BT DUN (as Client) from BlueAngel question. - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hey Guys, I've been following the cool stuff on this site for some time. It's always appreciated to have people working this stuff out. The default ROM that came with my Verizon (Harrier) is crap compared to the Testra ROM I got from this site.
Anyways, the reason for my post is in regards to setting up the Harrier as a DUN Client to a BT DUN enabled phone.
I have BT DUN working from the phone to a PC so I know it works.
When I browse the available services on the phone from the PC I see bluetooth serial port and bluetooth DUN.
When I browse the available services on the phone from within the Bluetooth manager on the Harrier the only available service I see available is Bluetooth Serial Port.
I tried setting up a 'Connection' using the Bluetooth serial port to no avail.
Has anyone had any success with BT DUN out from WM 2003SE using
BT ROM 1.0.0 Build 3500? or with any other similar setup?
Any suggestions?
Thx,
Ian

1. Copy this file "BTWizardProfiles.dll" to IIs
2. Modified Registry in following:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ExtModems\bluetooth_dun]
"port"="COM7:"
"DeviceType"=dword:00000009
"FriendlyName"="Bluetooth"

Using PAN and Internet Sharing

Maybe I am missing something here. I used to use the DUN with my 8525 and never had a problem with my laptop. I flashed today with XDA .20 and can not figure out how to work the new PAN. I tried everything and just can not get it to work. Am I missing something?
Use the internet sharing app. If you are tethering via USB make sure to disable bluetooth or your device won't get a DHCP lease from the PAN driver.
I have a problem connect Via bluetooth using Internet Sharing with all version of WM6. When pair with the PC, the PC can only transfer file with my 8525 only. But when using Cingular 3.3 aku my PC can find Serial port profile and connect to Internet Sharing.
Does anyone know a registry fix for this?, I am using a Sony laptop with build in toshiba bluetooth stack. When went back to 3.3 aku internet sharing Via bluetooth work again.
Thanks

I have vista and winxp with toshiba stack on the same laptop (dual boot), both doesn't work with all version of WM6 available here, but it work with 3.3 aku cingular rom.
Where can I find MS stack? when I unintalled toshiba stack, all the driver for the bluetooth is gone.
Edit: Thanks for the tips, I finally get it to work VIA bluetooth, the problem is the toshiba bluetooth stack. I uninstalled the toshiba stack, and do and manually driver installed and choose Toshiba as the manufacture, and intergrate bluetooth, Vista find a driver for it and activate the MS stack.
The issue with the Toshiba stack is this:
The auto discovery is the only way to set up services. However, the PAN service doesn't display unless the devices are paired. Toshiba can only Pair with devices seen during discovery....
Its a damn catch-22....

screw the toshiba stack! just dont install that junk, Vista will automally install Microsoft bluetooth stack!
Can someone please detail the steps on how to get Internet Sharing via bluetooth for either XP or vista?
TIA!
Interestingly, there's a help topic in WM6 that explains this! Tap Start->help and then choose "search"
Now search for "Internet sharing". How to set up the m$ bt stack on your desktop is explained there.
M$ stack
I just have the same prob. on my laptop with XP SP2 and toshiba BT stack...
how can i fix the drivers for M$ BT stack without install VISTA ???
THX in advance

Since upgrading to WM6 Black, I can't seem to get the Wireless Modem (internet sharing) to work. I am using a USB cable but when I start the DUN on the PC, it says there is no modem installed.
found the answer elsewhere - if you are using USB turn off BT on the device!
obvious really (?)
replacing Toshiba BT stack with Microsoft
Hey, I cant vouch for this since i dont have a toshiba but thought i might pass this on. hope it helps.

