GPS Software Bundled? - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Just been on the phone to 02 Customer Service, who have quoted me 99.99 GBP for the handset only. Apparently their is no option to have it bundled with any GPS software!
Has anybody else had a different answer in terms of bundled gps software with customer support?
TIA

At an o2 shop they told me that it would be the followin:-
02400 - free phone & £50 for gps bundle
02MAX - both free
If you are upgrading then over the phone cust service wont decrease the price/bundle price if you increase your tariff and only go from last six months spend
If you go in store they will decrease price if you agree to increase tariff for min six months.
Hope this helps - go instore

Where's the best place to buy XDA IIs from UK?

Cheapest so far:
£169.99
+ £30.99 per mnth for 200mins
http://www.e2save.com/mobile/phones/disphandset.php?network=O2&handset=XDA2S
I doubt you'll find it much cheaper than that. I got mine for £9.99 on an O2 Max plan, but now the lowest price for the handset on that tariff is about £50.
I've also heard through the rumour mill that stock of the XDA IIs is about to become a bit thin on the ground soon owing to supply/demand issues; HTC can't seem to make these devices fast enough to satisfy the carriers... just look at the debacle that is happening with Orange and the M2000.
Besides - do you want to spend all your time trawling for a slightly better deal, or do you want to actually be using and XDA IIs in the near future?
From T-mobile as an MDA III
£295 + £15 a month
If it's the MDA III, then the best price ATM seems to be via the following
http://www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk/ourdeals.php?PROV=121&OFF=1MDA3&TAR=RELAX22
Assuming 'Guest' doesn't want to spend much more than £30/month on his tariff, the best deal is for Relax 200 on a 12-month contract, being £32/month (with half-price line rental for the first 3 months)
Selecting this, the cost of the MDA III is only £59.99. If 'Guest' opted for an 18-month contract, the handset would be £24.99, and if they don't mind paying £51/month for 400 x-net minutes, they wouldn't have to pay a penny for the handset at all.
Naturally, all this is assuming that 'Guest' would be happy on T-Mobile as opposed to O2
A bit late... but I picked up my MDA III for £140 plus £13p/m (for 12 months) rising to £26 (for the last 6 of the contract) yesterday. Shame that there doesn't seem to be any way with T-Mobile of buying bundled GPRS on contract.
Considering that the O2 shop next door wanted £249 for the XDA IIs and £30p/m for 12 months, it seemed a pretty good deal frankly.
I should make the purchase cost back selling my Nokia 6600 on once it's unlocked, fingers crossed.
Fwiw, I got mine from Uplands a couple of months ago at £125 & £35/mth, but I do use a fair few minutes each month and this worked out the most cost effective.
Not wanting to sound like a ringer, I got great customer service (next day delivery after faxing some docs) and friendly, personal attention.
</plug!>
Got mine from Uplands as well; I tried to place an order with The Link early in the new year (seeing as the handset was going for nowt on O2 Max) but they were out of stock. Uplands was the next best thing at £9.99 and I got the handest early the next day; no complaints there so I'll no doubt go back to them come August when I can port across my other Orange number...
I told O2 I was moving to Orange (on £25 a month O2 100 online contract) as Orange had offered me an MPV2000 for free and O2 said they would matchit!!! XDAIIs FOC - Result
I got mine from The Link - they knocked 200 quid off the price of the handset, so it ended up cost £40 for the handset, plus £30 a month on the o2 200 package.
I don't know why they knocked so much off - no-one else had stock, and now they can't get stock themselves.
I got mine from the Link just before Xmas. 150 pounds plus 30 pounds a month for 300 any minutes (double mins for first 3 months)
Got mine last sat 29th in the link on o2 max, it cost me nothing but the line rental is £75 per month.
(hope to have cheaper bills now as i was having £150 bills on xnet 400 through singlepoint!)
www.buymobilephones.net has it quite cheap
My M2000 was £0.00 with £0.00 line rental!
Gotta have some perks of working for the company!
Just got mine for £180 on £16/month line. Prices gone down to £99 on £25 line rental and above from 02 shop
I paid £180 with £20 line rental from 02 shop not too long ago...
By far the best deal I could find.
Bought one from O2 Shop. Since I've already monthly contract somewhere else, I opted for the Data only package. It was £9 a month, and the Handset costed £200-ish.

