[ROM][UNOFFICIAL] LineageOS 19.1 for Nexus 5 (hammerhead) [DISCONTINUED] - Nexus 5 Original Android Development

LineageOS 19.1 is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12.1 (S), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
The source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

ROM Installation
To install rom you should increase the /system partition size
This can be done for example with TWRP HH.R
[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP HH for Nexus 5 (hammerhead)
TWRP HH for Nexus 5 About: TWRP is an open source, community project. TWRP development is done by roughly 4 people at this point. We also have a large support community with many people who are willing to answer questions and help people with...

GAPPS Installation
LineageOS Team have recommendations about GAPPS
My recommendation is BiTGapps for Android 12.1.0 for arm devices.
Google apps should be installed via recovery immediately after installing LineageOS. If you reboot into LineageOS before installing Google apps, you must factory reset and then install them, otherwise expect crashes.

ROM Build
To make your own build of LineageOS 19.1 please use my trees with manifests from LineageOS-UL github.

Thanks for keeping building for this beloved device.

Thanks for your great work!
Do you think I can go without resizing if I don't want to use gapps?

I think that isnt possible on A11 maybe even A10 anymore

Thanks for your fast reply. Then I will resize

New build (20230219) with february security patch is out!
Please don't ask me for OTA or any bug fixes.
I don't have Nexus 5 anymore and can't provide proper support.

Just to let you know...
19.1-20221126 is a DREAM. Very fast, extreme battery life, everything works (camera via OpenCamera)
19.1-20230219 - not that fast, long app launch, very short battery life (missing deep sleep mode, imo), camera unusable (stutter typical for Nexus 5 custom roms)
18.1 was almost as good as the 19.1-20221126
20.0 is like 19.1-20230219
I don't use any kind of gapps.
Thank you for keeping this legendary device alive, even though you don't have one

New build (2023-05-12) with May security patch is out!
PS: Android 13 and Android 12 roms can't pass new Play Integrity protection. That means that your device will be not certified in Play Market. The only workaround for now is Magisk with it modules. If someone know how to fix it on rom side (without Magisk) then please let me know.

There is no need to fight here. My work is open source and everyone is free to make use of my commits. @althafvly is a friend of mine, and the trees he used are his own, with help from the community, including some of my commits. Asim has done great work in keeping the Motorola msm8916 family going with new versions of Android while I've been busy with other things.
We may have different approaches, and different standards and practices for official LineageOS trees, but I fully respect the work of Asim.

Definitely don't stop, it is awesome to have a pie build for lux- there is almost no dev keeping this branch alive, you are most welcome!

If you want it's possible for me for help in the development of this rom with my second moto x play. But i don't understand anything in development language. It's possible for me to give the logs if you explain me how.
The install open gapps android 9.0 no works fine for me. The phone crah after start
seems to run clean and fast for what it does, nicely done.

Its only when one starts playing with these builds that one truly realises the work the devs put in, to keeping our stuff working, my admiration grows.

I wiped all: System, Vendor, Cache and Data.
First time TWRP wont find the cache partition probably as it is remapped so it will throw an error but from the next instances, it shall continue normally.

I installed the firmware using the Sky Hawk Recovery Project. The system has booted up. Rebooted to install gapps. Instead of SHRP, I got into Recovery LineageOS 18.0 with limited capabilities. I flashed TWRP via Fastboot. Booted and configured the system. Mostly it turned out to be working. Auto brightness seems to be buggy, but I don't remember the details. All this happened late at night on October 29th. After rebooting, I ended up in Recovery LineageOS 18.0 again. Rebuilt TWRP again and returned to Havoc OS v3.9. This is the best firmware for YSL in my opinion. Sadly 4.0 is not expected, but thanks for your hard work.
Surprised
Thank you so much, i upgraded from LOS 17.1 to this new one yesterday. At first i got frustrated because after flashing, the rom got stuck at recovery boot. I realised that the android system of LoS 17.1 and this LoS 18 are different haha. Los 18 had lates android 11 apparently. Then the system suggested me to factory reset data, so i let go my all data to be deleted. After that it rebooted again and surprisingly it landed to the home screen. It means it worked. Until now I'm still enjoying and looking for the features. The bug i found for now is when i charge the phone in shutdown mode. There is no charging animation and redmi logo appears.

