for the newbies like myself. a hard reset can be done by pushing the two softkey buttons (right and left) [the ones right below the touchscreen) and the soft reset button. follow on screen confirmation and u have a clean start again.

What happens when you take away the battery and plug it again.
Then You try to boot, it works ?
Then if not you try to hard reset, It works ?
Just to know...

Taken from : http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Resets
To do a hard reset.
Press both soft keys and insert stylus into soft reset button and press.
Release the soft reset button and keep pressing the soft keys.
When the "This operation will delete all your personal data, to manufacturer default" appears on screen.
Press Green call button to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.
The bootloader is invoked by pressing down the Power and Voicedialer buttons simultaneously, and using the stylus at the same time to press the RESET button at the left side. Continue pressing the two buttons for a few seconds after pressing and releasing the reset button until the bootloader screen appears.

Can't reset...am I being stupid?

Trying to hard reset my Artemis but I'm having problems. Everytime I try it just soft resets...no matter how often I try. I'm holding the two softkeys down, pressing the rest button, then releasing whilst still holding the soft keys. All that happens is as soon as I touch the reset button it soft resets. Any ideas?
Soft resseting an Artemis
Hold down both of the soft keys and push your stylus into the reset hole.
Hold the stylus for a few seconds and then release.
Keeping your fingers down on the softkeys, wait for a few seconds and white text will appear on your screen. You can now release the soft keys.
Now, if you press the Green answer key, your device will hard reset (any other key will soft reset your device).

HTC 8525 white screen

i have HTC 8525 and the screen is messed up it will work for a while then it will turn all white , any advice ?
There are a few theads about this issue already discussed on Hermes forum. Go search there, there are a few solutions, the cause has been narrowed down to the d-pad pc-board.
Hard Reset will do the trick
You need to hard reset the device. Shutdown the PDA completely. Than keep pressing simulteneously both upper buttons on the action button & press the reset hole with the help of the stylus.

Hard reset without stylus :)

For those of us who get frustrated with the reset button being hidden under the TP2 cover, I'm happy to have just discovered that you don't even need to go there... Just hold down the volume down button and do a soft reset from within the software and hey presto. Same result.
For a hard reset?
Never needed a stylus.
Just navigate to Settings - All Settings - System - Clear storage - 1234 - Done.
Easy enough with my finger.
And where do you find a soft-reset button on you Rhodium??
(I had to install Smaberg's util for a softreset button)
personally I downloaded the "reboot" app from the market place...

Click to collapse
take the cover off, opposite side of the vol. buttons.
Holding down the volume? That doesn't do anything on my Tilt2.
I usually use the HD Soft Reset applet that installs along with HD Tweak (placed it in the TouchFlo Programs tab for quick access). Or else I just hold the power button to shutdown, then power up again. The latter "usually" works when other things on the phone are locking up. But occasionally the phone will be completely frozen, and I need to resort to the stylus button inside the battery cover.
Vol Down? this accesses the boot loader not Hard Reset!
in anycase you don't need the stylus my friend.
Hard Reset : Switch Off the phone, hold call + endcall and power button.
Boot Loader : Switch off the phone, Hold Vol Down + power button.
cheers
^ What he said. I just hard reset the other day using this method, worked like a charm
Any way to reset the phone when it's locked up without taking the cover off?
