XDA orbit from o2 - P3300, MDA Compact III General

Hi I have just got the new xda orbit phone and I need help in getting my tom tom 510 in the car, to use the xda to get trafic updates. Can any one help please. Ron

I'm a bit confused by what you are asking. Are you talking about a TomTom 510 unit or are you asking about running TomTom on your Orbit? Your Orbit will need v5.21 or v6.

Can you put Tom Tom Sat Nav on the O2 XDA orbit? Ive always fancied Sat Nav but never got round to buying one. If you can do it this way I would love to!

Oh yes. Make sure it's version 6.0.3 as this has some specific fixes in it for the Orbit. Once you have V6 installed if it is an older version than 6.0.3 then you can download the latest version from the TomTom site. Enjoy.

Moving the thread to Artemis.

TomTom 3 on New Universal/Exec? Will it work?

Hi
Anyone any ideas as to whether tomtom3 which I have running happily on my 2i using 2003se will work when loaded onto the new o2 Exec using windows mobile 2005? Need to know before I decide to upgrade or stick with 2i........also any ideas if the port connector and the bottom of the 2i is different to the exec, again that changes the car kit connector too!! ahhhhhh!
Thanks all
Bryson
if you are out of luck finding people with both the universal and that tomtom thingy
i sugest you look if people with xda2i with 2005 and people with xda2 with 2005 can run it
if it run on those 2 2005 versions i would think it would run on the universal
No it doesn't work. I have Tom Tom 3 & 5 and neither of them will install.
It may have something to do with Activesync 4 which does things very different to versions 3.xx
I'd suggest waiting until Tom Tom annouce compatibility with WM 5 if I were you.
tom tom 5 works greaT
please check the other message boards for instructions on how install / workaround as4 by cab files. good luck with bt though.
Exec up and running with tomtom 5.1 and BT GPS..............wasnt easy! But running a treat, all we need now is a good car cradle!

Backgammon for the XDA Exec

Can anyone help? Wondering where I would source this game, plus others, for my new Exec.
I've seen a few sites that advertise games for Palm etc but unsure if these would be compatible.
Thanks in advance.

Doesn't the imate rom come with backgammon?
yes it does. i installed the imate rom and can play backgammon AND i like the imate rom also....
I just took the cab file from the I-Mate extended rom and installed it on my T-Mobile Rom.
Sorry but I'm not the most technical person on these forums!! How would I go about doing that then?
Try here

o2 Orbit anthing I need to do

Hello all Im back. I have been away for a a bit with my ipaq6915 but never really got on that well with it. It was not really that good at any of the things it tried to be.
Anyway. Have ordered my o2 Orbit today with the sat nav kit.
Do I need to do anything to the orbit on first boot up?
I already have tomtom 5.1 which I paid for with the Ipaq. Is copilot any better ?

Hiya,
I'm a newbie at this Nav stuff, and I've never seen either before.. but here's this for starters..
I bought the Orbit with CoPilot as an add on.
It works well apart from a few niggles (nothing in life is perfect )
I liked the screen layout and the way you access stuff. I liked the 2d display of directions and the simplicity of directions.
I didn't like it bursting into action every time the Orbit received an incoming call.
I then ordered TomTom 6. Straight away liked the way you install from DVD and accessories you could build on. Lots of them!
I Did not like the exit button on the third screen, and I'm slightly warming to the way of accessing info by clicking on the map display.
Hope that's ok for starters.

You can download Garmin Mobile XT from the Garmin website. (you need I think the garmin support files and basemap)
Then with their mapsource software, you can upload your maps from windows to the phone.
GPS
um..actually i am looking for free download..if you have it..
Then you went to the wrong forum...

O2 XDA Orbit with TouchFLO?

Hey guys!
I'm new here, so at first i want to say hello to everyone here
I have a O2 XDA Orbit and a few days ago, i found this page here, and read much in here
The page i found was this page: here
And i have to say: THIS STYLE IS COOL !!! ))
Is there a ROM (or something else) for my Orbit that i have a style like this?
What i mean, a grafik-style like this, and the function that i can use my orbit without my pen - like the IPhone?
What do I need and how dangerous is it for my Orbit?
Thank you very very much,
Greetings from Germany,
Sunnyboy
I have installed the FlyROM OS on my O2 XDA Orbit, and it works just fine, including TouchFlo 2D.
You will need to spend some time reading up on how to perform a ROM upgrade, the pre-requisites, etc and the risks as you need to be very careful. However, with some time and research you can greatly improve the performance of the original Orbit.
