Trying to run xda2unlock-setup-v2.2 basic question - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I have copied across the dowloaded file
from my pc to the xda2. I have a message which says - xda2unlock-setup-v2.2 is not a valid pocket pc application.
I assume that I am doing the wrong thing.
I am technically ignorant and would appreciate any advise please assume a lack of any basic knowledge.
The unit is locked to O2 And I wish to use my vodafone sim. I have just bought the unit and have never had a connection.

O2 XDA II unlocking problems

I have an Xda II (on the UK O2 network with data only) with the following details:
ROM version: 1.66.00WWE
ROM Date: 02/20/04
Radio version: 1.10.00
Protocol version: 1337.18
ExtROM version: 1.66.209
I downloaded the tool to unlock the 02 Xda II directly to the Xda and ran the program. I got the message:
Start of rpair process...
Preparing modem...
Failed to send ATZ
As I downloaded the tool OK (and can browse the web etc) I guess the Internet connection is ok. I use GPRS.
Can anyone explain what has gone wrong?
I currently use Vodafone for my mobile phone and O2 for my Internet/email. I would like to use the Xda II for both on the Vodafone network.
Thanks for any advice.
Regards,
Chips
Did you try the other version of the xda2unlock that runs over usb, I have found that if one fails the other will often work.
I got the same "failed to send ATZ" when I used the program which runs the setup from the PC.
I directly copied the xda_unlockv2.2.exe to the XDA using active sync (pasted it into the pocket PC my documents folder on the PC and ran active sync, then used file explorer from "programs" on the XDA2 to find it), then ran the unlock program.
It worked a treat!
From looking at other posts, these symptoms appear to be occurring on XDAs with "Ext ROM version 1.66.209"
My Device info:
Rom Version 1.66.00WWE
Rom 02/20/04
RAdio Version 1.10.00
Protocol Version 1.66.209
Hope this info helps someone else

Please Help, my Blue Angel Phone died.

Hi all,
First of all I want to thank you for your time.
I bought a Blue Angel device from a friend of mine but unfortunately I'm not so sure who made it.
It does have the bluetooth, camera on the back, wireless wifi, etc.
About a week ago, the phone function died. I verified that it wasn't the GSM card because when I moved the GSM (Cingular) to a different cell phone, it does work.
I then found out that from the device information, I only saw the ROM version, ROM date and ExtROM version BUT the Radio version and the Protocol version are blank.
I am attaching the devicedata.txt.
With that in mind, I have tried to upgrade the ROM and the Radio. I'm currently running the O2 ROM with the following information:
1. ROM version 1.12.62 WWE
2. ROM date: 10/04/04
3. Radio version: Blank
4. Protocol version: Blank
5. ExtROM version: 1.12.178 WWE.
When I tried to upload the Radio ROM, it seems to upload it, no error messages but still the radio version information is blank and my Blue Angel is still not recognizing as if the radio is off.
I tried to upload other ROM, like Imate PDA2k, Siemens SX66, etc but I couldn't because sometimes it kept complaining about country id or language id not correct.
I really appreciate any helps, inputs on this matter. I'm kind of dead on the water without my phone...
Thank you so very much,
Tambeng
Upgrade everything, not just the radio rom, you have a really old stuff running there...
Download upgrade from. clubimate.com and install it. But only of you have PDA2K.
I did try upgrade it to the following:

Do you think the fact that the radio version is blank is the cause of my phone to die?
Has anyone else since this issue before?
Thanks,
Tambeng

I tried to download but it says about the model is not correct.
btw: what does it mean by a ROM that says cooked?
Thanks,
Tambeng
No, no. Try to download from official website. What is your PDA call? It must be says some where on it.

It means that somebody made it by himself - not official. People take different parts from different ROMs and put them together into one ROM. You don't need things like this right now.

Very possible. What is wrong with your phone exactly? It's searching for signal or......?
It's actually really interesting that it didn't have any brand at all on it.
It just says, PocketPC on the top right corner. Can I identify the maker from the IMEA? I can share the IMEA number.
As for the phone, it doesn't even search for a signal at all. It just have the exclamation mark, like "!".
Thanks for your help,
Tambeng

XDA 1 step by step network unlock for computer dummy?

Hi All
I am new to this forum, I would like some help if at all possible with an xda 1. It is locked to 02 and needs something called a sid code?, I have read some posts on this forum and they do offer ways to unlock the code. But as I am very new to computers and also ppc's I am finding it hard to understand what I need to do, if anyone could send me simple to follow step by step instructions for a computer dummy that would be great. From the forums that I have read I am very worried that I will make my ppc un-useable, wipe it clean or make it die totally. Can anyone offer any help at all.
Information that is on the xda 1,
Rom version: 3.17.03 ENG
Rom date: 05/15/03
Radio version: 4.20.00
Protocal Version: 32S54
Model No: PW10A1
Best regards, atmitch
Should be aesy in your case....
1. Download http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/XDAunlock.exe
2. Copy file to your xda
3. Run the xdaunlock file on your xda.
This should be all to unlock it.....

My questions start here :
Is it a Himalaya or Alpine
I tried to figure it out my self by reading your forum. I'm new user indeed, i got this device from work and just getting into this stuff.
I don't want to hear from any1 how stupid I'm am because i posted it because it is not so simple as you think identify this device.
I found on your forum that Himalaya does support WiFi (b) , mine DOESN't , there is no such option WI-FI lan or anything like that except Bluetooth.
Second of all a Cover, a case looks exactly as Alpine pictured here :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Alpine
the name of it is O2 XDA II instead of OTEK POCKET PC.
My plan is to Upgrade a OS to the latest possible (english).
But before I start making anychanges I'd like you to help me with identity of this device.
THanks in advance.
Regards,
Mariusz
