SMS backup to PC-getting tool SMS Export(yorch.net) working? - About xda-developers.com

HI together, :?
I`m new in this forum and found it because I have a issue I don`t get rid of. I have 2500 sms messages on my xda and want to sell it to get a new one. My problem is I don`t want to delete my whole sms messages as there are so many important one I can`t delete as I need them documented.
I installed now the SMS Export tool from yorch.net as I red in this forum here that I should be able to get this done with this tool.
Problem is that I´m not able to get it done successfully.
1. I downloaded the tool and installed it from my PC over Active Sync on my xda.
2. I can see the SMSExport.vce file in my root folder on my xda
3. I can see the VICERT.vce and Visual CE.unload file under /windows
Problem is now that I need asistance how I can use the tool now ?
1. If I start the VICERT.vce file I get the msg "Run VisualCE.exe to create a form"
2. If I run Visual CE.unload file as I don`t see a exe I get the msg that there is no application assigned to the file?
3. If I riun the SMSExport.vce file I get a programm called SMS Export Utility in front of me where I don`t know how to handle to get the sms messages on my local PC.
My aim is to read the sms messages on my local pc (word or txt file) and burn it as backup on a cd.
I would really appreciate any help as I spent hours already on this topic and I`m not smart enough to get it done.
Thanks in advance...

SMS Text messaging

Hi
How does one back up the SMS text messaging independent of xBackup and able to restore it????
My sms txt folder has 70 sub folders where I file all the sms into
I want to be able to copy this to a HDD without using xBackup all the time???
I know the data lies in \Windows\Messaging and the subfolder attachements but if you back these up and restore it independent of xBackup - de nada -
Although the data is there it is not "linked" to messaging ??
How to do this ???
files found elsewhere under databases
Hi
with experimentation I have found that under \Windows\Databases - looks like a link but you get t databse files
the ones are pmail and pmailmessages
as i change the sms text messages these files change
NOW THE BIG QUESTION HOW THE HELL DO COPY THESE FILES OFF THE PPC DEVICE ???
When u try and copy nothing happens - when u search with resco explorer no find files on My Device
Are these being stored in a rom and if so where and how do I copy them off ??
HELP

Error reply
Hi,
Please send me the complete text of the error message.
Thx

Ughhhhh the SMS counter

Is there any way for the SMS counter to go back to 0 when viewing several messages from one sender? Other wise I have to keep going back and opening for the counter to tick down.
On my 6800 I upgraded to the last DCD rom and it did the same. Only for that reason did I go back to his previous rom. This drives me nuts. The worst part is I recieved 15 angry texts from my ex wife. Who the heck wants to open that up 15 times for it to clear?
just go to the threaded messages & use the arrow keys to go select each & every one of them & it'll set the counter right. hope that makes sense.
I found a better fix. This adds "Mark all messages read"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=379265
Is there still not a cab/real fix for this? I know that it is a problem with the version of WM that it shipped with but this is kind of ridiculous and Sprint/Whoever can't expect us to deal with this or install a cab that "makes it easier"
All other version of WM that i've ever used have never had this problem before and it is quite annoying if you stay in a text message for a while and then go out and have to click through 100 messages... Yes I've already installed the cab that adds "Mark all as read" but its still annoying.
Cheers

Download install that DLL into your windows and your all set. This is a well known issue with the DLL not letting go of the message properly. Fix thanks to Yay4juggs

Downloaded and copied over to /Windows folder.
Works great!
Thanks a bunch for linking the file and thank you to Yay4juggs for fixing this.
One less thing about the TP2 that is annoying... Damn you stock sprint manilla icons and inability to use the FM radio yet!
Cheers
htmlnote.dll
My TP2 says it cannot copy over the file.

try using total commander to copy over.
For those that backup on a regular using sprite etc u have to add "htmlnote.dll" & "HTMLNOTE.DLL" to the exclude list other wise the backup will fail.

I'm using Sprite Backup 6.5 and it works just fine without adding it to the exclusion list.
can someone please tell me what i need and what to do to install this!
I have this problem almost everytime I get a text. Its sooooo annoying!!
come on, all I need to do is install it. I copy it over to my tp2 and it doesn't show up. I installed total commander like someone said but all that did was let me see it. It has an error when I click on it.
You need to move the file and replace the old one, not try to open it. Try deleting the old one and then moving the new one in its place.
Delete the old what? And move it where? And once it's moved do I have to install something or does it just fix it by being there?
I'm not trying to be a jerk but if you read all the posts in this forum topic you would know what to do. I'll write out instructions for you however.
1. First, download this DLL
HTML NOTE DLL
2. Extract the file onto your desktop and then transfer it over to your phone via activesync, SD card, bluetooth, etc.
3. Wherever the file was copied to (be in in the root folder of the storage card or any other place, fire up Total Commander/Resco File Explorer and copy/move the "htmlnote.dll" over to /Windows folder. which is in the root folder of 'My Device'
*You will know that you are copying/moving it to the right location if you get a message stating that you would be overwriting the current file. If you do NOT get this message than you are either putting the modified "htmlnote.dll" in the wrong spot or your already deleted it from /Windows.
If you are still having further issues, please PM me and we will work this out.
Cheers
thank you, when I moved it over I didn't get a overwrite message but eversince I put that file in there I haven't had the problem. Slowly my phone is becoming more useable and less annoying
Thank you for the information, I have found this particular bug to be exceedingly annoying. I followed all the given instructions, but when i try to copy/move the file from my storage card, and get prompted to overwrite the existing file, Total Commander returns an error 'Cannot copy or move file!'
I had already tried this a few times, without any issue, and then soft reset my Sprint TP2. Since i still had the single unread sms bubble, i tried it again and got the error above.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance...
UPDATE:
I renamed the original to '000original' and was able to copy over the new .dll. However, after a soft reset, the problem still exists.
OK, found this thread and installed the cab. Worked like a charm...
Looks like i can't post links yet, so just search for FixUnreadCount.zip and that does the trick.
FINALLY
Thanks you for finding this .. ive spent the last week searching through files on my tp2 trying to find the right one .

