I flash the phone using any of the android 10 firmwares in the forum? or do I have to make sure it will be compatible with some specific versions?
- If I flash the phone it will it still be unlocked?
thank you.
Don't know.
I would leave it on Pie; stable, fast and well behaved.
Scope storage and the trouble it may cause hasn't been dragged out into the sunlight yet... plus the older apks it probably will break that have no replacement.
If you do load Q let us know what you think.

From the lines above we know it's not locked but caution because it isn't rooted neither.

Possible, yes ... if it's desirable only you can determine after acknowledging de pros and cons of the upgrade. As @blackhawk pointed out, there are some caveats to be considered. Nevertheless please be advised that this is your decision and none here can be responsible for mistakes or misfortunes that may occur. It's all on you.

If these are real issues, I would suggest tackling them with the upgrade and if not solved, even downgrade back.

Your baseband version if circa 2019-08-18 so ... pretty ancient for any device freak terms (like last century)

The above question has more than an answer:
a) The firmwares available in the forum are for rooted devices so the answer is NO. None firmware available here is fitted for you present setup (the "but" comes later)
b) Yep ... you have to keep compatibility of your hardware with the firmware you flash. Your devide is a N975U so you shall restrict only for the respective family.
And now comes the "but" ...
The firmwares in the below list shall fit your hardware. They are official Samsung releases for the hardware you've mentioned.
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/SM-N975U/USC/
The above list was filtered only with USA (No carrier) options because, as you've said, it's unlocked.
The complete list is @ https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/#SM-N975U and it contains the carrier locked ones too.
You will have to search and read about "flashing with odin". To speed up the download use Samfirm after reading some howtos about it too ... https://samfirmtool.com/

Question Custom ROM - moto G40 & G60

Dear all. Recently bought a G40F and ever since I was on the lookout for custom ROM support. more specifically, a well tested and "straight forward" custom ROM installation sequence. for a noob like me that's very important.
although Moto shares their kernel source code to custom rom devs, the ROM scene for G40/G60 is nowhere comparable to other phones like Poco X3. Im guessing thats because it's launched only in the Indian market(so far) and it hasnt attracted a lot of devs worldwide. well, its a shame tbh.
I have scoured the internet and was disappointed to find nothing of that sort. just a pile of generalized guides(beware of bricking) which is just copy pasted for every devices out there, probably for clicks and running ads. Yet, thank god I found this guy Selva Kumar A. He wrote a detailed guide and tested it on his own G40, and also has a guide if you happen to brick it.
once again, i am a noob and this would be my first custom ROM. So don't take my word for it. I am here reaching out to the community hoping to find better opinions and corrections to the techniques mentioned above. If any Devs reading this, please spare some time to evaluate this. bricking my phone is such a nightmare, but I want root access and try out some cool stuff.
Bootloader is not unlockable at the moment
Correct me if I'm wrong.
With an unlocked bootloader I can root the phone.
whereas for installing a custom ROM I should wait until a developer makes one that'd fit g40f, which also requires a unlocked bootloader

bro I'm guessing you're that youtuber no? Would you suggest I return this phone and wait until Poco x4 or something that'd have a big community support, hence custom roms n everything

As per my understanding, someone has to make a custom tailored rom to fit every model that's out there
Yeah , but bootloader's not unlockable right now!
Unlocking through adb , it says failed to load unlock data
Moto saif we are working to solve it!

Yeah already its there
50% build is already complete, rest needs an unlocked G40, if you somehow unlock BL of G40, reach Dev's through official moto G40/g60 Tlgrm group

Some tweaks needed but it needs the unlocked G40, if you somehow unlock BL , join thr tgm group you will get everything