O2 Exec for £139.99 any tariff!?!

I have just been on the O2 website (www.o2.co.uk) and the O2 exec is on there for £139.99. Out of curiosity, I selected the phone and chose the lowest tariff (online 50, 12 months £19.00).
Sure enough, at the checkout, the phone was still £139.99!
Is this right anyone? I had a look on the carphone warehouse site and for the same phone on the same tariff, we are talking nearly £400!
I paid double that for the XDA11s less than 12 months ago on the anytime 200!
This means that if you bought the phone, paid £19.00 per month for 12 months and used your existing sim card, the total cost of the phone would be £367.99!
Buy one quickly before they realize
It must be a mistake :!:
Yep, I bought mine yesterday and true enuf, the phone was £139.99. I chose to go for the 200 mins/750 texts bundle cuz I know I'm gonna use it all...
I also paid for next bloody day delivery (to be delivered before 12 today). I tried using the tracking numbers (yes, numbers. O2 Didn't even know what the second one was for...!) on the DHL site but they weren't recognised... A phone call to DHL later and the woman on the end said... "Oh, it's been sent to the Birmingham sorting office and not Milton Keynes. You won't get it 'til Monday now."
FFS
Thankfully O2 have refunded my delivery charge. Not the point tho, I wanted play play.
It's no mistake! Mine turned up this morning! Get them while they're hot!
Bloody hell! looks like its upgrade time
looks like its 139.99 if you sign up for the 18 MONTH contract.
i have a staff account, so ill wait til i can upgrade, and get it cheaper!! 8)
I selected 12 months contract and it was the same price
I'm thinking about getting the xda exec but I want to see pictures of people using it so I can see approximately how big it is, it might be too big for me to handle.

It is probably close to a wholesale price for O2
and they want to increase the number of subscribers by
all means to look good for the shareholders
at the end of this year.
Tells you a story what a ripoff
are the companies like T-Mob, who had increased
(!) the price of MDA Pro to 900 euro from 750 euro last week, for those
who don't want a subscription.

Yes it is still available for the same price. I also thought it was a mistake.
I called online sales to order and i was told it was only available with the 35 pound 3G tarrif. So i ordered online for the 139 ponds with the 19 pound Online 50 12 Month Tarrif and recieved it next day. I told my friend and he got his this morning but the screen was cracked so a replacement is on its way.
Your free minutes can be used with Voice or Video Calls and after the free stuff video calls are the same rate as voice calls.
It is 10mm wider than the XDAII and a few mill thicker but it does feal resonable but i have big hands. But i really love the keypad and i can thumb type as fast as i can type on a normal keyboard.
The voice dialing over blutooth works great so in most case there no need to even remove it from my pocket when making and recieving calls.
And not simlocked either
Got mine yesterday for 149 in the O2 shop with a 200 tariff doubled for six months - great bit of kit but still getting used to it, at the price I cannot understand what they are doing, the IIs is a good unit (and I will continue to use it) but the Exec far out shines the capability of the less equipped devices - Mike

What price are O2 UK selling the orbit for?

