HTC Universal (O2 XDA Executive) Case - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

I bought an XDA Executive a few months ago, after 10 days the case fell apart (bad stitching) after contacting O2 they said they don't and can't supply a new case and that i'd have to search the net for one less than £15 and send them the bill :/
None that i've seen so far seem to be very useful or look reasonable, i'd really prefer an original (more of a pouch without having to undo things to get it out of the case each time) but i haven't been able to locate an original anywhere yet.
Has anyone come across one or have a new original from O2 that may be for sale?

Surely as the package was bought from O2 with a guarantee then the onus should be on O2 to replace it.
I'd go back to O2 and push on it because it sounds like they're giving you the fob off.

That was having spoken to a supervisor (don't know what they supervised though).

I got myself one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/XDA-Exec-iMat...845608818QQcategoryZ57253QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Really pleased with it, a good alternative to what you are after.

I'm quite fussy with the style, don't like the buckle over the top, i thought the O2 one was ideal, shame they're being awkward about it.

I've been looking at the:
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=125869
and
http://www.covertecstore.com/search/search_type.asp?menu=smart&ref_machine=IMATEJASJ#1
The expansys one looks quite nice, but does anyone happen to have one and could give a review and some pictures of it from all angles, specifically the back as the site doesn't display any and it mentions having a belt clip which i'd rather not have but wonder how bad the attachment is on the back if i don't have it on (if it is on the back of course)
Althernatively the covertec one looks very handy for the being able to see the incoming calls with the screen at the front, belt clip attachment doesn't look too obvious / obstructive either.
So anyone who has either could you provide some information / close up photographs?
Thanks

I have just ordered the covertec case so will report back once it has arrived.

I bought a case from Piel Frama (the new model), and I'm very happy with it

Silicone Case for O2 Exec, SPV M5000, i-mate JASJAR, MDA Pro

I have many of this for sale. Please search for my username, chaiwat_t, if this item number has been sold. It got a good review in my country so hope you like it.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Silicone-Case-O...864428709QQcategoryZ48673QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I'm interested - are there any published reviews?
So am I. I'm curious what the white version looks like. Any pics?
They have it here : http://www.boxwave.com/products/flexiskin/flexiskin-qtek-9000_722.htm
In 5 different colors for 27.95$. Can everyone with experience in silicon cases comment about it being a dust hugger? I heard it gets dirty easily but i don't have personal experience.
If it is that bad (the dust) how come they still sell?
I am using one myself for my SPV M5000 and it's not a dust hugger. Anyway, it's normal that if you use the black color, you'll notice the dust easier. It's the same for everything in black color, I think.
I've not seen any reviews yet but you can ask tho who had bought it from me (via eBay).
It makes my life less heavy as other cases make this giant like a big brick while this siliconse case just adds a litte weight to it.
I'll be doing a review soon. And the alumium grey is the best one as far as Jasjar's are concerned as i was told the skin blends very well with the original color.
If you have an exec, then i suggest you go for the clear version, thats your best bet.
Docc.

How much are you selling them with shipping to Madrid, Spain included? In €uros preferably.
I've never used ebay. Where is your link? Thanks
Hi,
I ordered one from ebay and it cost me 24 euros including postage.

