Universal Died while upgrading - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro Software Upgrading

hi
i was upgrading my universal, following instructions from http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Helmi
after upgrading, on my computer i received an error saying the upgrade was unsuccessful and now my universal is dead
i tried hard resetting, i tried putting it into bootloader mode...
there is nothing on the screen
what should i do?

have you ever entered BL before? most new users would not realise their in BL as it doesn't have any backlight. look closely

yes, i have, it isnt working at all, there is nothing on the screen
when i try to flash the device the pc says error 101 connection error

does your charge light appears when connected to AC power?

nope, no charge light
its sad just about 3 hours ago my device was working perfectly

here's what you do:
start activesync on your computer.
Go to connection settings and deselect allow usb connections.
connect your uni to your computer and push the backlight + on/off button and hold these. Then press the reset with your pen, still holding the backlight and on/off.
The screen should say something about serial or usb.
The backlight will not be lighted so it's hard to read.
If the screen doesn't say anything, unplug and plug in the usb connecter one more time.
Does your red charge led lit when you put it on the wallcharger ?

i tried that, many many times, screen still remains blank
nope, no red light when i plug it into the wall
this is bad, its not responding to anything

When plugged, does it give you a red blink (Charge light) when you Soft Reset?

yes!
yes, the first sign of life, when pluged in via usb to the pc, when i soft reset i get a red blink
any ideas?

Try holding down Light + power for at least 5sec. and while still pressing, do a soft reset.
If you dont go to BootLoader then try to increase the Hold down Light + Power some more.

And BTW. dont get stressed, keep cool.
Youl just **** it even more up if you get stressed, Ok

k, i just tried that, everytime i let go fo the soft reset button the pc says the usb device is not recognized, but still nothing on the screen

lol yeah ur right
thanks for the help

NP. now run the original upgrade for your device...your device is in boot loader right?

nope no bootloader, the screen is completely blank

Look closely, it wont have backlight on, so look really closely.
Remove the SD card and Sim, and just keep trying different time intervals with the "holding down Light + power for at least 5sec. and while still pressing, do a soft reset."
And if you had low battery when you started the upgrade, the use your Wall charger, not USB charger...and let it stay in for 1/2 hour before proceding.
Keep us updated

i removed the sim and sd, and have tried many different intervals, i charged the device all night last night with teh wall charger, still no luck

Hmmmmm, this is a bit strange.
The exact same thing happend to me some 5 days ago.
I managed to get it back with this trick.
Try Soft Reset between every try....just hang in there suddently it wil come to life

Do a ATX-reset/Destat.
Remove charger, battery etc and push in on/off button for 30sec twice. Then push down as many keyboard buttons as you can for a little while too. This way you "drain" it and everything should be reset. Try again.
Works especially well on computers that don't wanna POST. Same thing with cellphones, TV's, remotes etc.
ATX-Reset/Destat. Remember that one. Can solve loads of glitches.
How do I know?
Don't ask I work with these kind of issues every day.

i just tried the atx reset destat idea, it didnt boot it up
ive tried many different intervals now, ive spent hours trying to get this to work
bosjo were u connected to the pc while trying to get it into bootloader?

help! artemis won't turn on!

i've just updated the ROM on my artemis, after CID unlocking etc. It was working fine, although it seemed to occasionally power off whilst copying files to it via AS. Thinking it was the SD card I removed it, and now it won't turn on. Plugging into power for a few mins gives a red light on the top, but I can't power the thing on.
Anyone want to give me some tips on what I can do to rescue it?
Download this HTC P3300 WWE factory rom here http://rapidshare.com/files/19322112/HTC_1.12.405.01_026790_WWE_SHIP.rar . Now first launch Bootloader (multi color screen) and just run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the rar, voila your device unbricked .
Bootloader: Press voice dialing & on/off button at the same time till you see a multi color screen (red/green/blue stripes)

Your mobile is actually turned on but backlight is set to lower so your screen does not appear. It 's a known bug changing backlight by itself. It happened to me too with Β&Β4 when I enable Batery Status tray Icons. And happened again on B&B 4.3 twice with no reason and Thanks God not to lower setting.
You have two options (both painfull).
1. Hard reset.
2. Reflash.
Good Luck
i thick it's easyer than reflash or hard reset, just plus the artemis to a usb or to the charger and your screen bright will be at full bright. Once done that, simply adjust the bright when running with battery at control panel.

