Dial Pad skins - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I am sure this has been posted a 10000s times before but...... where can you get dial pad skins from
cheers JAY

Your best bet would be to get hold of Dialpad Maker Deluxe 2.0 from Bong's Workshop at http://www.hkscorpio.com/members/bong/ and make your own. it's dead easy to use and the author replies to questions very promptly.
More than worth the $7.90 that it costs from pocket gear.
OOPS, link fixed now

Download Area - Text msg notif. / Screen Lock / Bass Boost..

Hi,
Since joining this site only a few days ago (and I'll just take this opportunity to say thank you, it's an excellent site), I have downloaded some fantastic tools that I really needed and had no idea where to get -
* screen lock
* bass boost for Win Media
* Text message permenant notification
and I'm sure many more will come.
Why don't you create a download area, where useful tools like this can be found? You could just select which device you have, then a list of available downloads would appear. You could even have 'Essential' downloads, 'Fun' downloads etc etc.
Just a thought that would help document and manage all useful downloads in one place.
Keep up the great work!

I guess this is a low maintenance site, with only volunteers to keep it in order.
You could make this page yourself, if you want. Wiki is highly underrated.
More persons should get involved in maintaining it.
Trying to do something like that need everyones help

[.NET Controls] mirabyte Touch Controls

Hi guys,
as I told in the past, I developed finger friendly .net controls during the last 6 months.
Because of support, bug-fixing, etc. I have to sell them, so they are not for free, but they are very cheap.
If you are interested, have a look at the video or demo application at:
http://www.mirabyte.com/en/products/windows-mobile.html
Users of xda-developers will get a discount of 10%. Send me a PN to get the coupon code.
Greets,
Sascha
This is EXACTLY what I needed, glad its not hundreds of dollars either.
I'm very pleased to hear that the controls are exactly what you are looking for. That's the reason why I developed them ;-)
Let me know, if need further help or if you bought them.
Hey
This is really nice.... something which we all would like to incorporate
but the only problem is .. it is over-priced. Along with many professional developers .. there are students also who are developing mobile applications .. and ~= 70USD is kinda expensive.
But I am really impressed with the work.

New Release: Touch Controls Suite 2.0
Hello everybody,
Finally we have released the new version 2.0 of Touch Controls Suite which is now truly the leading controls library for creating “stylus-free”, finger-based touch applications on the Windows Mobile platform using the .NET Compact Framework (2.0 and 3.5!).
There are a lot of improvements and also several great new features that are waiting to be discovered by you!
More information about the new version can be found on our Website and in the latest posting in our blog.
A new video which shows the new features can be watch here.
We hope that you will like the new version of Touch Controls Suite!
Best regards,
Sascha
hi i am interested in using these controls but i cant find a real good guide of how to use them
there is a ggod manual with examples??

Hi,
you will find a documentation and a lot of sample applications with sourcecode included the download package. Also you will find how to's in our forum.

[APP] Mp3 Tag Editor

Hello!
As the name pretty much says it, this is an tag editor for mp3 files so they can be nicely displayed in the media player.
The use of the application is very simple:
- use the menu to open a mp3 file
- choose the category you want to modify (ID3v1, ID3v2, Front Cover or Back Cover)
- modify the fields according to your wishes
- use the menu to save the modifications
Remarks
- The application requires .NET Framework 3.5
- The application has been tested on HTC Touch HD with Windows Mobile 6.5 (VGA & WVGA resolutions) but it should work on Windows Mobile 5+ at all resolutions
- Please back-up your mp3 files before using this application. I've never had any problems but it's better to be safe than sorry
Release History
20.06.2010 - v2.0
* added support for ID3v2 tag
* added support for Album Art (Front Cover & Back Cover)
* added the ability to copy information between ID3v1 and ID3v2 (using the button at the end of each tag's page)
* updated Sense Interface SDK version to v1.39
24.05.2010 - v1.0 - Initial release
* support only for ID3v1 tag
Let me know what you think so we can make it better
The application uses the nice Sense Interface SDK created by eboelzner. Thank you!
IMPORTANT!!! Question regarding the next version
In order to easily add support for folder tagging and other media types, it would be best for the usability and for the performance of the application to remove the support for ID3v1 tag and Back Cover.
ID3v1 tag limits the length of the fields (e.g. Artist and Tile are limited to 30 characters) and it is used by media players only if the ID3v2 tag is not present, so I see no problem in using just the ID3v2 tag.
Regarding the Back Cover, I didn't find a media player that displays more than one picture from the mp3 file. That's why I think it's OK to keep only the Front Cover.
Because I value the opinion of the users of my application, I added a poll to this thread for you to decide. The poll will be open till 4 July so please state your opinion regarding the support for ID3v1 and Back Cover in the next version. Thank you!
If you find it useful... not required.
Awesome work!! I've been looking for an MP3 tag editor for a while. Keep up the good work!
very usefull..thanx u so much
HOORAY
god bless you
Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
I've been looking for this for a long time.
Sugestion for improvement:
capability for asking when it's about to erase all the ID3v2 tag info if we want to erase the album art as well.
Keep up the awesome work!
Hi,
this is a "must have" app.

