Wirless Modem (USB) Problem... - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

o2 Exec running the iMate ROM, when I start the Wireless Modem, it displays 'COM OPEN ERROR' instantly, as if it cannot access a COM port.
Is there a setting I need to change, by the way this is without the device connected to the PC, and therefore is not to do with the USB port being used by ActiveSync

It is probably due to something using the port. Do you have GPS software running? Simply resetting the unit may fix it. You can also download a task manager here: http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/TaskMgr/
Kill off some processes and see if that opens the ports up.

Delete all com ports under bluetooth set-up.

hi will someone be kind enough to upload the usb modem drivers as I don't have my cd with me and need to download the drives to my exec then transfer them to my laptop and then get connected,
thanks

XDA Connecting to PC

I have an old XDA with an O2 Chip in and I need to Connect it to a PC I dont have the original CD and I brought a serial Cable. Is There any Drivers I Need to Connect this thing aprt from Active Sync
nop
Install activesync on desktop, do a soft reset on your xda, plug usb cable into pc, connect xda. The desktop activesync may find it automatically, if not run the get connected in activesync.

Keep loosing connection during the rom update

When I try to apply the WM 6 ROM I lose my connection when it displays the "Updateing the ROM image on your PDA Phone..." - the activesync connection closes and the screen on the pda goes black. After about a minute I get ERROR [260]: CONNECTION
Cingular 8525
Windows 2000 PRO
ActiveSync 4.5
Try using another usb port in your computer.
Disable ActiveSync's use of the USB port (under Connections I think). Reboot.
Worked for me after I bricked my unit because of the same problem.
Recovered, of course
Just use the sd-card flash. Works always and fast!!!
Had the same problem I found out that if i change my USB port it works fine. I've also changed my usb cable - and now it works on every USB port in my pc

Stuck in bootloader problem

I have a HTC Universal (Qtek 9000) device.
In an attempt to do an upgrade to bootloader v1.01, I kept getting a connection error. Apparently even while I got this error, the upgrade still managed to get my device stuck in bootloader screen
Luckily, my pc still recognizes my device when I connect it on USB. So I'm following the steps described on Wiki to solve the problem.
I disabled USB connection in WMDC, removed Sim & SD cards from the Universal, and connected it without any USB hub, or even any other USB devices connected at all. Windows installs drivers succesfully, but right after it the MS USB Sync icon disappears.
Mtty doesn't list the USB port in the ports list, and UNI_ExitBootloader gives an error "Cannot open USB port".
I tried all ports of my pc, and tried another cable too. The device indicates "USB" in the bootlader screen so it recognizes being connected.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem here?
Or better... what I can try to fix it

Try to reflash on windows XP, not Vista
Hope it helps,
That did help indeed, thanks!
Don't know what Vista does to my USB ports (and probably don't wanna know), but a XP VM did the trick already
My Universal is fully operational again.

Computer cant recognize my Diamon

Dear Sirs;
Maybe this part of forum not be the proper place for my question but I don't know the poeple more expert than XDA masters.
Since last monday, computer cant recognize my Diamond when I connect it by USB cable and "USB device not recognized" appears. I will be really appreciated if you kindly help me.
Best Regards
Dariush Chegini
Try reinstalling Active Sync/Windows Mobile Device Center.
First remove Active Sync/ WMDC, restart PC and than install Active Sync/ WMDC.
Thanks for your kind attention. I reinstalled Activesync...no change, computer can't recognize the Diamond. My Diamond charges with both charger and computer, USB headphone works but PC can't recognize it....
I'm so confused and will be really appreciated if XDA masters help me.
Best Regards
XP or Vista or Windows 7 or which OS?
I've tried by both WIN XP and Vista.
could be a few possibilities for XP atleast...
activesync - file->connection settings->allow usb connections checked
faulty cable, try another one
faulty port on computer, try another one
driver issue - a difficult one...
i had this on my xp, found out there's something wrong with the cable - phone charging fine via computer USB, but XP says it doesn't recognize the device so doesn't connect to activesync....
good luck
Try on your Diamond -
Start>Settings>USB to PC
Unchek "Enable faster data synchronization"
If none of the above solutions work, maybe a hard reset...
I tried another cables, all options in "USB to PC", Activesync options, hardreset, even install other ROM but PC still can't recognize the Diamond.
It seems to be a Hardware problem but Diamond can be charged by USB and USB headphone works properly... I'm so confused .
Thanks Millions

Try this in order...
1. Connect diamond to pc - it should at least charge as your say, but not detect Activsync
2. Goto Settings > Connections > USB to PC
3. Check Allow USB Connections > Uncheck allow fast data sync...
Does it connect?
if not and if you are using Vista
1. goto Windows Mobile device Center
2. check the attached image to see you have the same settings...
Does it connect?
if still not, then it could be driver issues, which I can suggest, once you reply to the above...
Thanx for your attentions. I've tried uncheking the said bottom but no change.
I used to connect the Diamond to the same notebook without any problem for more than 16 months, but the damn notebook stop recognizing my Diamond these days .
Thanks Millions

may be usb port on your computer is malfunction. Did u try different usb port?
You need to open device manager in control panel to see how you diamond is listed.
Ever since i started with a new company 3 years ago they have some software that prevents activesync from connecting to any device I have from their computers using USB.
I went Bluetooth method and all is fine. I just use the USB for large, direct file transfer to internal storage.
If you get issues with activesync and usb and can take ages to resolve (if possible).
I guy's.
After a lot of search in this forum and a lot of other forum's, i came to this threat.
I had the same problem, my diamond didn't connect to my pc.
I had tried all the different suggestion, and nothing seemed to work. until i read the post of cloudedhopes, that suggested to change the usb cable. Because it was the only thing that i hadn't tried, i did change the cable, and it worked!
So i'm posting only to thank you guy's for all of the help, given not directly to me, but to all user!

[Q] set usb to pc connection to ActiveSync using keyboard

My touch screen died. I still want to be able to interact with the phone. i have soti pda controller already installed on both phone and laptop. The problem is the phone is stuck on using usb connection as a disk drive which I can not change this using the keyboard alone. So whenever I connect phone to the laptop with the usb cable it does not syn but instead comes up as a storage device. I can only use the pda controller while syncing.
is there a way to set the phone usb connection to use active sync with only the use of the keyboard.?

You're going to need a registry editor on your PC to edit the registry on your device. I use CeRegEditor. Use that to navigate to the following registry key and change it to this.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\USB\FunctionDrivers]
"DefaultClientDriver"="Serial_Class"
