Interesting Discussion there in the WLAN Topic Sounds so familiar ^^
I really Hope that T-Mobile did not order a device that is built by their individual wishes and has WLAN disabled by hardware. I don't Know how much T-Mobile Netherlands and T-Mobile Germany cooperate, regarding their "Buying Management" Maybe the Fact that NL Artemis comes with WLAN is sign enough

Not even with Totalcommander?

I am using Resco Explorer 5.35. So you think Total Commander will succed ?

edited....

Didn't work for me. Total Commander worked originally but now I can't see any files in there even though if I try to replace them it says it can't overwrite them.

... did you perform a softreset after installation?

Of course I reset

Probably a stupid question, did you switch it Off before you soft reset? - Mike

nope still on
I think somehow my extended rom is screwed anyway

... experienced the same problem. However, found a temporal solution by trying to format the Extended_ROM2 storage. Although the formatting does not work (i.e. an error message "Can't format selected storage card. Check if your card is unlocked" appears), the files in Extended_ROM are back after this unsuccessful action until a next soft reset; then the files disappear again. I reckon it could be another way of Extended_ROM unlocking protection. (???)

Hi, it´s now possible to unlock the Extended Rom? I Can see the Exteded Rom but its lock, i can´t format the storage.
I have find a Registry Key that don´t was in the HTC Prophet, you can found it in HKLM/Drivers/BuiltIn/TrueFFS1/ here is now a nex key SoftwareWriteProtect. I have change it to 0 but the Extended Rom stay locked, who can help? I need the extra Storage, please

When you unlock ext rom, basically you change security on partition.
On compact III this leads to some files to be deleted from ext rom.
Be carefull with this.
regards,

Hello guys,
I have a HTC P3300 (Artemis) and yesterday executed the program refered in this thread to unlock the extended ROM.
I was able to saw the Extended ROM and I did a copy of all files to my PC, but 5 minuts later I cant see anything in the extended ROM.
All files disapeared. there is nothing in the extended.
I did a soft reset and a Hard Reset (error!!) and obviusly the Artemis doen't load the extended ROM files because they have dissapeared.
I tryed to copy the extended ROM files from my computer to te extended Rom again but it seems to be writting protected.
Someone can Help Me?
The files in my Extended ROM (Spanish version) were:
ChgScutAttri.exe
Config.txt
MP_CVSDcpl_20060718.cab
MP_TT6_Voice10_ESN.cab
MP_ttn.cab
PP_DefaultPage_WWE.CAB
PP_ExtVer.xml
PP_RemoveBTlnk.cab
ST_PatchPeripheral.cab
and the Config.txt content is:
LOCK:Enabled
EXEC:\Windows\cusTSK.exe \Windows\HTC_Default.tsk
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MP_CVSDcpl_20060718.cab
XML: \Windows\MP_MMS3.5_HTC_Generic_Artemis_060818.xml
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_DefaultPage_WWE.CAB
XML: \Extended_ROM\PP_ExtVer.xml
CAB: \Windows\PP_CommManager_Patch_060808.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MP_ttn.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\PP_RemoveBTlnk.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\ST_PatchPeripheral.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\MP_TT6_Voice10_ESN.cab
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\ChgScutAttri.exe
LOCKisabled
RST: Reset
I have copied all the files to a temporary directory in the PDA and tried to execute all of them in the order of the config.txt file, but I can't execute the XLM files. When I execute them they open in the Pocket InternetExplorer and seems to be changes to introduce in the registry.
This is the content of the PP_ExtVer.xml (for example):
<wap-provisioningdoc>
<characteristic type="Registry">
<characteristic type="HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM" translation="filesystem" >
<parm name="ExtROMVersion" datatype="string" value="1.12.412.101" translation="filesystem" />
</characteristic>
</characteristic>
</wap-provisioningdoc>
Can someone help me to execute this two XML files to do that xhanges in my registry?
Can someone help me to put back to the original situation the Extended ROM?
Thank you!!!

