Really you need to start a new thread in this forum with a "Question" label to ask your question.
Hopefully your reset will fix things but if not give as many details as possible.
For example, I'm puzzled about you:
having two Edge "E" signals... have you got two SIMs installed?
Does your phone contract include 5G? Just because the phone is 5G capable does not mean you can use it unless the contract includes it.
A phone will default back to a slower connection if the signal is not quite strong enough where you are. I'm in a 5G area but frequently I don't get 5G.
Perhaps in "Settings" the phone band has been set to use 4G?
Regarding all the about type things you need to say what you've done and checked. It just makes things a bit easier for anyone who may try to help you.
Mike

Hi guys. Is there a way to add the Moto G22 section to this forum?

lost active sync

i am sorry if this has been asked before.
i have watching you guys on here for a while now.long story short, i got shafted on ebay. i bought a herm100, fantastic, then it got barred via imei.
i have tried everything but was scared to ask on here because, every time i see that someone does ask 4 help with this sort of thing he gets shot down by one of the senior members as a noob, or worse a thief.
anyway i have now managed to really screw my new toy up by editing something or other( cant remember what). and now i have no active sync.
i have tried to hard\soft reset but stop Nada.
please can somebody help this noob at least get it to work as a pda again,i don't care about using as a phone as i still have my spv c550.
again if this has already been asked i apologize to all those senior members who get upset about that sort of thing. but it is not that easy to find what u are looking for, when u don't know what to look for, among the 1000's of threads on here.
The easiest way to make it works as a PDA after you chaning something is HARD RESET.

May be stating the obvious, but did you follow these instructions for a 'hard reset'? It's different than a soft-reset...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Resets
This reverts your device to it's original factory settings (unless of course you've flashed an updated or cooked ROM). To learn how to do that, go to the link above, then to the Hemes WIKI:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Hermes
Scroll down and look through the sections "Hacks & Tweaks", "Upgrading and Cooking", and "Upgrading Problems:".
Good Luck

ty for your reply i have found the fault now it wasnt my pda it was my usb hub that has gone down. only noticed when i tried to make a call on voip and had no mike.
like i said on my original thread i have been watching this site for a couple of months now after paying htc 20gbp to unlock my c500.
i have managed to unlock all my phones myself since then with what i have found on here. and this has been my first post.
bty i have already upgraded my rom to pro black 3.0 radio1.41.
once again ty very much.
now i will wait and keep serching 4 a way to reset my imei
don't think you can reset yr imei as it is the manufacturer's way to identify your machine during assembling.
my advice, sell it off, to another country and get a new one.
chances are yr imei is only blocked with operators in your country.
cheers, Leo
i will find out next month going to thailand for holiday i will see then
in the mean time i am looking for a new mainboard. cause that will fix it 4 sure

A question for xda gurus

Hi,
About two months ago during one of the numerous rom flashings on my SPVM3100 , I came across a strange issue. I called Orange many times and they changed my SIM card twice but finally said they don't understand this and gave it up. My SPVM3100 is over two years old - so they're not gonna replace the device.
Here's the issue:
whenever someone leaves me a voice mail, instead of receiving the normal "voice mail" notification and it's icon in Today screen, I receive a text message! These texts are unreadable (consisting of only 2 signs, like a triangle sign and an @ sign. Or an @ sign with an underline sign _).
Whenever I receive such texts , I know that I have a voice mail ! I dial the voice mail service, listen to the voice message and delete it. But each time my voice mail box becomes empty another annoying text is sent to me - perhaps cofirming that the mail box is now empty (I wish I could read this new sign language )
The phone shows that the texts are coming from the SIM Card !! (so we thought that perhaps the SIM has problems and that's why Orange changed my SIM Card twice).
This is really annoying.
The Orange tech people exhausted their knowledge for the past 2 months but couldn't solve this problem , gave it up altogether , and are now asking me to contact HTC ! (which I'm sure would be useless).
That's why I'm asking this from xda developers and gurus to see if they have any explanation for this bizarre behavior of my device.
Thanks for any insight and sorry to make a thread for this annoying issue.
have you tried flashing with a different rom? i know similar things would happen on motorola phones, and required hex editing of certain files to turn that feature off.