Can you please post the link to the seller? Also is that 24€ international postage? I live in Madrid, Spain
I used the link in the first post. Check it out .You have to pay in advance with paypal. I paid 24 euros and am waiting for the delivery (tony_ix: any idea how long that'll take?). This includes postage to the Netherlands (price is GBP 9,49 and 5,99 postage: is about E24) . If I'm wrong, I'm sure tony_ix can give some more info, since he's selling them.
Please do let us know how it fits. One concern of mine is that some of the cut outs might not correspond to the actual holes. If you could possibly post some pictures, that would be very nice.
Yes, that's true. The photos on the boxwave site show that the videocam hole is not exactly in line
For more photos...
http://www.pda4thai.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1333
There is no issue of cutouts not correspond to the actual holes.
ng, I have no picture of the unit with the white color at the moment. From the items sold, the black color is the most popular.
Is there anyway of getting one of these without using ebay or paypal?
Hi,
When I get this case, I won't be able to be of any use as to how the case will fit, since I don't have my device yet . I still have to wait some time before the end of my subscription before I can go get the universal. I bougth this case in eager anticipation. I thought the price was right and figured that by the time I get my device, they would be sold out.
So you'll just have to make do with the pictures online. Based on the pictures I expect it to fit well, also with the cut-outs. I was also not too fond of the flexiskin pictures showing the holes out of allignment. I do hope it will color ok, since I'm going to get the silver mda pro, but I that's just esthaetics.
I was wondering: based on the pictures of this silicone case, would it be of any help in the "keyboard marks" issue, since the case will add an extra strip around the border of the keyboard. This is pure speculation ofcourse, but an optimistic one. Any thoughts?
N
Regarding the keyboard scratchs, i wonder the same thing, any ownser of this skin care to comment?
Riceburner,
Please email me if you want to try paying in another way.
About the keyboard, I think if the skin covers the keyboard, then you'll find it hard to see the alphabet on it and that is pain. I like it to have the cutout for the keyboard.

Yes, but is it thick enough (the case) that the screen part doesn't touch the keyboard? Check this forum for xda exec case marks and you'll see what i mean. The upper part of the device (which is where the screen is) has shiny "dots" that correspond to the keys as they rub against eachother. Normally only the upper part of the screen. Just want to know if the "frame" of the silicon case is thick enough to prevent this to happen as there are a lot of people with the device for more than a month that have seen this symptom
its amazing... the screen is not touching the keyboard
the material feels very soft and strong at the same time
i did not expect it to be so perfect it fits like a glove
if yu guys want any particular fotos pls pm me and i'll try my best to provide
i would recomd this case to any one using the universal...
as i have the jasjar it looks a bit weird because it does not cover the hinge on the outside otherwise excellent case

A good screen protector and where to get one (XDA Orbit, UK)

This may be the wrong forum because my phone doesn't look like the icon for this board - if so, please could someone direct me towards the correct forum? My phone is an XDA Orbit.
Anyway, it came with a screen protector - which was a nice touch. The only problem is it's pretty poor (still better than nothing, mind). Can anyone suggest where, in the UK, to get a good one? I think I've used a Martin Fields one before and a Writeshield, but I can't remember how I liked either one since I don't remember which was which!
So, where can I get a good screen protector for an XDA Orbit in the UK?
I ordered mine over the net from Brando. It takes a while to arrive but the quality is good. I've got one each for my Charmer and Wizard, they ought to have one for your Orbit. It cost approx £7 (I think) including P&P.
Seach for the forum topic on screen protector and you'll get lovely recommendation from other members. There is another brand of srn pro that is heavily recommended by the members as well, not sure if you can get it in UK.
You can try eBay also if you want it fast. Just make sure you get the brand name right.
So Brando is an okay place for buying stuff in the UK then? Also, I suppose my main worry is that the XDA Orbit is the same screen dimensions the Artemis - I don't really understand, are they the same phone with a different shell? Is the Orbit a P3300?
The orbit is the HTC P3300 and you can also find screen protectors at gpsforless.co.uk