ya, this is wonderful.
As I want to develop this kind apps for my next proj.
I use sense SDK 1.6 to develop an app , the main feature would be search lego brickset from local mobi by set code currently.
I mark this post for testing it tomorrow. Thanks.
Muchos Gracias mi amigo!!! I've been waiting on one of these for a wHile..
working well on HD2, thank you
You sir are a gem. Like others, I have been looking for this for a while. And with a Manila interface, it just puts the cherry on the cake.
Well done and a big thank you.
I haven't tried it yet, but I KNOW this is gonna be big.
Thanks in advance...
Can't wait to try it. I've wanted one of these for ages!
I hope next version will include
1. Album cover
2. Genre Input*
*write our own genre-no dropdown choice
I'll be giving this a try. Thanks!

This is what I always wanted!
I tried to programm this myself since 2007 but never found a mp3Tag library and had not the knowledge to create one on my one.
Very nice!!
I am realy thankfull and donated you directly a small number. (70W62315XY4288720)
I hope you will continue your work (add full folder and V2 support as well as work on performance). I will continue supporting you.
Thx man!

FBReaderJ Partial Refresh Now Works on Nook2!

I spent some time looking into the Nook2 device and have just got partial refresh working for FBReaderJ. And well, theoretically speaking we can get it work for anything as long as we have the source code.
Attached is my build of FBReader. You'll need to sign it and adb install it to your device. Some settings (turn off animation, colors...) will be necessary and bugs may exist as it's an early build.
----- Technical Details -----
There're two ways for Nook2 to determine which way to refresh:
1. Automatica - in an onDraw() session, if the sum of drawBitmap's Rect is larger than 50% of screen (the number's based on test, not so sure), go whole page refreshing
2. Manual - will have to choose the mode through JNI calls to Epson's e-ink library.
In the Nook2 release, somehow B&N didn't obfuscate the code, nor remove the tracing message, which makes analysis possible.
The screen-refreshing code of built-in reader lies in - /system/app/Reader.apk ->com.bn.reader.ui.ReadingViewSimpleMode
The JNI bridge java code is in - system/lib/framework.apk -> com.android.hardware.EpdController
There're three modes of screen-refreshing (with notions in EpdController.Wave)
DU/GU - Partial refresh
GC - Whole-page refresh
A2 - The built-in reader's magical fast-refreshing mode. Creates very little artifacts/ghosting.
Rest of the work's trivial. Used Java Reflection to re-encapsulate the Epd driver code and modified the FBReader ZLibrary.
Hope my work helps and encourages new ideas to come!
Could you share source code of your patch?
I'm going to add support of Nook Touch refresh settings to CoolReader app.
You know we have the source for the entire OS.
Actually A2 mode is not for fast page turns. It is intended for 1-bit animations - only black pixels are drawn. GL16 + ACTIVE mode is used for fast page turns and GL16 + ONESHOT_ALL is used for regular mode.
Yes you're right.... that was a misinterpretation for me before...
I'm currently in the office and I'll release the Epd source class tonight when I get back home. Now all Nook supported modes, GC, GU, GL16 and A2 are implemented.
I'm working on a Nook2 friendly launcher now and hopefully will have some results in couple of days.

Possibility of Game and Watch style games?

I wonder if it would be possible (and effective) to use the 1 bit animation mode to mimic the functionality of Game and Watch type games. As long as there is no scrolling (which would never happen on a segmented display) and if the imagery is small enough, the results might be very good!
Here's the Epd source as promised.
All modes should be there. Simplest way to use is putting:
setGL16Mode();
as the first line of your onDraw() listener.

