How to fix GSM Error Problem ....
Download the XDA-Developers ROM Version 1.1.
Install the ROM on your Device via SD-Card and bootloader.
The phone should start up and give you the screen allignment and the whole menu!
Download an Upgrade for your device. This depends ont the model you are using. Check the sticker at the back of your device.
If it is a PW10A-Model download RSU Version 4.16.
If it is a PW10B-Model download RSU Version 6.24.20.
Extract the downloaded ZIP-File and copy all files to the /Windows directory of your device.
Copy the RSUpgrade.exe additional to the /windows/startup directory.
Make an soft reset of your device.
Maybe the upgrade will stop again at 1%, this may occur when you have an empty battery.
Place your device in the cradle. Run Active Sync on your device.
The RSU Upgrade will run in the background.
Wait for about 10 Minutes. The upgrade should complete in the background....
Afterwards all should work again...
Good luck....

My MDA Pro start up screen as Imate, Can I change?

I have upgrade my MDA Pro from German rom to English, but the start up screen is Imate, anyone can tell me how to change back to T-mobile?
check the blue angel forums, there is something there, or was it the xda ii forum (cant remember proper name for those).
try it and report back ;-)
mine's returned as faulty so I can't help.
how did you did the upgrade ? didn't you got the country error ?
i to want to know this
i get country id error
we need the string from running getdevicedata on mda pro and jasjar.
can anyone be so kind to do this and post the result. it's a txt file.
thanks
Update
Hello I updated my MDA pro with the Jasjar update.
I unpacked the romupdate with winrar and replace the ROMUpgradeUt with the MaUpgradeUt_noID that you can download in this section of the universal pages.
The first time you start the update it wil tell you the your countrycode isn't right. but it wil shift in to bootloader mode and when you start the update the second time it wil update your ppc without problems. Do not reboot after the first update but just try it again in bootloader mode.
Good luck it works like e clock and You get MSN, SKYPE and even a version of etrust antivirus that you can install.
what do you mean by
" Do not reboot after the first update but just try it again in bootloader mode.
"
and how are you reseting the device ?
i did it 10 times.
i'm stuck into bootloader.
the upgrade with the patched file works 100% but then ...
when i'll pull of the usb cable and try the reset (power + reset) or it is not working
any ideeas
thanks

Hello!
Is the correct file there uploaded. I was trying it but is seems to be for the
Magician. No luck for the MDA Pro.
nope. not working.
Update
For me it worked like a charm
Even with the radio update
So I can't see why it won't work with you
Upgrade
I'll try and explain again my way of installing:
I downloaded the update from Imate I unpacked the update and then I unpacked the executable with winrar. In the directory where the exe is unpacked I put the patchfile the I have uploaded for you (unpacked offcourse).
The I used that patchfile to start the update the first time it shuts down active sync 4.0 and reconnects in bootloader mode. You get a countrycode error.
the MDA is still in bootloader mode.
Now i restart the update and the install begins after the update you can reset your MDA pro. and it wil come with a IMATE splashscreen whereafter you can select your networksettings from your phonecompany.
then it wil install the new cabfiles from the rom.
That's how it went with my installation.
gpsenzo68
Isnt you mda pro a wwe rom already?

This worked for me as well. This first time I tried to run it I got a incorrect ROM version error message. Than I found out that I renamed MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe into MaUpgradeUt.exe instead of ROMUpgradeUt.exe. After renaming the file correctly gpsenzo68's explanation works just fine!
The first things I notice with the new imate ROM:
MSN (messenger works without having to buy the app (can sign in )!), Skype, Backgammon, more program memory, got rid off T-Mobile dialer skin, media player fullscreen stretch bug has not been fixed in this release.
MDA PRO ROM
MY ROM WAS THE ORIGINAL ROM FROM T-Mobile and now its a wwe rom
original german or english rom?
MDA Pro
NL Rom as you can see ;-)) So English
will your updated in this topic works
but it wont start after its done
its just says bootloader.
i really need the new updater to be hacked
it gets a string from the device.
someone able to hack this?

Downgrading to WM2003 problems.

Hello ppl,
I have upgrading my PDA2k to WM5 but now I'd like to downgrade to WM2003.
I followed the instructions by doing.
reset,
pressing record and camera,
make 2nd and 3rd option YES,
press messages,
setup the device,
doing a power+camera+reset
it went to Serial/USB screen.
I run the Maupgrade but when I click next to "check the device" it shows no versions, and when I click next it cannot upgrade.
when I click on reset and try to run the maupgrade while the operating system is running it shows the version that I want to install but when I click on next it cannot upgrade.
any ideas?
thanks.

