XDA-EXEC update on Orange SPV-M5000 ? - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

Does anyone know whether it is possible to install the O2 updated ROM on an range SPV-M5000? On attempting I get the dreaded ERROR 120 Country ID error.

http://www.orange.co.uk/business/download/m5000/
Just released. looks like it's still shipped with that crap radio though! 1.03 can you believe they still think that it's a problem free radio. Anyway give it a go.

hi
whats up with the radio rom version on this update???
1.03??? thats so 2005!!!

I've just completed the update and my first impresions are good.
My earlier issues thought to be radio ( delay in ringing, poor signal etc ) seam to be no more with this update.

Hiya all,
Does anyone know if I can use the Orange SPV-M5000 ROM update on my T-Mobile MDA-Pro (and get rid of the T-Mobile simlock )
Thanks!

Yes you can use it on your MDA but you will not get rid of your sim lock

Bummer.... :? just hoped it would be simlocked for Orange then 8)

Just wondering if the phone has been unlocked would updating to this new ROM re-lock it? Is it worth updating to this ROM, I have 1.13.49 WWE.

No I don't think so from what I have read and understand the program that decides the simlock has nothing to do with your OS ROM. But as I have mentioned in previous posts I think the I-mate Rom is so much quicker than the Orange rom.

I have a 24 months UK warranty with orange just wondering will upgrading to the imate rom void the warranty? Should I stick with orange to keep the warranty?
Cheers

I think you will void your warranty by upgrading to imate ROM. However if you download the Orange ROM also if there is a problem with your handset you could always put that back on. I have had my M5000 about 5 months and it already has been through 4 ROM updates to find the best. If the worst happens when you update your ROM give HTC europe a call. Someone in an earlier thread said they charge £40 to reflash for you.

to upgrade to Rom 1.72 or not?? (Hard Reset Issue)

Hi there,
I worked for a company who bought over 20 i-mate with ROM 1.66.
Unfortunately, we had about 5 devices which suffer from Hard-Reset few times each.
I read somewhere that the solution might be an upgrade to Rom 1.72
cuase the Hard Reset is a known issue of the 1.66..
I'm going to upgrade them devices soon, but would like you to device me
if the new Rom actually solve the Hard-Reset issue or not?
Thanks in advanced,
Tomer Eisner - CTO
HANDY IL
hi
bin using 172 for about 3 weeks and no problems here
thanks for your answer.
but, just one more quick question:
have you ever suffer from the Hard Reset issue
before the upgrade?
Are you familiar with the issue?
TOmer
rom 1.66 problem
my o2 xda2 used to have 1.66 rom. hard reset occurred to me like every day. i installed it back, then it would freeze, then hard reset itself. it happened 5 times. then i upgraded to 1.72 i-mate rom. it's bn 2 weeks, no problem so far.
hi again
never had the hard reset problem
as soon as i got my xda2 upgraded it to the orange 166 rom then when the imate one came out upgraded to that one.
hope it helps
Since I read a lot about radio and bluetooth improvements in rom 1.72, I would like to upgrade my T-Mobile MDA II (rom 1.60.00 wwe) too.
But I would also like to keep the 'special' T-Mobile application (as far as I know those are in extended rom).
Is it possible to use the only the radio and rom from for example the imate or qtek 1.72 rom and use the 1.60.36 extended rom included in the latest T-Mobile rom published?
(I know I will have to edit country codes and all, the question is just to know wheter or not putting together such a set will succeed)
Which 1.72 rom would be best: The Qtek one (released today) or the imate one?
:?:
My friend bought a brand new i-mate loaded with the 1.66 ROM and bootloader 1.06
He was suffering from the frequent Hard rest alot.
He tried upgrading to the latest 1.72 ROM but that didn't solve any problems. And the device seem to still go through frequent Hard Reset.
I am guessing this has something to do with the bootloader's version?
So my question is..
Is there anyone with the same bootloader's version (1.06) and same ROM version (1.66 or 1.72) also that have no Hard reset problems? :?
Thanks

