1 speaker? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

my sound when playing anything, or even adjusting the sound, it only comes out of the right ear, whats up with that? with XDA II it came out of both..., BUT the default earbuds that O2 gave me work fine, sound comes out of both ears, but when I use my converter I used on my old O2 XDA II, it wont work right... I use the converter because my ears don't work well with earbuds, I've tried different headsets on the converter, it must be the converter... any ideas? but I also bought and tried a different converter, got the same result. can I get a new one that I know works or somethin guys?

Wiggle the connector
Hi had this problem also, Just pull the connector a little bit out of its socket, very dodgy, but it works. I bought like 3 adaptors, until I figured this out lol.
Let me know how u go.

works great thank you so much

no prob
no problem, glad to be of service

xda2 headphone work with xda2s

hi
i have an xda2s an have relised that the original xda headphones dont work (only one side of the headphone works) with this phone neither does the c500 headphones or the e200 even though there all 2.5, i have many brand new 2.5 to 3.5 converters but now they dont work on the xda2s as well i presume its something to do with polarity, my question is does the xda2 headphone work with the the xda2s, the xda2 headphones are the ones with the answer andend call buttons plus the dial.
thanks alot.
btw ive lost my original headphones to soldering wouldnt help
Mine don't work. In fact they don't even fit because the XDA2 headphones have a wierd plastic bit on the jack which means they only fit the XDA2.
thats weird because my uncle has the xda 2i and that fits fine into my xda2s and that two has the answer and endcall buttons as does the one i want to buy,the htc people make it very dificult by making the 2.5 headphones not work with some modles. does the supplied xda headphone that you have also have the end and answer button. thanks
yeh, i know wat u mean...i have the same problem with the 2.5 to 3.5 conveter...with only one earphone working...if u fiddle with the postioning you will find that i works... so the theory that i have come up with is that i think the connections on the "jack" itself is different to standard, if you look on the "jack" there are 3 rings around it, which is left speaker, right speaker and micraphone...so i think that the rings are in a different order so when u plug anything else in it uses one side as a speaker and the other side as a micraphone...Well at least thats what i think but im sure its pretty accurate...but im open for correction...and if anyone has a solution to the problem then let us know... im using some earphones from motorola with a 2.5 jack and they are working perfectly, quality is a bit better than xda2s earphones, but thats about the best i could do...
hope there is a solution soon, i guess we just need the right 2.5 to 3.5 converter...if there is one...
I also had the same problem. When I bought mine new PDA2K device I tried to use my old XDAII headset and you're right -- it doesn't fit and it doesn't work. On www.expansys-usa.com I bought the PPC Techs 2.5mm/3.5mm converter for headset and for stereo headphone -- no luck doesn't work anymore with my new PDA2K.
I have noticed one thing though -- as standard 2.5 mm headset from RadioShack now works without any problems! I don't know why is it happening but they didn't work before with my previous XDA device... I also don't know if it is good or bad for PDA2K.
Does anyone know the internal wirings of new PDA2K and has it been declared that it will be officially compatible with the standard 2.5 mm headsets (which will been nice of course if it was).
Pretty good converters IMHO can be found at:
http://www.pocketpctechs.com/
thanks for all your imput.
my original questions was asked because ive lost my xda2s headset and was wondering if this headset from ebay would work with my phone. as i said before i have xda headphones that fit perfectly into the socket but yet only sound through one ear. im not intrested in a converter ive had enough of them. if i get a working headset then i may try the soldering later on.
could anyone just check if this headset may be compatible with the xda2s
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6411586495&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1
i know for sure the xda2i headphones work fine in my phone.
thanks for your help
No they won't. There's already a thread about this somewhere. I can't remember who said it but someone mentioned that HTC must have shares in the Jack company as they seem to change the adapter for EVERY handset. It's so annoying that the 2.5mm to 3.5mm converter doesn't work as I can no longer use my XDA with a cheapy iTrip in the car.

I got one but sadly does not work with my sony head unit in my car, but it did work with my co workers dock in the office
A little more expensive unit would be the blackberry gateway. Works very well, I have it setup in my car but streaming through pandora/slacker doesn't the greatest with it.
bought one too, friggin sony, thinking about trying a new kenwood deck seeing if that works...
I just bought a Clarion VX709. 7" touchscreen with HSF/A2DP profiles. I should be getting it installed some time this week. Can't wait!