Hey bud, Microsoft ditched DUN in WM6. If you have the drivers installed properly (included with Activesync 4.5) you should see a new LAN connection in your Network Connections. In Windows XP it should be described as "Windows Mobile-based Internet Sharing Device" If you don't have the driver installed you will see Generic RNDIS in your Device Manager. From what i understand if you have Vista installed on your computer these drivers come stock (on the Final full version of Vista, not included by default on RC1, not sure about RC2)
hope this helps...
PAN with toshiba stack
I downloaded an updated bluetooth stack from
http://aps.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/pages/download.php
and it worked fine.
Pair hermes with computer. First turn on internetsharing then connect using pan profile.

i tried the v 5.10.06 too on my asus but still can't connect to my tytn WM6 LVSW first release .... maybe the different WM6 is the key of this problem...
wich options u use in the toshiba stack ( security level and so on ) ?
i tried high security level that force pairing with device ( and obviously pan enabled) but still get the message " only file tranfer service on the device ..."
i'm interested to get it to work too also if it's working now with m$ stack .
There may be some other users interested too...

Bluetooth DUN Profile

Hey all,
I've got a bit of a problem. Since the release of wm5 AKU 3.0, BT DUN is no longer present, instead we are supposed to use BT PAN. I read the articles in which microsoft explains why they removed it, and also that it is optional in WM6. I saw the .cab files in MUN's WM6 thread but I can't get them to work.
I use BT DUN to dial in to my domain with my VPN at the windows logon screen. BT PAN is about as useful as a frying pan in this case because I need to be logged in to connect BT PAN...I think they call that a conundrum
Anyway ever since I've had the trinity I have been using ICS with USB which does auto connect before logon. The thing is I prefer BT because it is just simply more convenient.
If anyone has a solution, either buy adding a working BT DUN profile or with BT PAN I'd really like to know about it.
Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307235
I already read that thread but it's a no go
I also would really need the DUN Profile, but it does not work on mine too...
I just went and tried superdave's widcomm stack for the hermes, no joy though.
I'm running WM6 SE (not TE) and my DUN profile is flawless.
Use it from my TomTom 910, laptop and work PDA.
Wish PAN was supported by other devices so I could use all 3 at once.
what's WM6 SE?
and where can I get it?

BT Homehub VOIP Settings

Hi All
Been messing with this for sometime
Anyone successfully managed to connect their Hermes to a BT Homehub and use VOIP with BT Talk?
Any input welcome
same question but for my Orange Live-Box ..
currently it has a bluetooth serial port open, finding a way to use it is another matter.
hmm, this is worth looking into! BT Talk, you say!
I just got my hermes connected to my BT hub last night, now I have something to play with. Where do I get BT Talk from?

Serial Port but no Activesync?

I'm pretty sure i have everything setup on the pc right. Serial port is configured in WIDCOMM drivers as COM5. Activesync is setup to listen for COM5.. but on the ppc all i see is a serial port selection in the bluetooth mgr and not activesync.. Anyone have any tips to get it working correctly?
It isn't real clear from your post, but I assume you are trying to set up bluetooth sync.
Some avenues for you to explore:
Have you set up a partnership through USB connection? If not, this should be first on your list of things to do.
Have you paired the devices? Turn your PPC to discoverable in bluetooth settings and have your PC search for new devices. The wizard should pick up the PPC and walk you through the pairing process.
Does your bluetooth module support the correct services? Older bluetooth dongles and radios might not support syncing pim info.
I have the exact same Problem.
Did everything like it is described here in the forums. Firewalls and antivir deactivated. Used the right COM ports. Settings in Active Sync match. Pairing successful. The WIDCOMM-Driver even renames the Serial Port to ActiveSync after pairing. But even after all that, if I'm trying to get a Connection from my phone by using the ActiveSync on my phone with "connect via bluetooth", I cannot see ActiveSync there, just Serial Port. Switching on the Beam (like in some boards suggested) had no success either.
I tried reinstalling all. I tried my desktop PC and my Laptop (same problem). ActiveSync does know the XDA when I'm using a cable. I tried deleting the profile and create it again. I tried the Microsoft bluetooth stack instead on my laptop. I tried using another COM-Port. I tried deleting the pairing from the registry on the phone.
I have a XDA Neo / HTC Prophet with WM6 ProphetTouchIX, an Anycom BT-200 Bluetooth Dongle with WIDCOMM based driver. WINXP SP2 with the newest Security updates and Active Sync 4.5.
If anyone has any new suggestions, please post them here. If you have the exact same problem, post here, what you've tried to solve it, maybe we can at least find out, what's causing it.
found this one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=287820&highlight=widcomm+bluetooth
seems to be the same problem.
if you have Touch IX installed, you need the bluetooth fix from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=342302 .
worked for me. Give it a try!

