Mic/speaker adapter for Exec/Jasjar headphone socket needed - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

Until I get a proper car kit I'm trying to arrange a microphone/speaker system in my car for my Exec.
The Exec's 3.5mm headphone socket has all the connections I need to get audio out (to my car head unit) and receive a microphone feed in. The supplied Exec headset has a standard four-band 3.5mm jack plug.
Has anybody found a splitter with a 4-band jack plug that provides a stereo 3.5mm socket (audio out) plus a mono 3.5mm socket (mic in) that will connect to the Exec and give me the connectivity I seek?
Since the headphone socket is in parallel to the USB socket and the antenna extension sockets along the back of the Exec, I'm hoping that someone somewhere is making a car cradle with all these connections built in... Slide the Exec into the holder in laptop mode and instantly get power, audio out, audio in, antenna and GPS connectivity in one simple cradle.
Well... I can dream...

That is exactly what I'm looking for. If someone can tell me where I can get hold of one in the UK I'd be very happy.
Thanks for the translation Mart.

You can ask the people from the german MDA Club, if they can send you one over in the UK

Any luck obtaining one? Ive just filled in the form but dont know if I will get a reply.

No - no luck yet, but then I've done bugger all about finding one. I'm pretty sure it's not available on the High Street in the UK.
I'm also not in a hurry until I know which car kit I'll be using and whether it's got a headphone/mic connection.
Let me know if you have any luck though.

I'd like to find an adapter that allows me to run audio out to my car speakers but NOT disable the microphone on the JasJar. When I plug in a regular 3.5mm audio cable it disables the JasJar microphone. Does this type of cable exist?
If not, what hands-free microphone solutions are people using with the type of adapter shown above?

I'm looking for the same solution. It seems odd that a regular 3.5mm cable disables the mic - surely only a 3.5mm cable with mic input should do that?

I never know this, I always think the designer of the Uni should be smart enough to design it in such a way so that even though we use a normal headphone, the internal mic still works.
My old XDA does that exactly though it has 2.5mm headphone port. Whenever I use a normal plug (not the custom one), the mic is still working.

I've found another site that offers audio adapters including the one above (in fact I think this is probably where the MDA Pro site gets their adapters from):
http://pc-mobile.net/audioadapter.htm
I emailed them about the adapters and whether any of them would keep the internal mic enabled on an XDA Exec, however they have not tested any of them with any HTC Universal yet.
If anyone's tried any of these, please let us know.

Has anybody tried this?

bluetooth stereo earphones??? Do they exist?

Hi,
I really hate having to detangle my earphones everytime I want to listen to something on my Exec.
I was hoping anyone of you would know whether there are any bluetooth stereo earphones/earbuds (not headphones) that will work with the Exec for music?
I dont want the type where I have to plug in some sort of transmitter... I was hoping to use the built in bluetooth.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Not sure if any exists becuase:
1. Where to put the transmitter?
2. Where to put the battery (if earbuds without wires, both should have batteries built in. this might be a problem)
Yes, bluetooth stereo headphones exist (the Motorola HT820, for instance). No they don't (currently) work with the JasJar.
We need to wait for a ROM upgrade which adds A2DP functionality. This is something that MicroSoft have nade available to the OEM's (i-mate, Q-Tek, O2, etc) but they're dragging their heels when it comes to actually releasing the upgraded ROMs.
Indeed, if i-mate support are to be believed, their imminent ROM upgrade will not include A2DP functionality, which probably means waiting another three months for the next round of ROMs....
Of course, I'm not at all annoyed that I have a useless pair of Bluetooth headphones.....especially considering the fact that other i-mate phones have A2DP already.......
HOT FROM THE PRESS!!!
Just read the press article from Sony Ericsson
And another one...
I have a set from HP that work OK with my ipaq and hacked blueangel rom. You need A2DP support on your device to be able to use them.
I got mine in New York from Compusa last May, Expansys sell them in the UK for about £60, as well as other models.

Actually Guys,
Back to the topic, the guy who started this post is looking for stereo bluetooth EARPHONES. not headphones like the HT820.
And also WITHOUT wires.... so he doesn't have to "detangle" them everytime.
Tall order. Anyone know of a WIRELESS EARPHONE/EARBUD STEREO bluetooth headst? I think that's what he was looking for.
well said!

ong with taiwanese 'tribute' versions ( it's not a copy, it's a tribute to the original....) - you get a dangly reciever bit to wear around your neck and earbuds into your ears.