Extract SMS from Windows mobile 6.1 to the pc?

I have over 5 000 of sms on my htc tilt2 and I would like to backup them up on my PC but in the way that I can read them?
Other things if it's possible to extract them from htc to my nokia E75?
Please help me out.
Why not use Microsoft's MyPhone service?
It's for Windows Mobile only? Please guys, help...
Extract them with PPCPimbackup.
DO NOT use 'binary backup' in the options. This will give you a .pib file, which you can copy to your PC. This .pib is actually a .zip, so rename it to .zip and extract it. You'll get alot of .cs* files. Get the .csm file (m = messages) and rename it to .csv.
Et voila, you now have a .csv file you can open with Excel, and you'll see all your text messages. I know there are also applications for Nokia that are able to import/export SMS messages to and from an .xls file. So, figure out what the structure for such an .xls file is, and copy/paste it to an .xls file, and import it to your Nokia.
I do not know an application for the Nokia, but just Google for it. I have done it about 5 years ago when i switched from a Nokia N80 to a HTC TyTNII. It might take you an hour or so (to format the .xls properly), but if you really want it, it's doable.
use Jeyomobile. it will download all ur msgs to outlook.

good luck..
Tnx guys. I did it with Jayo mobile. Excellent program...
I used Jeyo and Microsoft's MyPhone service... Jeyo was a PITA to set up, had to disable firewalls, unplug/replug the phone in several times due to that fact before it would recognize, it finally downloaded all my SMS's but it won't put them back on the phone like it's supposed to...
I used Microsoft's MyPhone service, wow that was easy... install it to the phone, log in with my hotmail account, press "Synchronize", walked away, came back, viola! 511 contacts, 3086 texts, some pics and vids... all synced. Looks like the monkeys at Microsoft finally did something right. Oh yea, and it's helping me clear my contacts out with duplicate finder haha.
I'm doing this in preparation to "upgrade" my TP2 to WM 6.5 sprint's stock rom... I'll post a link when I'm done

[Q] Recovering SMS...

Hi.
OK, this is my story...
I had a TP2, dropped the phone, cracked the screen. Sent it away to my insurance, and they tell me it's beyond economical repair. How that works, I dunno, as from what I've seen, it's less than £100 to repair. Anyway, they told me that they're gonna give me a cash settlement of £350.
Now, I'm looking at swapping over to an android phone. But, I wanted to know whether there was any way of recovering my SMS to transfer to the android phone...
I took a backup of the phone using SPB Backup. Have an unpacker tool that should allow me to extract the contents of my backup... Now, the problem I've had, is that most programs to save SMS from Windows Mobile require you to have the phone. Now, I don't have the phone, I just have the contents of the phone. But, it should be possible from these files to retrieve the SMS, should it not (I've not found anything, hence my questionning... But my search was probably rubbish keywords?!)...
Then, what would be the best software to transfer this retrieval on to an android phone?! I've found a few which import from xml, txt, csv, but not sure which is best, etc...
Any help appreciated
You can try the following solution:
1. Run Spb Backup Unpack tool in PC to retrieve and export your text message.
Link: [spb.com/pocketpc-software/backup/unpack.html]
2. Run SMS Backup & Restore in your Android phone to import text message (from file created by Spb Backup Unpack tool)

Hope it can help you.

Many thanks for the reply... Didn't realise that the SPK Unpacker tool allows you to save the sms... Haven't had chance to play with it yet, but when I get back home from work, intend to do just that!
Thanks again for the reply... Just need to hope that the Desire Z is released soon!!! lol
Just to keep this thread updated...
Used the SPB Backup Unpack tool, to get my sms inbox and sent items... In my android device, used SMS Importer Lite program. This program can only import 100 messages per file. My sms csv file fromthe SPB backup contained over 1000 sms. So, what I did was to edit the csv file in notepad (in windows), and take 100 sms at a time (ctrl+g to go to line 100, and cut all files above this), and then past it to a new csv file. Then, edit the settingsin SMS import lite, so match the same csv file structure as the csv I Had. I then imported each file 1 by 1. This way, I managed to get all sms files
Just missing the mms messages. But am happy enough to get all the other messages
Hopefully this will help anyone else who wants help in this matter!

Serious help needed please!!!

Hello i have need from someone who want to make me a favor and help me.
Im ex Blackstone user and i move to Android.
I did some updates etc and i lost all my contacts from the SIM card and everything.
THe good news is that i still have on my PC a PIMbackup.pib file but its made like binary one..
There is a chance to get my contacts back!!!
WHat i need is someone with WinMo device can do it for one minute.
Just to run Pimbackup on his own Device and to restore the Contacts from the .PIB file i will provide
After this is done just re Backup them again BUT in normal mode without binary etc
in this case the final .pib file will be able to transfer it to a zip .csv file and Put all the contacts back in my SIM card via Gmail
So if somene want to help me will be really thankfull for that its emergency.
The other variant if someone do not want to use HIS device is to do the same procedure with a Windows Mobile Emulator but i don`t know how to work with this and make it to work on my desktop PC i already try several hours to set up everything but just not working
Thanks in advance