Anyone know what the instore price is for a "25 pm tarrif?
I called O2 today and to upgrade my exec on a £25 tarrif they wanted £259 pounds. Nearly fell off my chair laughing, PAC code on its way to me hello vodaphone
i just upgraded to 02 orbit for free!
I just upgraded to o2 200 £30.00 / month ( same as I've been on for ages ) - phone cost £99.99.
I think if i'd gone for £35.00 / month the cost drops to £49.99
Best deal on t-mobile (who needs wifi)
I went for an MDA Compact III (I dont use wi-fi).... I got it on 18month contract UFIX for £15 a month (this is the UFIX) then £7 a month bolt on for web and walk (unlimited connection).... The t-mobile web site is in fact more expensive than the shops... I went into my local t-mobile shop and picked up two with my girlfriend... the guy said they usually would be £40 for the phone but we could have them for £20 each... so a 18 month contract for 22.00 a month and £20 for the phone which we both thought was an excellent deal!... the boxes were unsealed (but) the phones were intact and not touched just shown to customers... there is quite a few t-mobile shops with ones opened and you can get a good deal on these handsets, I did go to another t-mobile shop before hand but the Artemis looked like it had been dropped so I didnt touch it !....
free of charge at o2 shop - i am on £30 per month tariff but had my qtek s100 since june last year.
i got mine 49.48 on T-Mobile Flext web 'n' walk 22.50 a month for the full 18 month contract. was on T-Mobile website for 79.99!! So better deal on the High Street.
Thank you, so basically they were trying to rip me off :-(
Shame the t-mobile version doesn't have wifi as I do use it quite a bit with my xda exec
Will try a local store next and see if they give me a more realistic offer, I think my problem was I don't normally go over my minutes so O2 are probably not that bothered if I move.
Ta
just to say it seems some shops have been getting the price confused on this handset, when I phoned the store (to see if they had any cheap microsd cards) the day after....they said they gave me the phone free by accident as the pricing hadn't been sorted with them by o2. Reckon they had to pay upgrade charges for me thanks o2
I phoned up for a PAC code and they upgraded mine for free £35 tariff.
I tried O2 earlier today, the local shop didn't have any Orbit's in stock, they wouldn't offer any decent sim only tariffs to use GPRS so I decided to move elsewhere (T-Mobile Web and Walk).
O2 wouldn't issue a code over the phone to move networks - I have to wait for a text message, T-Mobile account and device is set-up, just waiting to port the number across.
I can live without the WiFi to be honest, if I need it I will use one of my other toys, both my main phones (Artemis and MDA-III) still feel lighter in the pocket than carrying around either the Exec or IIs both of which are bricks using extended batteries.
Ten years plus with O2 - goodbye, you really need to address the mobile internet costs, your tariff is beyond a joke - Mike
O2 are not selling the Orbit sim free as it is there "baby" and will only be released with a contract for now.
on my £20 contract o2 UK told me that i did not spend enough to justify a cheaper upgrade - the £200 was too much for me, considering they would have given me £100 to stay with my old imate jam (so £300 upgrade then).
so i cancelled, in writing. would have gone with o2 online.
i just received a text giving me a finishing date when someone from o2 called asking why i was quitting. he offered me a great deal:
100mins 400text £15/month and £100 for the orbit.
chuffed!
moral: i don't think o2 are so prepared to offer better deals if you just threaten to quit with them - but maybe if you get more serious....
Well I left O2, and when contacted the chap was most reasonable when I explained the reason for leaving was due to the high cost of the GPRS usage. He inquired which provider I was switching to - when I mentioned the Web n Walk contract he said little more, my mind was made up prior to the call.
No offer they could make would come close, there again it all depends how you use the device, at between 15 to 25MB per day when mobile I had to address the cost of GPRS - Mike
Can anyone tell me if the T-Mobile version of the O2 Orbit has Wi-FI I seen from an earlier post that this may not be the case. But I am not sure this is correct? thanks Jd76.

Hi jd76 - it has not i am afraid - why they have done that seems madness but there you go
The T-Mobile MDA Compact-III as it is known does NOT have WiFi when supplied in the UK, certain other European versions of the T-Mobile MDA-C-III do have WiFi, so I guess its rip of Britain time again! that said the device is very good and combined with the GPRS Web & Walk you have internet where ever and when ever you like (its just a bit slow) - Mike
Thanks Meschle & Mikealder but I would prefer Wi-Fi built in so looks like O2 when time for upgrading...thanks..
us orbit?
when will artemis or orbit be available in the us?
O2 Best Deals
I went into the Watford store in the UK and said that I had my pac code with me from Vodafone and immediately got a free XDA Orbit (which comes unlocked) on a 12 mnth tariff for £35 a month (400 mins, 100 txt), and after 6 months I can lower my tariff. Just waiting for a 2gb micro sd now. £39.99 from play.com
Hi,
It may worth noting that other than for one month in last years contracr o2 never logged my GPRS usage.
I had a 6mb usage limit and according to their site I never used any of the allowance! Though in the one month they did log it they stung me for an extra £20.
As I never used my Wifi on my JAMin it was a no-brainer switching to T-Mobile and I got the same deal as one of the other posters @ £49 for phone Flext20 (£22.50 per month with WnW).
I was paying £24 with o2.

