Notification emails - About xda-developers.com

Mates, do you receive notification emails. I do so for PMs but never regarding postings in a thread...
Can someone post how a header of the notification email would look like? Maybe a filter picks them out...

Hi Frank,
Just post a reply on this mail and I'll get a mail about the reply and I'll sent you a copy.
(shouldn't you be working?? )
Wouter

Thanks, Wouter. Here it is...
Nope, I shouldn't be working anymore... it's 10:30 pm... I shouldn'y even be on the net

Well I knew that it was late but some people work until late (like me and don't forget Akac..)
Well here it is:

Bro... prawn didn't do it.. that new guy in prawn's quote, thought he could get away with spamming if he posted in 2004 threads... he resurrected 2 threads... I reported him and so he is back to square 1
Nothing is True.. Everything is Permitted©

That makes more sense - I was asleep when I saw Prawn's post, so didn't look that closely at what he'd quoted.

Double email notificiations from forum

I've set my preferences here to email me if there are updates to threads I'm subscribed to and am receiving double notification emails.
I'm only subscribed to these threads with one user account and can't figure out why I'm receiving two replies.
Any suggestions would be great!
Jason
I have this too, maybe an issue caused by the latest breakdown

Ok, cool -- just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some user preference that I had enabled somehow... Thanks for the responses!
It's been happening to me since the site came back up after the hack attack.
Someone fix it!!!
PLEASE!
Same problem.
Admins, we need you here
*God's booming voice* GET ON WITH IT!!
Yes, I have that too! And it's really annoying! Is there anything that can be done???
Well..
It seems that we have established the fact that many people has this problem.
Now, I've gotten 3 (x2) mails regarding updates on this thread today alone..
Every time, I hope to see a solution posted. But no..
There is just another "Me too" post..
I suggest that we don't post much more in this topic unless there is a solution..
At least not more than one more "Me too" post per day?
Just my two cents..
I agree with Bonzo. Everyone stop agreeing with each other!!!!
sorry!! How could I resist an opportunity like that

Changing your username

As the title says... Can we change our usernames and if so how?? I've looked in the user control panel and can't seem to figure it out.

By default, such a thing is not possible in vBulletin.
You will have to contact one of the board admins and ask them to do this for you.
You can find a list of admins here by clicking "View Forum Leaders" at the bottom of the board index.

As correctly stated above, that's an admin task, best contact mikechannon about it or if you like I can pass it along (if not already done by you).
Don't forget to state your new user name, best check up front if it is still unused/available in members list.
Best
Contact mikechannon, he changed mine from flyboyovyick2k9 to flyboyovyick
It took a while but i think she has a lot on.

Would it be better if a mod stickied a thread about username changing instead of so many threads with the same subject?

My question kinda answered itself.
Apparently everyone is able to send private messages, even users with less than 10 posts
EDIT: @roofrider
thanks for the info.

Everyone can send PM's, however, don't be surprised if your PM's asking questions that could have been found with an easy search are ignored by some members. Or tech support questions, many users simply ignore questions that aren't asked and answered in the public forum for all to benefit from.

If you would, please edit the title of the first post to include [SOLVED], save it, and then click on the little triangle report button in the upper left corner of the first post and ask for the thread to be closed as it has been solved? I promise to give you a thanks if you do this.
Thank you!

Please make use of the QUOTE/MENTION-Feature

Hello, all XDA-Users.
I know, most users know this, but not every XDA-Member…
I'd really like to say something here:
I truly see too many XDA-Users, that simply post something, without thinking about the fact, that somebody maybe overlook/misses your post.
Well, this is OK, but not, if the post is for a specific user.
If somebody wants to reply/say something to another user, without Quoting a Post of the user or mentioning somebody with @[Username]; the [Username] will not be notificated.
That will cause, that there's an extremely low chance, that [Username] will read the post. Maybe he/she looks at the thread at a random moment or recieves a private message etc. Maybe the Member is subscribed to the thread and takes a look randomlý.
But,
If you talk to somebody, please make use of the Quote/Mention-Feature‼
I'm saying this to anybody, who is a member on XDA-Developers.
Quoted Text
XDA-Member-ID (mine is 6011384) or simply type @Username

I remember your signature once to have a text similar to the following one:
„If you want me to read your post, please either Quote/Reply to my post or type/paste @ИΘΘK¡€ in your post.“
Thanks for your reply
Many members actually forget to use Quote/Mention.
I think, it makes sense to put this into the Non-Urgent Forum rules.
I've seen another post, where Quoting/Mentioning isn't used.
@Hannah Stern, I believe this thread would be a better place for the recommendation you posted above - that way the mods can see it and consider it.

trying to learn how to quote >.<
6011384 @Hannah Stern So it sends them a notification, yet the username doesn't become a clickable link?
And no problem if the username has spaces in between?
*Edit: The username becomes a clickable link, and it appears that spaces in the username isn't a problem, when using with @
Even if you use the @ option, it automatically changes to mention option which you can see by editing the post.
Also, the correct way to use the Mention option is
'any text here, preferably the username, and without the quotes'

Problem with uploading images

Hi folks,
could you help me please? I have built an application and posted some information about it. But I can not upload the images. Does anyone has problem with this?
Hello and welcome on XDA,
as a new member you're not able to post images or links.
Kind regards
Trafalgar Square
Ok, so when I will be able to add some images and links?
If you reached the 10 post mark.
Just answer some questions or post in some threads. But don't spam. If you spam, your posts will get deleted.

It isn't automatic after 10 posts, it will take a little bit of time. Apologies for the delay, we had to implement this due to spammers making 10 quick posts and then spamming right away. It's annoying but necessary! Can't wait to see your post about your app!
