"Block Recognizer" not included in non-ENG ROM... - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello everyone, happy new year 2004!
I am used to using the Block Recognizer to write letters and numbers when I had my ENG xdaI. I just got myself the xdaII but the system is in simplified chinese (CHS), its very easy to write in chinese now but not so easy to write letters and numbers. I found all the input methods available in the ENG xdaI are not available in this CHS xdaII.
So I looked up many websites trying to copy the Block Recognizer input method to the CHS system. I have copied all the related registry entries over, now the Block Recognizer is shown on the input method list but its not usable though! There is a file "msim.dll" referred in the related registry entries. I found that this file is available only in the ENG system's "windows" directory but its not in the CHS one.
So I tried to copy the "msim.dll" file from the ENG to the CHS but the pocket pc system blocks me from copying this "system file".
Can someone please advise me how I can copy the file over? It would be best if you can send me the file directly.
Below are the registy keys that I copied/added from the ENG to the CHS system:
\HKCR\CLSID\{4249691-ae04-11d0......
(I copied all the subkeys and values under it)
May I thank you all in advance for your attention!
Beau

Install T9 for other than English

Hi,
In the Windows directory there are files T9EnglishLdb.dll, T9GermanLdb.dll that are responsible for T9 input when typing SMS.
I found T9SlovakLdb.dll and some other languages.
Even if I copy the files into Windows directory the T9 does not work. It probably needs some Registry changes for it to work...
Does anyone know what should I change?
Greetings,
MM, Blue Angel (MDA III) T-Mobile D
yes me too needs such application or registry changes

[Help] Building a rom for Korean

Hi, I was trying to make a Korean Rom for Hermes for quite some time... can you share your sorce for making one and how to? This is what I've tried till now and the qusetions I have...
The Question:
1. How do I install and change the default font of the ROM?
2. How to change the dictionary in your language, settings for your language, t9 dictionary for your language, keyboard layout?
Here is the tutorial I've found: (originaly written by a member of XDA-Developers: Tna)
Step 1
(a)Download your language emulator Files from
(b) install the downloaded file
(c)Take the emulator image that you want from the installation folder.
For example, if you have downloaded the images for Korean language look in the folder "C:\Program Files\Windows Mobile 6 SDK\PocketPC\Deviceemulation\0412":
The image for Hermes is: PPC_KOR_GSM_VR.BIN
(d) extract the emulator files in a new folder.
to extract files from the emulation rom follow this direction:
- Download Tadzio's imgfs
- Unzip the tools along with the emulator image(PPC_KOR_GSM_VR.BIN) in any folder.
- Rename the image to A.BIN (to make the next commands easier to type).
- Open a D.O.S. command window and perform these commands:
Code:
> NBSPLIT -emu A.BIN
(it generates two files: A.BIN.EXTRA and A.BIN.PAYLOAD)
> IMGFSFROMNB A.BIN.PAYLOAD IMGFS.BIN
(it generates the file IMGFS.BIN)
> IMGFSTODUMP IMGFS.BIN
(Now the extracted files are dumped in /Dump directory)
(e) Rename ALL the 4xx files to 412 (e.g. 0412.mui -> 0.409.mui) Apply this to all files and folders (an eyasier way to do that is to search from windows for all *412* files and then rename them)
Step 2
Find your BASE ROM. (e.g. Hermes Black Rom)
Step 3
Download your Kitchen. (e.g. Anichullus Core Professional Kitchen)
Step 4
Dump the BASE ROM (If you use Anichullus Kitchen , follow the manual but Stop BEFORE using Bepe's Package TOOL)
Step 5
Go to DUMP folder (e.g. C:\core\extract\dump) and paste ALL the language files you have
renamed from step 1e. ATTENTION you have to copy and paste ALL files from your
language folder AFTER you have renamed them to 409 . REPLACE duplicate files
Step 6
Continue with kitchen steps . For instance if you were to use Bepe's Package TOOL , go on and build the packages.
Step 7
Edit Initflashes.dat file . Information on how to do that are in every cooking tutorial. In
Intflashes.dat file you will have to translate all the links and directories according to your
language files. CAUTION if you make mistakes in translation your WM6 will be crappy and
programs may not start
->In order to make a good translation check your original rom, or try the WM6 emulator with your language files and check the directory names.
Step 8
Save Initflashes.dat in unicode and remove first two bytes with a hex editor
Step 9
Choose your OEM packages.
about keyboard, you must add with a oem package also:
- dictionary in your language
- settings for your language
- t9 dictionary for your language
- for keyboard layout make this registry mod:
Code:
Registry Editor:
HKCU >> ControlPanel >> Keybd
Create a string "Locale" with "0412" vale. Everything without "Where 0412 is your country value.
Step 10
build your rom according to your kitchen manual
Hi, I have the same dubiousness, where I find the keyboard packages? I'm looking for Keyb Portuguese Brazil(Dictionary, settings, etc)... If anybody know please help me.Thank's.
hi~ nice to meet u. rom cooking is hard to me so i just wondered how to add t9 korean language pack to my english rom. I use my htc t3050 with win mobile 6.5 english rom.
so there are no korean font and no korean locale. how can i do?
I also have blackjack1 and m480(mirage) but that rom is korean rom. if u can help me, please let me know how to find t9 korean language pack and how to install to my english rom. thanks a lot for your text and hope to answer about my text.
if u dont mind, you can answer with korean, that is better for me.. kk
try to find a korean rom with T9 dictionary in your native lang... then dump it using wichever kitchen in the Chef central subforum... dump the rom get the t9 files and replace the ones in the rom of your phone

