Working bluetooth headsets for PDA2K? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hi! Just want to know which bluetooth headsets are compatible with PDA2K. I spent a lot of time in the shop yesterday, but for the life of me, I couldn't get the SE HBH-600 or the Nokia HDW-2 to work with it.
The HBH-600 got paired, but as soon as a call connected, the audio was switched to the handset, with the headset being disconnected. As soon as the call was dropped, the connection to the headset was resumed.
As for the HDW-2, I couldn't get it to connect. I really need a bluetooth headset pronto, because of the incidences of cellphone-snatching here in Karachi, so please could you guys help me out ASAP? Thanks in advance!

Hi There,
I use the Jabra 250 without any problems
Cheers
Pointy

I have tried 4 different headsets with the Blue Angel.
The current winner is the Cardo Scala 500...which is nice because its also the cheapest.

I'm using the older Sony Ericsson HBH-35 with mine and seems to work just fine. My only problems are that the battery on this one is dying a bit lately, but that's hardly the phones fault!

I am using the G2 Bluetrek as sold in O2 shops under the O2 brand.
Works...intemittently...sometimes great - sometimes very noisy - sometimes it looses connection! I also find that it seems to go to the highest volume setting at the start of every call which hurts my ears!

Well I have been using a Plantronics M3000 on BT Builds 3500 and then 3900 without any problems

Hallo!
I am using SE HBH 300, works fine with BT Builds 3500.
My older BT-headset Jabra 300 did´not worked, (could not answer 90% of the calls)
/M

Hi.
Im using the HBH 600 with both BT Build 3500 & 3900.
I dont experience any troubles with the 3900 build, only the poor range and sometimes a little crackling sound, but this seems to be the same for all BT headsets with the BA.
You can get the Build 3900 from the ftp in BlueAngel/Cab_files/Bluetooth Upgrades/bt3900.cab

I am using the Nextlink Bluespoon AX. Works fine for me.
R

I have a Sony Ericsson HBH-660 Akono and works great (except for the fact that the headset's display just shows the number and not the name...)
Joao Caldeira

I'm using the Jabra BT800, and it works perfectly, except for the caller ID showing just the number, and an annoying amount of static when going through an solid object (like my head :roll.
This is with bluetooth build 3500, and all the other headsets I've tried with this phone (SE HBH-65, HBH-300) have exhibited exactly the same problems with static through objects... would appear that the phone isn't giving the signal enough juice, or something? :?
Chris

Just took my old G2 to the O2 store and complained about it being so crap. They replaced it with a new O2 (Bluetrek?) one. Inital opinion is that it is a little better but not a lot - still noisy and complaints of it sounding bad from the other end.....

I'm using the Motorola HS810 and it works just great, actually after a soft reset the volume on the headset is too loud !

HBH-65 seems to work ok for me.

bosjo, it's good to hear that you have got the HBH-600 working. I am unable to do so. I had build 3500, but upgraded to 3900 after reading your post. Still no difference. I had noticed before that when I monitored the headset connection using Bluetooth Manager -> Active Connections, the status would be showing me a full signal, and intermittently, it would become red, meaning that the signal would keep going to zero, and coming back to full. This was even when the phone was hardly 6 inches away from the headset, in line of sight. I'm going to return my bluetooth headset tomorrow, and I wonder if I should get my handset replaced as well. I'm worried that since the problem wasn't fixed by the 3900 build, something may be wrong with my bluetooth radio hardware. Anyways, I am open to suggestions.

Look @ this... might help

I have a Bluespoon AX that works perfectly!!
Before that I had a Nokia HDW-2, it worked good too!

Hi all,
It seems the Nextlink Bluespoon AX gets a good press here with the XDA2s - so, where did you guys buy yours???
R

I'm using a bluespoon ax but mine definitely has that crackling sound. I'm using 1.0.0.3900. However, it's definitely not the headset because I've tried it with a magician and it works absolutely fine - friends told me it sounded the same as if I was speaking through the phone.

Sounds like the XDA2s bt stack still needs a lot of work - lets hope a rom upgrade comes out soon which mproves it - there realy is no excuse O2!!!