I'm presuming that it's not actually related to the flash, until proved otherwise though - no-one else has reported any issues and as it was a 2nd hand but new to me handset it seems more likely it already had a fault. Annoying, though.
Ric
my friend had a similar problem with his charmer, although h never cooked it.
if you are in london, go to southall, they will fix it for £20
try plugging in to the charger if the little orange light comes on, its a phone fault, if the little light doesnt come on, your phone is not holding charge, either way can be fixed
Orbit cannot be switched on, and cannot be charged

Hi, I'm having a similar problem as you described. When the charger is plugged into my Orbit, the little light does not come on. Moreover, when try to switch my phone on, it turns on and starts booting. But before it could boot further than the O2 splashscreen, it shuts off. Occassionally, I do succeed in turning it on, which it would turn it itself off at random from a few mins to a few hours after turning the phone on. I'm able to access the red, green, blue screen without any problems, and it can be turned on (ie the phone remains in the red, green blue screen) indefinately untill the battery runs out. I've tried re-flashing with the O2 official WM6 (which i was using for a few months already) which didn't make a difference. I'm able to access the phone through activesync just fine, but it wouldn't charge throughj the USB connection as well. I'm currently charging my battery with my friends Orbit.
Would any guru have any clue on what's going on with my phone? Can it be fixed?

Tilt 2 Will Not Boot

I have an ATT Tilt 2, approx 7 months old. I was running the EnergyROM, but I forget which one. This morning, the battery died, I plugged it in too charge on my laptop. I got a dialog box that said the charging power was insufficient to run the device, and it turned itself off. I let it be for a while (hour or so) then tried to reboot. It would not respond to the power button, so I hit the red reset button with my stylus. It booted, but not successfully. The phone got caught in what I can only describe as a loop. It would start the boot animation, then fail. It would stay turned off for a few minutes, then spontaneously try to boot again.
I held down the reset button again........nothing. Power button.......nothing. So then I tried to wipe it, using my micro SD card. I was able to get the phone into bootloader mode, and told it to apply the update by pressing the volume key. However, it still loops, except now it goes into the bootloader, except there is an error message in the bootloader screen, buried under the text. FWIW I am using the Olinex HardSPL.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated
EDIT: This only happens when it is plugged in. When it is on battery, it is completely unresponsive. No power button, no reset button, nothing. All i get is the amber charge light

That means the phone is NOT charging the battery. Did you try using another USB cable? If so, did you try another battery? If you tried that too and it still doesn't work, that may mean that the charging circuit is dead and you will have to either get that one repaired or get a new phone

Try charging it from the wall plug. Your laptop port is not putting out enough power. Let it charge until the green light comes on.

[Q] Need Help in Laymen's Terms...Tilt 2 Stuck on Red, Green, Blue, and White Screen.

