8GB SDHC Cards Work w/Jam? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Accessories

I've read that the new 8GB SD cards use a specification called "SDHC" (a.k.a. SD 2.0) and are not compatible with mere SD slots. And I'm pretty sure the I-mate Jam's slot is merely SD. But never convinced 'til someone actually tries it...I'd love to know if anyone has actually *tried* an 8GB card (e.g., Pretec's) in a Jam?
(The 4GB Transcend SD card worked flawlessly in my Jam form the git-go , although I've seen plenty of posts and specs on the Web that said it wouldn't....)

havent tried..
but im betting a firm no..
anyone else with the dough to get a '8gb SDHC' for their jam?
Whitemoo.

Unfortunately, no.
As you can see below a standard SD device cannot read an SDHC card.

I tried an 8GB SDHC card with my magician with no success . The magician doesn't even recognise that there's a card in the slot.

SDHC cards dont work on Magician.
8GB SD cards dont work either.

The hardware is capable of SDHC, there just doesn't exist any SDHC drivers for WM2003se on PXA272.

Can you Try this?

Please someono that owns a 8GB card please test that out!

I got an 8 GB SDHC, but I don't have a Jam
Maybe I'll get one..
But I just would buy one if the 8gb SDHCs get recognized So I don't really want to own an Jam before someone tried it with success

with cotulla's 3.03 wwe rom sdhc should work without a problem

For the record i recieved an 8gb sdhc + adapter from sandisk,
it works!!!!

really? what driver did you use? what do you mean adapter? are you using a mini-SD/micro-sd?

1. Can't the picture in your post
2. If you didn't knew already, i have the same microsdhc card and 7588mb is normal.
3- @everyone thinking that sdhc cards don't work with sd slots:
the only difference between sdhc and sd is their filesystem:
sd has fat16, sdhc has fat32
Wheter a card is going to be dtected or not depends on the Softwware - for anyone who doesn't get it to work and has a wm6(.x) Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=344338&page=10

^^Cotulla's roms (later ones) support SDHC cards, so it should work fine.

There is always some risk when flashing a device, even when using an authentic rom, much less a hacked rom.
Risks should always be balanced with need and will to go forward.
To football and all those involved thanks for doing for us that which others should do by obligation.

is it REAL!?
Hi...
I have tried rom a17 wm5 for x51v from football man , and it works .... thanks football for this rom.
So I believe that the wm6 for x51v is real and it is a true project and it is not a fake.
I am waiting for this rom ....
oops, i am VERY sorry, i was just searching info for a friend, didn't know that.
Good luck then
it is strange, that manufacturer just forgot about its pionier on market....so good machine..

What's improvements are made in this wm5 rom as opposed to the wm5 roms supplied by Dell? Is there a readme or faq anywhere?
a request about SDHC support on WM6:
ASUS released a WM6 upgrade for P535 GPS-PHONE-PDA
it uses a core WM6, and an SDHC support with a SDHC_V5.CAB in the extended ROM. This cabinet file automatically installed from extended ROM, even after a hard-reset. So i suppose that, core WM6 ROM doesn't contain SDHC support (P535 uses mini-SD cards unlike Dell Axim x51v).
buggy ASUS files are: sdbus.dll, sdcard.dll, sdmemory.dll. if you delete them and Core wm6's dll files re-appears, than iGO works again !
iGO myway plus Navigator program doesn't work if you installed SDHC_V5.CAB
please check that if iGO is working or not if you try to add SDHC support with an un-official support like ASUS made
if you will use Microsoft made SDHC drivers, then iGO must release a compatible software.
SDHC support would be really nice to have...hopefully his build supports it.

I believe SDHC requires not just a compatible driver, but also compatible hardware. Dell Axim's do not have a type II SD slot (from what I understand), so even though the driver is there, the hardware will not be able to handle an SDHC card. However, it's great that the support will be there for hardware that is compatible!

You need first "XDANDROID.2.2.1.AOSP.FRX03.21.11.10.FULL_PACKAGE.zip", then update with the files from FRX04

Check my previous post.
Oh, and if you feel like helping devs and test camera: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924902
Has some changes not yet commited too, no stuttering while playing mp3 and no "waiting for sdcard" msg (though I never saw the last one)
I am getting a "kernel panic- not syncing: attempted to kill init!" message... am I the only one getting this message?
Has anyone experienced this and fixed it?
I followed the instructions on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIwIhu5B5LE exactly and I still get the problem. I've formatted to fat32, and I've also attempted the reformat and partitioning as well.
I have a class 2, class 4, and class 10 micro sd card, but I get the same problem. Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you,
lilhugo
Mine works (no camera, even after trying new libs). BT pairs and connects, but no reliable playback or calling.
Hey guys,
I've modified FRX04 quite a bit now using resources from the MIUI roms, I have even decompiled/modified and rebuilt a launcher to imitate MIUI's launcher. What do you think:

There are mixed opinions on the UI for MIUI, some like it and some don't and I happen to be one who does. Since we do not have an ARM7 device and MIUI is only for ARM7 devices I decided to be the first to create a launcher that imitate's their launcher.

when i use the FRX04 the phone needs a lot of time booting it... the sequence with the droids isn't stopping, i waited for about 20mins...
kind of a loop?!