Hi Stoper,
It seems that we all have the same problem.... :-(

Beware!!! Extrom Gets Deleted!!!
I really am sorry putting you through all this trouble due to this unlocker!!!
The only way i found to rectify this problem is to reflash an original rom, e.g. from the wiki here. if you get "wrong model id" than you are not flashing the same rom as before.(e.g. orig german now english language)
remedy would be to cid-unlock your phone and than be able to flash mentioned roms.

How can we cid-unlock our roms?

Has the XDA2i Extended Rom Been Exposed Yet?

Has any one managed to expose the extended rom on the XDA2i for custom instalation on boot.
Also Vodafone Instalation cab works fine on XDA2i with all functions working.
I'm trying to do the same thing - has anyone managed to expose the extended rom on the XDA2i?
It was dumped a long time ago. The 3900 build of Bluetooth drivers comes from there.
Qtek 2020i problem
hi mamaich
I have bought Qtek 2020i before 2 days, can you please direct me how to unlock my extended rom? I will be very thankful to you if you help me in this issue
note: I tried the extended rom unlocker that was prepared for Himalaya and the one for Blueangel too and didn't show even my extended rom folder after soft reseting.
Re: Qtek 2020i problem
I don' have 2020i, so I cannot help with extrom unlocking.
Is there an Extended Rom Unlock Utility for the 2i?
We are desparately in need of a way to unlock the extended ROM of the XDA2i. The reason for this is that our application--for whatever reason--is not compatible with the 3900 bluetooth build, but IS compatible with earlier builds such as that found on the XDA2s.
If it is true that the ROM has been unlocked to gain the 3900 bluetooth build--then can someone please post a link to the way in which this was done and any utilities or software used to do it?!
Re: Is there an Extended Rom Unlock Utility for the 2i?
You can manually edit extended ROM image (NBF file) with extended ROM editor tool (I'don't remember its exact name, look into WiKi), delete CAB file and reflash. But I don't think that downgrading to build 3501 would help. You'd better fix your app.
I've tried this, used ER2003Edit_1_4_26. I have the nbf but it is telling me I can't open them because the password is incorrect. I have looked around quite a bit for a solution but have found none.
Is there a password which will allow one to gain entry to (ie edit and repackage) such that I can truly update the extended ROM of an XDA2i?
ERROR, ERROR ERROR
Sorry for my english
Since April i search a way to edit ExtRom on Qtek 2020i, but it seems that is to complicate for developers.
Status at this day
1) You can see extrom and by this way copy and save cab on other place. To do that you must reset just after steep 1 of hard reset and use your explorer. Other way, with your explorer, go to windows folder and simply run LoadVDisk.exe
2) You can't write into ExtRom
3) You can't edit rom with actuals tools (ER Edit, Dump ....). Passwords is unknow and i think memory adresses are differents
4) Also If you can't write in your Storage, because looked after used differents tools proposed by many peoples who know, to unlock your Extrom, flashing rom do not return Storage in normal status. It's my case and somebody with apparent good intention, but totaly incompetent, can you push to make an fatal error, thank's to all.
I'm am ungry when i read some absurbity (exemple in this forum). When we don't know, we must no speak
so is it impossible now to get the Srorage folder as before, I have this problem now in my 2020i, I cannot write into Storage HELPPPPPPPPP
It's exactly tha i said
DON'T USE FOR MOMENT ANY EXISTANT TOOLS TO UNLOK QTEK 2020I
Any progress in unlocking the extended ROM on XDA 2i anyone?
if somebody can povide me with valid source code I may try converting it for xdaIIi, I have one source now but missing some header files which I couldnt find like Pwinuser.h
I have free time these days, and I am sure that we have many good people here but maybe we need more effort, so let us share our experience on what we found so far, and try to solve this problem ASAP, what makes me more angrey these days is the Storage which also cannot be unlocked back...
so common guys, let's rock it out!
Hi
About storage i have unlocked mine. This lock Storage was appear after trying to unlock Extrom. Pls read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=23154&highlight=
For me Storage locked is finish with this simple action.
For Extrom what header do you need ?
I put here registry and files extract from 2020i about Extrom that is nammed VDISK and use VDISK.dll. We can see ExtRom without reset to run LoadVdisk.lnk or .exe directly
I have also original installation of French ROM 1.11.02, Extended 1.11.115 and Radio 1.02 FRE.
Thank's for your support
I need the C header file not the registry information, read my reply to your post about the Storage, I explained there how does these things work out, at least for the 2020i a far as I could find out, if there is anyone on this forum who can add something or correct me, that would be nice, because we want all to work together to solve this problem ASAP.
I am now trying to find out the functions indside the dll file and find out how do they work, then I will try the password that is provided in this forum to unlock the extended rom. what happens to the Storage is that the old program has 2 parts: lock and unlock, when we tried to unlock, nothing happened because the password and device type was wrong, and when we tried to lock, the code didnt check the device name niether the password and directly locked the diskonchip drive which is in our case the Storage folder. I read the source code and this is what I understood, so I am trying to modify it to unlock one of these folders, and since it was not put completely on the FTP (missing header files) I couldnt compile the code!
EMU, i write respons about Storage in http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=23154&highlight=
Let me know if it's ok for you
Désolate for header file, i don't have it
I have an XDA2i. Is there any way I can provide the header files you're talking about? If so, please provide detailed instructions for how I would do it.
Hi Guys,
there is already a new version of ER2003Edit (not published yet!!!) which can open .nbf files of Qtek 2020i. The only problem is with checksum calculation. I am using Itsme's Perl script, but it has a problem calculating the checksum and he didn't have time to fix it yet.

