Great idea for Infrared Keyboard - General Accessories

I found this item on ebay, it claims to work on all pda's with infrared. Instead of paying out for an expensive keyboard that probably wont work with the xda this has to be a good thing. It enables you to use a standard ps2 keyboard with your pda. I know a big keyboard isnt very portable but for use at home or in the office it isnt a problem. Here is the link.

I just got in contact with the seller of this item and he offers a 14 day money back guarantee.

Did u get one?
Did you give it a whirl and buy one?

It's look like a good tool!
Is it compatible with the MDA Windows Mobile 2003?
Is it working for anybody yet?

well i suppose that it's a question about if it'll work with any driver for the pocketpc

Ok
does this work with the xda2 do we know?
Personally i would rather have bluetooth for things like a pda keyboard but damn its so cheap is it worth a buy?

do they work on the xda 2?
I ordered one on thursday so will let you know when it arrives !!, but i hope it does
Blimey!, just clicked on your link and they only have 122 left in stock, they had 504 on thursday evening, so if you want one, you better order it quick i recon !
Although, i just found this review and it isnt looking good :?
http://www.1-digital-camera-store.com/product+Micro-Innovations-Wireless-B00006AG1K.html
I took at chance as they were so cheap but it's bad news, they don't come with a driver for the XDA or XDAII and having tried all the available drivers both on the install CD and the Micro Technologies website I've been unsuccessful.
The device is actually a Pocketop product and would you believe that they expect you to pay $10 to download new drivers regardless of whether it's new or not! They don't have an XDA driver nor do they have any idea if or when one will be available
Me too, Mine turned up this morning and it doesnt work at all, i have tried everything, i even found some of pocketop's TKB700U drivers on another site and tried all of them and none of them work,
I emailed pocketop and they havent replied yet, but upon doing some research i found that it just isnt compatible with the XDA2, there is a different keyboard they do that works with the XDA1 but it looks like this keyboards is only going to get used with my Ipaq 2210 as it supports that

i bought 2 of them......works perfectly on dell axim both x3 ,x5 devices, but nothing happens with my xda 2,any hint?

Lost stylus can anyone tell me a compatible replacement??

I have this link here to a store (which I truly dislike BTW but they're fairly close) and they have sytlus' (stylii maybe?) for sale. I just bought my blue angel on ebay and I didn't see that it did not come with the stylus. I've been using a pen-style stylus now and it works but for those quick times I just want to pull it out of the case and go. Can anyone tell me if another brands stylus would fit to their knowledge? One from a Palm or HP PDA perhaps? here's the link if anyone knows. I also thought about contacting Cingular directly because it is a Cingular branded phone. Anyone know if they've had any luck with that? Thank you very much in advance.

It's not the money I see them online a lot I just didn't want to have to wait a week. I was looking for something more local. But thanks for the link
Ah... I don't know of any that would work.
I am sure there has to be a few that do, but don't know of any.
You could always buy it then return it if it didn't work.
Well I picked up some for the HP 1900 that looked pretty close but this package is sealed up TIGHT so I don't want to open it and then have the wrong ones. I think I'm just going to ebay it and wait the couple of days for it to get to me.

I-Tech Virtual Laser Keyboard

Does this product work with Windows Mobile 6?
For you people who dont know what I'm talking abt
http://www.virtual-laser-keyboard.com/
i really dont know...but im curious to use it...should be nice hehe
It looks uber fantastic. I just want to know if it works with WM6. Called up their tech support, got redirected to some chinese voice message.
I can try and let you know, if I can find its charger
I thought it used AAA batteries?
Regardless, try it! and please do let me know. It seems like a fantastic product, just wana make sure Artemis can be used with it.
Hi, I just tested it, it works very good, even better than in wm5 (I'm using BB4), unlike wm5 there is no drivers to install, and it works not only when typing but also in general to navigate thru the phone functions, like to scroll the contacts etc...
If they work...
Me and a friend of mine bought both these keyboards, Mine was DOA, The other one gave some light but did not work either. The shop stopped selling this product because of all the problems.
How long ago did you guy this?
I've read online reviews saying the models seemed to have been fixed. I really want a keyboard, and this looks cool, else my second option is trading Artemis for a Nokia E90.. Sigh.. Is going to Symbian worth it?

TomTom and other GPS software

GPS Software Ideas - T-Mobile Dash
Im in desperate need to find a good GPS program that works with the Dash. My bluetooth GPS receiver came in today but I need to find a GPS program.
I have searched this site, and well the Search sucks and returned about 2 or 3 things pertaining to GPS Software.
Anyone got some ideas?