Some Informations about P525 ROM

Hi,
I put here my tiny experience in P525:
> Extended ROM is found in Autorun.exe in the original Firmware. Just open the Autorun.exe with any
Resource Hacker (e.g. resHacker). You'll find HEX resource, extract it and rename the .bin files to .
cab. I didn't try to modify the cab and repackage it but I guess it would work.
> The Autorun.exe sometimes complains: "the extended rom cannot be applied to this region". I noticed
that changing the registry value: HKLM\MUI\SysLang to the desired value may the Autorun.exe accept the
Language ID!!
> I still search for the tool that can restore the Language ID of the device (How indead programmed the Asus.Unlock.LangID.exe? He must be able to offer such a tool.) Anybody could help me getting the restore tool ?

If you're talking about hardware keyboard, look at the Hermes Wiki or install Advanced Configuration Tool by Schaps.
Is this corectly i must only change the registry to use German Hardware Keyboard nomore files needed
Great Thanks
Restore local language support for sliding keyboard after upgrade to a different language ROM
This has been reported not to work, see below for another hack
You need to create Registry value of name "Locale" and type of "String" and data of "Localization ID" within
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
Localization IDs:
German = 0407

no. you have to read carefully the wiki. you will see there that you have to create it in
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
the name of the key is Layout
the value (hex) of the key is 20407
do a soft reset via switching the device off (long button press of the on/off button) as it keeps your changes. otherwise you will loose your changes.
Thanks that works fine
this CAB does the registry entry for a german keyboard and installs the file (\windows\sym.0409.txt) for the german umlauts (that you get ä first and not á when you switch via dot + space)
Vielen Dank
Hello,
i've installed the rom HTC HERMES_CE OS 5.2.19949 Build 19949.1.2.0. and your tool doesn't work with this rom. Do you know what I can do to have the german Umlaute (äöü)?
Thanks a lot.
Greetz.
edit the file \windows\sym.0409.txt yourself. it is very easy.
have a look into it and you will see what i mean.

Goto the following registry entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]There is a key called 'Layout' and it is in Decimal.
The suitable value for German Hermes keyboard is 20407 (132103 in decimal). =qwertz
Thanks for the posts. I installed the rom, then I installed the tool of stan23. I looked into the registry and the value is 20407. When I want to use the hardware keyboard I can't write a "ä, ö, ü" not even an "á". I can't understand it.
check the following:
- is the file sym.0409.txt still there (maybe you have deleted it?) and have a look into it.
- is the value of the reg.key 20407 HEX
- when typing: make sure you press "a" then "dot-key" then "space-bar".
if this does not work, hard-reset.
if this does not work, try a different rom