I did that step by step.
I told you what is the problem man, when it goes to the serial/usb screen it does not recognise the version
I am waiting for it to check a lot of time and then it shows that it cannot upgrade.
if I run Maupgrade while it is booted it shows the versions but cannot upgrade

However, if you are installing a rom on a device other than that which it is meant for, you will get a Device ID error, so follow these steps:
First Method (Quick/Easy) (TYPE II)
Download update to desktop
Unrar or unzip all files in exe or rar into a new folder
Open the folder with the extracted files
Download this file: MaUpgradeUt_noID.ZIP
Extract MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe from this file and place it with the other upgrade files.
Run this new exe file instead of BaUpgradeUt.exe to update your rom
If you get an error the first time, run MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe again without touching your device (don't take it out from the cradle, don't reset it, don't touch it at all!)

I've got the same problem.
Try this:
Remove PDA form craddle
Uninstall ActivSync 4.x
reboot PC
Remove [or rename] directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync
Remove [or rename] directory C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\ApplicationData\Microsoft\ActiveSync
Install ActiveSync 3.x [you can find this version on your original CD]
reboot PC
Don't synchronize, don't pair [!!!]
Kill winword.exe, outlook.exe etc
Don't kill rapimgr, wcescomm, etc
Start bootloader [power+record+reset]
put PDA into the craddle [now should display "USB" instead of "Serial"]
start MaUpgrade_noID or BaUpgrade [probably it wil not recognize software versions, but don't worry]
Good luck
give feedback if it's working, pls
i run the procedure exactly as you instruct me.
and at the point where it starts upgrading it finishes after 2 seconds with message: Successful upgrade.
Do you have NBF files in the directory, where BaUpgrade or MaUpgrade_noID is dtored? For example - nk.nbf
It looks, that BaUpgrad [or MaUpgrade_noID] can connect now and is ready to downgrade, but there is nothing to downgrade.
yes I have the files.
let me explain again the problem.
with activesync 3.0 it happens the above problem
and at the point where it starts upgrading it finishes after 2 seconds with message: Successful upgrade.

with activesync 3.8 it does not even connect
or maupgrade stays and checks for versions forever.
re leventes,
anybody has any idea?
These all files need to downgrade from WM5 to 2003 SE on BA.
Put all these files into one folder.
1. MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe
2. RUU.conf
3. RUU.dll
4. nk.nbf <---------- The most important file, because this file is ROM. When you run MaUpgrade, it will search what ROM do you have. In you're case maybe you don't have this file. That's why there's nothing show in version ROM....

Nothing more. Sorry.
I saw this problem while downgrage my IIs and I did the following:
First you need: MS ActiveSync 4.1 installed on your Desktop PC (If yes, the first time you see "Connection error" you need to restart you destop PC before downgrage). Connect your device let ActiveSync conected and..
1. Press Power + Soft Reset button
2. Fast press both Camera + Record at the same time before
3. The Record button to move down and the Camera button to change status. You should set 2nd & 3rd option to Yes ( It's boot with format Registry & Storage on your PPC). You will see the white screen for a few minute and next the color stripe. It means you device is booting
4. Press all Power + Soft Reset + Record + Camera at a time( It's not easy . The screen will display Serial & version ready to up/downgrage
5. Run MaUpgrageNo_ID (should put in the same folder with nk.nbf, ms_.nbf &...) This tool will skip some error for up/downgrage, you may try more time if first time see error.
I did that and succeeded but can anyone tell me why my device can't receive Delivery Report? I'm sure that my current ROM version have it (I used this for a time). Please help me!

Complete idiots guide needed, please!