The second point was NO WIRES so no "detangling" . Sony Erricson are also releasing a similar bluetooth thing, but both of them HAVE wires.
Close, 1 for 2.
Any 2 for 2 devices?

I had the same problem - My Sony EX71 earbuds were fantastic quality, but detangling was a pain in the ass. While I'd prefer earbuds too, and looked at those above first, I went for a pair of HT820's and don't regret it for a second. They're not earbuds of course, but are pretty goddamn stylish to use and the quality is lovely. They also use AVRCP for remote contol and have a mic so I can replace my bluetooth headset too.
EDIT: OK, so I'm a little like Princess Liea, but I'm secure enough in my sexuality to not care.
Hi,
I just bought this one: http://www.pdashop.nl/product/23366. Works fine with my MDA Pro. I use it in combination with PocketMusic Bundle. You can also skip tracks, pause/play music. The only thing is that it won't show the track title/artist. In the manual it says it reads the id tags, but not in my case. (Maybe it's an issue of PocketMusic).
It's also nice that it comes with a cord to hang it around your neck.

Convert 8 pin phone cable to mini-usb

Hello,
I have been searching everywhere on the internet, but I haven't found any good sources of information that can help me convert a 8 wire phone cable to 4 wire min-usb.
In my car I have a Bosch HA G2 Cartel phone, and it' very old. It was connected to the audio system of my car using the folowing wire :
www.sodevrom.net/wire.jpg
Now, I want to convert the 8 wire to a mini usb , so I can connect my HTC phone and listen music directly from the phone.
I found the color scheme of the wires for the mini-usb here:
http://pinouts.ru/Slots/USB_pinout.shtml
Unfortunatly I don't know how to connet the 8 wires so I can make it in 4 wires (for the mini-usb).
I would appreciate a lot if someone could help me.
Thank you
not sure about what the 8pin include but it it's not usb signals then you cant
usb is both an electrical and digital protocol it's serial and 5volts signals
if a device is not made 100% to work with usb it will never work
HHmmm,
I have an audio cassette that has a normal audio jack. I bought an adaptor that switches from audio jack to mini-usb and it worked.
Why woulden't this work ? The mini-usb will send audio to the speakers. It must work, but I need a color scheme for the above cable, or some other methods to do what I need.
I don't want to re-cable my entire car just becouse I can't modify a cable
no htc device ever had miniUSB
no miniUSb device ever carried analog audio
htc devices use extUSB which is miniUSB with extre connectors which carry normal analog
signals like one find in 3.5mm minijack connectors
if you get a extusb connector which got a mini jack 3.5mm in the other end you can
connect any audio souse to that and it will play like a htc headset
but it have nothing to do with usb
I appologise here,
You are correct . Let me explain better.
I have an adapter that connects to my HTC phone and sends out 3 outputs :
-mini-usb
-the other usb you sayed about
-normal audio jack .
I need to connect 1 of those 3 outputs with the car cable (I sowed you in the PIC).
Here is a detailed pic
www.sodevrom.net/ineed.jpg
Thanx
that pic made me actually "lol" i like how it has random pictures to generalize what you are describing
Why do you want it to go through the Phone cord? why not directly into 3.5mm and into your car deck which then feeds it to the speakers?
That would be perfect, I thought that it's easyer to make it go through the cord.
Can you tell me a good solution on how to connect the phone directly ? Should I take out my cassette player (yea, it's old) and get the wires of the speakers ?
And also the cable that connects to my phone has 4 wires :
white, green, red, black.
Should I connect all this 4 wires or only 2 ? And if only 2 , wich ones
Thanx
2 wires are used for audio and one for ground. im not sure what the forth wire is.
I would not suggest directly connecting to your speaker wires, you wouldnt have an amplifier to boost the sound and it would come in very quiet
Hmmm... Than where should I connect it than ?
Sorry for all the questions, and thak you for the help.
Also, I think that the wires I have to connect are White and Green, right ?