I'm getting one of these and I have a Kenwood deck, I'll let ya know how it goes.
Someone mentioned they had theirs working with their Kenwood. They said returned off something like auto connection or something
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
i bought the cable to plug into the front USB on kenwoods to the apple 30-pin adapter. I'm going to take it and plug it into the demo unit at Best Buy to make sure it works when it arrives, lol . If that fails, I'll be being getting I think it's a belkin flex dock with aux out, and i'll see if that works.
I am using this in my car with an iSimple AUX/Charge cable and it works GREAT!
I bought two a couple of weeks ago - one for my car, the other for the house. Works great.
So you just plug this into the usb spot on your headunit, pair up for you phone to it and then play music? Sounds too good to be true?
No. You need an iPod cable that accepts audio and will charge the device. Then it will work.

Thats what i meant, muh bad.
Only downside to this is that it won't charge the phone
Bought this a couple years ago back when it was only 10 dollars. Works pretty well. Depending on your headunit or dock, the remote controls to pause/skip tracks also work too.
For those who have it, how do calls turn out? Like if you had this hooked up, streaming music through your headunit..and you get a call, whats it do? If it plays the other person through the speakers, how good is the quality? Does the mic just work off of your phone?
It only supports A2DP so no sound comes through for phone calls. This can only be used to stream music, but the speakerphone works pretty well.

Got ya..ill probably invest in this when i get my new truck, so i can have my ipod hooked up at all times and for those other opportunities where i want to stream music from my/someone's phone.
Yay for usb hubs!
A bit of an old topic, but is this working out for everyone? I might be selling my ipod touch and i need to be able to connect my phone to my cd player, so this is the route i might take.

Forgot to report back with results.
It works great and does what it says. very easy to hook up, but i notice a lack of bass... anyone have a solution for this?
I bought one of these a while ago to use with my old pre. Seemed to work well enough, except that most of the time I actually wanted to listen to my iPod instead of my phone, so I never really used it much. Ended up eventually buying a Sony deck that has full built in bluetooth in addition to an iPod connector, so this little doohickey has just sat in a box for months.
Ooh, I just thought of something! If I combine this thing I never use with this other thing I never use - an iPod FM Transmitter/Remote dongle, I could make myself a A2DP Bluetooth FM Transmitter with remote!

[Q] Need to charge and Listen to music at the same time

What should I buy to charge and listen to music at the same time. Would love to have something that would allow the headset that came with the phone and a normal (3.5 mm?) head set.
This looks good but one comment is that you cannot listen to music and charge.

I have one of these but it no longer charges and it has always produced some static while charging and listening.

What is everyone else using?
I use the adapter that came with my Tilt 2 (the first link above). It allows charging and plugging in 2 headsets at the same time. Didn't you get one with your phone?
I don't know what came with all other versions, but the European WWE version doesn't come with the adapter.

This is also the one that comes with the ATT tilt... works like a charm, just wish it wasn't so bulky...
Edit: oh... sorry, I am just repeating what you said. I thought when I first read it, you said you hadn't tried it on ATT or sprint devices. Clearly, I need to get some sleep. I'm going to log out now.
Actually, my HTC TP2 from T-Mobile did come with this one. I had put it away because the manual said something like an AVI out. I dug it out and it works = with a twist. If you plug in the 3.5mm headset plug all the way, the sound comes out of the speakers, if you unplug it just a little the sound comes from the headset. But the sound is not that good. It sort of sounds like the plug is not in all the way.
Is anyone getting this to work with a 3.5mm headset?

Jack problem

On my WFS jack connector jumps out about 1mm... it is big problem because it stop playing music. WHY? Does somebody have same problem?
Sent from my Wildfire S (root, cwm..)
i used to get this ALOT if i just use my standard headphones directly into the socket. even if it doesn't "pop out", the slightest movement of the headphone jack would cause it to "disconnect" and stop playing music.....VERY annoying.
I managed to "fix" it by simply buying, a cheap as chips headset adapter on amazon. I have no idea why this works, as the plug on the end looks identicle to the one on my headphones, but for some reason, if i use my headphones i get disconnects.....if i use the wired headset adapter then plug my headphones into that it works. no more disconnects.
like i said, no idea WHY this is the case, but it worked for me. i juse bought the cheapest one i could find, i think it was around £2 on amazon.