EXTENDED ROM

Hello ...
I try to unhide my EXTENDED ROM and DEL ol of file inside ... but when I make Hard reset why... the extended ROM file is still there ??? and they install it self...
my question is how to DEL pemanently ....
i like to install that file manualy.. so.. I can Custom install ...
thanks in advanced ...
What I do is Unlock the Ext ROM using Buzz app, then use Total Commander to cut and paste it to my SD card. After a hard reset, I now have a blank Ext ROM.
hi guys
i have unlocked the extended rom with the tool from buz, but if i want delete some files wicht are in the /windows folder (for example: 15fps-nature-mpg) ist a testmovie from t-mobile. i get an error message with resco, total commander and other filemanagers. The message says: "files in the can not deleted"
if i change the properties of the files and uncheck ROM and press ok. After testing it, the ROM is checked again.
i search the forum but i found no solution for this problem. can anyone help me?
thx
BTW: Great Forum, GO ON
you can't delete files in the /windows folder because these files are in ROM. You are able to "overwrite" the files with other files e.g. the bitmaps of the phone skin, but if you delete your own files the original files will reappear!
for the first question:
you have to do two things, first make the extended rom visible, then do the unlock.
a all in one solution is the attached cab file! All you have to do after installation is start the unlocker tool under programs.
hi calvin,
my extended rom is visible and i can delete the cab files in this "folder" how can i unlock it?
if i try to overwrite a file in the /windows folder i get an error which says the file is write protected. but i cant uncheck the write protect option.
i testet it with the 1-nature_15fps.mp4 file in the winodws folder.
i cant install the attached file from you.
copy 2 files to SD Card and tap to run then SR. You can see and edit ext rom now
hi boongdang,
sorry but it doesnt work, i can edit the folder called extendedROM but not the files in the /windows dir wich are in the ROM
but thx for your try.
"overwriting" in windows folder does not work with all explorers. Try it over active sync or with total commander ( I use total commander)
In my mda-pro I use only Unhide_UNI_Extended_ROM,soft reset and ext rom is visible with all explorers.
I replace some original cabs with my cabs(resco, tcpmp, tomtom),but when I hard reset the device, original cabs start,my only manually.
Is there a trick to make my cabs work automatically like original after hard reset?

