Unknown and private callers pictures

Thanks to this forum, my HD is almost perfectly customized with the current tools. Now I am going to experiment with the new radio 1.12.
However one thing is still bugging the hell out of me. Everytime I get a call of an unknown caller, I get the default avatar picture (grey and boring). I know that you can change this with some programs, like Photo Contacts Pro. But I don't want to install this, because I like the standard call pickup screen with the slider.
Is it possible to change the pictures for incoming unknown and private callers without installing another program?

phone book categories; divert to voice mail by category?

i use my TP2 for both personal and work, and its on 24/7, but i would like to automatically divert business calls(as defind in the caterogy section in outlook, when you hit edit contact - more)
ideally iwould like to be able to select a category and choose if i want ot divert that to voicemail
if it could also define it to auto divert the category based on day and time and if possible based on calender entry or defineable.
also if it could change my profile as well that would be amazing.
so does anyone know how i could go about doing this

I'd strongly recommend "Magicall" by Mobiion ( http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html )
It can definitely divert via Category; not sure if it can do it by the type of number (business; home) as I've not tried that yet

that is perfect (on the face of it, havnt tested it in the field as yet) i just want to block certain people during certian times, and they are stored ascertain categories.
i hope that the "hang up" option diverts to my voice mail,
and to be able to SMS them as "sorry im on holiday" text is just the iceing on the cake

Yes - that's exactly what 'hangup' does (same as pressing the red button on any other mobile.
I do think it's a little confusing as to what magicall has named the following operations:
Magicall 'Ignore' = Do nothing, other than mute the ringer
Magicall 'Hangup' = Divert Immediately to voicemail (i.e. 'do not disturb')
I use Magicall primarily for handling outgoing International and/or calls to mobiles. I have different international calling cards set up, and whenever I dial anything other than a US domestic number I get Magicall to change the outgoing number and use a calling card. Saves me $$$, and allows me to use different calling cards for different countries/types of call automatically.
I'm considering writing a small app that will allow me to set and/or toggle individual rules within Magicall for a period of time (I often want to just hit a 'do not disturb' button as I get called into an unscheduled meeting, diverting most calls to VM without actually turning off the phone or manually creating a meeting to say I'm busy)
As you hit the button it would allow you to specify a time period; if that was about to expire the phone would vibrate to alert you, if you did nothing the rule would be re-enabled). I've only been using Magicall for a couple of weeks, but I think this would be a very useful addon (and would work well - there's already a command line interface for external apps to control rules)
If anyone thinks that would be useful, let me know - not sure how many Magicall users there are around here! (I'm not associated with them - just a happy customer!)

[Q] Looking for App: Call Block/filter ans SMS auto answer

Hello,
When I used Windows Mobile I had and app that could filter and block call. I could add some phones to my blacklist (so if I received an call from this number it would block it) whitelist and I could also send some pre-wrote SMS when receiving a call.
So if I were on a meeting and someone called me, I could send him a SMS saying "This is an auto response: I'm in a meeting right now and I'll call you back when it finishes." I could do this direclty in the answering screen. I could "Answer" the call, "reject" and "ignore and send SMS"
Does anyone knows if we have a similar app for Android? Couldn't find it in the Android market.

I'm not sure about the auto-SMS feature, but the Galaxy S has a built-in feature to block calls from certain numbers.

I m looking for the same. I did found the app AutoResponder whitch sends a predefinded SMS to all incoming calls when the app is activated. Its not exactly what im looking for because im not able to choose on incoming call screen whether i want to send the SMS or not.

Yeah. With this Windows app that I had on my HTC Kaiser (one year ago... after that I used a Blackberry for sometime). I could choose which call I would answer with SMS. I could see who was calling and decide to answer, ignore or send the SMS.

Get Easy filter 1.2 from market or install the other hundreds using "filter" as keyword

Sending SMS to reject call is available on our SGS out of the box. When a call comes through, there is this little arrow at the bottom of the screen. Pull that up and you can see the list of auto-reject SMS messages. Click on 1 and your phone will reject the call and send out the SMS.
You can configure the list of messages under Settings->Call Settings->All Calls->Reject Call with Message

- This app allows you to send sms to missed/rejected calls.
- It also allows you to send a 'default' sms after user specified time period. e.g. you can specify to send a msg after 10 secs

(req) Dialer plus other dial options

When I call people, it's almost always voip or messaging via a bunch of different options.
I really really want to integrate these into one place.
I imagine a dialer that has different and quick to access options (if you can be bothered to open the attachment you'll see what I mean). HA! the upside down attachment
So, I want a list of contacts. I tap a contact and a menu of ways of contacting appears. then I can tap the method, maybe skype call, and it will call the number stored via skype. I tap video and it video calls via skype. Maybe I tap we chat or whats app or QQ or msn and then I can message them or send a voice clip, or whatever.
Calling from phones is really changing and the dialer is not keeping up.
I can't see anything that fits with what I want...
Any ideas?

Question Is there a way to get announcement of SMS sender?

I found a way to get the caller's name to be spoken -- but I guess there is no built-in way to get this to happen for a text message? I would be nice to know who is texting without having to look at my phone.

I found a way, but it's not built-in and I think you'll need root.
I installed 'text to speech' from the play store, typed in 'messge from .........' saved all the names I wanted and transfered them to system/media/audio/notifications/sound theme/calm (root needed?)
Then chose their name as the ringtone, works in whatsapp aswell.

i did something somewhat related as well. i went into a text to speech website and created both a ringtone and an sms tone for specific contacts only. so say if i'm driving and the sound comes "liam calling" or ä message tone of "sms from liam", that will be from my son which i need to address as it might be urgent. but if the generic tone "sms" or my usual ringtone comes up, i don't address it right away. i went one step further for the other notifications. i created ones for teams, messenger, office email etc.. so say when the tone "front door" sounds, this is the camera in front detecting a person.
