Universal - A2DP and AVRCP (jabra stereo headset) - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Accessories

Hi all,
Does the universal (xda exec) support
"A2DP (for music playing) and AVRCP profi les (for remote control), and headset and hands-free profiles"
http://www.jabra.com/JabraCMS/NA/EN/MainMenu/Products/StereoHeadsets/JabraBT620S/JabraBT620s.htm
As these look like the best ones out at the moment...

not saying they are better, but i have got the motorola ht820, and am very happy.
and in reverse order answer,
as far as i understand, nobody yet has released bluetooth v2 update for wm5
(but don't hold me to that)

ooh, they look quite good.. do they allow you to listen to music from the xda exec?

I would love to use my HT820's with my MDA PRO
As far as I know, know patch or fix yet.
Lucky I have an MDA Compact as well and have a bodged bluetooth stack for a2dp works a dream.
Carrying 2 phones.
Lucky for me contract up for renewal next month so will look for a device or phone with a2dp support.

they are supplied with a detatchable cable cable for non-bluetooth audio.
headphones have 2.5mm headphone socket and come with a 2.5-3.5mm stereo cable.
(now looking for a 2.5-2.5 stereo cable)

Wait for Windows Mobile 5.0 AKU 2.0 which adds A2DP + Pushmail support.

is there a release date for that? a quick google didnt show much..

microsoft has already issued AKU 2.0 to the OEM. it's the OEMs turn to implement it in the ROM updates and release it to the end users. check with your OEM as to the release date and post back.
thanks,

approx Mid March for AKU2

Just so you guys know, it is out in QTEK flavor.

Hope they're nearly as good sound quality unwired as wired, coz they sound FANTASTIC. Never though they'd be as good as my Sony MRD-EX71's.....
EDIT: Not quite as good as wired, but damn close. I'm a happy bunny - upgrade went without a hitch, as long as I followed the one in the wiki! Now to go grab all my O2 settings....

Jabra BT620, just got them....they're amazing.... only problem is my Sony Ericsson k750i doesnt let me hear audio on the headphones just phone calls...any ideas on how I can get a2dp or even avrcp on that phone?

Hi!
Have you tried it out yet? I sow some people complaining about software compatibility, that it only let you control Windows Media Player. Does anybody know if this remote let you control the HTC AudioManger application, as this is a much better MP3 player than the old WMP.
Regards,
PK
Dear,
I just take it from this web, and I found It's can used with 2 program
1 is WMP and the other is HTC Audio Manager(but you need install drive that come with package). It's very good smalltalk and remote control but I used p800w It's can't used HTC Audio booster, that made me sad because I like Bass Boost.
Have Any one have Base Boost that can used and work with p800w?
Thanks a lot.

Hi, it sort of works. When I got the package, there was a sticker over the supported models - the O2 Xda Orbit was "not" supported. As I had changed the ROM to the HTC generic version, I loaded the drivers and plugged it in. The adapter works, and I can use normal headphones BUT none of the buttons on the remote function with the O2 XDA
The Artemis and the XDA may just be that little bit different (more than just the case) which may be why they put a sticker over the supported models info. By the way, it was sold as an Artemis accessory and not an O2 XDA accessory, so I cant really send it back.
Therefore, if anyone in the UK has an Artemis (not an O2 XDA) and wants the adapter, they can buy it off me for £15 plus postage. It is brand new, used once, in its original box with driver disk. If you want to pay by PayPal, it's £2 extra to cover the fees, otherwise NOCHEX or direct bank transfer.

no, they are the same phone, hardware wise. I have the remote and a O2 XDA Orbit and it works. You just need to install the HTC Audo Driver update for the P3300. Otherwise, the remote won't work when the phone switches off to save power. This stupid bug affects all apps, including in the middle of a phone conversation. I think that is mainly the reason for the audio driver update. I don't have the HTC Audio Manager, anyone know how I can get hold of it?
The remote works with WMP. It also works with the FM Radio app, pressing play mutes it (rather than the mute button on the side), volume control (not the main phone volume) works, FF/FR switches between preset stations.
The green/red phone buttons works even when running other apps like TomTom or TCPMP. But non of the other soft buttons can be mapped to functions in TCPMP or any other program for that matter as they don't exist like your average hardware buttons on the phone itself. So as a result, you can't assign a button to activate Voice Dial or Voice Command.
The other problem is more to do with the new ExtMiniUSB port. I cannot charge the phone while I listen to the radio or mp3s for that matter! Compare to older generations of HTC phones which has a mini usb + separate 2.5mm headphone socket, this is quite stupid as I believe many ppl charge their phone via USB at work and also listen to the mp3s.
Ok, i was wondering why HTC was giving such strange answers about the useless power consumption.
HTC > (there will be no update to solve this, because it is not knowing issue.)???
Its strange behavior in my opinion when the phone wakes up completely after touching one of the buttons and never goes to sleep again. Not even switches the screen off. It uses more energy that way.
I’ve made a application for this problem just to switch the screen completely off after using the buttons on the remote. It runs in the background and waits for a change in the SystemPowerState. When the backlight dims it will switch of the screen after 1 second.
I can’t prevent the device from waking up but this works good enough.
Next step is to hook in to the remote interface driver and make the buttons act like normal devicebuttons so it would be possible to use another MP3 player. But I ‘m afraid my knowledge about this is not enough. Maybe someone can help me with that.