WM6 And 3 Australia

Hi All,
I have a Dopod D810 and i upgraded the firware but now cannot use any feature as i need the three add ons.
Does anyone know how to extract these from older roms or anything.
Thanking You
Maybe you can try...
Go to http://www.dopodasia.com/Dopod_Aus/member/login.aspx
login or register if you're not already registered. Click "Download System Update" and download "D810 ROM code for Hutchison 3 network". Re-install that rom and you get your 3 stuff back.
This is a non-GPS rom though so if you've updated your rom to activate GPS then you will lose that when you install this rom. I don't know how you can activate GPS and keep the official rom installed at the same time.
No guarantees, just throwing ideas
APPARENTLY IT WILL BE RELEASED this week the oficial dopod Australia WM6 ROM.
Is it easy to make a cab file with the three settings so we can continually update roms etc and easily get our settings back?
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction of how to do this?
thanks
Scott
The Three applications and settings are stored on your devices extended rom - see this post for an extended rom unlocker http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=283750 Easiest way to preserve them is to copy them to your storage card and then reinstall them after you have applied the new rom update. Note that you will need to reapply them after every hard reset. I apply them in the order listed in config.txt which is found in the extended ROM partition.

So after having the same problem with the 3 MMS / Internet & Email (aca Planet 3 setting), I decided to go for a google to see if I could find some answers ...?
I have come across this forum which helped me re-configure the settings back to the originals from 3, and now everything planet 3 related works again.
Here is the link to the 3 MMS/Internet/Email Settings;

Hope this helps those wishing to upgrade there "Dopod D810/Trinity 100/HTC p3600", to the various WM6 ROM's.
I would like to say a big "THANK YOU" to the guys who have helped us break free from the Telco's chains, by doing what the do best.... " Hacking " .
Good luck.
for those who wants to wait for an official upgrade dopod promises they will provide D180 upgrade to WM6 on July. as per http://www.intomobile.com/2007/05/0...ounces-windows-mobile-6-upgrade-strategy.html
i dont trust them- back in march it was only meant to be 2wks away!!!
I am installing munru or lsvw this weekend- i think i will try a week or 2 of each and decide which i like best....
Voicemail?
Does anyone get their voicemail messages via email?
Has anyone had a problem with the name of the voicemail message attachment being something like "LogicaCMG Voicemail Message (1.1) (xx secs)" which then prevents them from directly playing the attachment (which is really just a wav file)?
Has anyone found a way to get around this, apart from doing a "Save As"?

Just wanted to bump this as this is the most annoying thing that I have found since switching from a nokia to WM6 device (O2 XDA Zinc). I assume it is to do with the way that the mobile identifies itself to the server as I find that webmail shows the attachment as "message.wav" but if I go to webmail after the phone has downloaded the message, the file is attachment.dat.

[ROM Building] Hermes Kitchen v1.0 - 18 August 2007

I have learnt so much from this site that I want to give back what I've learnt to the community.
I have put together the tools made by the brilliant minds here, I won't name all cause there are just too many. This is a Kitchen that I put together on how I would take apart a ROM and then fiddle around with it and then put it back to flash to my device. Its nothing brilliant, but it does the job just alright.
Thank you to bepe, core kitchen, CUSTEL for teaching me, Olipro, and a lot more i can't think of at the moment.
http://rapidshare.com/files/49695507/Hermes_Kitchen_v1.0.exe.html
Here is what's in the .exe file:
1.0 .nbh to .nb
2.0 Dump .nb
3.0 Packaging Dumped .nb
4.0 Extracting XIP from .nb
5.0 BuildOS and CreateROM
5.1 Edit initflashfiles.dat
6.0 Build Ext_Rom
7.0 Splashscreen viewer
8.0 .nb to RUU_signed.nbh
9.0 RUUWrapper v7
Tools
I've used this technique to take apart ROMs from Schaps, Sleuth, Faria, Custel, Dutty and more. Black version 3.0 and below can be used. But for higher black versions, JJ deletes the .rgus and therefore its difficult to rebuild with the missing .rgus. I don't blame JJ cause he works really hard on His BlACK Roms and someone comes and takes it apart and edits it and puts it up as his own. But all the chefs have worked endless hours and continue to work on them. So with this tool, maybe you guys can stop asking for so much from the chefs and do it yourselves...
Just try this out. Its nice. There is a step by step also with pictures.
Take care.

