Treo threaded sms - HTC Excalibur

Has anyone got this workin on there Excaliber and does it work properly?

Try this app instead: http://benhirashima.com/software/

Ahhh thanks.....Have you tried this?
does it work well?
Thanks

I've tried this and qthreader and much prefer qthreader. It's notifications are more reliable, allows sms to email addresses and runs a lot faster than txtman.
http://www.trianglepowers.com/
get the version for the q, it works perfectly on the landscape display.

Triangle Powers isn't working... I remember seeing someone posting direct links on some forum somewhere that do work.
Does anyone have them by chance? Thx in advance. (the one for the Q/Dash)

you have to "application unlock" the dash first.

Anyone able to Appunlock the Dash? I have tried many times with no success.

qthreader works great on my HTC Excalibur.. but how do u adjust the volume on the incoming text message.. it seems that the system notification tone is bypassed by the program..

I'd really like to know this also. The program works great but I can't hear any notifications.

I dont think you can adjust the volume, what you can do is replace the default sound with another. The default sound \Programs\smsthreader\newsms.wav Just rename any .wav to newsms.wav and overwrite the one in the folder listed above, back up the original if you like.

Anyone got a link to qthreader
the above site seems to be down?
Cheers
Jamie

I just replaced the newsms.wav file with another .wav file and it worked but now the sms notification is so loud the speakers crackle when i recieve an SMS..

mp3 patch

can anyone give me the link to download the mp3 patch that allows my 9090 to use mp3 as ringtone.
bye
Depending on what ROM you are using you can do it anyway! Just copy/paste the mp3 file in the Windows\Rings folder ;-).
i've just copied the mp3 into the ring folder, but it doesn't work.
I remember that exist a patch to do it.
I will help you...
Here it is...
That's it!
Thank you
bye
cool im gonna do that now
i have a problem:
i've installeg mp3 patch and i can see the mp3 in ringtone list and i can set it as ringtone, but when sombody calls me there is only a short beep what should i do?

I have similar problem - Wavs rings cut off
Sorry I can't help you, I have a similar problem with WAVs,
My problem is, I use 16bit 11khz WAVs for ringtones and they cut out just as they begin, I've missed so many calls I had to get another phone, i'm a bit of a music producer & NORMALISED the samples so they are LOUD as possible OR I wont hear them in the busy city, they are about 3 second loops. I think I'm just tearing out the battery or CPU or both, but it is 98% charged! Could it be the LENGTH of the sample? My old Sony J5 used to do this same problem. If I reduce the volume I won't hear it and still cuts out, sometimes I have to Soft-Reset in order to get it to play at all :/ same with bluetooth headset. So I must try Mp3s but sounds like same thing happens from the previouse post. What are best Bitrates and Lengths for MP3s?
Just found the mp3 patch will try that as well.
I think my battery is running out faster as I just changed to 1.13 radio ROM, check my sig if your a major techie. HELLPPP!!
XDA jack of all trades master of none!..
Knightmare please help!
I don't believe my BAD LUCK! I applied the Unidirectional Patch and the MP3 rings patch , because I get ran them both and reset, Now the Screen is all messed up, the OWNER INFO SCREEN is all fragged up, and wont refresh to to propper display, tried soft reset, what can I do??
ANSWER: HARD RESET, MAKE SURE REGIONAL SETINGS ARE CORRECT. RESTORE FROM BACKUP. DON'T USE MP3 As Rings Patch OR Uniderectional Patch. I have just emailed [email protected] about this, but there firmware is so old and bad i dont hold much hope,
SOLUTION: had to buy a new phone that WORKS!
Can I use mp3's for notification with new textmessage???
or just wav files?
To use another file where do I have to put it??

how do i run these mp3 ringtone patchs on to the ppc rather than the pc?
It's a Software conflict
 Yeah ... i think i know ur problem ... ther must be a software that u installed that is causing a conflict.
my BA wouldn't inform me if i recieved an sms and i found out that the program Effy-CJ with fonts 3.1 was the culprit ... :x
i uninstall it and all is well.
try going thru ur software installations to check which one is causing your MP3 ringtone not to play.
one thing though, even if i can set an Mp3 as my ringtone, how cum i cannot set Mp3 to notify me of sms or mms ???
any clues ???

I installed the cab file but I cannot see my mp3 files at any list. Can anyone explain how to select an mp3 file as a ringtone? Thanx.
find them in File explore,
bring up the drop down menu for the file,
Option, 'Set as ringtone' should there select it,
the mp3 will be copied to your '/windows/ring' folder
and set as ring tone.
thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I installed the englishmp3ringtone cab file and i was able to find the mp3 in explorer and under the sub menu I chose "set as ringtone" and even after a restart it's not set as the tone. Is there anything else I need to do?
I found out that after installing PocketMind Pocket Music the mp3asringtone cab was disabled. after removing the program the problem disappeared.
Quick question guys, does this patch and MP3 ring thing only work for wn2k3 or can it be equaly used on wm2k5?

SOLVED: set pda to mute... EXCEPT one phonenumber.