Well, I haven't really bought 1,000 stuff from Brando yet, but from my 2 experience with them, they are good in terms of speed (considering the process of it getting from HK to UK), packaging and quality of their product. I dont have an Orbit, but if you (and epmulligan) can confirmed that an Orbit is a P3300, then this ought to do the job . Dont worry about the picture showing you the Palm PPC. Check the words under the description on the compatible devices when ordering.
ANYWAY, chances are, if you were to buy a screen protector for a 240x320 device made by the same company, chances are, the size should be alright (e.g. chances are, the manufacturer will be using the same screen all over).
BTW, did you search the forum for other advises. There are some other brand which the members here also recommended. See if they have Orbit specific ones and probably UK delivery.
UPDATE: I had a look at the screen protector offered at gpsforless for Orbit, which is a 12 pack for £5.99. I've tried some similar 3 pack set from someone from ebay and the quality is REALLY different. Hence, I would advise you not to get it from there.
Thanks for the advice guys, very helpful.
If you don't mind waiting a few days for delivery from the USA the Boxwave Cleartouch Crystal is second to none. I used these on my XDA2i and now on my Orbit.
http://www.boxwave.com/products/cle...h-crystal-screen-protector-htc-p3300_2421.htm
I got mine from this ebay seller dx_accessories
He sells the multi layer stuff and I can confirm it does work. Two main differences from the O2 supplied protector. 1, the top layer is much harder and much more resistant to scratch. It is also smooth (glossy finish) and the stylus glides over it with ease (not the case with the O2 protector). 2, the so-called 'gel' layer that adheres itself to the screen works brilliantly. It left zero air bubble with very small effort. I spent 15 mins getting dust and air bubble out of the O2, this I spent 1 min getting the screen squeaky clean and it sticks on to it perfectly. The size is also perfect, leaving no more than 0.3 mm to any side.
The only problem I have is the glossy finish, making the screen a bit more difficult to see under strong light. I own a Wizard and had a similar protector for similar price but with a matte finish like a normal LCD monitor.
It comes with a screen wipe which is handy. I won't complain for GBP4 all in.

Looked for him and it apears he has nothing at all on sale at all at the moment.
I remembered where I got my writeshield from - globalpositioningsystems.co.uk so I spoke to them on the phone, found the one for the Orbit and ordered it. I just figured I'd stick with what I know because I was satisfied with it before. The main reason I chose this was because the guy on the phone could guarantee me it would fit the device.
I bought mine at http://search.stores.ebay.es/DuraSe...sooZ1QQfsopZ1QQftsZ2QQsaselZ136025443QQsofpZ0
Very quick and impressive quality.
Regards
It turns out the person I spoke to at globalpositioningsystems.co.uk was wrong. The writeshield they told me to get is too big...

Need Handetta Case

I've had a Handetta case for my T-Mobile MDA Pro (HTC Universal) for many years. The belt clip ring came off and will not go back on. So it appears I need a new case. Is Handetta out of business? I cannot find them--although I thought I did on PDAHut back on April 20, but they have not shipped it or responded to my e-mails. Does anyone else make something similar? The closest I've found is one by Noreve.com--but I'm really not sure about this.
Incidentally, my current HTC Univesal is working perfectly (I've had 3 since 2005).
you'd better try to check at http://www.pdahut.com/handetta-luxurious-cradle-compatible-leather-case-for-for-the-htc-magician-orange-spv-m500-mda-compact-xda-mini-qtek-s100-i-mate-jam-dopod-818.html
Not the Same Handetta
That's not the same case. Whatever happened to Handetta? I sent an e-mail to Noreve.com, but they haven't responded yet. Or: is there a tool which can reconnect the belt clip ring to the belt clip?
Update: I searched all over the Web and had to come back to PDAHut. I went through the process again of ordering the "Handetta Luxurious leather case for the XDA Exec, MDA Pro, ..." and everything seemed to go through. There is no indication whatsoever that this item is out of stock. I'm keeping my fingers crossed....

[Update 5.16.12] (Magnetic) Steelie Mobile Device Holder W/pics

Anybody heard of this new car mount yet?
Steelie Mobile Device Holder
They also have an iPad tabletop stand.
Just ordered the car kit cause It looks like a great product. I love this idea!!!
The best thing is that if you send them your case. They'll punch a hole in it so that the magnet can mount straight to the phone and is a little more discrete.
They were originally on Kickstarter and almost doubled their goal.
Just wanted to post/support a (what seems to me like a great product) that is MADE IN THE U.S.A.
What do you guys think?
And no I am not affiliated with them in any way.
*****Update 5.16.12*****
Just received the car kit!
Includes:
1 x STEELIE Ball
1 x STEELIE Socket
1 x Alcohol prep pad
1 x Primer stick
1 x Instructions
Uploaded some photo's to show all that is included with instructions.
Also dims of "STEELIE Ball" (for dashboard) and "STEELIE socket" (for phone).
Will update in a few more days with results in