Did you read the .doc file? Just change the whole file name from Windows.nb or OS.nb to nk.nba. First you have to set to show file extensions on your windows explorer.
Good. work.
Can you adapt for trinity?
I think you just have to change the utility for flash.
I am sorry man. I have no idea how the trinity works. I dont have one. I just have a hermes. Hoping to get a kaiser soon. If it ever gets launched!
Is there anyway (i know there is, i have done it!) you can get your bat files to delete the temp/un-needed files, im running throught your kitchen now, it seems pretty good, apate from the fact that there is loads of temp files and directories.
yor bat files can be set so that when they finish the operation, they delete what the user dont need
(i can do this but it is your kitchen, so i posted to see if you would do it!)
also when you say to run the package tool, and replace and missing files, i have just dumped a ROM and i am missing:
[Missing Files]
SYS\AUTOUPDATE
MODULE: autoupdate.exe
MODULE: autoupdatecpl.cpl
SYS\SQM
MODULE: sqmce.dll
MODULE: sqmconn.dll
MODULE: sqmdata.dll
MODULE: sqmevent.exe
MODULE: sqmsvc.dll
MODULE: uptimesqm.exe
OEM\OEMOPERATORS
File: Dopod_Black.tsk
File: P_Sound_Dopod_WWE_0713.CAB
File: PreConfig.txt
SYS\Autoupdate_Lang_0409
MODULE: AutoUpdateRes_wpc.exe.0409.mui
OEM\OEMAPPS
File: ClearVue PDF.lnk
File: WTCVPDFV.exe
File: WTCVPDFV.htm
File: WTCVTime.dll
File: WTPDFRdr.dll
where can i find these files?
bennec83
p.s. using NBHExtract to dump the nbh is much faster than the method you have here (im just thinking coz u said you have a really slow laptop!)
The missing files usually would be next to the OEM and SYS folder when you use the PKGtool. Also, i have no idea how to make the .bat file. If you know, you can do it for me and maybe i can include it? Cause this is how i do it. And i took this all from tools i found all over the whole XDA-dev site. I'm no genius in this programming scene. Just know enough to get by.

ill make new or edit the ones you have that way ther is not so much un-needed files left over. i will also send you a replacement for your first folder, it is much faster, also i may have an improvement for the dump step too.
ill PM my things to you as i make them and you can see if they meet your requirements.

Hey bro, I dont get what you mean?
I have the folder in there. And i have an example of all the stuff thats in the extended ROM. If i'm not mistaken, type this in the config.txt or preconfig.txt depending which you are using.
EXEC:\Windows\cusTSK.exe \Windows\bennec83.tsk
CAB: \Extended_ROM\bennec83.CAB
Remember to save it as read only. All files in the extended ROM beforeusing the HTC Extended ROM.exe must be READONLY!...
The file you sent to me is good. But dutty's way is fine and its not a matter of fast or not. Its a matter of user friendly. Your way, aka pof's tool is good. I've used it before. But then have to explain to some noobs how to drag and drop the file onto the DRAG HERE.bat... get what i mean? Thanx again.
Any other way to improve this? I am trying to make it as fool-proof as possible.