The current version FBReaderJ - 1.1.10 (more bugfixes).
Will make new patch?
It should be very straightforward. Only need to put one extra line in the source.
I'll try to contact geometers to see if it's possible to put a "Nook2 Mode" in the official FBReadeRJ release.

It is similar to calls, as in the version FBReaderJ for Spring Design Alex Reader?

I wrote the code in a rush and just realized that I didn't put in a Copyright note in it. So here it is - you're encouraged to use this piece of code for anything, either commercial or free, either close-sourced or open-sourced.
However, do put a line in your "About" section saying that you used a code from dairyknight ([email protected]). That's the only request from me.

I don't think it's anything similar, unless they share the exact same vendor java driver code.
The 4PDA thread you provided is in Russian and unfortunately I don't understand a single word. If you can, get in touch with geometer and see what he thinks. I'll give all the assistance I can to get the official FBReaderJ working for Nook2.

Nikolay Pultsin is main FBReader developer. Anybody can get in touch with him by supplied email, he understands and writes in english as well.
As another option... everyone can 'fork' fbreaderj main repositury on github, put patch in code, commit and make pull request to main code trunk.
DairyKnight, many thanks for your work!
There are some questions about your code.
I need to call setGL16Mode() for every page in GL16 mode, but A2 and DU modes required setting mode only once. I.e. if I skip setGL16Mode() before draw, device is fully refreshed. But how I can set "default mode" for DU, i.e?
Other issue is about same, but in other context - before calling "Setting Dialog" (or any other fullscreen dialog) I need to turn controller onto "default mode" - there are many artefacts on screen without this. With GL16 this is not question, but when selected DU or A2 mode... Temporarily I call setGL16Mode() - this is better then nothing.
Another question - NomadRunserver suggested GL16 + ACTIVE mode for fast page turns, but GL16 + ONESHOT_ALL in your code (in comments, if precise). This is better?

update:
setGL16Mode() in DairyKnight code invokes GL16 + ONESHOT
other variants:
1 - ACTIVE
2 - ONESHOT
3 - CLEAR
4 - ACTIVE + ALL
5 - ONESHOT + ALL
6 - CLEAR + ALL
Modes 4, 5 and 6 are permanent, 1, 2, 3 - temporary.
CLEAR modes make full refresh.
I can't see much defferences between ONESHOT and ACTIVE, but last seems to be more clear. I preferred ACTIVE + ALL.
BTW, nook reader make full refresh on pages with images and next one. Wise decision, because partial refreshing lead to ghostings and artifacts in such cases.

Could you please post the build of fbreader with full page refresh? I'm rather new to Android development, and I'm not familiar with fbreader source; trying to figure out how to plug in N2EpdController into fbreader would take me a long time. Thanks!

[Oct 27] Official XDA One Forum App [Alpha] [APK] Version 0.1.14

XDA One has a successor. It's called XDA Labs. Click here to get it
Greetings all!
When we launched the 2015 new forum template, we promised that we were also getting ready to release XDA One, which is the first forum app for XDA developed entirely in-house (thanks to @tilal6991 for working on the code, @rwestergren for building the new API, @bitpushr for helping with server stuff, and @jerdog for his coordination). In its current (alpha) state, XDA One is a fast (and nice-looking) way to browse and post in the forums. You can access our mention/quote system, see your subscriptions, send PMs, and more. In the future we plan to add tools for moderators, integration with our Development Database, support for tablets, and more to make it the "One" place to experience all of XDA on mobile. :victory:
We have open sourced the app so that any can help make it better. Please access the XDA One GitHub repository to see the source code and/or to contribute. :highfive:
FAQ:
Why is this app in alpha?
It's not done yet and bugs still exist. As we put finishing touches on the app, we'll move closer to a beta release which will go on Google Play. Until then, we want XDA members to give it a try and help us find bugs.
What are you doing with XDA Free, XDA Premium, and Tapatalk? Will they still work?
For the foreseeable future, these apps will continue to be supported.
Why is it called "XDA One"?
As mentioned above, our vision for the app is for it to be the "One" place where you can experience all of XDA from your mobile device. In the future we will more deeply integrate the app into the site.
Are you going to charge for XDA One or will it be free?
Our plan is to make XDA One ad-supported.
I found a bug! Or, I have a feature request!
Post them in this thread. If reporting a bug, please describe the issue, steps to reproduce, and tell us what hardware and ROM (OS) you're using.
A couple of technical notes:
XDA One is developed using the Android Studio IDE. A simple debug build can be compiled using the XDA-One:assembleSimpleDebug gradle task. We will adopt the "Fork & pull" model of collaboration. Collaborators are encouraged to fork the project and submit pull requests for XDA's review, in order to be integrated back into the main release.