It might be very simple to all you educated guys, but I am sure there are a few more like me that are a bit baffled by some of the threads on here.
What would be REALLY nice would be a 'simple' step-by-step guide to installing wm6 on our devices, and what we need to download to achieve it, eg "you need this for MDACIII, and this for O2 Orbit"
Obviously anyone trying it runs the risk of buggering up their phone, but that's their own fault.
Any volunteers?

having asked the same question myself here goes.
Download USPL and follow the instructions. they are very clear.
Download
extract
connect phone with minimum 50% battery
soft reset and once started up fully run the app by clicking on Rom Update utility
follow the process through once finished your device will restart.
once restarted you then can flash the rom of your choice
I used Black and Blue again ran the update utility and bingo.
dont forget that all data on your device will be lost so make sure you have back up of contacts etc in outlook on pc.
Finaly make sure you have Activesync 4.5
enjoy
AS STATED ALTHOUGH THIS WORKS YOU ALL DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
Id just like to know really is that how many people have done it without unlocking the device for o2 orbit uk. i have one and am not really willing to try it unless i know there are people out there that have tried it and it worked.
as there is no rom install file from o2 for this, there is no way bacj and bricked phone is the only way forward. id like not to brick my phone as i need it daily.
so, has anyone with a locked o2 device upgraded to WM6 successfully and which rom did you use if it worked.?

Taken from Bepe's thread about the modified o2 German update. Basically you need to use the Artemis USPL program and then use the first link to install which I did successfully on a CID locked phone.
Thanks guys, but, unfortunately, the uspl thing does not work on my pc
Along with a few others I get the 'black screen' on my mdac3 then activesync disconnects and the rom loader throws up an error
Luckily my mdac3 survives through a soft reset
I think the idiots guide is not quite there yet
hi..
i have O2 uk orbit.. which is still locked, i fully charged the battery, completed a hard reset of the phone used the pof Artemis Update SPL (USPL) v.01 upgrade (wow what a brain box he is!) just in case it failed, so i could you use any NBH file to get you orbit to work again if i failed. Then used Bepe's WM6 os.nb file renamed it to windows.nb downloaded ATRE.zip unzipped the ARTE.zip file placed the windows.nb into the same directory, don't forget to edit UpgradeRom.bat file 0x3900000 to 0x3500000 with in the ATRE directory and copied and installed EnableRapi.cab to the phone. Reset it the phone and then started the UpgradeRom.bat! 12 mins later upgrade complete. Hard restart the phone.. Chewing nails by now... all went well did a soft reset of the phone before the O2 ExtROM autorun starts..
sorted, and did half way though a night shift at 3 am.. not bad at all!

Confused... is it really necessary to take all these steps? I thought that the only thing required is to run Pof's tool USPL, and after that run Romupdateutility.exe from the package in .nbh format (the link is just a few messages above yours). Please correct me when I'm wrong.

OK, I volunteered... This is a detailed list of steps how I installed a new ROM on my MDA Compact III (CID locked, at least I think so). It worked without any errors or problems. I used PDAVIET Black&Blue v2.0. It was my first flash on my Artemis, so I more than understand your need for step-by-step guide
1. download the file Artemis_USPL.zip
2. unpack into the folder c:\USPL
3. download the file ARTEMIS_Black_Blue_v2.zip
4. unpack into the folder c:\ROM
5. soft reset your phone and have it charged over 50% (I have it fully charged)
6. wait until the system starts on your Artemis
7. turn on flight mode (probably not necessary, but I wanted to minimize any risks)
8. connect your Artemis to PC with a USB cable
9. wait until ActiveSync icon in your tray (lower right corner of your windows desktop) turns from gray to green. If you connect your Artemis for the first time to PC, you do not need to set up synchronization, just click "cancel" on the first screen of "Synchronization Setup Wizard"
10. while ActiveSync icon is green, run c:\USPL\start_uspl.exe
11. a DOS screen will pop up with the text "Initializing: 0.." in the bottom indicating probably seconds from the start (it stopped around 70 in my case after about 1.5 min)
12. DOS screen disappears and PDA Phone ROM update utility pops up
13. at the same time, your Artemis turns blank (orange/green LED turns off as well)
14. tick the check box next to " I understand..." and then click Next
15. tick the check box next to " I completed..." and then click Next
16. a box saying "Verifying information on your PDA..." pops up
17. on the next screen click Update button
18. next screen says "Upgrade to ... image version 9.99" - click Next
19. Next screen says "You are now ready to update..." - click Next, a window with a blue progress bar appears with a text "Updating ROM image..", it quickly runs to 100%
20. next screen says "Congratulations! ..." - click Finish
21. your phone turns on and boots into your old system, however it should be CID unlocked now
22. your Active Sync should reestablish and icon turns green again
23. do not touch anything (phone or USB cable) and run C:\ROM\ROMUpdateUtility.exe (make sure activesync icon is green)
24. PDA Phone ROM Update utility window appears, tick the check box next to " I understand..." and then click Next
25. tick the check box next to " I completed..." and then click Next
26. a box saying "Verifying information on your PDA..." pops up
27. on next screen click Update button (says "Current information...")
28. next screen says "Upgrade to ... image version BnB2.0" - click Next
29. Next screen says "You are now ready to update..." - click Next
30. a window with a blue progress bar appears with a text "Updating ROM image..", your Artemis will have light gray screen with blue progress bar showing the progress of flashing - do not touch anything and wait (it took 2-3 minutes on my 3 years old PC)
31. next screen says "Congratulations! ..." - click Finish
32. your Artemis turns on and starts booting, you can disconnect it from PC now
33. the boot screen remains the same (T-Mobile in my case), so do not panic!! it is normal
34. wait until calibrate the screen appears, calibrate, choose time zone and you are ready to use your new OS
35. let me know if this manual was clear enough, whether it helped you and please suggest potential changes for improvement
Take care,
Dzim
i've just succesfully flashed my dutch CID-LOCKED MDA Compact 3 with this method, so i'd say it's reasonably fool-proof
A couple of questions before i take the plunge - if my t-mobile cmda iii is already CID unlocked, can i just go straight to the update rom part.
Also, is there any way of dumping my standard t-mobile rom first off? I'm having trouble trying to use itsutils due to the app lock.
Cheers Dzim!