Orange M2000 - Jabra Bluetooth headset VERY crackly

Hello,
I have just upgraded from an XDAII to an Orange SPV M2000.
First impressions are generally quite good. One huge problem I am having though is that my Jabra 250 BT headset that works absolutely fine on my XDAII, works terribly on the M2000. The connection is incredibly crackly to the point of it being unusable.
The same headset works fine again when I revert it back to the XDAII. I have even tried turning off encryption on the M2000.
Is it possible that because the bluetooth software on the M2000 is completely different to that on the O2 XDAII, that this could be part of the problem?
Grateful for any advice.
Thanks!
Howdy,
I have the same probs with Jabra 250 and MDA III @ 1.6.1, Broadcom Build 1900.
up to 40 centimeters, everything is ok with a free line of sight
it still works up to some meters, but is indeed unusable.
bought it at MediaMarkt, so they'll get it back.
D'you think it's a headset problem or a general problem with the bluetooth on the phone.
I find that Activesync over bluetooth does not work at anywhere near the same range I was getting with my XDAII
Can you let me know if you have better luck with any other headset.
Incidentally, I note with the Jabra that when it is connected, you can click and hold down on the Jabra paired device and bring up the status which shows connection strength. It fluctuates greatly between the weakest and the "Just Right" marks - which might explain why it so crackly.
MY BT Headset experience
I have been trying out some BT Headsets for my MDA III T-mobile Austrian edition and here are the results:
Jabra BT 250: The connection was cracking the whole time even when the phone was next to the headset. It is really comfortable when using it. VERDICT: Not usable.
Ericsson HBH 35: No cracking, great sound quality but would stop working after few minutes of inactivity. Turning BT on the MDA off and then on would make it work again. VERDICT: Usable but the inactivity thing really bugs me
Motorola HS-820: The same problems as HBH35 although the sound quality was somehow inferior to HBH35. VERDICT: same as HBH35.
Motorola HS-810: Works well, less disconnection problems than HBH35/HS-820 but still unpredictible/unreliable. The sound was barely hearable in noisy envoironments due to the desing of the headset. VERDICT: only headset that works more or less OK with the MDA III's current BT Stack. But only usable in the car or in a somewhat quiet environment.
Overall, wait for the BT fix. I've returned all the headsets until I can use one without problems.
Thanks for your reply.
Is the BT fix going to be unique to the service provider or will it be a Broadcom generic fix?
For example, I have the Orange SPV M2000 - would I be able to use whatever fix comes out for the MDA III or do I need to wait for Orange UK to release a fix specifically for their flavour of Blueangel.
Thanks!
I've been living with this cracking sound from the Jabra (paired to my XDA2) for almost a year now!

Downgraded Bluetooth

I originally got my M2000 with BT 1.0.0.3500.
It worked OK with my Southwing headset but I heard that getting the upgrade to 1.6.0.600 would improve the sound quality.
I upgraded and there was very little improvement, if any.
I then noticed that the connection with my headset was very erratic.
The headset would connect ok and the m2000 would repond correctly to me pressing, double-pressing or tripple-pressing the control button on the headset. If I made a call from the handset it would be transferred to the headet. However, this would only happen for one call. Once I had made and terminated one call it would get kinda stuck and not reset itself so I could not use the headset properly. The only way I could fix this was to turn off the headset, do a reset on the m2000 and then switch on and reconnect the headset.
Finally got fed up and downgraded back to 1.0.0.3500 and it's all OK again.
Anyone else had similar problems ?
southwing and bluetooth
I just bought a southwing bluetooth headset and couldn't wait to get started. Little did I know that the pain was just about to start.
I am using an Orange SPV M2000 with the 1.12.22 WWE ROM and Radio version 1.04, build 2200 of bluetooth stack 1.00 build 2200. Not sure if this is the problem.
Anywaythe Southwing sounds fine when i use it but the volume that its sends to the other party is about 10 times to low and even when yelling I can't be heard well. Is this a known problem with either the Blue Angel phones or SouthWing headsets? Is it easy to upgrade to a newer bluetooth stack? Is this something I should do?
Sorry to reply to your question with another question but do you find the volume levels acceptable on your SouthWing?
I have had a lot of complaints from callers when I use my southwing including too quiet, static and background noise, voice cutting in and out, sounding like I'm in a tunnel etc.
Fortunately it has also fallen apart, i.e. the grey rubber eargrip bit keeps coming off the main body.
I bought mine at expansys so they said I could just send it back for a refund.
I have just bought a Cardo Scala 500 (also from expansys) which should arrive tomorrow.
It looks pretty cool and the reviews says the sound quality is excellent.
It also has an alternative to the round-the-ear grip which is a little stem that clips onto the arm of your glasses. Exellent for me as I wear specs.
I would seriously think about upgrading your ROM to 1.31.00 and then patching your BT Stack.

