A new test ROM for the HTC Excalibur is available on xda-developers!
Rom Version: 1.11.405.4 (English)
Radio Version: 4.1.13.28_02.63.90
Bootloader: 1.11.0000 (Sep 12 2006 at 13:08:40)
You can find the ROM on XDA-Developers FTP:

For the curious out there, the ROM is shipped in NBH format so you can extract it if you want to look at the ROM components, the bootloader (SPL.nb 512K size!) has a lot of debugging information enabled as this is a Test release ROM.

EDIT: For those people having problem in updating to new Excalibur ROM due to Invalid Model ID error, that is due to bootloader version on Dash. You need to flash this bootloader first and then flash the Excalibur ROM. Also, this bootloader CAN be used for flashing new ROMs on pre-production Excalibur devices.
RUU_Excalibur_SPL-1.11_UpgradeOnly.exe contains bootloader version 1.11.0000 (Sep 26 2006 at 20:19:20).
PS: I don't own an Excalibur and I can't test it so I don't know what's on this ROM, if you try it please post details about it.

I just got my HTC S620 from Expansys TODAY, and you'll be surprised to hear that it is running the ROM posted in the first post of this message:

The phone is very stable and fast, with no issues at all. Very pleased with the OS (previous Windows phone was a slow Tmobile Vario). Plus the form-factor is superb....
I'll let you know if I run into any bugs. So far though (1/2 day of use), no issues....

How good is this ROM? Is just the basic S620 SW with some engineer plugins? How easy is it to upgrade the ROM? Ive never tinkered with upgrading on windows mobile phones.

I believe, since this ROM is from HTC, you are going to have to CID unlock your Dash in order for it to accept this ROM since it was designed specifically for the S620. Haven't seen that anyone has figured out a CID unlocking utility yet.

You can getit CID unlocked at imei check. It worked for my dash.
Wouldnt there be a keyboard difference? or will the keypad be the same with the unbranded ROM?
I have a SIM unlocked and CID unlocked Tmobile Dash. i went through imei.co.uk to unlock it. everything went fine with the unlocking process. I'm currently using the dash on cingular. I also get the ERROR[224] : INVALID MODEL ID when trying yo update to the testing rom.

I too went through IMEI.COM.UK to unlock my phone, it also stated that it would also CID unlock my phone as well.
As drunknmunkie did, I too moved my Dash to Cingular and I'm having the same ROM 'upgrade' issue as he has stated.

Guys, I can assure you that it's the latest official version downloaded for Dopod's Australian site.

By the way, this ROM upgrade is bringing no trouble in comparison to Cooked versions that I have already tried al of them.
HSPDA enabled, VoiP on, Video Call on, everything is running smoothly.
But, be sure that before proceeding with upgrade you, it's present latest HARD SPL -Des, etc. on you PPC.
Im using this rom too and it is indeed the official version, and works well! only thing i missing from WM5 is the Voice Call, where can i get that? Im using Jabra BT a lot and want the voice call or was it Voice dial?

i have the modified Dopod-ROM from crab http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/showthread.php?t=115290 installed.
Now i can not install the sdkcerts.cab.
The installation aborts with install unsuccessfull. No other error.
Have other People with original Dopod Rom the same problem?
Can somebody post me an export of HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies from a device that can install the sdkcerts?

I'd stick to v1.20, found here. Some have been having problems with v1.30 with radio flashing and some other things. Or just try with v1.30 first. Up to you.

Make sure you have the USPL loaded into your device (Thanks to jockyw2001) and flash right away the Radio Updater.
Download file, copy RUU_signed.nbh into any RUU pack then run RomUpdateUtility.exe.

This will only flash the Radio, you don't have to run any full rom upgrade after this if you plan to fix or change the Radio only.
well i tried every way i can think of to run this and while all flashes worked none of them gave me my wifi back. please provided step by step instructions on what exactly to do so that this might work

Are you trying to fix a broken wifi caused by the bad USPL loaded on another thread by juankinder? These Radio updaters won't fix that since the SPL was loaded directly into the memory and will not be solved by those ordinary updaters unless modified or hacked.

Yea i flashed my HTC ROM with the Rogers radio. Is there any benefit in doing this?
Better GSM signal or reception? Longer Wifi range? Better call sound quality? You might want to consider those improvements, i got problems before with the HTC WM6 Radio that i oftenly miss SMS, but after changing my Radio to Rogers WM6 and T-Mobile WM6, didn't encounter those anymore. i don't know, might be a different case from others.
Now what about the Rogers ROM, is that much better over the HTC ROM?