Me either but when mine comes I'll post a review with pics and a video after some testing.
Although I can't test NFC. I will post GPS results from Google Navigation.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Looks good, went to buy one for holding my Nexus in the car for $35. Went through to Paypal - shipping to Australia? $45!!!! NOPE.

That's unfortunate. Did you try to email them to see if they can help you with possibly offering different shipping options?
Saw these guys at a small town fair in Louisville, CO a week ago. Looked like a good product and the guys who own the company were very enthusiastic and helpful. I specifically asked about GPS interference etc. and they said they'd evaluated several phones with no issues.
I also expressed concern about the size/thickness of the engagement point on the phone and they said that they were working on a lower profile version.
Would really like to see these guys do well. Another small business emerging from middle-class America. Gotta love that.
Similar idea to tetrax, but may be easier to find a mounting spot since it looks like it doesn't need the same sq inch spot if you're not using the vent mounted version.
Wow, this is awesome and perfect for my needs! Just went in for one!
I have a window mount currently but it's a pain if I want to rotate it at all because you have to loosen the ball joint and then tighten it back up. And it's almost impossible to do it with the phone in the holder while keeping it at the angle you want.
That, and the suction cup will fall off from time to time. I've also gotten "yelled at" by a cop for having it up as well, so this will "obstruct my view" way less!
This is so much simpler to use, even though it will add a slight bit of bulk.

Thanks for posting about this here, Iv been researching this product everywhere that I can, but its a hard product to find info about, and whats even worse is that the company has not returned my calls or emails in 3 days since contacting them. Either way I found the steelie product on sale here and I already bought it. http://www.123inkcartridges.ca/accessories-product/ST_C.html and now Im hoping it can be used with my galaxy note i717. Now this is a big phone, probably the biggest and heaviest on the market and im worried it will not work. Does anyone know if my phone will work? Also the steelie on this website looks different than all the other steelie pictures iv found, is the one I bought an older or newer version of the steelie? I already contacted 123 ink cartridges and they assured me that its not counterfeit.
Let us know how the thing feels with a big ol', honkin' magnet on the back of it. I'm intrigued, but think having a magnet the size of a 50-cent piece on the back of my GNex would make my having a pretty custom case rather pointless.
The site also says it doesn't interfere with NFC. I'm dubious and would love to hear from some third parties.

NEVER MIND! the one i bought was a counterfeit... lame. oh well im getting a refund on it.
Any updates?
I see that they offer the Steelie Magnetic Phone Socket for purchase by itself, but dont see it listed for sale anywhere. Would be nice for different cell phone uses that drive the same car. I guess you could always mount it to a easy to swap out phone case if you have the same phone as other users.

Any cases available???

Has anyone found a case other than the included one that works on the Bold N1. This included case won't last long and I would like something a little more protective..
It seems that finally some protective cases for the new BOLD-N1 cellphones are starting to appear on Amazon/USA!

I'd be a little careful buying these - the pictures don't look like the N1 at all. Blu Vivo maybe?
Thanks for your advice!
I contacted the seller of these cases that apparently are for BOLD-N1, but I could not get them to send me some photos of these cases, to check if they were for the Bold-N1 and also if they were of good quality or not.
I also discovered, seeing some photos on Amazon (of the same case, but for another cellphone model), that unfortunately these cases come in two parts (a flat back and a side edge), which causes them to disassemble alone and not adequately protect the phone:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VDG42PS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AEBRMS661YQSQ&psc=1
To top it all, these cases are sent from China and it would take several weeks to reach the US.
For all the above, I decided not to order this case, as it does not seem to be a good quality product.
