I searched for the exact title and I wasn't able to find anything. I am wondering how to install a new Chome thing. I think that is what a .cab is right?

Yeah, you're right. Installer files to have the ".cab" extension at the end. Just use ActiveSync to send the file from your PC to your Dash. Remember where you've stored it, because when you open File Explorer (on your phone) you'll need to go straight to that same location. Open the .cab and the file should install on your phone. Reboot.
thank you for you answer. To address what they said about why I alway's open a new thread, I think I already said that I couldn't find a thread about it so I oppenned my own. Also should I have asked this question in a thread about something else (that's what you are makeing it sound like)?

I put the file on my phone went into it and clicked the setup file, it went to like Internet Explorer and did a bunch of crap, then I restarted the phone and nothing changed?
Install this... "Cab via Activesync".

After that installs, go to where you downloaded the cab file on your computer, right click on it, and choose "Cabviaactivesync". Make sure your phone is connected and synced up before you do. It will automatically install on your phone

alright so I DLed the program and I go into the folder on my computer and go right click the set up and click the Cabviaactivesynce and then it give's me some error?
I don't know what else to do?

how much spoon feeding do I need? You must not remember what it was like to be new to this stuff? I am very new to this modding stuff so I would appreciate if you would let people who are helpfull and not rude help me and you just ignore my thread. Thank you.
I DLed the fix for the .NET problem. Correct me if I am wrong, I download the file from

and then I extract the folder to my desktop, then I open the folder and right click the set up file and click cabviaactivesync. When I do that I now get Exception of Type "System Exception was thrown.
What to do?
Alright so I have been looking (Googling) my problem and I found that 1.3 doesn't have the bug's so I DLed it and now I get unable to install the cab visit there website to report the problem.
I am thinking that I am doing the installation wrong.
In my last post please tell me if I am taking the correct steps and right clicking the correct file(s).?
wow I just figurred it out, I just didn't have to extract the file. WOW. That was simple if I just didn't overthink.
with the .cab installed my HomeScreen is a little weird, it didn't seem to install the whole file because it doesn't look and thing like the pictures given in the thread.
All of my thing's are X'ed out now, such as MY5 and my different browser's?
Also just for info. how do I uninstall a .cab

You just go to Start -> Settings -> More... -> Remove Programs. Voila.

Now I can't help you there. I haven't tampered with this .cab just yet...so I don't know how it "should" look.
Well seeing how's that's my .cab he installed... I would probably be the most apropriate person to help with it. But since you don't need my help, I'll let someone else have the "honor"

I never said I didn't need your help, in fact your help would be awesome.
Can you help me out as to why the .cab doesn't look like the picture and why My5 and Programs and so on have a red X for the symbol for the Slide?
Okay, I dug through the 160+ pages of his thread (okay maybe the last 20) and I found no mention of the problem I'm having. I apologize if this is a double post but maybe this will help people who are having the same problem quickly find it.
I have a T-mobile Dash I recently updated to Kavana's latest rom, and when I go to type a text message (this is all I've checked so far) Instead of qwerty I get like q.arrty or something of the like. The keyboard mapping is off. Is there a fix for this around?

Thank you for that zip file that should solve the problem with the keyboard. I also have a t-mobile dash and I tried flashing the kavana 6.1 but I had a problem with the keys being backwards but hopefully this fixes it. I would just like to know if anyone can help with the internet settings. I have the t-mobile internet plan but when I flash to kavana it's all erased and tells me to set up an ip or whatever but I do not know how to do any of that stuff and I just want the exact same t=mobile internet settings, can someone help me out?

Transfer it to your phone via ActiveSync. Put it in your phone's 'My Documents' folder. Using 'File Explorer' (on your phone), open and install the .cab. Reboot your phone.

or make a read me text in a a folder prior to the folder with the cab

Ok so I was just looking in my devices section of my windows 7 pc and if you plug in your kin then open this then go to your device then to hardware then to details you can select anything like where items are stored in the devices root and I aslo think I figured out how to acces it. I am going to try this and report back. Anyone else who wants to go ahead and try it. There is no risk in viewing the files.

/curious, bored, and procrastinating.
I tried to ask about this in another thread but I'm going to try to be more clear on this one. I loaded my OG drivers in and put the phone in Debugging Mode and in Diag. Mode. Device manager detects 2 ports, one is for diagnostics. I then run QPST and it detects the connection but with a "?" in front of the phone description then when I open tab for connected phones its empty. I still try to open EFS and its a blank. Are there separate Diagnostics Drivers for this phone like HTC's and other phones or is the software blocking it from being read?

Crap, my bad. I only posted one here because I had a similar one in Q&A but no response so I figured that "developers" would have the tech savvy to solve my issue better. I tried to edit the title on my other thread but couldn't figure out how. Please remove this thread then and tell me how to change the title of my other one.

Unlock efs directories/files
Ok, I installed the latest version of QPST and now I am in the EFS of my LG OG but I can't seem to be able to figure out how to unlock the directories/files in order to edit them ( similar to using the "open sesame door" method on an HTC ). Ok so I have a problem, I would think most users have this too: The max volume level being too low. So I went ahead to search google for help, and downloaded "Ultra volume mod" now what I'm supposed to do is to overwrite the "default_gain.config" but when I do, it says permission denied. So I tried another method, manually editing the code. Now it justs says that an error occured when I try to save it. I did a little digging on the internet, and found out that my system is apparently read-only, how do I change that? Oh yeah, I'm currently using ES File Explorer, most people said theres a button to mount something but I can't find the button, maybe thats the fix to it? I have the latest updated version of the root explorer and I still cant find the mount button.
Well, while you're here can you help me with another one? On game hacking apps such as GameCIH or GameGuardian, either right after I grant root permission, it says "error: root denied" or it says nothing and when I try to change the code, nothing happens. Thanks for helping.

Open ES file explorer hit menu button ,scroll down, check mark root explorer ,slider will turn blue,then click extreme left of root explorer you'll get a pop up with few options,click on Mount R/W then another pop up comes up and you'll see RO and RW columns,and 4 rows of options.Select the RW column for each of the row options.That would mount your system to read and write files just like you are doing right now.Once you change your default_gain.conf it will ask you to replace it with existing one (you should make a back up of your original one on the sd card) then replace it,long press on the new file click on MORE at the bottom right then Properties then you'll see permissions as RWX-RWX-RWX- and Change next to it.click on change and you'll see 3 rows and 3 columns make it read as RW-R-R basically selecting first 2 columns for first option and only the first option for 2nd and 3rd row.Click ok,exit the es file explorer and reboot your phone. I am attaching images below so you can get visual help as well (my options differ a bit under es file explorer since im not running TW ROM but concept is same
Note: Root is must (I see you've mentioned you are rooted)

2nd one sounds like an app issue now you have confirmed it's not a root issue. Probably don't work on 4.3. Think I remember seeing groans from game cheaters about apps not being supported.
Oh okay... well, i tried out the mod, forgot that 1db more is 3 times a loud as the bd before. Almost busted my cheapass earphones. Also the static noise you hear in idk, clash of clans during start up increased by at least 5 times. Switching back, luckily i took your advice on making a backup.Thanks guys, really helped me. In the shortest time of any other forum too.

Ya many of us eat , breathe and sleep on xda and love to help out people cause we were also once in your shoes so I know how it feels when something doesn't work right ,the anxiety levels sky rocket at once and panick sets in.

Well if its just thanks i think they would like it if they didnt get spammed on email. Anyway i fixed the static problem, seems like the old speakerboost app i tried but did not delete was jealous of the mod, uninstalled and mod works like a charm.