I am trying to flash the Rogers Radio but keep receiving the 270 Update Error: The image file is corrupted. Please check your Update Utility. Any ideas?

johnnylavah - Make sure you have loaded the USPL properly or else, you will still be getting that error everytime you flash edited/cooked NBH's.

da_mayhem, so you say that the rogers radio is better than the htc radio? you have noticed an increase in call quality,signal, etc..? I have the htc rom and radio version, which is better by far than tmobile rom... but if there is better then why not... question, could going to the rogers rom make thing worse? thanks!

my diamond has exactly the same rom/radio spec as carlosp_uk.
I received it yesterday and my first impression is that (speed-wise) it really SUCKS.
I was almost shocked when i first turned it on. my Kaiser (and even my Hermes) can easily outperform this horribly sluggish device.
I wanted to ask whether you're happy with the cooked rom you're using or whether you noticed any performance difference after flashing the custom rom.

Dont talk like that about the guy. He really can unlock the phones. Do not worry sooner or later you will receive your unlock code. It has been proven so many time about this guy unlocking all the htc devices via code. And yes he has done a great work for the diamond forum. all the stock roms in diffrent laguanges were needed and now we have it coz of him.
Time for my Diamond - 2nd hand one to go back to HTC to fix the yellow/orange spot issue. the CS Team are hard work but now collecting tomorrow. until then I've a Samsung c140 to contend with until returned.

1) Flash HardSPL
2) find the rom you want from the wiki
3) flash
If you return your phone with hardSPL on it your warranty will be voided, but you can downgrade to normal SPL.]

Back in the day when I got my Hermes I was like you. Then found this cool site maintained by Mr. Vanx: http://www.mrvanx.org/
In there you can read every single step needed to update your Hermes without destroying it in the process.
PD: Just a suggestion, try to update it to WM 6.1, it has a few minor but important updates, mainly threaded SMS and Office 2007.
Not all WM6.1 has these things. You need to read whats in the rom . The chefs are very good at keeping you informed of whats in their work.
Make sure you Hard SPL your phone 1st as you may well end up with a brick otherwise - I'm not saying you won't anyway but at least you have a chance of recovery.

The big question, why would you want to do that? There is a perfectly good WM6 DOPOD 838 pro ROM in the wiki? Or in my 4shared?
Edit: The ATT ROm does not have a video dialer as you know the 8525 does not have a front camera.
Hi guys, i will be needing some assistance to understand what is happening with my jasjar.
I download a tomal´s rom (tml wm65_90_23004_64mb)), followed the steps and got stucked on bootloader. I then used Uni exit bootloader. It worked, but now my jasjar only works if I don´t put any sim-card. Cause if I put one, it gets stuck again
Any ideas? i noticed in the device info that extrom is not there.

well try to upgrade your radio rom if gsm is not working (if sim is not recognized). flash with another rom if device gets stuck

well extrom is there but it is locked... you need to unlock to see it....

Hi Rajiv, thanks for answering. Well my simcards work properly as i have tested them in other devices.
I flashed the Universal with an original wm5 rom now and it works well. So any ideas on what happened?
I flashed with Tomal wm65 rom and it only works without any simcard, otherwise it gets stucked in that first imate image. If i remove the simcard it works fine. (The rom is very cool by the way).
So what is the problem here? maybe my jasjar isn´t CID unlocled? or HSPL?

had this issue myself and that was the fix. my radio was the original factory one. not sure what yours is though.

Well it starts the update normally, everything goes well. But its the same as before, it will only work properly without a simcard on

You need to upgrade your Radio ROM.
The one you have probably is not not compatible with WM6 and thats why your device hangs after installing WM6 with a SIM inserted.
The SIM upgrade is not included in the firmware upgrades you will find here. Look at the wiki for separate SIM upgrade files.

Problem solved :=) thanks everyone! I updated the radio rom to version 1.18 and it worked ehehe
Now another little problem
After installing tomal's 6.5 rom and updating the radio rom to 1.18, now i can´t instal programs like opera mini. Any ideas why? or the solution?

I have the same ROM and radio and I can install any app I want
Have you tried a hard reset?
Opera Mini is a Java application. You need to install a Java Virtual Machine to be able to install and run Opera Mini.