I have a HTC Tilt 2... I have been having a ton of problems with this phone but when it really freaks out, I usually take the battery out, let it sit a few days and then it starts working again. My phone started doing some funny things today so I restarted it as usual, it freezes and I remove the battery. When I turned it back on I got a red, green, blue and white screen with text:
RHOD300 32M MI-BC
SPL-0.87.0000
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MicroP(KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
498, 526 792,855
795,211 214,211
223,845 Calibrated
This has never happened before.
This RGB&W screen used to say serial when it first happend a few hours ago but then I installed ActiveSync and plugged it into PC, now says USB.
ActiveSync won't recognize my device, it does appear in My Computer.
I tried following directions in another forum to turn the device off then hold the pickup/hangup/power button at the same time...a different screen appeared than the forum directed, a gray screen with "Trigger Ramdump Mode"...then I couldn't do anything.
I can restart it back into the tri-color screen...
I need help in laymen's terms. I've never tried to change anything about the phone's operating system, I've never done an update or anything, I do not have the Tilt2 CD.
Right now I have my SIM card and my SanDisk card removed, I was afraid it could get erased when I tried the pickup/hangup/power button trick.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!!!!
This screen is called the bootloader. Its used by technicians (or more advanced users) to load the OS or "ROM" onto the phone. It may be stuck in bootloader because some of the OS files are damaged or missing, and the OS is not booting up. Or possibly even a hardware failure.
Pulling the battery may/may not be the culprit. I've read someone on here mention that pulling the battery can corrupt files on the phone. If the phone is lagging, frozen, then pulling the battery is not the correct way to restart the phone. The correct method of restarting the phone by soft reset is done by sticking the stylus into the small red hole/button on the side of the phone, while the batter cover is off:
http://www.hardreset.eu/htc_touch_pro_2_rhodium_hard_reset_soft_reset_en.html
Pulling the battery is only a method of last resort, as the soft reset button will work in almost all cases.
Hard reset by holding TALK, END and POWER is probably not going to work. It requires the OS to be working, and you are not even getting to the point that the OS is booting.
Its supposed to say "USB" when the phone is connected to your PC via the USB cable. If I remember properly, it will say "Serial" in bootloader for a second when you plug the phone to USB, and switch to saying "USB" after that. USB is a form of serial connection, after all (USB = Universal Serial Bus). As long as it says "USB", you are in somewhat good shape, since it SHOULD allow you to try the following.
Try downloading the latest ROM from HTC. This is actually a newer version than the ROM that was originally on your phone, but still "official" ATT software. And by most accounts, better than the old ROM. Since its official software, installing this will not endanger any warranty you may still have on the phone.
Its the first file on the following page ("ROM Update"):
http://www.htc.com/us/support/tilt-2-att/downloads/
With your phone connected to your PC by USB, run the .exe ROM update file and follow the instructions that come up on your PC screen. It should work. Try it and let us know.
Bear in mind, you will lose any personal data you have on the phone (contacts, texts, emails, etc). But you've probably already lost those.
Its possible there is some other way out of it, I certainly don't know all the tricks. But in searching around this site, being stuck in bootloader seems to require flashing a new ROM to get out of it. And it seems that you are prepared to lose your personal data, based on the fact that you were already trying to hard reset (the TALK, END, and POWER button process) which also dumps all your data. And flashing the official ROM is really pretty easy to accomplish. Just a pain that you have to re-setup the phone again, since it will basically be returned to factory condition (but in this case, a slightly newer version of the OS).
The SAME thing happened to My HTC Tilt 2 an Hour ago (1/13/2010 4:46pm)
The same exact thing occurred to my HTC Tilt 2 today. It is stuck on the red green, blue and white screen with the same yellow 'config' type message . The white bottom strip has the black letters "serial" typed in.
My problem also, is that the phone stays "on" until i pull the battery out. The moment i place the battery back in the phone, the keys stay lit up instantly and the screen is black. When pressing the power button, then i get the same red, green, blue and white screen.
Ive tried holding the talk/end/power buttons all at the same time, it doesnt make a difference. So i cant get to the step where you press the "volume up" key so to initiate the master reset.
Ihad no idea the HTC Tilt2 would just fry like this. I had no additional apps that were unusual to the norm, i even had more free space than used on the set. its not like the phone was over loaded.
Hmmmmm.... help!!!
Re-read above about "soft-reset" and you might want to try reflash your phone.

Read my post above. Your OS is missing or damaged, and you need to reflash (re-install) it.
Master reset re-loads the OS from the ROM area of your memory. The ROM is damaged, so their is nothing to reload. That's why its stuck in bootloader (tri-color screen).

Today, i stuck the battery in the phone (Tilt2) pressed the hard reset keys. THIS time it allowed the volume-UP key to finally kick in the reset to default cycle. I got the phone working again and have restored my last backup So, I havent lost anything.
The only problem now i am noticing is the light on the keyboard never goes off. Even when I power the phone down, "the keyboard stays lit".. I am having to remove the battery just to keep it from draining when the phone is not in use.hmmm. is there a regEdit key I can modify that may turn off the keys? id rather have no light at all over no battery juice. If i can edit the key to turn off the backlight on the keyboard permanantly , this will be a temp fix for me until i get a new phone.
as anyone ever experienced this?