Thanks for the EXTROM stuff, the config.txt and perconfig.txt actually go into the extrom dont they? whats the difference between the 2?
(Change the name from "Drag Here" To "Click Here" and it is friendlier as you have to load no software, jus put the nub into the same folder and click! )
Okay bro.
So, config.txt in OEM/OEMAPPS is for you to execute whatever you want without an Extended_ROM. You must have Config.txt and AutoRun.exe in the same folder. Some ppl don't like it this way. As it wastes precious space. So they use a different method. They use the Extended_ROM to store their stuff and settings and then while rebooting from a HR, they tap into the Extended ROM and get the stuff.
So for extended ROM, you need the 2 files, PreAutorun.exe and Preconfig.txt. The exe file is to run the preconfig.txt. So in the Preconfig.txt, lets say for example there is this in there:
SHOW:\Extended_ROM\MSFT_Logo.bmp
LOCK:Enabled
;EXEC:\Windows\cusTSK.exe \Windows\Black Vista.tsk
EXEC:\Windows\SetHSDPA.exe /Enable
XML: \Windows\Settings.xml
Hide:Enabled
EXEC:\Extended_ROM\AutoRun.exe
LOCKisabled
RST: Reset
So what this does is executes the HSDPA settings, and an .xml file which has some tweaks like the GLYPH and Page settings ****. And then it executes the AutoRUN.exe in the ExtendedROM. So now in your extended ROM, you should have the config.txt and AutoRUN. Autorun points to config.txt and PreAutorun.exe points to Preconfig.txt. So now in your Config.txt which is in your extended ROM might look sometihng like this:
SHOW:\Extended_ROM\MSFT_Logo.bmp
LOCK:Enabled
CAB: \Extended_ROM\ITS1027_FixActivesyncWlan.CAB
CAB: \Extended_ROM\1 Signed_Dpdcert_222.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\2 05_NetWiz-ExtUp-V12b.cab
;CAB: \Extended_ROM\3 RescoExplorerEn_p.ARM.CAB
;CAB: \Extended_ROM\4 FtpAddinEn_p.ARM.CAB
;CAB: \Extended_ROM\5 RegistryEn_p.ARM.CAB
;CAB: \Extended_ROM\6 Levels.cab
;CAB: \Extended_ROM\7 enAlarmPPC v3.3.1.CAB
;CAB: \Extended_ROM\8 UTAv3.cab
CAB: \Extended_ROM\9 WM6_Sound_Scheme.CAB
LOCKisabled
RST: Reset
I hope this helps, Take care.

Hi bern,
congrats on your rom building package.
in regards to the rgu's i delete them to save around 1.5mb of storage space. if someone wants them a PM is all they need to do, no one has asked so far.
Ooo.. i didn't know that. I thought you actually needed them to get the ROM running. Sorry dude. But then again when you hit buildOS and CreateROm, i think after that, you can delete all the .rgus right? Not sure tho... anyway... Will keep that in mind the next time i wanna take your ROM apart and edit it. I stopped using your ROM at Black v2.5 (Which to me was by far the best).
Take care JJ,
We miss you around here. Got your imate yet? or your Kaiser?

i don't know if this will help you: what I do is have one config.txt in \windows cooked in ROM that looks like:
LOCK:Enabled
CFG: \Extended_ROM\Config.txt
LOCKisabled
RST: Reset
and than the second config.txt in ExtROM which is similar to the above (does all the customisations, settings and progs, etc)
In fact if u look in \windows for mxipupdate_zzPIED_101.provxml it should be pretty self explanatory how the process is triggered. All actions & names of .txt's are defined there.
In my case see enclosed.
hope it is useful for u,
cheers dan