Fallen,
A six-month-old critically annoying problem was solved in 30 seconds
I am sure we all know xda developers and gurus are genius.
As I said in the post, almost all technical guys & gals in Orange did literally exhaust all their knowledge & experience in the past six months to solve this issue but it was obvious that they didn't absolutely have any clue what the cause of the problem was; whereas Olipro had found the cause and the remedy very quickly.
This is really serious because Orange is a huge multi-billion corporation and they claim to have their own top developers/programmers/technicians and yet they shamelessly suck !
Now on to my second question :
On almost all original (HTC and AT&T) ROMs , the HTC Home Plugin shows the network as "Orange". But on some of the cooked ROMs the network is shown as "UMTS Orange". I know the meaning of UMTS and I understand that whether the network is shown as "Orange" or "UMTS Orange" the phone appears to function the same.
I just want to know what happens in some cooked ROMs that the phone recognizes the network of the SIM card as "UMTS Orange" and not the usual "Orange" ? I talked to some Orange technicians, their replies are really rediculous - one of them kept saying: "you must change your mobile settings" ! But she didn't have a clue what she was talking about as she didn't know where those damn "mobile settings" were and how they could be changed! I can swear she had never held an SPVM3100 or a Kaiser in her hand.
I've searched the forum but haven't been able to find a clear answer yet. I am asking this question just to improve my personal knowlege on this issue.
Thank you for your guidance and insight.
hey,
I get the same problem too when installing new Cooked ROMs.
In order to get rid of the 'UMTS' in front of the Operator name you have to edit a registry entry.
Use a registry editor and navigate to: HKLM---> Software---->OEM---->Phone Setting
In there find an entry labelled 'Enable3GLongName' And change it from 1 to 0.
Restart you're device and it should just say 'Orange'
Hope that works

Thanks bro. Yesterday, before reading your reply I reflashed my device and
this nwe Binky11's V3.8 ROM got it right. So for now, I don't need to do the registery; however, I made a note of your advice for future reference.
I should keep reading to see what happens in most cooked WM6.1 ROMs that they get the network name as such and why the original ROMs get it right.
Thank you very much for your reply.

HTC desire radio problem with r5 root

Hay there,
a week a go i rooted my phone with the r5 root using the guide at theunlockr.
now it seems that i have som difficulties with calling and people calling me ( might be sms also)
Sometimes when i call someone it goes for around a sec ( cant even hear the *biiiip* sound.) and then the phone spits out a tiny *pip* just like someone is hanging up on you. I know that the person doesnt hang up. ive tested it with 2 phones.
other times it says that the number i am calling is not in use.
does anyone else have the same problems ?
How can i totally reset my phone to default ? Will there be a warranty problem if i send it in ? since software change is in the picture.
if you guys needs more info just ask

You've posted in the wrong sub forum. Go HERE and you should get the help you need. As far as i can work out if you go to the thread in there with the Generic official roms (Its one of the stickied threads) and pick the one your phone came with and use that it will put it back to as it came and unrooted, and so should be good for warranty.
One other thing. Are you sure its not a network or sim card problem problem?

DHD Going to Voicemail

I've had my DHD for a few days now.
Originally it was locked to 3 and sold to me as brand new and still sealed in its box. All I've done is put my old sim (from my iphone) in and unlock it to my carrier (O2) and installed a few apps, etc,
However I've noticed that the majority of my calls are goiung direct to VM and that I'm not getting alerted to new VM's.
I've seen a few threads around (here and other forums) that talk about this being "the norm" when gprs is in use - either fore of background use.
So my question is ... how do I identify what is using gprs or is there some way of turnign it on/off whenever I want to use it? Not being able to receive calls just because I checked my emails or similar is ludicrous. Never had this issue with my iphone ...
Any help for this HTC / Android newbie would be great.

Softbank htc desire apn and internet

Hi everyone.
I have been looking high and low for a straight answer on this, but none exist. Softbank staff are less then helpful.
So, the situation,
HTC Desire , global unlocked, i believe from hong kong
Softbank Black Sim Card.
I am trying to get this to work and set the APN settings. Im starting to think that when connecting to their network it will detect it as a foreign phone
so, if someone knows, please share how to do the following;
1. Root phone and change settings to register as Japanese mobile
2. Setup APN
if anyone can help that would be great!!
Hey there,
I'm not too exactly sure about your first question, but I *think* I can help you with your second.
Correct me if I am wrong, but you want to set up your APN to Softbank?
If so, you should probably refer to this thread
It basically explains what you need to fill in under your APN fields.
Hope that helps
hey man thanks for the reply
that was the first site i found and doesnt work. it says the apn is configured wrong. would have been gold if it worked, but doesnt. sad....
Sorry about that :/
All is not lost though. I remember when I first got my phone, I was roaming the internet and I found this blog where this Android owner who is/was living in Japan.
Give me a few moments to see if I can find it.
At worse case, you could always contact the owner for his help on his APN settings and the sorts.
Edit: http://www.desire.giesecke.tk/ seems to be the place.
The website contains mods made by the owner on top of custom roms found on XDA. Some (or most) of his ROM mods comes with this "Softbank APN (special Desire version)". Although, if you are not too keen on flashing a ROM over what you have, you could just ask him how he did it.
I hope that helps
wow thats great! i NEED to talk to that guy.
I dont care about rooting, flashing, etc, as long as i can get this bad boy to work.
my friedn is saying it might be a little easier, all i have to do is change the strong name, which i beleive requires rooting.
i am going to try a few things this week i guess and see how we go. I am really going to try and find that one guy though and see if he can help me out in this.
I wish you all the best. Let me know how it goes