latest o2 update

im am going to update my xda2 but haven't decided on the rom version yet
currently i am on
rom 1.60.00wwe
radio 1.10.00
protocol 1337.18
extrom 1.60.50
it is the O2 XDA2 unlocked and using an orange sim card.
i was just going to get the O2 standard update but now i am on here and am tempted by the new 2003se rom. i still have detailed reading to do b4 upgrading but the questions i haven't found answered while scan reading are.
1.does it matter what bootloader version you have? (i have read conflicting reports about 1.06, how do u find what bootloader u are running?)
2.if i upgrade to the latest O2 rom will i have any additional problems if i then upgrade to WM 2003 SE at a later date.
3.O2 told me if i do the offical upgrade my orange sim wont work in it. I presume this is Bull ****?
i see that Sin and [Krueger]Dr.Stein have produced guides on how to upgrade and zeroextreme has produced an extended rom so it shouldn't be much of a problem following their instructons.
4. has anyone tried all the different varient ? if so did u think 1 was better than the other? have these been compared in another post?
5.i believe a while back there was 1 rom that was considered the official unoffical rom is there a newer 2003 se rom like this?
my main reason for upgrading is i can't send mms messages and i just like being ahead of the game.
after much trawling the net and speaking to orange data support i need to upgrade to the latest O2 Rom. at first i thought this was just orange incompetence but i really have tried a lot of stuff now gprs works fine but mms is a no go.
im off now to continue reading thanks for any responses

NEW ROM: Orange UK 1.30.90

Comes with MSFP but not A2DP as expected, but one suprise is that it has been bundled with radio 1.03 - obviously they think this is the most stable?
Can be downloaded by anyone here:

If you flash, post your experiences here... as I will...
I found that there have a massage with AKU2 come form the link you provide
the massage form offical as below;
How to download and install your new M5000 AKU 2 ROM.
The ROM posted on this website has AKU 2/Messaging and Security Feature Pack functionality. This is not a ‘patch’ – rather this is a total ROM replacement. Please ensure that any data you currently have on your M5000 is backed up.

Yes, it's A2DP it doesn't come with (stereo bluetooth). The AKU2 update includes MSFP.

yes
Is A2DP included?
Presumably it is possible to replace the 1.03 radio rom with the 1.09 or even simply exclude the radio update if already running 1.09?

I'd imagine so. I'll give it a whirl later, without the radio ROM, and let you know.
it's possible with noid update... I just updated without the radio...
Nice one. Cheers!

confirmed. NO A2DP included. Maybe next time......
M5000 rom update
I'm asuming that this radio has not changed at all. can anyone confirm?
I'm running 1.09 radio from imate update and I'm not sure if it's worth updating at all. Orange have come in too late again and with this radio I don't see the point in all the hastle.

diggy.....wtf is up with your double and triple posts on these forums!? sort it out...
(no offence, btw)
M5000
This post problem is not me as far as I no. Why is there a previous post problem I not aware of? I've not noticed any other than this.
Anyway I've updated To new Orange Rom and it appears that my earlier problem ( delay in ringing etc ) thought to be radio. Is now no longer since upgrade.
Is upgrade worth it?
In my opinion if anyone is interested YES

Upgrade error --> Devicelock

I tried to upgrade my dutch mda pro to the new qtek 9000 rom after I had upgraded to the new english t-mobile mda pro rom.
He wil start i an calibrate and al that and then you get the customisation and after that reset and he starts again and you must calibrate again enzo....
But after two or three times you get the message DEVICELOCK
you have got this rom illegally
what do I do??? More important how do I get my mda pro working again with t-mobile rom??
And yes I did follow the instructions on upgrading using the bootloader principle.....
Any news on this problem? I haven't tried the update, yet, but would of course hate it to get this error...
Yes, you have downloaded the wrong ROM. with that lock in it.
Try another one.

Which one?
Any other will do. Just try it.
I think this one is the best because it the first and only one that support AKU2 and A2DP:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe
I do not think the roms on xda-developers ftp site are locked.
Maybe the device itself is locked.
Did dadio22 flash with this UNI_QTEK_13077_176_10900_WWE_Ship.exe rom?
This rom is not locked.