I'm not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed (like it did for me...).
Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in the products you find here before flashing it!
YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Your warranty will be void if you tamper with any part of your device / software.
Same statement for XDA.

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 9 (pie), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Some testing feedback I have:
I tested installing over firmware version ending in C.06 to see what happens and it broke Wi-Fi. So I reinstalled over C.05 to fix that, but only have 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (could be a 2.4GHz-only device anyway, If I use stock OS again then I'll check and report back here again)
On the installation I'm using now (which was installed over C.05), I noticed A2DP isn't working but Bluetooth telephone calls is working.
Screen brightness setting seems to be too low after a restart.
Not sure if this is specific to this port of LineageOS, but I have a SIM plan which uses 3G for calls and LTE for data when not on a call. Sometimes I switch the phone to LTE only mode to prevent calls from coming in If I wish to not be disturbed. (The setting is under *#*#4636#*#*). The issue I noticed is the device doesn't stay in LTE only mode and reverts automatically back to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE prl" mode.

Here is a logcat taken just after toggling the "Media audio" switch a couple of times while connected to a Bose bluetooth speaker and playing audio in a browser. The audio continues to come from the phone speaker.

Recommend you to flash Pixel experience as it is best.
I have tried all the ROMs in this thread including linage OS, cipher OS, wave OS etc. all has WiFi and Bluetooth issues accept pixel plus UI which I am using currently this has quite decent performance and good enough for daily usage.

Pixel Experience comes with GApps. I became interested in custom operating systems because I wanted to get rid of GApps, so I'll stick to TechyMinati's (who is the OP on this thread) CipherOS builds. https://sourceforge.net/projects/cipheros/files/Cipher-3.x/GRAVITY/RMX2185/

Have you tested it, is there any bugs please tell me some information about it.
Could you please tell me that can I flash this to my device because in cipher OS 2.0 it needs device into Realme UI 2.0 and this device has never got such update for RUI 2.0
It's still running on RUI 1.0 but currently I am Pixel Plus UI.

It's the best working build I'm aware of. I think even VoLTE is up and running now. Here's the changlog.txt https://github.com/CipherOS/OTA/blob/twelve-L/changelog/changelog_RMX2185.txt#L7

I feel I'm hijacking this thread with a slightly off topic discussion about a different ROM (although from the same developer).
If you want to flash RUI2.0 ROMS, see ┤Mod Edit├┤Telegram link removed├ to learn how to unofficially upgrade your firmware first.
Probably best to start a new thread if you wan't to ask more about installing CipherOS.

AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Android Lollipop, the ROM has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS), we became LineageOS based with some tweaks from AOSP and then changed to be based on the "Ground Zero Open Source Project" (GZOSP) for Android Pie.
We changed again for Android Q-R with a base of AOSP repositories and some additions from LineageOS for device-specific repositories.
If there are any bugs we will sort them out if it concerns our codebase. This ROM isn't LineageOS supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*

We recommend MindTheGapps as it has been thoroughly tested and it works well with the ROM, some other minimal GApps packages still have issues, however feel free to try other GApps if you want to, just try MindTheGapps if you have any GApps related issues

FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Yes, just look here to see what day your device is built on.
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels officially?
A. No. You can still use them, but the discussion should go in the thread of the respective kernel. We don't offer support for bugs you might encounter while using them!
Q. Does this ROM include GApps or do I have to flash them separately?
A. No, we do not include prebuilt GApps, because of possible licensing issues with Google Software and because some users do not want GApps preinstalled as they want to use alternative services like MicroG or just prefer flashing a GApps "flavor" of their liking.
Q. Does this ROM use the camera or gallery app from stock?
A. It depends on the device. In most cases these apps include proprietary libs/code and cannot be included in the device trees on Github or we risk having the ROM banned from Github. In this case, we might try to make them installable (separate from the ROM zip), or we might provide a version of these apps with the ROM that doesn't include any proprietary libs. It's also sometimes the case that these apps are simply not included because we didn't feel the need to do so for the device in question.
Q. Does this ROM have Extended/Scrolling screenshot?
A. No, extended screenshot was implemented using an app extracted and modified from manufacturer firmware/system images and is proprietary as well. It led to the closing of many ROM's sources on GitHub.
Q. Does this ROM have FaceUnlock?
A. No, FaceUnlock was also an app extracted and modified from some manufacturers. Even Google removed the Trusted Face (FaceUnlock) feature for security reasons on Android 9.0/10.x. Adding the modified feature did the same to ROM sources as described above.
Q. Can you add (insert favorite weather provider)?
A. No, we cannot add more weather providers as the implementations change and we (the ROM) now have to pay for most services, and that is not cheap, so we decided to use the best free service that we could find, the only way to add your own is for users to apply for their own API key to use their preferred service.
Q. Does this ROM have private official builds with the above proprietary libs included?
A. No, we believe in open source software, this way users know what's in the build and can replicate it themselves, all official builds are built on our build servers using the public sources from github and no one can (or would) add their own private sources to the build.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A. Yes, this is the usual behavior on flashing a new official build by (or using) the build-in updater service.
Q. How do I 'dirty flash' builds?
A. Wipe the System, Cache, and ART/Dalvik cache. Flash the ROM, GApps (only needed if you wipe the system), your preferred root solution, and reboot. Or just use the OTA app to perform that task for you.
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot" as the destination, then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to lose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to lose root. Now swipe to flash and reboot afterward.
Using the ROM:
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat AND the model name. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. Do not post the content here. Thanks.)
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get, and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section on the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android R. You don't need to install any Add-ons, simply download the latest ROM and GApps, then follow the flashing instructions and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM zip file.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup (or with any backup/restore app) as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug, restoring regular apps is fine though.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know!)
1. Download the ROM and GApps and transfer them to your device.
2. Boot to recovery (OrangeFox Recovery recommended).
3. Wipe the System, Vendor, Cache, and Data (you might need to format the data partition!).
4. Flash the ROM zip file.
5. Flash the GApps (optional, needed for e.g. Google Playstore to work)
6. Reboot and set up your device.
7. Reboot back into TWRP recovery.
8. Flash the root solution of your choice (optional).
9. Reboot your device.
The procedure may vary from device to device and is a bit different on system updates!
The ROM has GApps persistence in between dirty flashes, so you only have to flash them once! This might differ on AvB Devices.
Currently supported Root Solution:
Magisk stable
Magisk versions >= 20.4 don't usually need to be flashed on every dirty flash.
Depending on the device, you may need to flash it every time, unless your maintainer says otherwise, you should be fine.
PREREQUISITE FOR OTA ("Over-The-Air" Updates):
TWRP recovery is needed to be able to flash using the built-in OTA app.
Please make sure that you are on the latest OrangeFox recovery, keep in mind that this could also be an unofficial version!
On encrypted devices, you will have to enter your PIN/password in TWRP before the process starts.

nice
Why does it come without a keyboard? Can't connect to WiFi or login into Play Store because of that.
The ROM feels pretty snappy tho.
I'm on willow (8T) btw.
I'm on willow.
for me, all works perfect, smooth, fabulous battery life !!!!
After three days of use 40% left with 1h 43 min screen on. All the other room I've tried had a lot more battery drain per hour without any usage.
Hi! Few questions:
Does this ROM pass SafetyNet?
In the guide you suggest OrangeFox as recovery, but for OTA you say TWRP is recommended...so which recovery we should flash?

• Pass even without Magisk
• It does support both recovery but I recommend OrangeFox

Hi all , i am on latest at this moment version 31/12/2021 . It seems to me that the sound enhancement does not work as it should. Turning these options on or off will not change the sound quality. For example, the same settings on RedmiNote9S "miatoll" work fine .. and you can clearly hear the difference ..

Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.
