I would like to develop an application which listens for incoming SMS, verify which ones are email notifications and automatically starts Activesync to retrieve emails, synchronize calendar and so on.
Is this feasible?
I have heard that you can't use the sms API as the interface is stolen by the 'phone edition' bit and you have to use the CE MAPI interface instead, working on SMS once they have been stored in the Inbox.
Any experience with this? Code bits?

SMS notifications
You can use the RIL interface to get notification of about anything to do with the GSM part. However, it is not very well documented. If you go to the URL below you'll find a small app that will display notifications for incoming SMS messages and incoming SMS status reports.
However the message part is still encoded! There are some library calls that can decode the message, but I have not yet figured it out.

Easy way is a third party app called Jeyo Extender.
in nokia phones and some other,there is a section for delivery messages.in windows mobile,when you active DELIVERY MESSAGE,it looks like a new message! with subject : SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR

I have enabled this feature. Problem is that those messages are threated as normal sms messages. With my old nokia phone the delivery messages could be found in a separate mailbox that would not ring the phone, but were viewable afterwards.
Does anyone know of this feature for windows mobile 6?
I use Outlook 2007 fairly intensively and would love a way to be able to set up sms sync between phone and outlook in a similar way to email.

I don't think this is possible as I would have done it a long time ago.
However, there is a free program which you can download and when you connect your phone via Active Sync, you can see/send/receive text messages from you PC.
It's called Mobile Express made by Efficasoft
Have you tried 'Microsoft My Phone', you can see and sync all your SMS to and from the internet using your live account.