Thanx

HTC uses extUSB, which is not defined on that link of yours
this is the pinout of extUSB
http://www.tracyandmatt.co.uk/blogs/index.php/2006/09/10/htc_hermes_usb_connector_pin_config
I understand this, but I want to know where to connect the right wires to the car.
I have a cassette player in my car, and I am sure it's possible to open the player and connect the htc wires.
it is possible to by a casset with a wire on the end of it to connect to something such as a cd player or mp3 player....

you could connect this to your extusb to headphone jack. this would allow for you to play your sound through the car AND it to be amplified through the "radio" on the car....
is this what you are asking for or are you wanting a mic also?
If you are wanting a mic you are going to have to go blue tooth.
Edit: one more thing..... if you go messing with the wires of this you can mess up the computer in your car because of security precautions of manufactures.... so if your car is newer, be careful and check things out before you go splicing things

Is it possible to use a headset and phone's mic for talking on phone?

Hi,
I used to use a Nokia 5310. With it, I could take a call by pressing any button, listenlng via headset and talking to phone's mic, while I was listening to music. Once I hang up the call, the music resumes. All this was done with 5310 phone and a normal 3.5mm headset (without any mic in its line).
Now with SSGS, when I was listening to music via a headset and taking a call with the headset plugged in, voice on the line wouldn't come through the headset. Instead, I had to remove the earpiece and talk to the phone as if the headset wasn't there.
It seems good prople here are able to play with alsa, and I think audio redirecting might be possible.
Could someone point me to the right direction?

I was just thinking about this the other day. I was in town listening to music and a call came through. It would be nice not having to faff around taking out the earphones to answer a call.

I'd like to be able to use the cassette adapter in my car for music and hands free

I too would like to see a fix for this problem.
In the meantime I use my old Nokia hands free adapter with an inline mic and a 3.5mm headphone jack inside the car / when using my own headphones

I currently use a Nokia with a headset same as PhoenixFx pic, I listen to music > call comes in > hit inline remote and take call > finish call by hitting inline remote > goes back to music.....
Don't tell me this cant be done????

This is true, and I cannot begin to tell you how pissed I was to discover my Skullcandy headset neither works as headphones or as a headset. IIRC one of the speaker pins and the mic pin are the other way round on the SGS so its not compatible with normal 3-pole 3.5 jacks.
Instead of getting new headphones, I'm going to run with a Jabra BT stereo thing that lets you plug your own headset in. I love my earbuds, and I'm damned if samsung is going to stop me using them, particularly when they don't even have a non-stock set of headphones on sale themselves.
I doubt that this is the cause of the headphones/phonecall thing tho. I guess they just didn't even think of it when they were coding. I don't see why this is impossible, and especially with stuff like Cyanogen just over the horizon, could see it soon.

You can use one of the Nokia hands free adapters like I do (if you want a cheaper solution then get a 3rd party Nokia compatible one from eBay), however you won't be able to plugin your own mic, but at least the in line mic and your own headphones will work. Built in mic of the Nokia HS-45 is pretty sensitive and can be used even from a distance (especially handy inside a car)
I have no idea why Samsung didn't give the option of using the built in mic of the phone with a headset, or at least provide their bundled headset with a detachable earphone cable like Nokia does.
@Lostalone:
I Just managed to buy a samsung jack adaptor today. Samsung does sell one here in singapore. You can plug any third party headphones with the mic adapter. Works like a charm.

My Captivate worked fine but using the same headset on my Bell Vibrant does not work on calls. Where can I find said adaptor or is there a specific headset for the Bell Vibrant/Galaxy S international that works?
It should not be hard if we can see/edit the source of the phone app and recompile it.
I will be looking for the source and how to recompile.
I am aware that using a nokia adapter solved the problem. I am using one myself. Though, There are still Times when such adapter is not suitable, such as jogging.

