Mouse pointer doesn't move! : esp. Dopod 800W users come in! - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi Fellas...
The Dopod800W comes with Mapking instead of TomTom.
It's a pretty simple problem.
Once you run Mapking and start navigation mode (which goes into full screen), my mouse pointer will stop functioning. This problem stays there upon exiting of Mapking. When I toggle on the pointer, it appears, but the trackball functions as if there is no pointer. The pointer obviously does not move.
I'll need to reset the device for it to work again.
Does anyone have an issue with their TomTom as well?
Thanks for reading!!

I have no problem with the pointer. My pointer working well to open the Mapking and also in Navigation mode. After i close the Mapking app. the pointer still working.

mask - fyi, no longer facing any problem on the floating SIP during activesync and also the pointer problem. This was after i did a hard reset and do some registry tweaking which might not related to troubleshoot the SIP & Pointer problem. Perhaps I am lucky...
registry that I tweaked :-
- power management
- disable menu animation
- enable landscape cleartype
- unhide Ext.Rom
- add the HTCHomeplug to PocketBreeze tab.
- installed PhonePad International version
** do u reliase the WIFI signal range is bit weak... and i'm still facing the GPSTuner problem !!! **** !!! argggggh !!!

It seems that various registry tweaks can solve the floating SIP problem.
I got my solution from Bongsu3 from PPCSG. Details:

Now... I think my GPS got problem. Can connect to many satellites.. up to 9+.. but I can never get a fix!! for both Mapking 10 & 12

ozvga, bigphone, and a couple problems

after installing ozvga and trying it out i have the following problems.
now in regular sevga mode the number keys in the phone app are missing
in ozvga mode the volume button is missing trom the top. and the slider ont he side controls something else now.
any help in fixing these ??
thanks in advance team.
i've searched the forum for hours and hours. just talk of how to install big phone. also i found a thread where everyone was asking that first question. no asnwer.
OzVga problem...
I have the same problem, with a little investigation this is what I turned up. Our OzVga problem has to do with the volume/speaker icon not coming through in VGA mode. The slider seems to be attached to the first icon on the taskbar to the left of the clock. Which in this case is the signal strength/phone icon - which incidentally doesn't display properly on my phone . Which means the slider toggles the phone message box open at the moment. I think the problem has to do with cemail.vol not having a cemail.96.vol counterpart and the phone then gets confused... Helmi or Buzzdev could you please look into this problem or alternatively could someone with a working version of OzVga please post a link to a working version of the cemail.96.vol file to this thread.
Thanks.
what about the phone buttons, then you return to normal res mode, are the phone buttons missing?
Screen buttons...
No I didn't seem to be missing the phone buttons when I switched to SeVGA, however I got so annoyed about this problem that I switched to Helmi's WM6 v1.1 ROM. So far I haven't had any of these problems with it, though I do miss HTC's task manager...
the phone buttons problem i fixed finally, i just had to uninstall vj's bigphone
yeah i'm silly.
the audio slider problem sucks though, i really like ozvga mode, but the problem renders it unusable for me.

More about my Bluetooth trouble...

Hi all,
A while ago I posted a message about my Bluetooth trouble with my GPS device.
I've narrowed things down to my bluetooth (either the settings, the hardware or the stack). I know for sure that there's nothing wrong with my GPS device...
The following happens:
-I turn on my phone
-I switch on Bluetooth using the Comm Manager
-I pair my GPS device
-Launch Tomtom or Route66 or Google Maps or any other GPS software I've tried
-It works perfectly for a few minutes
-Then suddenly I get the message 'GPS device not found'
-When I quit the application, I still can see the Bluetooth icon in the top bar of my homescreen
-When I enter the Comm Manager there's a red cross in the bluetooth icon, and trying to turn it on doens't work
-The blue light still blinks!!!!
-I can't enter the bluetooth settings, the device gets stuck (it hangs) for a few minutes
The only thing that works is resetting the device (turning it off and on again)
It happened in WM5 and it still happens in WM6!
Does anyone have a clue???
Sorry for my xxxth post on this subject, but I'm pretty much desperate!
TIA!
This May Help You!

Or try Total Commander!
I have tomtom 6 on my dash with other tweaks to run it.
Go into the settings click on the "Power Management" scroll down to the "Display Time Out" and choose NEVER and then go to the "Home Screen" settings for the "Time Out" choose NEVER also. Hope this resolves your issue.
Another issue could be due to your dash/s620 not being App Unlocked.
Thanks for your reply. I'll try it first thing in the morning!
BTW, do I have to apply the app-unlock again after upgrading the ROM?

i have to use a program called fake cursor and i enabled the jogg bar feature, fake cursor acts like a virtual mouse cursor so i can type in the address, choose options etc. i can use majority of the menus without it but you do need it some times, since tomtom is more for touch screen devices anyways. the joggbar i use mainly for the shortcut for the fakecursor. the bottom touch shortcut is set for the fake cursor app and the top shortcut is either tomtom or as mine is set to the fake cursor menu so i can disable it when im done.
So did it work? Another suggestion that might help, when I installed tomtom on my dads ppc and i couldnt get the blue2th gps recvr to sync properly, got really frustrated... I figured out that the my dash was the culprit, turn off any blue2th devices near you and then it worked instantly.
I posted a screenshot (post #10) to verify if I added the right settings. If I did it right, they didn't work!!
The disconnection of the bluetooth connection also appears when I'm in my car, and the only bluetooth devices there are my HTC and my GPS.
Thanks for your suggestions! I'm getting pretty desperate by now. The only thing I can try is using a different GPS device.
I'll keep you guys (& gals?) posted!