I was going to release this build last week but I had some issues with Marshmallows permission system. I didn’t realise Google had changed the protection level for External Storage access from normal to dangerous. So when I tried to download an attachment I got an FC. There is a slight issue with the dark and black theme, device images appear to have a white background. I’m not sure what to do with this, maybe disable the device images and revert to the placeholder Image?

Oh Goodie! Finally!
Installing now!
EDIT - Clean Crisp UI. Loving it!! Like the Gmail Style Refresh. Just one observation. When I am in Subscribed Thread list and press Home, relanching the app Brings me back to list of Forums not Subscribed threads. Don't like this part.
Bye Bye Crap A Talk!
Thanks guys, been using it for a day now and I made a list of stuff I ran into:
The search button should have be more prominent, it shouldn't disappear until the user is in a thread. It's still useful when in a sub-forum so it could be in the location of the star when in a thread.
The brown doesn't make a whole lot of sense anymore, it's nowhere to be found on the site so why is it still in the app?
When opening subscribtions I think subscribed threads should be the default view instead of subscribed forums, but I guess that depends on how users use the subscribtion functionality.
There's a lot of space in the blue square with the user-name and avatar in it, you could list the message, quote and mention counts there, and I'm not sure why my e-mail address is there?
Giving the new thread button such a prominent place doesn't make a lot of sense and I think it encourages posting a new thread instead of encouraging users to search.
There should be a way to add a device to "my devices" from the app, perhaps a star in the action bar just like the subscribe stars on the forum list when in a device forum?
The button for opening the "insert smilie" looks like a place-holder, but just to be sure it clashes like crazy with the rest of the interface. And I think "insert emoticon" would be a better name for the interface.
This is meant in the most constructive way possible, I've just been reading a lot on interaction design and couldn't help myself. I'll try and fiddle with the color scheme a bit this weekend, I have something like this in mind.
Thanks @svetius and @Woody for linking me.
Reporting back in a few minutes.
I like this color scheme, and this is exactly the kind of thing we were hoping to see when developing this app. Looking forward to seeing your contributions!

Please make sure that before you install this you are fully aware that it is an ALPHA (it even says so in it's title ). So there WILL be bugs. Best way that you can help the awesome team that put this together is by submitting a "proper" bug report with a logcat attached.
Don't know how to pull a logcat? Well I have just the thread for you. [GUIDE] Easiest Way to Utilize Catlog Believe me, a logcat and bug report go soooo much further than, "It's broke. Please fix". We've been using this for about a month and it has come along tremendously since then.
Also note that a Bug Report is not the same thing as a Feature Request. Knowing the difference will help everyone out in the long run.
Will install it, let's see how good it is!

Using the app now, really smooth. Would like to select what screen the app will open on (subscribed, notifications, news, etc). Also the reply UI is a little cramped, maybe if you widen the text area it will make it look a lot more comfortable.
I also agree with the previous post the the smiley icon clashes with the entire UI.
Also, I now that the hamburger drawer is the Android way to go, but I think it would be better if I don't have to scroll through it. Add a settings button or merge a few options in to one so that all the links information fits on one screen.
I appreciate the hard work, looks awesome and I look forward to the finished product.
Been waiting a long time for this and will take it for a spin! Cool
So, I've been using it for a while and it looks amazing! The design is waaaay better now, and everything's more clean! Thanks for the nice app
Yay!!
Ohhh yeah been waiting for this since the forum redesign and svetius mentioning an app in the comments on portal. For an alpha, this is fantastic! Great work all involved :highfive:
Edit : I couldn't find a way to edit my post... So I'm editing my post from Tapatalk which reinforced this statement... Xda one SMOKES Tapatalk for speed. Absolutely annihilates it
I am loving this! Be testing starting now!
@Nick Fury, the new version is available now.
I've been looking forward to this release for months and months now (probably even longer - dependant on when I first saw it mentioned) and am glad to see it's here and working great with it sure to get even better in future releases.
The only thing I've noticed so far is that checking new mentions/quotes doesn't clear them from the site. I realize it's only an alpha though so there'll be a lot which isn't included yet