The built in FM radio is a RECEIVER. It cant just be turned into a transmitter. Your better off using a bt receiver that can be plugged into the aux in of your radio,or just plugging it in. If your radio does not have one, about a hundred bucks will get you one that does, you can even get one with bt and avoid the cable or adapter all together.
Walmart has one for $11,(in the auto section, not electronic) and it's battery powered so you don't get feedback from the outlet.
I use a direct aux converter that replaces my radio harness so anything connected to my radio thinks its a cd and i can connect any audio device and even an ipod... but it was 80 bucks.
I think P.I.E. makes interfaces for almost every car. I haven't checked their page since I got my XM stuff in 05 but they've gotta have something that'll work for pretty much everyone.
FM transmitters are so 90s lol

You guys are saying I can buy this... Miccus BluBridge mini-jack Rx: and plug that into my audio jack in my truck and it'll stream the music via bt?
My car radio doesn't have a place to plug an adapter into so I use a Motorola T505. It's cheap, easy to connect to and I can take it from the car to the office if I want.
OK some good ideas here
I just use my AUX input in my truck
I bought the older version of this
GOgroove FlexSMART
Pretty handy piece of equipment, and it has gotten cheaper with the upgrade. It will charge your phone at the same time as transmitting your tunes. I use it to listen to the games while driving home from work.
If you have a way to attach a BT receiver, that is totally the way to go. A2DP sound quality rocks and you can use it for speaker phone too.

Its what I have been doing for months, and more. Not only that but the thing has a battery so it can run without a power source for a few hours. Although Im too lazy so I just leave it plugged into both the input and USB port (I use a lot of rentals, they have a cubbie hole with both). It goes to sleep mode but then once you restart the car it goes active and you just have to turn on bluetooth on the phone. No connecting anything.
Also, it works with all types of audio. Phone audio, navigation audio, etc.

Prepare yourself for "that's what she said" jokes, but it won't fit how? Too big around, or too long? As much as you may not want to, you might have to push harder or something, some of these things are kinda crappy and require more force than you really want to use while shoving them in. The 12v cigarette socket in cars is nearly 100% standard, and a common car like the Camry should have a standard socket. Be careful though, I'd hate for you to break the socket on account of my advice. I've had them work in every VW I've ever owned (81 rabbit, 91 GTI, 91 jetta, 88 golf, 92 gti, 93 corrado).
Pics and product info would also help solve the issue .
Glad I read this, some really good ideas.
I'm using the bt receiver from BlackBerry. I think it was about $50 from Amazon. I had some engine whine, but then I ordered a gnd loop isolator and all was fine. The whine was specific to my Mazda 3's aux jack, so you may not have that problem.

Car dock phone audio

Hey guys, I've searched extensively for this but I really need a mod/app/kernel / rom that will allow phone call audio out on the original samsung car dock. Music works fine and it's loud and clear on car stereo but phone calls just get routed to phones own loudspeaker.
The Dock plugs into phone via micro usb then you plug in a 3.5mm headphone jack and separate charging cable into the dock itself
Any help would be really appreciated!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
A mechanical alternative might be to get an audio jack splitter and a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, then plug that into the top of the phone and the other end into the splitter, which then goes into the dock with the one spare female jack being for a cable to the car audio input. No clue if that will work though, but in theory...

That's a good idea but liked the fact the dock is pretty hassle free. Just pop the phone in and everything is connected. Anyone have any other solutions or links to custom ROMs that have sorted this issue?

An audio splitter splits the audio, it does not combine it. What you want is a mixer, which is a different product (and usually much more expensive). A mixer is designed to attenuate the signal from the two inputs so that the combined output doesn't overload the speakers.
So in theory, it would not work. But in practice you might be able to get away with it as long as you don't try to use both phone outputs at the same time. But if you care about the speakers on your car, I wouldn't risk it.
To the OP, I think the phone will send both music and calls over Bluetooth, so you might look into a Bluetooth adapter for your car as a possible solution. Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Britelink-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-Portable/dp/B0059M4G9K
Thanks for the advice!

I know what you mean, but I don't think adding dual inputs to the line-in would in any way affect the actual speakers. I've used this method on various gear before and the result varies. Sometimes they mix fine, sometimes one signals essentially mutes the other.
A simple solution guaranteed to work however is to make a splitter that has a switch. More cumbersome, but it would allow you to manually switch from one input to the other when a call comes in.
surely it would be a quick coding hack to a ROM which would allow phone audio to be routed through the dock, after all that is what happens to music and GPS instructions... so why not phone audio!?

Try westcrip 8.6 ics resurrection ROM.
Works for me with phone and music through car speakers.
Please report back your findings (I am wondering if there is something else to this)
Note: I am sure it has to do with the kernel used.
Thx
I tried dock sound with GB 2.3.6 and works fine.
I think there's no suport for this dock with CM(7 or 9)