There is a TMobile rom on here somewhere already, I just cant find it at the moment
My Compact 3 it’s death now. After pres voice commander button MDA start only to the boot loader. Can’t run complete system.
Pleas tell me. How can I write the new rom with WM5 or WM6 ?
OOPS! Working well apart from the "cant save word documents" bug!!
Just an update - to use the v1 or v2 black and blue, even though it is unlocked, you still need to use the supercid util.
Otherwise you get the rom update getting to 3% before crashing out to say the rom is corrupted.
I've now converted 2 other tmobile compact mda IIIs successfully, wm6 is much quicker
Yes, with my Compact was exactly as You say. Now is death. What I can do now to repair it.
big thanks to Dzim, used the idiots guide and now on wm6 =D
cheers!

Solution: If this happens, you can just soft-reset the device and run RUU again. The update process will then continue.
Note: At this stage, the Wince is destroyed; instead, it is in upgrade mode."
What do you recommend to do?
I repeated the process 5 or 6 time, the same stop, at 34% and even recovery is useless

there are a couple of things you can try...
1st off, put the phone in bootloader mode (hold "volume down" button and press reset with pen) then flash using a windows XP machine with no running services such as Anti Virus/firewall etc.
if not, try hard SPL developers edition, and then flashing it...

That would be impossible in bootloader mode using the current toolchain.
The Hard SPL uses a soft SPL that has to be loaded into RAM from within Win CE.
This Soft SPL forces the device to think that it's CID unlocked, and letting the actual Hard SPL flash to the device.
Maybe a hard reset would help:
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_diamond_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html
Good luck to you friend.
May be the file u have is corruped, try another ROM!!
Which OS did you use to upgrade from?
Have you tried to use a PC with XP (proffesional) with activesync 4.5 installed?
if all fails:
-kill wcecomm.exe on the PC (with taskmanager) (or disable activesync)
-put Diamond into bootloader..
-Run the official RUU again.
(worked for me on other devices too.. )
All is not lost..

Hi gabib77.
As long as you can get the coloured bootloader screen all is not lost, you can still flash your Diamond in the bootloader mode, i.e run the rom update from your PC as normal.
I would first suggest you reflash back to the original rom, try here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=399680, I am not sure what the "QMR" info you stated on the upgrade rom means, but the second link from the HTC Diamond ROM's List is for the WWE version (1.35.401.3 WWE)
If you cannot flash your Diamond in bootloader mode, then try a hard reset first as mentioned on this thread first.
If you all goes ok then go to http://modmydiamond.info/ for more info on flashing.
Good luck.
I solved the problem... my problem happened because I try to upgrade from 1.35.401.3 to 1.93.401.2...
I put the official 1.37.401.2, then I upgraded to 1.93.401.2 WWE and everything is perfect now...
Thanks everyone for the help