I am not sure of what are you asking for. What is "bluetooth program" you are referring to? TomTom 6 works on SP.

Fixed... No wonder no one had replied. Thanks
I won't lie, I've been trying to install several pirated version of it today. And it just doesn't seem to work. The closest of my attempts has been when TomTom opened up then asked for configurations then told me TomTom is not compatible with this device. Sigh. Gladly I didn't go out a buy it before trying it.
And what makes you think that a paid product will not work, just for trying it's pirated version???
I'm no saint, also tried out several pirated GPS software, AFTER I bought R66.
R66 always performed to the standarts, while all the others gave some kind of problem. I succed to make some work, but it's just too much trouble... for me, anyway.
I would advice to question the software development houses, regarding compatibity issues with your device, just to be on the safe, but I don't see why a comercial, legal version would not work correctly.

I can assure you that TT 6 works just fine on Excalibur. Retail product I mean. Certain cracked version also works, but I advice against it since developers deserve to be rewarded for their hard work.

I agree, but you can bet your ass im not shelling out that much to find out it doesn't work. I've tried several TT6 and TT5, and for some reason it says not compatible for this device. I will take your word on it though and take TT6 into consideration with Route 66 Mobile 7.
Vmiguel, do you have R66 Mobile 7 on a Dash? I've been looking at buying this. Also If you do, I read that it comes with MiniSD/SD but the Dash uses Micro SD. Are you able to install from the DVD to micro sd?
Im particularly looking for a good GPS Software that I can download online and pay for. But if I have to I can order it.
TomTom 6
I've been trying to locate TomTom6; however, I can't seem to find it anywhere. Amazon says "Coming Soon" -- as does the tomtom.com website. Is this product available in the U.S. yet (European version seems to be shipping, though...)
Also, does the bluetooth receiver included in the package need an external power source, or is it battery powered?
The online materials don't mention compatibility with the T-Mobile Dash specifically...
Thanks!

Yeah, I noticed you could order TomTom 5 from TomTom.com but TomTom 6 didn't have a purchase option.
I already have a bluetooth GPS receiver, so I am seriosuly thinking I might just order Route 66 Mobile 7 WMS.
If you guys know of any other compatable GPS software please post it.
Copilot Live
Has anyone tried Copilot Live? I read some reviews that seemed to recommend the product -- and it's a lot easier to find than Route 66.
Also, anyone have some thoughts in general about using a smartphone (such as our beloved Dash) for GPS navigation as opposed to just buying a dedicatd unit?
Thanks!
Another GPS Question...
Here's one more question. Can all of these packages be installed on a Micro SD card and run from there? Or does the main app have to be installed in phone memory? It seems these apps take a significant amount of space (6 Megs for Copilot Live, 16 Megs for Route66, etc.), so it would be a shame to be forced to install them in phone memory...
Thanks!
I'll get my Excalibur in couple of hours and will post some impressions and screen shots.

I HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO ALL.
TomTom does not work on Smartphone. It installs fine, but then there is no possibility to pick correct com port and keyboard pressing does not correspond properly.
OK, I just ordered Route66 online from their shop. I'll let you know how is it after it arrives - within next week or so.

You have to try iGO 2006. This is very nice and easy software. Works for me and as original is pre installed on Mini SD, so it should work on any PDA's.
Check there web: http://www.i-go.com/en/
I love it, has lot of countries and even details on Ireland.
does IGO runs on WMsmartphone?? I can only see PPC on the requirement.

Nice, but no North America maps...
mapopolis
I like mapopolis. It has GPS support, street-by-street driving instructions (with voice prompt), business and place-of-interest look up, etc.
So, if you're wondering in and about a different neighborhood, you can click on the businesses and it will give you their telephone number/location, etc. You can also look up driving directions via address (like mapquest) etc.
It's works great for the pocket PC -- smartphone (like the dash) i suspect is so-so. I've used it on the mx220, and without a touch screen it's just O.K.
The cons would be their web site interface. You pay $99 for unlimited downloads of individual counties in regions of the United States. Since a state like California has 58 counties, (58 separate maps) that's a lot of downloading time. They have an option to just buy an SD card with all the maps on it, but the dash doesn't use SD. (plus it costs more).
However the pros: Trial download. (I think 10 days?). Give it a shot, see if you like it, it uninstalls pretty nicely too.

