Changing start menu view from Gridview to Listview - HTC Excalibur

Hi all,
Dont know who all is interested in this but I'm one that isnt into the way the start menu looks by default (which is a gridview style). I changed the view to listview which I like a whole lot better and thought I'd share by changing the following values
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\StartMenu as follows:
* GridView DWORD Value = 1, for GridView
* GridView DWORD Value = 0, for ListView

I've been looking for this for more than 3 days...
Thank you

Great
Thanks a lot

Thanks a lot

Only Where to change the Scan Interval
HKLM\ControlPanel\Wifi\ScanInterval
Did you try searching the registry with PHM Reistry Editor?
i´ve tryed searching with "Araxis Merge" and found some keys, but when ever i reset the device and restore the settings, there is no effect to the WiFi-settings

Registry entry for changing scroll bar size.

Can someone point me to the info regarding the registry entry for making the scroll bars thinner. I have looked every where and searched for scroll bars.. cant find it.
got it.
had to sneak over to the q forum.
here it is.
1. Making the scrollbars smaller (Vert. and Horz.)
This hack allows 4 icons on a row in the start menu instead of 3 and allows more to be viewed on the screen in IE:
• Go to: HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GWE\
• Adjust the following values
cyHScr : Horizontal Scrollbars
Height in pixels (default is 6, set it to 3)
cxVScr : Vertical Scrollbars
Width in pixels (default is 6, set it to 3)
• Soft-reset
Its mostly nicer for web browsing.
also this asks for you to create them, they are allready created.
Bump for a good change that I felt was missing from the new roms. Thought others would appreciate it.

[Q] VB and the ApplicationBar

Using VB, im trying to add an application bar in the code (rather than xaml). I have the following code:
Code:
Public Sub New()
InitializeComponent()
Dim appBar As ApplicationBar
appBar = New ApplicationBar
appBar.IsMenuEnabled = True
appBar.IsVisible = True
appBar.Opacity = 1
Dim icon As New Uri("/Images/expand.png", UriKind.Relative)
Dim cmdStart As New ApplicationBarIconButton(icon)
cmdStart.Text = "Start"
'AddHandler (cmdStart.Click), test_click()
appBar.Buttons.Add(cmdStart)
' Set the data context of the listbox control to the sample data
DataContext = App.ViewModel
End Sub
However when i run it in the emulator there is no application bar! No error either. It is a pivot application also but this shouldnt make a difference surely? any ideas?
The application bar is accessible via the ApplicationBar property of the Page class you're deriving from. You don't need to create your own instance.
Thanks, I actually figured this out just after i posted the question. Thanks anyway.

[Q] Default BladeBuddy (and similar) settings for Epic Touch?

Like the title says, what are the default settings found in Blade Buddy (and similar apps) advanced settings menu for the Epic 4G touch? I'm afraid I did the ignorant and forgot to write them down/save them. Nothing serious, however I've noticed worse performance in intensive games/apps and would like to default the settings.
I have everything checked, but these are the ones I'm curious about:
debug.sf.hw
media.stagefright.enable-player
media.stagefright.enable-meta
media.stagefright.enable-scan
media.stagefright.enable-http
dalvik.vm.heapsize : value 64m
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize : value (none set)
Dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit : value (none set)
Assuming default isn't best, what settings would you guys recommend? I noticed weird freezes while playing Battle Bears -1 after tweaking the settings.
Thanks. I've searched online and in XDA but gave up after falling short
I hate to self-bump, but if anyone is rooted, you can simply download Blade Buddy and tell me what the default settings are
No changes required on your end. The app doesn't do anything if you don't change any settings. Settings I need values for are in the advanced options.
Thanks!
I have the following as default settings:
debug.sf.hw : 0
media.stagefright.enable-player : false
media.stagefright.enable-meta : false
media.stagefright.enable-scan : false
media.stagefright.enable-http : true
dalvik.vm.heapsize : value 64m
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize : value (none set)
Dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit : value (none set)
I'm running StarBurst ROM v1.9.8r so these may not be identical to stock settings, but I hope this does the trick for you!
I appreciate it. Thanks!
I was fairly certain that HW was off by default, but wasn't sure. Seems odd that it would be.

Some useful settings

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by4a.setedit22
By using this app you can change settings, which can not be changed normally. A few I would like to explain here. I am not responsible for anything! Use at your own risk!
If you know more settings, you can share it with the other users here.
You can only change settings in the tab "System", as long as the app doesn't have the permission for this. Without root you need to use adb to grant this permission.
I recommend that the phone should be restarted when changes have been made since not all changes are updated directly.
If you don't have the setting you can add it by pressing "+ Add new setting".
Setting: hide_virtual_key
Value: 1 enables it, 0 disables it
What does this setting do: This setting adds a button to the navigation bar, which hides it. You can then make it visible again by moving your finger upwards from the bottom of the screen.
Setting: multiwindow_mode_settings
Value: 1 enables it, 0 disables it
What does this setting do: It toggles the MultiWindow function on/off.
Setting: hw_not_display_week
Value: false enables it, true disables it
What does this setting do: Toggles visibility of week day on the icon of the calender app.
Setting: app_name_two_lines
Value: true enables it, false disables it
What does this setting do: Toggles whether app names should be truncated in the launcher or if they can take two lines.
If you can't enable network speed informations in status bar this might help:
Setting: show_network_speed_enabled
Value: -1 hides it in settings, 0 disables it, 1 enables it
Information: Seems to be completly broken/disabled/removed in B420/B421.