Oh well, sorry to hear that didn't help. I received my remote on the 17th, noticed it didn't work too well even after installing the driver that came with the remote. Then found the news that Audio Driver Update was release on the 16th so I got the download and it worked from then on.
it tries to you works in stereo
Works fine
I'm been using the rc for 2 weeks now and one must say it's working exactly the way I expected it to. The only lil hitch is the missing "stand-by" so you waste some amount of battery.
Maybe it's possible to check with a small service whether Audio Manager is running in playback mode and react e.g. with turning of background lights.
I'll give it a try next week in office (need my VS).
Anybody with experience?
wold you recommend one then?

For me it's working without drivers with HTC Audiomanager, WMP and with the FM radio and it's fine to use my own headphones.
HTC's stupid headphone/power socket combo & ultimatum
Dear HTC,
Please, if your are not the appropriate person to be considering my email, pass it on to someone who can adequately able to address my concerns.
Briefly, I am a huge fan of HTC handsets, having been a the proud owner of no less than 5 different models in the last 3 years.
My particular issue is with the HTC TYTN and TYTN II (or Kaiser) models. I am far from alone in this concern, as a simple Google search will reveal, so I am not going to waste time justifying myself. I'll launch immediately into the criticism and the request for an explanation, etc...
2 years ago, my first TYTN had to be replaced after 3 months because the ill-conceived combo-headphone-power mini USB socket became faulty. After 13 months it became faulty again. Since it was out of guarantee, i had to repair it myself. A month later however, when the socket once again broke, I installed a separate headphone socket in the side of the case myself, it was easy... TOO easy...
Since then my original TYTN has been fine.
A few weeks ago, I purchased the new TYTN II or Kaiser. I knew beforehand that the headphone and power sockets were once again the same. However, I assumed that they would have been strengthened due to the bad pres the previous model had received over this issue.
I was sadly mistaken. Within 3 weeks I have had to replace my TYTN II after the headphones started crackling when I moved the headphone cable. After examination, the mini-USB socket is IDENTICAL to the original TYTN,and bending in the same way. I have now stopped recommending this phone to people due to this. Either you don't intent users of this handset to use headphones, or you dont care that the socket isn't up to the job!
Considering that I influence thousands of people through my website in their choice of hanset upgrades, I am sure that HTC will feel the financial blow of my decision, at least slightly.
My questions are as follows:
1.) Why, after all the bad press the initial single connector design got, did HTC decide to do exactly the same stupid thing with the Kaiser (TYTN II)?
2.) Are you prepared to issue me, free of charge, with a a
brand new model, with a SEPARATE headphone socket, for which I will write an article in the magazine I work for singing your praises and recommending your improved Kaiser II, with the separate stereo headphone socket?
I formally give you 7 days to reply to my satisfaction, considering I have spent nearly £1000 with you. Failing to do so will result in a loss of revenue to yourselves totaling at least many hundreds of thousands of dollars/pounds.
Sincerely
Lawrence Bowen
Those with the remote who want to save power when using it as an mp3 player, use MortSaver. basicall you can set it to turn screen off after a predetimend time. Therfore every time you use your remote, it normally turns on the sreen, and never turns off wasting battery whlle its sitting in your pocket.
Mort saver turns if off again after each use of the remote, so you can leave it in your pocket with the knowledge you are not draining you battery.
now Ill I need is some equalizer I can use with Mediaplayer!

Bluelooth headsets that actually work (Orbit)

Hello,
I would Welcome advise on which bluetooth headsets people use with their orbit.
I currently have a Motorola HS850 which although does connect to the orbit, does not transmit any sounds. (except for a beep to say its connected !)
So anyone who has a Orbit running the o2 WM6 and actually has a working bluetooth headset to make calls on I would appreciate knowing about, thanks.
Steeve,
We've tested the QStarz range on the entire current HTC range and O2 range and they all work fine. The BHQ-360 is popular and cheap.

High End "over the head" headphone

Hi, I am looking for a good headphone to use with my HTC Touch Pro and my laptop. I will use it together with rc e100 or w100.
Very good sounds
Possible to fold to fit in a big pocket.
Over the head
Nothing or not much leaking of sounds
Possible to use in light sports like heavy walking
Good for music like classics, string instrument and Rock. Ofcource a lot of others to...
Good sound when making calls both for me and the second part
Today I user a Porta Pro headphone but I would use to get better sounds and less leaking.
I have looked (on the Net) at Sennheiser PXC300. I think the PXC350 or PXC450 would be to big?
Does anyone have suggestions for me?
I'm sorry for bad english...
Plantronics 590
Everything you asked for plus stereo bluetooth so you can have great music and crystal clear conversations. I would suggest the A package vs the E package as more comes with it.
If you don't know who Plantronics are - they are the mother company of Altec Lansing. They know sound.