Bluetooth Headset - Bad Sound Quality

Hello,
how can I improve the sound quality of my bluetooth headset?
I've tried several headsets of different manufacturers
(I work at a mobile phones distributor so I had some to choose )
and with also different phones.
Nokia, Siemens, Motorola... almost every phone worked well with almost every headset.
But with my MDA-III it's a nightmare
Every headset I've tried has noise and clicking sounds and only works acceptable within about 50cm
I' also updated my Bluetooth Stack to 3900 but it didn't helped.
It there any way to get my Headset (Jabra BT250v) to work?
Thanks in advance,
Dino
hmmm - have to admit I've been attempting to use an I-tech headset (the cheapest one with the "tie-clip" mic and a wired earpiece) and I thought the poor reception (but only with certain phone calls oddly) was the headset being cheap tat - not the phone!
Every headset I've tried has noise and clicking sounds and only works acceptable within about 50cm Sad

I too run .3900 and radio 1.08 I always had the *VERY SAME* trouble that you describe here..
I tried Ericsson 600 and 660 heatdsets, and I bought an EpoX HS02-BT it works for well over 10 meters with any Nokia or Ericsson phone I tested, It even works 10 meters with "QTEK S100" - but my 9090 sucks in this area.
I wonder if my (and yours) 9090 is somehow defect.

the posts around here state the BT stack from MS is faulty , just wondering if other Smartphone with WM have the some problem
I'm just waiting for a piece of sw that takes all us out of this incredible fiasco !

well I am answering my own post, ,
the working features are,
1. smooth A2DP (skipping in case of high proc. usage e.g. wifi brosin and stereo bt music simultanous)
2. after a call music resumes and in the earphone.
3. AVRCP
4. Caller ID ! u can see both the name & the number on the lcd ( with jetware ).
regards
I'll have the Jabra BT620s in the mail today... I'll post a review asap.
Jabra BT headphone
As promised;
I got the Jabra headset yesterday, and last night I was able to try it. First of all, sound quality is better than expected. Setup was somewhat confusing, since the manual is not so clear. But, I managed. Made a couple of phonecalls, all fine. Overall, nice set of headphones. Luckily, the flashing blue leds can be turned off.
Hi
I use the Anycom BSH-100. The Headset is not bad at all, with HS/HF/A2DP/ AVRRCP and a up to 200 h standby + upto 12 h music playtime.
Tech data here: http://www.anycom.com/products/bluetooth_audio_video/stereo_headset_bsh_100/?id=102&partno=CC3300
There is no buildin Microphone. A small (about 3 cm) mic is attacht to the side mini usb-jack. This mini usb-jack is also used to charge the batteries. Most of the time i forgett the mic, when charging the Headset, so i use the Headset often to listen to mp3s and recive calls without using the headset. ( a bild in Mic would be better) The headset goes to mute when a call comes in.
picture here: http://files.anycom.com/images/products/lifestyle/cc3300_lifestyle_01.jpg
+ (plus):
Handling is very easy.
Long Standby & playtime
small transport size (faltable)
- (minus):
seperate Mic
Sound Quality is OK but not as good as a normal wired-headset. (maybe normal for BT)
no option to turn of the flashing blue led
best regards Oliver
Hi, Anyone using Jabra Bt320 with the Touch? I tired to connect for stereo headset but its fails. I had the same problem with Dopod 810 but some after making some changes in the registry the problem was solved. I tired the same tweaks in Touch but it fails. Any suggestion from the forum? Thanks
I used the BT320
and the stereo was fine. I also made the adjustments to the registry and it carried on working fine.
However, I sent the unit back because I bought a Jabra 120s with it and found that, after initial pairing problems (which went away), there was an audio lag which made watching TV rubbish!
When you pair with the BT320s, you should have the option to use it as either
1. a hands-free or
2. wireless stereo.
If you don't, delete the device from your Touch then...
...plug the BT320s into it's charger, three times, for 4 seconds each time.
Now pair again and the option for wireless stereo will magically appear.
Try Motorola S9. Nice and solid. Matches Touch design too.