RII mini Bluetooth Keyboard w/ Touchpad

So i purchased the RII Mini BLuetooth keyboard excited to have it work with the Webtop...and alas there is an issue with the drivers. I was super excited as it has both a keyboard and a wireless touch pad and thought it would be perfect but it just aint working.
Has anyone been able to get this working? Or considered trying it?
Edit...got it paired. not drivers needed. Unlike other devices where the pairing is coded on one end, the keyboard requires that once you've inputted the desired code on you Atrix, that you put the same code in on the keyboard and press the enter button. Voila. A great product - highly recommended especially for webtop users.
goog-ed, nice looking product. glad to have a confirmed all in one solution when i need one. Thanks
quick link to goog shopping results for n e 1 wanting to check it out http://goo.gl/FEb6M
I think I'm going to pull the trigger on this too... just FYI, there are two different models, one for 2.4 Ghz and one for bluetooth, and they are not well described on Amazon and the like; I'll post the appropriate links below:
http://www.amazon.com/ProMini-Wirel...EUBI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1302464752&sr=8-2
http://www.riitek.com/product.asp
You need the Bluetooth one
if it says 2.4ghz, it's the wrong one.
I've been using one of these with my HTPC setup for a while and I love it!
Can't wait!
I just ordered one, since I was seriously looking for a portable bluetooth keyboard to take around with me and use for my phone and laptop. It should be coming in today, and once I have time, I'll probably make a video on using it, just like I did one when I had the original Droid.
I'm also waiting for mine to be delivered, along with a bluetooth mouse. Should make the webtop experience much more useful.
I don't know, now I'm thinking of going this route: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011FOOI2/ref=cm_cr_asin_lnk
The question is, do I really use webtop that much???
For your dollar, well spent
I sent an email asking the quality, more importantly will it work with the atrix? And has anyone complained about it and the atrix combo.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Wireless-B...&otn=3&po=LVI&ps=63&clkid=8444646627280274537
Thats well worth the 19$ if it works.
If they say yes I'll buy one, and let you guys know.
@swiftks
I use it quite a bit but couldnt justify over 100 bucks. Looks spify though^_^

I ordered one of these and it went back to Amazon immediately. Quality was bad..two keys didn't work; one not at all and one only if you pushed really hard. Too expensive for that kind of thing. I wound up buying the Moto keyboard and paired a Verbatim bt mouse....
i was thinking about getting one of these for usage with webtop and when traveling. I actually ordered one, but had to cancel the order when i realized i got the non bt by accident and haven't reordered yet. There is also another version on amazon thats a keyboard only thats a bit cheaper but might actually be better designed for tapping out lonf messaves.
For fhose that have one, how comfortable is it to type a message/email with the Rii? Im still not a fan of these touch only keyboards which are much slower and less ac urate than say the slide out keyboard on my old tilt.

can someone confirm that using a BT keybpard works with the Atrix and the Webtop hack. In other words, I have the webtop hack working. If I leave this by my TV can I use the BT keybaord to control the device?
has anyone tried this keyboard with the Atrix and will the mouse work?

I had the webtop hack working with a bluetooth keyboard (Motorola) and mouse (Verbatim brand). It worked fine. Since I upgraded to .83 firmware I didn't reinstall the hack since I mainly use the lapdock now.
Off topic-anybody want to buy a Motorola Bluetooth keyboard (works fine)? Since I use the lapdock (see above) I don't use it. $50 shipped in Continental USA.
Works perfectly with RII bluetooth and webtop
Yep it works perfectly. Very good keyboard. Laser pointer is a nice benefit for cats
could also try the bt ps3 logitech keyboard. i have it right now and works great!

Well here I am tyoing in this keyboard while my atrix is connected to my 52 inch plasma using the webtop hack. Its a fantastic combination that cost me $40 imstead of the $179 Motorola wamts. As soon as it saw bluetooth, the atrix went into big clock mode, which in itself is nice. Keyboard is small but useable but does take some getting used to. It has a tracball for a mouse, which works but isn't so easy to navigate. Also pairing isn't well explained. When atrix asks Dor code put 1111 THEN 1111 enter on the bt keyboard!
Whole combination is amazing. Browsing the web on the tv is an exoerience.
This atrix really is unique.
I was also able to go into the entertainment center and can go forward or back through a movie. And keep it picture in picture.
And answer a call.
Astounding!

Got mine working today, did passcode on phone then just pressed the same passcode on keyboard and enter. Worked well.
Thanks
Wow im glad I stumbled on this thread. I ordered mine last night from eBay.. Good to see it will work AFTER I make the purchase of course lol