[help] make extrom autorun into autorun(in SDcard)

i just thinking of this...so is that possible,
if yes, how to change the path
any example...
thx
I agreed that Someone help
Not sure what you're asking: are you asking if the entire extended rom can be kept in a folder on the SD card (presumably in order to big-storage your rom bt retain the advantages of having some things install from ext rom?) or are you asking whether the extended rom can include items from the sd card on its config.txt list?
As far as having the entire extended rom on the card I don't think so (this is something that was done for earlier WM2003se HTC devices to make them accept WM5 when that was the latest and greatest).
However, if all you want is to have some things placed there to be run then you could just using a preconfig instead of ext rom and edit the preconfig.txt to point to items such as cabs or xml files on the sd card instead.
The only thing likely to cause you problems is if items are called to be run/installed before the drivers for the sd card are loaded into memory by windows in the bootup process.
I guess what he means, is, to make the 'autorun.exe' working from an SD Card folder rather than from Extended_Rom partition ... !?!?
You would have to write your own 'autorun.exe' in order to do so!
@junner2003:
yes that exactly what i mean,
coz i don't think making those commercial soft into package is a wise plan...
coz recently i become addicted to flashing rom...
but every time i have to install all apps...this consuming much of time
so i think is there are any way to batch install cab in one click.
i think autorun.exe can help me to do so but i dunno how to edit config.txt to install software from SD card
as far as i know you'd have to cook your own rom and have a preconfig.txt in it with
EXEC:\Storage_Card\autorun.exe
in it (or change to whatever directory you want)
You can go the looong way and unpack the cab's of the applications you want to have in 1 mega pack, then repack all of them in 1 mega cab file! Unfortunately this requires a little bit knowledge but that way you would have 1-for-all installer cab file instead of a cab for each application you want to install. I am not sure if that would be worth it!
You should maybe not flash too much and always set up your whole device! Flash and see what ROM fits you best, then stick with it and set up your device with all that other stuff you want to have on there!
However, if you have a little bit programming knowledge: get you BASIC4PPC, it can help you to automate some tasks!
Hope that helps!
Guys,
Here is an example of my config.txt on Extended_ROM
Basicly what is happening here is placing all the shortcuts at the right place, make registry entries&tweaks, install additional apps, plus put registry for all the applications I have preinstalled in Extended_ROM or Storage Card (about 20 of them).
Normally I can flash & test any ROM as long as it has Extended_ROM enabled and not overwritten (like big storage) without any hassle. After flash and autoconfig run I have a ready to use phone as I want. If else I have to strip the ROM and enable Extended_ROM, but I tend to use official releases and not cooked ones.

@Dan1967:
many thx~~! thats almost the things i want
of coz if possible i'd like to put all into ext rom
ya know ...commercial app size is just....big
e.g. ocket+ 4.0 and inesoft 2.0 cost over 6MB altogather
its impossible to put all into ext rom space
so i just think of this method..and it seems works~ yeah
but another question
1. how the CPY function works??
2. how to include serial number of some soft.
xml stuff...i dunno how to makt this...forget it then...lol
extended rom
under deviceid..i have extended rom version: 3.54.255.104..what does this mean and do you really need it?
berwick: a bit of warning - it is not easy! It took me more than 4 months to reach the stage I am now in and I am no specialist.
Extended_ROM size is almost 10MB, so your need of 6MB leaves some room..
To pre-install the progs in there you need to split the application in files (or take the files after the installation), copy them on Extended_ROM, than change the registry & shortcuts to point to new location. All you have to do than create a small cab with new registries and shortcuts that is installed during autoconfig phase.
It may also not work easy or at all as I found out with some apps.
If you can not succed than you can install them during autoconfig phase, but only if the app does not have a dialog during installation.
CPY works as seen in my file: CPY1 defines the source file and CPY2 is the new location&name. In my case I restore contacts from storage card backup to PPC root.
XML's can be replaced by cabs, but XML in this case is a personal preference.
Regarding the serial thing I can not help you unfortunately.
cheers,
dan
Great source of info
Hey guys. Just wondering, but did you check out this link?