Well, today 1/18/2011: the above issue seem to have vanished altogether. Very good. I did nothing but what i was resolved to do until I buy a new phone (take the battery out so to completely power down the phone and lights).
Today, my ole third hand decided to work like normal! Yay!. All of a sudden it rebooted, and now the keyboard backlight turns off when the keypad is closed and you can see it light up when extended. and most importantly: the back lighty for the keypad goes "off" when the phone is powerd down. go figure this one.
I am glad its working like normal now, but i know its time to get a new phone. These are just symptoms of the "big-crash" soon to come. I am backing up every day.
For now, very very glad my phone is back to "normal"

[Q] Galaxy Tab S - LED Flashing - Won't turn on

Hi, was wondering if anyone else has/had similar issues?
Got the Galaxy Tab S today and was spending time setting it up. Connected to the PC and charge was at about 57%. Suddenly the window displaying tablet contents on the PC disappeared and the screen went black.
The power button didn't turn the screen back on. I held it down, thinking that it required a hard reset but nothing happened. I disconnected the tablet from my pc and went to use it's dedicated charger. The battery icon came up, stating it was 57% charge, and shortly after the LED light on the back of the tablet started flashing rapidly. I quickly took out the cable.
I've tried holding down the home key, volume down, and power button and nothing happens. I then tried the same and having a finger on the screen. Then I repeated the process again with the cable connected to the charger, and then computer.
No matter what I try, the device won't turn on and the LED keeps flashing repeatedly when connected with usb charging cable. I also tried using another cable.
I'm thinking of phoning up where I got it from tomorrow and asking for a replacement, unless there's something I'm missing here?
Any thoughts would be great, thanks.
My guess would be, you are not pressing the buttons correctly.

That doesn't work either. The only response I get from the tablet is by plugging in the charging cable and then it goes on to display an epileptic inducing light show with the LED constantly flashing on and off

Never seen this problem before. Could be a bad partition making it not boot. Replacement may be your answer as its better to get a new one and be safe.

I've used various tablets before and never encountered any of them not booting at all. The led flashing business is very weird. I'll phone up the store I got it from and ask if I can get a replacement.
Thanks for the responses

SW3 won't start

Well a few days ago, like 2 weeks ago, I thougt I lost my SW3 (I use it w / o leash because it broke and there's no replacement for the stainless steel one) but actually it was lost on my travel bag xD
After plug in again it started to charge, but when I tried to turn on (after reach 100%), after the sony and SW3 logo, it turns off, like it has a problem at boot. I tried to repair via Xperia Companion and the process was succesful, but the watch just gets stuck on the same SW3 logo.
Now I think is the battery, but I'm really hoping is not, there are any suggestion guys about what could be happening?
Is it stuck at the 4 dots spinning? If So I have the same problem, I have tried a factory reset, updating the rom via push commands etc I have brought a new SWR50 thats working with ADB debugging enabled this time (Didn't do it on the last one) my question hopefully will help the OP as well can I take a complete clone/rom backup from the working watch then push that to the broken watch (Bare in mind no debugging enabled on the broken one) Also to the OP have you held down the power button to get to the fastboot menu and factory reset/recovery settings? if not then you turn off the watch, press and hold the power button until the "insert usb now" shows, you then press the power button quickly twice to access the recovery menus

I forgot about this thread lol
thanks dude!, A couple times it reached the spinning dots, but not always, sometimes it turned off on the SW3 logo before the dots appear, and actually I tried all those things you mentioned, but it didn't work, also I think my watch is (even more) screwed now xD...
Trying to do a second repair on Xperia Companion, the watch got turned off in mid repair, lending obviously on an error, and also losing the ability of do offline charge so once the battery reach 0, is over...
now when I plug in just stays on the SW3 logo, I still can go to connect USB screen and go to the two clicks menu (and stays on), but every time I try a repair, in the middle of the process disconnects and turns off, I don't know exactly why only when is plugged on the repair process it turns off, even pluged in the PC w/o repair stays connected all the time... bad thing is I don't know if is charging or not, so could stop working anytime
Have you tried to push the update through adb recovery mode?

every day I'm more convinced the watch is screwed
If I turn on the watch stays on the SW3 logo all the time (it seems offline charge works after all), I even can go to the "insert USB" screen and stays on all the time, but when I try to push something to the watch, always disconnects, turns off and the process obvioulsy gets interrumpted, I'm losing my hopes xD
I'm using the original charging wire, but tried with other working ones
my sister bought me this smart watch , it came on long enough to program a few this after I charge it and then 10 minutes later it shut off and now it won't come back on or power up , what should I do ?
I have a weird problem with my sw3. When I plugin my watch to a charger nothing shows up but the watch gets heated up. But when I connect it to PC it just keeps turning on and off. Tried various methods available on this site but none of them worked.