You get what you pay for comes to mind with BT headsets.
I have yet to come across one headset that plays great stereo sound
and gives you great call quality. However, for stereo sound the Motorola
S9 kicks arse over anything out there and the Jawbone does the voice
calls better than anyone out there. S9 is around $100US and the Jawbone
is $130US ish. Not cheap but you won't be looking to replace them because
they don't do their job. Now if you have a big melon the S9 maybe a problem.
AE!
Hi.
I got the HT820 from Mototola.
Sound is good.
Easy installation on Touch.
Noise cancelling.
Looks a little bit spacy but fits good.
AND I payed 12€ for it on ebay.de.
I use BT320s
Hi,
I am using Jabra BT320s, It just works fine with my Touch. I did the in pairing initially, but after I upgraded with latest firmware I don't have any problem in pairing.
firmware can be found here
http://rapidshare.com/files/51865424/JabraBT320swebupdate_1077.zip
Please read the instruction to update the firmware
Well i got the Motorola BT820 last week, very satisfied
great sound nice volume, little weakness but accepteble by my standard
when theres a lot of static noise the build in mic does piick up on that a bit.
i use it for mp3 mostly, and o yeah its comfortoble too
price is nice if i compare to other headsets,
still thinking about trying the new logitech headset
is there anybody who has experienced it
I have posted a question regarding a small problem with the Bb20s right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326489
This is a description of my problem, as posted. Does anyone have an idea?
---
Received my Jabra 620s yesterday. First impressions: it is quite big and heavy, but it is better than earplugs ;-) Sounds quality is quite good.
Here is my problem: After pairing the headset with my device, everything behaves as expected until some event (this happend on multiple occasions, different trigger but the same result): the headset controls still function (i.e. I can skip songs etc), but the HTCs audio is routed to the HTC speaker instead of the headset. I cannot fix this, the only way is to remove the bluetooth connection, repair and I am good to go again.
I'd second the comment on the Motorola S9. I got the S9 to go with my old magician, but now that I've upgraded to the Touch, things are even better.
The S9 workd flawlessly for stereo music and also as a regular hands free headset. I can't tell you how many times I've been out jogging, litening to music and I get a cal from people. They say the call sound quality is good, but always wonder why I'm breaking fast.
I hve changed to HTC BH S100 (in-ear is better for jogging)
sound quality is good, no problems...yeah should be no problems when using HTC stuff only ;-)
i found the Motorola S9s to be outstanding. I have never been so happy with a BT headet.
Sony DR-BT30 Q
Got it for 34 euro's and they make me happy.
Good reach on the touch compared to my wizard

bluetooth stereo headset

Hi,
I am looking for a bluetooth stereo headset that supports A2DP, has CLI and works fine (compatible) with Artemis ( p3300).
The SE hbh-ds980 fits my bill, but I am facing problems with it( mic vol. on headset too low; opp. party can barely hear me). The other two headsets i found so far are SE hbh-ds970 and Nokia hs-12w. Is any1 here using the above mentioned headsets with no problem?
Thanks in advance!~
Hi,
I`m using a Jabra BT620 A2DP headset on my MDA Compact III, works fine!
thanks for the suggestion emiletelkamp...Any more inputs?
bump....
I use the Nokia HS-12W which has fairly good quality audio, but seems to need the PDA to be very close to it to work without skipping.
I usually clip the "body" of the HS-12W to the front of my shirt then put my Artemis (running WM6) in my shirt pocket - Works like a charm that way!
It doesn't natively support CLI, but I believe JetwareMobile can enable this, but I haven't tried it.
I've looked around and there are a few good stereo (earbud) headsets on the market. I also wanted to use my psp through bluetooth also(with the aid of the Ever-E A377 dongle).
My search narrowed down to:
Jabra BT320
Sony HBH DS970 or the 980
The Sony's seem to be the best two alternatives, and have had good reviews.
I'm probably going to go with the 970 as i wouldn't mind being able to control my music from both devices via AVRCP.
I'll get it at the end of the month and see how i do.
DS980 is a lot better than 970, so it does worth the money diffrence.
I couldn't see any features on the 980 that were better, i just put it down to one being silver and one being black.
I'll do some more research.
Cheers!
It's battery lasts 4-5 hours, wich is one hour longer than the battery life of ds970. It has a better and faster software. You can acces your call register(and the phone book also but i couldn't get it work yet).
Sorry to get slightly off topic but I have just bought a Jabra BT320 after reading this and other posts and cant seem to get the stereo (music) to work.
It just plays through the phone speaker, not the headphones, but the handsfree side of it seems to work.
Can anyone help me with this one please?

Its an nice one just bought it. Didn't get the phonebook to work either have you found a solution yet?
By the way how did you get the track playing in your display?
Motorola H820s
They're around 15UKP on Amazon, they sound great, they charge off USB and the battery lasts for ever, and they have AVRC buttons too. Work great with my Wizard, Artemis, Macbook Pro under Leopard, Belkin Tunestage, etc etc - can pair to 8 different devices too.
ds980
The ds980 works like a charm.
To bad the microsoft bluetooth stack is rubbish so don't expect the track titles and phonebook to show up.
Call history and caller id work!
After some research I found out track titles aren't showing due the lack of the latest Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) version in our phone.
The phonebook only works if Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) is installed on our phones...
Now lets hope there is some wizzard who can help us with this.