if your using the original headset, i would do as stated above or:
go back to the shop and ask a refund or repair.
if your using your own headphones:
try using your headphones in other devices (pc, mp3 player) and see if it does the same, if not contact the company where you bought your wfs if you still have warrenty, i would not accept this kind of hardware failure.
good luck with your headphones
GLORIS:
Well, i have Razer Electra headphones... it have support for HTC (mic on wire, 4-pin jack)
JACK ON BOTH, ELECTRA AND ORIGINAL HTC EARPHONES ARE SAME SIZE!!!
my theory: magnetic??? your jack from amazon is magnetic, check this now please
VitanyLTD:
phone is ok, original earphones from HTC connect perfect but others not.
YEP! HTC earphone JACK CONNECTOR IS MAGNETIC, SO WE NEED MAGNETIC 4-pin JACK CONNECTORS!!!!
best will be reduction JACK MALE 4pin to JACK FEMALE 4pin
AFTER THIS I HATE HTC FOR HARDWARE SUPPORT!
Looks my orginal htc headset is not orginal or something cus same thing happening to me.
that's a negative on the magnetism front :s
as I sayd... and headset adapter is magnetic?
no, neither the headset nor the headphones are magnetic. I can genuinely see absolutely no difference between the two plugs, but one works, one doesn't :s
then i don't know.
I to have problems with 3.5mm in car its loose any slight movement will turn off music. i will find an adapter to.
I need JACK 3.5mm 4pin reduction for my headphones.. On cable I have mic...
can somebody find it JACK 3.5mm 4pin male to JACK 3.5mm 4pin female? I can't find anything...

just ordered this. according to the listing there are 3 in the pack, and that's only around £2.70. So if it works out well, and anyone in the uk wants one I should have 2 spare when they arrive, just let me know if you want one and you can have it. I'll try it out first when they get here though. From the description, it sounds like it takes the 3.5mm 4 pin (with headset) and converts it to 3.5mm 3 pin (normal headphones). So it should be perfect if you don't want use of a mic/headset.
My headset cable adapter works well to be fair, but the extra cable does make thigns a bit unmanageable, so hopefully this adapter will work out a bit better
I had the same problem. After trying different headphones, I decided to take a small slotted screw driver.
Just stick it into the slot and turn it a few times without too heavy pressure and now everything works nice!

LOL, you should be a doctor... a surgeon man ... just stick your knife in a man without too much pressure, and it works out perfectly ... lol ... or maybe a butcher better
Haha...yeah, that's how I deal with my problems xD
No seriously, I was really worried before I did it but it worked out fine!
those plugs for headphones 'felt' cheap the first time i plugged my headphones... they rly have little something that stops you from plugging propperly so you just roll it few times, i did it with my hp-s...just roll and push a bit... and i smiled just how u did it with screwdriver xD
but the main thing is, that it works... you guys decide: screwdriver or headphones jack xD

I personally would go for a screwdriver and a hammer...
EDIT: I had that problem with a pair of Creative EP630 in-ear headphones (cheap eBay copy).
Since I bought my Sony MDREX-50LP (guaranteed original) never had that issue.
The sound with Poweramp is absolutely FANTASTIC.
Was so Angry when I first found this problam, I listen to a lot of music. I twisted the Headphone jack a couple of times and Voila!
Thank you Wfbml + b02!
Now I can enjoy my SteelSeries Siberia V2's as well as my Hi-Fi on my WFS!
Yes, I do have the Beats "Mod" Installed.
YES!!!
Sorry for digging up an old topic but I just had to say thank you so much for the screw driver fix : it worked like a charm and I can finally make use of my music again!

bad audio through car stereo

Hey all,
For some reason unbeknownst to me whenever i plug in my a100 to my Cadillacs stock tape adapter it sounds very distant. Like a small radio sitting on a shelf at the other end of a warehouse is the best way i can describe it. When hooked up to my headphones it sounds amazing but when i use the tape adapter it sounds horrible. Both mine and my GF's phones sound fine but the tablets sound is borderline unbearable. Ive also tried different media players and Pandora with the same result. Also i dont have it charging so im pretty sure its not cross interference. If it were it would pop and sound scratchy witch it doesn't the audio is clear, but like i said sounds really distant. Plz any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

The only thing I can tell you is play around with the jack once it is in the tablet. I know my headphone jack is long and if I push it all the way in it sounds distant like that. I have to pull it out a hair (yes only that much) and it works fine..... But a tiny bump and it sounds bad..... Headphones e jjacck was defective on my acerr when I got it. Sent it in and it works but is crap. I use my infuse for music anyway. That Wolfson DAC sound board with voodoo..... Amazing.

i suggest to get a new radio with a mini jack on the front they are less than 50 bucks. and if you shop around you can find one that will play mp3 cds that hold like 250+ songs depending on the compresion
I had the same problem in my Mercedes. Go into Settings and turn off the dolby mobile and give it another try. It worked for me. I'm using an A2DP bluetooth adapter in my aux port as well, so there were no physical issues causing my problems.
You could try to up the gain in audio settings if your using power amp