How to upgrade ROm with nbh file

As newbie on this, anyone please guide me step by step to upgrade my P3300 rom with nbh file. My device is unlock already with current ROM 5.2.1908 (build 18125.0.4.2).
The procedure is given in almost every thread. It's simple really. Is your SPL version anything other than 1.11.0000 or 1.11.cmon? If yes then your phone is not unlocked. Unlock your phone by running USPL from here or the updated USPL from here.
Check if the USPL has worked by checking your SPL number. During phone booting at the white HTC screen your SPL should show either 1.11.0000 ir 1.11.cmon.
If it does you are free to flash any ROM. Get the ROM of your choice, put your phone into bootloader mode by pressing the voice record, power key and reset button simultaenously for about 5 seconds till you see a three colored screen. Attach it with USB and flash the rom using RUU.
thanks randythered for ur reply. I did w/o problem on USPL but how to use the nbh extention? where that nbh file I shall put in? pc or devise or on specific folder? I got the three colors already, then what next? pl. enlighted

do u have only .nbh file or along with .nbh file any other files are there ?
generally along with the .nbh file there are other files like romupdateutuility.exe etc.,
download those files also and save those files into your PC.
after unlocking your device then staup the device with bootloader mode (three color screen)
connect the Device with the PC by USB cable.
in the device display u will a word USB (left bottom corner)
run the Romupdateutility from the PC...
the process will guide u next steps ...
after the completion u will have new OS
Last I would recommend tht u also upgrade you Radio ROM (this is responsible for all the communication functions of ur phone i.e. calls, GPS, WiFi etc) which will enhance the communication capabilities.
Radio ROMs Link : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index..._RadioUpgrades.
Note : before flashing any ROM or upgrading the RADIO kindly CID unlock your device or you will end up the with bricked device .
You can download my ROMs, they come with the full package
trying upload but without success...
after remember operation will take 10 minutes
it displays
"Error [270]: UPDATE ERROR
Image file is corrupted. Please check your Update Utility"
Did I miss something here? Pl. help

As sixthsigma said, did you check if the phone is correctly unlocked? Is the SPL showing 1.11.0000 or 1.11.cmon?
Secondly, what OS are you flashing on? XP, Vista or Windows 7?
Hi Randythered, IPL 1.25.0001 and SPL 1.27.0000
I am using your ROM RtR Manila v1.0
using XP
Well, firstly thank you for wanting to try out my ROM
Secondly, you haven't unlocked your phone properly yet. The SPL must be 1.11.0000 or1.11.cmon, depending on which USPL you use.
strange... hv tried several time but w/o luck...
now I notice that it cut out after '70' and jump into 100 with disconnecting
any choices of other USPL instead of the one attached here?
Did you flash the old USPL or the new one which is nosize? It is preferable to install the old one first. And then go for the cmon nosize USPL if need be.
From a noob to a noob
Hi, heres the procedure for upgrading your rom put as noob friendly as i can put it.
WHAT YOU NEED
1. HTC Artemis p3300
2. computer running Windows XP with activesync installed
3. Usb cable to connect to computer
4. The new rom that you want to flash
5. And USPL which can be downloaded at this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403
NB: For most of the newer roms you will probably need the updated nosize version of uspl http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521406
PREPARATION
NB: Anything you need to backup or keep from your device do it now.
NB: in some cases you may have to hard reset your device before it will take the flash
1. Extract Uspl to your desktop
2. Extract the rom you downloaded to your desktop
3. Remove your sim chip and memory card from your device
4. Reset your device and sync with windows xp
UPDATING
1. In the USPL folder run the program called "start_uspl" and let it do its thing in the dos window,in
my case it goes to 70 and then jumps to 100,if you have been watching your device screen you will
see the linux penguin for a few seconds and it will change to a white screen.
A window will popup on your computer, do as it requests, when finished it will reset your device.
Sync your device with your computer again.
2. In your downloaded rom folder you should find a file called "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" or "Ruu.exe", run
it and a window will popup, do as it requests.
Your device screen will go tri-color(red,green,blue) and the rom update will begin, wait till it
finishes and thats it.
thanks soloman1 and others
finally I got it with removing the sim card and memory card prior to upgrading

Sixthsigma...you said - "unlock the device properly with USPL..." - how do I do that?
I got the same error as mentioned when trying to flash using the numb3rs ROM:
http://thewingster.com/numb3rs.aspx
I ran the herald-uspl.exe file. and ended up with teh above error. My TMo Wing has the original ROM on it and the phone itself is probably unlocked. Ive had it for a year now. Do I need to call TMo to unlock or is there some app I can run to do this myself?
appreciate any help!
nevermind, it worked ok on the second attempt!