They are unfortunately not manufacturing any more. I have lissened to them. I think that is the best you can get from bluebooth. I have looked for simulare BT headset but can't find any. Therefor I think I have to get a wired one.
I've got an extra pair (unopened) on deck I can sell you, but you would have to pay the shipping. Also Mennesysis wrote a great piece on Bluetooth A2DP headsets here on XDA. Search it and it should pop up.

First impressions!!!

OMG, my iphone is seriously going in the bin, this is a different breed of phone in every way, I have just done a 10 min video of A2DP working perfect in my car, the iphone only has partial A2DP so you can't change tracks, pause or adjust volume on the stereo itself this to me was a killer
The Desire just pairs and go's, it's smooth with multiple applications open and scrolling is exactly the same as the iphone, I love the bookmarks page so I can see the website i am visiting like suggested sites in IE8, the music player is as good as my Iphone and my iphone holder in the car even fits the desire nicely so I can watch woops i mean my passengers can watch videos while driving or parked up.
So far i have had little exposure but the experience is very iphoney and this is a good thing as the iphone is smooth as silk and so is this, I will post the video up here in 5 mins, its 600mb so need to compress it and whack it on youtube
Happy days!

Hey there,
Looking forward to the video! Just wanted to say I've been my Desire for a few hours now and it has been growing on me. I think I have it customized the way I like but that will probably change by tomorrow. I'm still getting used to the keyboard but it is very responsive, what really wins it for me is the web performance especially on WiFi.
I'm typing this right now on the desire and it just seems to scream through everything. Will post more impressions soon.

Yeah screams through everything is an understatement, I only had an iphone 3g but loading up all the pictures on this site used to take approx1 min, now it's instant.
I find the keyboard slightly smaller than the iphones so the keys are narrower, think my fingers are a bit too chubby and need to get used to a new keyboard haha..

+1 for the MJ video
Quick question...were you streaming off of WiFi?
To answer your questions, some new cars have the ability to A2DP stream bluetooth music, I am not sure about specifics, the MJ video was a youtube vid streamed over wifi I was parked on my drive so still have perfect wifi signal there
The music is the default tunes that come on the phone, they give you 7 or 8

Thanks. Man I can't wait to get mine
I am also concerned about bluetooth functionality with my built in set in the car.
I have a Hero now, and I can only make calls, no music streaming on stock 1.5 nor the legend 2.1 ROM. But I was able to stream music through my laptop and it was flawless.
On the other hand, when I had the Nokia e71 I was able to hear the phone's ringtone through the car speakers - but never tried streaming then. But with the Hero (and previously Tytn II) I only hear the annoying default car ring tone, so is this related to the ability to stream?
on HTC website they have the following specifications for bluetooth in the Desire:
Bluetooth® 2.1 with Enhanced Data Rate
A2DP for wireless stereo headsets
FTP and OPP (object push) for file transfer
Other supported profiles: AVRCP, GAP, GOEP, HFP, HSP, PBAP, SPP, Service Discovery Application Profile
while the e71 has this:
Bluetooth profiles: DUN, OPP, FTP, HFP, GOEP, HSP, BIP, RSAP, GAVDP, AVRCP, A2DP
anyone familiar with these bluetooth profiles and can figure it out?
To the OP - the youtube video looks great, can you let me know where you got the car holder and its model name?
Regarding bluetooth, my car has only a basic factory installed car stereo but am wondering if a A2DP bluetooth interface like the one here would enable me to achieve the same results without me having to buy a new stereo. Is this feasible or is there a cheaper alternative?
117 quid for that adapter is a bit steep a decent stereo is about 150 but it depends what your own one is like, I will post up
the type of holder I got in a sec once I find it, I got.it off eBay

That's very annoying if true. The user guide says "You need to connect a headset first to the audio jack of your phone to use FM Radio. FM Radio uses
the stereo headset as the FM radio antenna"
No mention that it has to be the supplied headset. It says "a" headset. And it only says the headset is the antenna. Most phones with built in FM radio will accept any headset as the antenna.
EDIT: It is also contradicted by this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5998006&postcount=6
I have never tried a phone that need Offical headsett, the last i tried was htc hd2, no problem
Not unexpected , needing headphones plugged in, but for me that is irritating as i was hoping to be able to use it over a stereo bluetooth headset (yes i know there are headsets with radios built in but doubling up functionality annoys me , grump over)
Well considering I sat this morning listening to the radio with two different pairs of headphones, I disagree! One was a pair of in ear sennheisers and the other was a headset that came with my webcam.