Tether Dash to Another Phone (TM506)?

OK, this may be a bit naive, especially since T-Mo is rumored to stop tethering on the TM506 in later updates (heaven forbid SIM provisioning), but I would like to tether the Dash to the TM506, like a PC, via BT and only have data on the TM506. I really love my Dash for now and the TM506 has HSPDA 3.5G. Can this be done? Can any additional WM6 software accomplish this?

Find my thread on Bluetooth Dun, it has the software you need, just install it on your T-Mobile Dash to the main memory. If you cannot find it get back with me...........!
Thanks for the quick reply and advice.
I'll search your threads to find the DUN Posts and post back in a few days. So I quess the Dash can dial to T-Mo 3G using the TM506 modem via BT. Great!
I just wonder if there is a way to configure DUN without it eating minutes. Previously, when I set up connection teaming on a laptop with the Dash and a Samsung T409 using DUN, minutes on my plan began to mysteriously get used.
Is it possible to use T-Mo DUN without eating minutes off your plan?

That's a beautiful little Sony phone, I saw it in the T-Mobile store yesterday. I believe it will work, if you cannot find the software, I will PM you a link to the BT dunn software a little bit later. I got to find it also, but I have it.........!
I found it
Look for a PM in the next 10 minutes.........!
The BlueTooth Dunn File
Below is the BT dunn file, install it to the main memory, you still will need the configuration set up.........!

Thanks, I still have it in my downloads from the last time you helped me. I didn't really need it then because my modded Dash had BT DUN enable for PC to Dash modem. Hope it works for Dash to TM506 modem.
Update: I installed the app to main memory but I don't see a program link or folder in program files. I'm guessing something went wrong but the install was reported as successful.

Nothing is wrong, it's there, you will not see anything, but it will work, pair the devices. Let me know how things work out for you....!
Sorry, Techhology but I still can't figure this out. The Bluetooth services of the TM506 only list Input Device and Serial Port. Give me a few more pointers. Thanks.

Print a picture of what you are working with on the Sony TM506, I would love to make this work. Another thing did you get the 2 devices paried.......?
Yes the devices are paired. The TM506 sees these services on the Dash: Object Push, File Transfer, Audio Remote Control and target. The Dash sees these services on the TM506: Input Device and Serial Port.
It appears that the SE PC Suite connects to the TM506 through BT serial port. You can also use BT dial-up networking directly instead of BT serial port.
If it were possible to have the Dash use the BT serial port on the TM506, like the SE PC Suite, then it might work. But I can't find any function in the Dash to do this.
I was also successful in connecting two PC's to the TM506 via BT. One via BT DUN and the other via BT PAN. The PC's had internet but the connections seemed very slow.

Ok, you will not see anything the Dash but the BT dunn file are there. Do you have a BT set up on the TM506?
Somthing tells me this would have been easier with a PPC instead on a Smartphone. GRIN
I can use DUN from a PC to both the TM506 and the Dash just fine. But I can't seem to figure out how to use DUN from the Dash to the TM506.
Many BT profile features on the TM506 are not visible to the Dash. Especially DUN and PAN. The BT serial port is visible but theres no application on the Dash to take advantage of this like the SE PC Suite does.
I've attached a picture of the BT services provided by the TM506 to a PC using the Widcomm BT stack.
Looks like the picture is too small. I'll try to post a better one.
Larger Photo of TM506 BT service to a PC with Widcomm BT Stack. The SE PC Suite uses the Serial Port to connect. Use can also use Dial-Up directly. In the photo I was using PAN - notice the green connected icon.