Why always today screen after suspend mode?

Hi folks,
a quick question: since I am using WM6 my tytn always displays the today screen after comming from the suspend mode or blanc screen. This was definitly not the behaviour it did with WM5. An example:
When I'm listening to music with the built in Windows Media Player I like to turn off the screen (using the built in blanc screen function) to save battery. When I switch on the device again to change music or something the device always displays the today sceeen instead of the media player application and I have to switch back to the media player window manually. That drives me crazy as it is not the way it behaved using WM5.
Is there any possibility to change this behaviour in the way, that WM6 shows the last used application instead of the today screen when resuming from suspend mode or blanc screen?
Thank you!
Check you Today settings.
Go to Start>Settings>Today>Items tab and investigate the "Today Timeout" setting.

I checked this already. The described problem is not related to the Today timeout setting. It appears every time, after a few seconds blanc screen anyway. Try it, you'll see.
i have also experianced this, is really annoying, anyone have any ideas how to resolve it...?

Hi!
The best prgm I used for this reason is PPcsoft psShutXP u can have it on tray and u gona have 3 alt. Light Off Shut Down and Soft Reset strike on Light Off it works fine
I like this "feature". Problem I have is if I leave outlook open, I don't get a LED notification of new mail. At some point I had a ROM installed that always went back to the today screen and seem to resolve my issue. Is this something that can be changed in the registry?
Cal
nobody knows anything about that? Can't believe that there are not more people out there, who suffer from this issue

Hi!
I think if u try the program I mentioned at #5 u gona like it. Here is the link

same problem here...
BatteryStatus
I think this might be related to BateryStatus Today Plugin.
There is a check box under "Tools" - "Show Today Screen on WakeUp". If you uncheck this it stops behaving in this way.

Thanks for sharing the link but I think, this will not solve the problem for me: as far as I can see you have to go to the today screen anyway to reach the buttons this tool provides. So I haven't got anything....
Great stuff! Batterystatus really solved the problem...just set the tool to not show today screen and it works. Thanks for the hint!
(though I really don't understand that MS doesn't support this feature?!)
Hi, its not that MS doesn't support it, its that its enabled on some roms, and others not, mine always returns to whatever app it was on, after suspend, If you wanted to help figure out the cause, I suggest you install sktracker, and do a before and after the battery status install, and see what key that option in battery status is changing, I don't much care for battery status myself.
Start > Settings > Today > Items Tab
UNCHECK the Today Timeout
Today Timeout means that if the device is left unchecked for say, the Default "4 Hours" than after 4 hours, no matter what program window was running, it defaults back to the today screen when the device is reawakened
pssibly a bug in your OS or some program you are running makes it so every time you turn it back on
but uncheck that and maybe youll have some luck??
i had a similar problem with my iPaq hx4700 where if i was at the today screen, it would keep flickering, refreshing it every 1 second
i disabled the today timeout, and viola, its worked fine since
I have this issue too.

Unrelated. I have BS installed and that option is NOT checked, yet it still does it.
This is very annoying, I like mine to sleep after 2 mins (to save power and lock the keyboard). then back to the today screen and have to switch to what I was doing..
Related to the Lock setting?
I have the same problem, and I think it is related to the lock settings. When I enable a simple PIN, my phone always returns to the Today screen after leaving suspend, regardless of the settings in the Today aplet.
If I disable the simple pin in the Lock settings applet, the pone returns to the last used application (unless the today timeout has been exceeded, as one would expect).
Hopefully that will help someone discover a fix. This problem did not occur in WM 5.

Hey, you are absolutely right. The problem won't be fixed by Batterystatus. I just mad a hardreset and didn't set a password, so I thought batterystatus fixed it.
It is a bug with the built in password function. So, is there anybody out there, who is able to fix that?
As said before, the Today showing after power-on the device is "another" problem caused by the WM6 Password Lock System. It's necessary to disable the password that locks the device to fix it.
And it's not the only problem. Be warned, don't try this at home!!!; if you got a password active and then you change the Owner Name without changing the password, you will find after the next reboot that your machine is unreachable because the password isn't recognized at all.
Incredible but true!

Tapping an inactive part of the screen closes the active application... why?

Somehow this has crept into the functionality of my JasJam & I'm trying to resolve how it could be occurring. Basically, If I click (tap) on a unused part of the central screen of any program, that application closes. It doesn't happen every time, but enough to become really annoying particularly if I miss-hit a button with my big fingers & the app closes. Without going into every running process, my core config & programs are :
Running CRC 9.0 ROM, UL, FTouchFlo, Taskswitch. Is this a known problem & better still, does anyone know a likely culprit ?
Same issue
I had the same issue a while back and have since disabled the functionality in Ftouchflo to minimize with a swipe and that fixed it for me.
I did the same a little while ago but the problem persists
Yeah, I removed the minimize against the up/down gesture in FTouchFlo but it still appears to be doing it - actually it might require a soft reboot !
Yes! the tap seems to be triggering the up/down FTouchFlo gesture
... something to note when using FTouchFlo