I had one rom on the xda ftp server that had this devicelock.
Ehm it has simlock on it still but I used the new qtek rom(UNI_QTEK_WWE_13077_130176_10900_WWE_Ship) that was available on xda but I got it to work changed the provider to t-mobile and updated it again and it works again. But I don't think it works alright have got a few errors which I didn't have with the new t-mobile uk update.
Does anybody know what causes this because if it happens a lot more I think I want that t-mobile rom back. Is that possible because I think it would be a downgrade.....
wel to be honest, its a newproblem , ive never heard about ti before, as far as i know, u should ve had the Country ID error, rom locks and stuff, are to be detected through the uploader utility, but after you install it sucessfully on the system u get such an error, ik durf niet te zeggen dat ik iets over dit problem ooit heb gehoord
help
I have got the same problem. After the install from 02 rom to the qtek i get a message saying that i have illegally acquired the rom and device is locked.

wow! this is the first time i've read about a device that's got locked due to an upgrade. i don't have a qtek (it's from the stingy '3' right?? ) but i've flashed several UK's m5000 and one S'pore's Dopod using every available Rom, including qtek's (just to see the differences) with no probs except countryID error on dopod. which i solved by unlocking it with Buzz's Uni_unlock program to make Super CID unlock (even tho' it is a factory sim and network unlock device but just from another region/country).
As thereis only one latest rom release that i know of (from Orange), i am sure all the roms available here and at buzzdev.net has no device lock. i guess the problem could lie with your bootloader version. if it's not BL 1.00 or 1.01 why not change it to these first bfor flashing other roms.
other than that it must be hardware related which is unlikely as the device is made by htc and only renamed qtek, and for qtek to change or tinker with it could infringe on htc's copyright.
It was only the qtek rom i had trouble with. No need for that now since the new AKU 3 rom came out. Worked Great

Anyone successfully unlock, hard spl, and flash an O2 Ignito?

So, has anyone successfully unlocked, hard spl and flashed a new ROM into an O2 Ignito?
There's so little about the O2 ignito here, but i'm thinking to get one and try a wwe Rom on it.
Thanks all
some people have them

There's not much information relating to the "MDA Compact IV" either.

True true, but don't forget it's the same hardware anyway so all of the updating applies to all 3 versions of the phone.
I personally have the MDA Compact IV and have updated ROM/SPL/Radio fine, and my friend has the O2 XDA Ignito and has also updated all 3 of his so i can confirm its safe
The XDa Ignito comes unlocked as standard - you can use any SIM card in it. As for the rest - I put Olinex 1.40 on mine and then have flashed 3 different roms from here all fine
I'm going to put a new rom on my Ignito tonight hopefully.
First though I want a copy of the original O2 rom to put back on if necessary.
So far i've managed to dump the rom from the phone to my computer, but now just need to convert that all back into a ROM somehow.

same position here, i got the raw files and the spl but trying to find out how to build a rom with the raw files.
please update if youv managed to find anything
I also have the raw files but if I have no idea how to get these back into a normal flashable o2 rom! I am sure we will manage it if we need it for warranty purposes though if it comes to it
i think we need to start a new thread for this to get more attention, some of the advanced users will deffinitely be able to help.
its worth doing in my opinion
As has already been stated, there's loads of us XDA Ignito users on here. Within 2 days I'd flashed a new SPL and ROM onto my device. Would be nice to have the original o2 rom to roll back to if necessary but I'm perfectly happy with out it currently.
As far as I'm aware o2 are one of the few operators that don't lock their devices. Out of all the handsets I've had from them over the years I'm as yet to receive a sim locked one.
markquinton,
can you help us out with redeveloping the original o2 rom!
seems like you have some ccoking experience having a custom rom on your orbit! see my previuos post in this thread
I'm afraid I only built custom rom's from the base HTC one's made available for the Orbit originally when WM6.1 came out. I've never worked with raw files and wouldn't have the foggiest about how to get them back into a flashable state. Sorry!
hi all am hoping to get this thread going again as im having trouble geting Unsigned-Hard-SPL-Diamond-OliNex onto my ignito. did any of you guys have trouble?
Hard SPL on ignito
I managed to install the hard SPl onto my ignito, but have been unable to flash a new rom.
Think the pre-installed works well though, I just installed the original black theme as the blue o2 one is pants.
Radio upgrade has been fine.
Biggest recommendation I have is to install the VGA version of quick GPS. It REALLY made a difference to my satellite lock times from like 10 mins to about 10 secs
no problems with it works fine mine was on o2 software using latest dutty's now.
give it a go, loads faster now