Hi all,
I think it would be a good idea to list what users have paid for their HTC Desire when upgrading through their service provider.
To make this a useful thread I suggest we keep to a simple format of key information: -

UPDATE 17/05/2010:
I have upgraded today, T-Mobile UK is out of stock so I asked if I could buy it from a store, they said yes but only a T-Mobile store, well I called around and no T-Mobile store has any stock! So I called CPW and they had stock and checked the discount and it still applies!
Remember that my deal includes a F&F discount, and this is the reason i have to pay towards the handset, not a big deal I'm happy!

Let’s keep this thread just about cost and ask questions like this in other threads. But to answer your question, people who originally had a Employee or F&F discount are able to keep them.

Are they on it permanently then? Is it still possible to get F&F now?
The deal I was offered was the Business Unlimited tariff on T-Mobile - 24 month contract at £30 with free phone and 3 months free rental ..... is this good or bad?
Anyone with the discount has it until they end their contract by moving to another provider. AFAIK T-Mobile is no longer offering this discount, so if you don’t have it you won’t get it.
In terms of your deal, I have no idea if it is a good deal or not, why not compare it with what others have listed on this thread. Maybe you should list yours in a similar format, so to help others.
I’ll be upgrading in a few weeks so I’ll update my first post with the details then too.

Best Sim-Free UK Deals

There was a rumour going around it would be £430 sim-free from Phones 4U on release, but I can confirm that it costs £530 and £500 if you but a pay-as-you-go sim with it.
I was holding out for the £430 deal so I'm screwed now - so who has the cheapest sim-free deals in the UK?
If you're willing to do some legwork-
O2 contract comes with
50 mins/250 texts/100mb data for £13.50pm + £179 upfront.
Take out this contract and remove the data bolt on making it £10.50pm. Through TCB you get £50.50 cashback. £10.50 x 24 months= £252 + £179= £431 (- £50.50 cashback) = £380.50 over 2 years.
The phone comes unlocked from o2. You can cancel the contract and technically you wouldn't have to pay VAT on the remaining £252 so it'd leave you around £200 to pay off to cancel the contract. (o2 might not agree to take off vat meaning you'd have to pay the full £252) Or you can use the sim as an extra for light use (pay £10.50 every month for 24 months)
Extra-
Might be worth waiting till easter weekend as o2 might remove the £179 upfront cost like they did last year with the Desire S.
If you know someone who works at o2 they can add a 30% discount per month so it'd be £7.35pm not £10.50pm. (£305 with cashback over 2 years)
About £490 delivered with Handtec.
Sim free
Carphone warehouse has it for £479.99 sim free and website is showing it as in stock. Mines being delivered to the store around 1pm today!

Cheers, I can't figure out how to remove the bolt-on though?...
Also does anyone know anyone working for O2 who can get me a discount? ;p
*EDIT* Wait, if you cancel your contract early you have to pay £345? £345 + £179 (the cost of the phone) = £524?

Nope, how it works is. You sign up online through topcashback http://www.topcashback.co.uk/o2/
It will track and £50.50 and will be paid into an account of your choice within 6 weeks (do not cancel the contract before the £50.50 is payable)
You go for the £13.50 deal which includes a data bolt on for £3 for 100mb.
When you get the contract/phone you can remove it from the o2 website account page or call up customer services and get them to do it. That way you will be paying £10.50 a month for a sim card and the phone. The £179 is taken upfront straight away.
Now you have two options. Either to spread the cost of the phone out by just paying £10.50 every month. Or cancelling (after TCB has paid you the £50.50) by ringing up o2 customer services. I got my figures wrong for cancelling the contract early. it would actually be much less if o2 allow the 20% vat off thingy (because you haven't used the contract). However i've heard reports that o2 have stopped doing this now. so it might be better to just stick with the monthly cost. You could try cancelling early. But i'd only say go for it if the agree to let 20% off the £252 you'd pay over 2 years.
Hope that makes sense^
Also, the phone comes unlocked. + i've edited my post above to reflect the cancellation price.
+ Wait till easter weekend. last year o2 had an easter sale where they reduced the upfront costs from £179 down to £0 on select handsets. If the One X/even the One S is one of those handsets this year then i'd say go for it.