My wife is going have our baby very soon. So I want to be reachable during work, including meetings... but only for her number.
So I wonder, is it possible to set my phone mute except for one phonenumber, and if so, how?
Cheers, Arend
Just created the possibility of being practical... And what I thought of is: what I could do is use a default ringtone that makes no noise at all and set a customized ringtone for my wifes number.
Gonna test this but I think it will work.
OK. Works like a charm.
Thanks for providing a good practical problem and a solution too
Nice one...was interested to see how this worked out..off to record a silent ring tone!!
Thnx guys for your possitive responses.
To be in service, here is the silent ringtone I created. To use it, place it in "\Windows\Rings".
Being installed as I type thanks for share - emul

Phone won't ring

Hi all.
I have an MDA c.III with WM6.
Everything seems to work fine, except the phone does not ring when called.
I can hear audio (tried mp3 and FM radio), I hear ther reminders from calendar and tasks, I also hear the SMS notification.
However, when someone calls me, the MDA vibrates (if set to do so) but does not ring.
Upon choosing the ring, if i "click" the test button the ring sounds.
When called, it doesn't.
I have tried quite a lot with settings (there are several points for this in the software) to setup the rings; however, it simply doesn't make a sound upon incoming calls.
Would anyone have any suggestion (or simply the solution) for this problem?
Gyc
Had a similar problem and found that other installed software seemed to effect it. Similar tale with sms notification but a soft reset seemed to resolve the issue but it's not an ideal solution.
Most likely this is a file association problem. If you've installed another media player and associated WAV, MP3, WMA, etc. then the phone will not ring. The association needs to remain with the Windows Mobile Media Player.
I've tried to verify this, but where do I tind the file associations in WM6?

Is the phone volume (as opposed to the pda sound volume) slider turned up ?
Phone volume is ok (there are 2 sliders, one for PDA, one for phone).
I checked file associations with Total Commander.
Media files are correctly associated with windows media player; when "clicked" upon WMP starts and plays the files, including the ring tones.
However, when called the phone still does not ring...
What the heck...

Puzzling. I guess you've checked all the obvious things - ring volume, settings in the phone options, sound & notification options, etc. Have you also tested if the phone will vibrate if you turn audio off, or does it still go directly to VM? Has it ever rang? Do you have any other phone / dialer software running, a recent change? Could be a ROM or [gasp] self-inflicted issue. If all else fails - hard reset or switch ROMs.

I got it second hand; the information I have is that it used to ring and vibrate normally before it got to me.

No other phone software.
No recent changes that I have performed, apart from the normal menu items personalization, chosing ring tones, audio volume and adding a few mp3's.

I'd really need to avoid that because I use the phone for work and 1) do not have the time right now to reisntall all the applications 2) cannot risk to brick the phone and be left "hanging" without.

The only other suggestion I might offer is to ensure that your ringtones are good. Try using the stock ringtones that came with the Windows Mobile, if you aren't already. You can find them in these forums if you need them. Maybe also try different types, all small files, such as WAV, WMA, MP3 and see if you can make ANY of them work.
All media files work when played with WMP.
Also, while configuring the ringtones, hitting the "test" button ringtons play ok.
That's precisely the odd thing.
Everything works fine (calendar alerts, alarm, sms slerts, fm radio, mp3's, etc.) except that when called the phone does not ring!
So far it is the ONLY thing that does not work in my phone!
It's sooo frustrating...

Check settings by starting the phone (green phone button) > Menu > Options > Services tab > select Call Forwarding > click Get Settings.
Ensure you don't have the "Forward all incoming phone calls" box unchecked. Also check the third drop down list that indicates how many seconds before forwarding to voice mail. Set it to 20 or 30 seconds.
Should look something like the attached. Except your voicemail service number will be different depending upon your location. If this doesn't work, then I'm tapped of ideas - sorry.
Thanks for the suggestion, but didn't work.
I suppose I'm only left with hard reset...
But I'd really hate to do it...
.wav and .mp3 will play but not .wma
I'm having this same problem too. I think I caused the problem when I installed MortPlayer and associated file extensions with Mort. Even with uninstalling Mort, .wma files won't play. What's interesting is .wav files and .mp3 WILL play as the ringtone. I've checked file associations and .wma = Media Player but the .wav extension is somehow not listed (using Schaaps Advanced Config to see file extensions.) Thoughts on this very frustrating problem are appreciated!
I'm sorry if I'm not very encouraging, but I simply gave up.
I use my phnoe mostly for work, so I cannot afford to have it inoperative as I try other roms or windows installations.
In some way, I have come around the problem by using a bluetooth earpiece that rings. It's not very loud, but it helps.
Hello gyc,
I also had that problem several times and in my case it was always related to 3rd party MP3-Software. Have a look at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Problems and try, if fixing the entries at the registry (e.g. using total commander ce) helps ...

Notification sound issues

Hi,
My first post here, hopefully an easy one.
I really hope i am just being stupid and over looking something simple.
I have an unbranded TP2 and i use a Pay & Go SIM in it.
this has not been a problem, everything works exactly like it should. my issue is that O2 insist on sending me notification messages after every text and call.
This wasn't a problem on any other phone as notifications came in a silent, or discreet message just telling the the amount of credit i have left. Now, on the TP2 it is a very loud and intrusive noise that echos around my next to silent office. i cannot find out how to change the tone to something a little less annoying.
I dont mind if i can only use the TP2 istalled tones, i can find something suitable. But i just don't want to turn off ALL of my notifications, just their tone
Thanks for any help
TM411
Start->Settings->Sounds and Notifications
thanks for the speedy reply.
I did look there.
I can turn off notifications/ event etc, or i can change tones to most kinds of notifications, EXCEPT for the "phone" notification.
I have checked through each of the availiable settings to change to see if that makes a difference, and i still cannot find it
Thanks

Which rom do u use? Anyway go to settings, sound and notifications, and change ringtone for notifications. Maybe for some reason the ringtone file doesn't exist anymore.
And make shure to turn off all "do not disturb" modes.