I tried 3 class 6 cards: silicone, kingstone and transcend, and all of them didn't work.

[Q] Internal storage on tommytomatoes Classic Rom

I'd love to post directly to the thread in the developers section to ask this, but until then, can someone testing The Classic v0.0.9 let us know how internal storage is with the latest update?
I'm currently on Classic v0.0.6 with a substantial number of apps moved to SD card with Apps2SD Pro, and still only have about 47 mb of available space in Internal Storage. Just wondering if the latest version has more/less/or about the same amount of internal storage than v0.0.6?
Thanks

I'm running 0.0.9 and have a ton of free storage, however I'm using dta2sd on a partitioned SD card. I'm not familiar with apps2sd pro.
sent using a freaking pigeon, with a note tied to its leg.
Apps2SD Pro just moves part of the app. Data and cache still stay in the internal storage of the phone for the apps. If you use a lot of apps you may want to partitioned your sd card and flash dta2sd. This way the app and data will be moved to sd partition. You can even move the cache if needed. Hope that helps.
I wasn't familiar with dta2sd. Just read some posts stating that this rom already has it. Should I move the apps back to phone using Apps2SD, uninstall Apps2SD, then move to apps back again with dta2sd?

Is your sd card partitioned? If not you must do so to use dta2sd. Just make sure to backup all data from your sd card to your pc before doing so.
Sorry. I did mean to include in earlier post that my SD card is partitioned already. Thanks for all of the help.

Then all you need to do is go into terminal emulator. Type su. Then type a2sd reinstall. This will activate A2SD and move your apps and data to the sd partition. This is if the rom you have has a2sd baked in already. If not you will need to flash it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715938
Thanks, this worked for me as well!
I'm not sure if it's related, but after flashing DT a2sd, I was able to reinstall the google search box widget on Classic Rom. For some reason, I kept getting errors about a month or 2 ago. So I tried to uninstall/reinstall. For the past month or so, when tried to reinstall/download from Play, I kept getting error message.
Thanks again for this recommendation on a2sd.

This is by far the smallest internal storage usage I've had with any ROM. I also have my SD partitioned
and use ROM Toolbox's App2SD...
...and I know its off subject but I would like to share...

Cannot See External (Micro) SD Card

Hey guys,
Just got my new microSD card (64GB) and when I went to put it in the S3, it said that it was damaged and needed to be formatted. Formatting didn't work on the phone so I read up on the issue and someone suggested formatting it with EaseUS Partition tool. Did so ... formatted to FAT32. When I then insert into the phone, no issues ... or at least no warnings.
Put on a test video file and insert into the phone and use Root Explorer to go to external_sd in the root menu ... nothing shows up.
Any thoughts?
AOKP JB Milestone 1
I'm not completely sure about this but I think the 64gb cards need to be formatted as exFat, which I believe only stock touchwiz kernels support. So if I'm right you can't use it with an aokp or CM rom. Like I said though, I'm not totally sure about it.

Found a solution.
1. Download and install EaseUS Partition Master (http://www.partition-tool.com/download.htm). I used the Home Edition. One slight thing to note is that EaseUS asks you for a series of things to do to the SD card before it actually does them. So you tell it to delete a partition, create a partition, format it a specific way and THEN you apply all the actions and it runs it like a batch file.
2. Delete any existing partitions on the SD card.

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3. Create a partition
4. Create the partition as the Primary Partition and set the File System as FAT32
5. Apply the changes
6. Choose Yes
You should now be able to plug the MicroSD card into your S3 and have it recognized. If you are using Root Explorer, you can find your external SD card in the root menu under ... you guessed it ... external_sd.
Hope this helps. Cheers
Thanks for posting your solution! Definately good to know you can use the 64gb card this way. Could've sworn id seen folks say it had to be exFat, but I'm glad you put that rest for me!
Just to be sure though, you can see the full available storage correctly?
Thanks again and glad you got it figured out. :thumbup:

Yes, I can see the full available storage capacity. It currently shows as 249.88MB used (2 video files) and 59.22GB free. The missing space is normal due to the drive manufacturers claiming larger capacities than is actually usable.
Not to thread jack or anything, I figured it was relevant to the topic instead of making a new one. I'm having the same exact issue, except my card isn't 64gb its only 4gb. I formatted to fat32 and the phone acts like it wants to load, but Doesn't do anything.

Try this http://www.easeus.com/partition-manager/ its free and format it it to fat32 make sure its a primary partition and that its active
Try it with another ROM, just to test.
Make backup before of all with TWRP.
If you have the same problem, probably the vendor is not compatible in cert way with P6, try to return the SDCARD to seller and explain the sittuation, maybe they change your card to another.
If the problem persists, maybe is a problem in your phone, and that need to been talked with Huawei.
Hope this helps somehow, sorry about bad english
