ah, removed .htaccess i put there.
i put access restrictions in all places that i thought were not supposed to be publicly accessible.

Great job. You should get paid for that.
But i can´t ftp and the viewcvs isn´t avaible.
I´m especialy looking tor the Extended Rom Unlock Code with XDA3 support...
Oh, i forgot... FTP tells my Permission denied when i use User XDA.

You have to use lower case:
User: xda
passwd: xda

Kewl itsme, thanks for all the work.
Another thing, will links like http://xda-developers.com/xda2/xda2unlock.zip ever be up again, or were the files lost in the hack?

Yes, thanks.
With lower case xda does it work. Do the Forum change it to upper?
yes, it does...

xda-developers ftp
The ftp site doesn't work !
(I got a message: "Connection failed (Connection lost))
What is the port number and how many users maximum ?
Thx

itsme: THANK YOU!!!!!

viewcvs.xda-developers.com is down too
After I go to hell, I swear I will track down whoever hacked xda-developers and personally supervise his roasting

I vote for FTP non public!

Hi Admins,
though i think that the ftp with its well-known user/pass is a very comfortable way to make files public, it seems as if some dorks are using this freedom to delete/change/corrupt files again and again.
Can we make ftp read-only so that you can only upload via web-interface? Im afraid thats the only way to get rid of these nagging fellows...
greetings,
quappo
I couldn't agree more! There is a chance to destroy our devices by corrupted ROMs and then blame the user that uploaded the file in order to help the community while he is not responsible for something like that!
Well said quappo!
I totally agree!
Yes, non-public FTP we should have.
I agree too!
I agree. Non-Public ftp!
Agree

Agree.... Make the FTP read only.... and a upload folder....
Cheers
Agree
Agre, but how to control the access?
Agree, read-only and upload folder/s
this is surely the way forward so that
1) the uploader doesnt get blamed for currupt files
2) this would help protect our devices for currupt roms images!
me too.

non-public FTP
OK, I'll make this happen soon.
agree too. hopefully it will make the bandwidth usage of this site less as its been VERY slow and down quite a bit recently.
Blueangel FTP Trashing now Nr. 2
Well the blueaangle site has had its SECOND trashing since march 16
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=100072#100072
We just cleaned up the mess, reposted what we could find and corrected the wiki links and bang, back to the start again.
I agree with this.
I am willing to offer some support to the developers on this, as they are obviously busy guys.
I would be happy to "moderate" the FTP as such.. so I could regularly check the upload folder (which everyone could have write access to)
Then move the files into thier relevant areas (Himilaya, BlueAngel, Tools etc.. Which could be Read Only access)
This way we wouldn't have people trashing the FTP.
Cheers
Site is non public
Hi all
We now have FTP admins for the site.
Please note that we are normal users that have a ftp account that has more rights than the xda user who will be able to post in a upload area and download but NOT Delete.
Now the BA section is covered with vastloper, HappyGoat and MDAIIIUser.
The other forums are not covered, and as I don't read them I need to know who would be a good choice, wants to do the job for free.
Please PM me.
great idea..... i vote yay to this motion
Yeah, the FTP should be locked except for an upload folder, and users should not be able to delete from that folder, that deleting and reorganising should be leave for the mods. I was fortunate to download the files that I needed for a ROM update (the anansky 27Mb Magician ROM update) before the onslaught began. Give other users the chance many of us have had.

Host ftp site in different country

Can't you just host the ftp site in a country where it is legal to host such files like rom's and other stuff that is in the ftp site?
To avoid the need of taking down every rom on there because of what miscrosoft says?
sorry for my poor english!
Regards

That would only bring more problems. And the cost would be $$$
Just move rom to emule!!
Emule rules!
Isn't posting links to copyrighted material considered infrigment too?
In many countries at least.
Torrent or eMule would not be bad.
The Link can either made be inactive (not clickable, you have to paste it) or if the file name is well-defined you can use the search function...
dont know if anyone has ever used #xbins to get xbox applications but the xbos-scene forum then never needs to link to anything and #xbins is almost unspoken of but everyone knows to look there. couldn't we set something up like that?
For those that have never used it you just login to the IRC channel and get a welcome message telling you to message a bot, which if you do you get a username (your irc alies) and password and a link to the FTP server, your username only then has access to the FTP while you are in the IRC channel.
dunno if that would help anything, we'd still need another ftp server setup but it would then be disassociated from xda-dev

This is the message i get opening the webpage from the owner;
" Because of the amount of SPAM this site has been recieveing. I have decided to take down the wordpress blog.
The bots have been hitting the server very hard.
Sorry for this, but with the VPS provider threaten to take down and shut off the service, I figure this is the best bet.

thanks mate.
Clear your cache if your still getting directed to the old server with the pasword protected database.
Done that, both Firefox and IE direct to the old server
EDIT: IE now works, Firefox doesn't though

For the ADSL.
some router haven't pppoe inside.
just like a invisible wire.
some wifi ask you to provide the username and password
computer can do it very easy because it has the pppoe dial-up
but your phone haven't
use this software you can do it just like a computer's dial.
special purpose.
Lets say my friend has a wife thats password protected.
He gives me the pass. In order to connect to his wifi should i use this app?

XDA Wiki access problem

Hey guys... I hope some Admin will have the chance to look at this:
Every time I try to access the XDA wiki, I'm seeing an empty page... which is a crying shame from my point of view... This happens both when viewing from work as well as viewing from home... even when viewing it on my mobile this happens! I'm connecting to the world from The Netherlands... which has possibly the best IX connectivity in the world... but the wiki is unreachable
Who else has this issue? What can I do to fix my access?

Can you try now? The issue is that the [ and ] in your username are restricted characters in MediaWiki but not vBulletin. I've written a patch that should fix this by setting you a username based on your user ID, so please check to make sure this does work for you.

It looks a bit funny (My user ID + space and xda as username), but I can actually see the wiki now! :victory:
Good patch!

Yeah since [ and ] are restricted characters it kind of messes up the integration. I was just going to convert them to _ but in case someone registers that name on XDA (like _NUT_) we just use the userid in that case. So it is a bit confusing but should at least get you access!
