Decrease of incall volume in wm6 (Solved, page4) - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

I have noticed a decrease in in-call volume...is this an issue with wm6? At max volume, I have trouble hearing in a noisy environment...never had this problem before with WM5. The same issue i had with WMXDA Live v0.20. and now I have it using WM6 for Hermes LVSW Edition (2007-03-11). Any solutions?

Not very often. I am a data hound, but I did notice the smaller handset volume. Hopefully this is addressed soon.

I guess we are all deaf - coz there do not seem to be too many people who are bothered by this. The weird thing is, that the phone is capable of making a LOT of noise. Just set it to speakerphone and watch out! Would be really nice if we could crank up the "regular" volume a bit.

Add me to the deaf crowd, I am using the first release 0.10 and I noticed that if you change it to full volume, as long as you do not reset/turn off, for calls after that, it usually remembers the settings. I tried the fix mentioned earlier but to no avail.
Thanks.

Add me also I was outside and could barely hear the thing..
The speaker phone is pretty much useless if your not in a sound tight room.

I must be deaf too. I have had this same problem with all WM6 Roms I've tried so far.

This worked great for me

Worth a try if you are still having problems hearing.

Ring is so quiet

Seem to have a bizzare issue, my ringtone sound which is set on max is still quiet and there is no way i would hear it if i was outside, does anyone else have this issue?
Yes! Please search the forum you will get some topics about this exact issue
Yes I've missed 2 calls today because of that... it was in my pocket. (vibration was off though)
The good thing is you don't keep it in your pocket too much, 'couse it's an awesome phone...

I have it on order but i must say this loudspeaker issue start to worrie me ...
it seems that T-Mobile versions have some volume issues , ... there is some thread concerning that, ...many say that the generic phones volume is just fine ... people who reported that their volume is low here yours is T-Mobile right? not generic ROM?

The reason I am not worried is because I was out that day with lots of people around and there was lots of noise and vibration off. This happened to me often with my Nokia 6500 slide and my other phones as well. So that's why I am not worried.
Volume seems fine with me - if in a loud place then obviously you'll struggle to hear it in your pocket but that's when vibrate comes into play. SMS tone woke me up this morning so does the job for me
Gotta agree, im on t-mobile and mine seems really loud. So much so I had to change the default text to something quieter as i found it too loud. lol
I am on neither so going to send it back and get a replacement as i have two HTC Desire both configured the same, same software/firmware and i have tried both factory reset. All other functions seem to work fine on it.

i780 no sound notification when call ends

The title says it all. My i780 does not give any kind of sound notification when the call ends for some reason (bad reception, opposite end hangs up etc). All the phones I owned till now have this feature. Many times I realize after minutes that I am talking to myself. I must ask the other end for confirmation every now and then when I have to say a lot or regularly check my screen.
Is this only happening to me? I have tried 4-5 cooked WM 6.5 roms from this forum since October 2009 when I got this phone. The same issue with all of them. Today I also updated my phone part. Still got the problem.
Is this a known issue? Is there a solution?
Thank for your help!

This is no issue, just no sound binded for it.
Its ok,in WM almost all sounds, also like busy tone, incoming call, end of call , etc... are binded via registry. If its not binded, youl hear no sound =)

Callee: very bad audio when calling

Recently I have been getting very bad sound when calling someone.
I can hear the callee perfectly but they can barely hear me, I sound like a 'fish in the water' or with a very big 'echo'.
This has been the case after updating to Lollipop.
Hi,
i have the same issue...
i cant use the handsfree or microphone as listeners report they can hardly hear me....all since the lollipop update...

I Am Assuming you are using Stock Lollipop FW from Sony
Head to Settings>Call
Enable Microphone Noise Suppression, Set the Equalizer to Bright and enable the Speaker Voice Enhancement
Also make sure you are on Max Volume when In-calls

I just tried same thing with equalizer. I will see if this will work. @Devenda, any news since 2 days ago?

Nope, still stable, I tested it but the audio was clear.
Problem is that this issue comes and go's randomly, so all I can do at this moment is wait...
None of the suggestions described worked for me. This bugged me so much I was forced to run to RR rom.. Problem solved but I miss Sony's great battery life ??
I have the same problem.
Only the equaliser was different (normal), I've changed it to bright and will see.
Don't you think it is a problem with radio reception ? I'm not sure but I think I have not the same number of bars than before. I haven't got an other 4G phone to compare.
Equaliser doesn't work for me.
I have changed prefered network, it was 4g prefered. I've changed to 3g. It seems to be working.
Can somebody try ?
I solved my problem during the calls when i unchecked the improvement of voice
If you have tried all the other options and still not working but you have v4a sound mod installed, this might help - http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/help/viper4android-deactivates-mic-t3124764
I had same problem after update to lollipop and try everything mentioned before and nothing helped. Then I low down speaker volume ( volume key down) while call is active and that worked for me. I suppose that lollipop have some problem with duplexer. Level of sound in speaker is litle low but at least caller can understand me normally.

Greetings, I hope you are fine.
I'll just let you know my experience with that, I had a similar one to yours. Instead my voice was stuttering and ghostly, like something came out of Paranormal activities. xD
The only solution I found to this was that it was a problem with the hardware itself, IE. the mic of your phone. Maybe you wanna give your phone to the warranty company and see what they say about it. In my case, they fixed it and it's working fine now.
I hope I helped
Yours.

Notification sound "fading in" effect

Hello xda,
Any time I receive a text or mail the notification sound starts low but quickly ramps up in volume. Is anyone experiencing this as well? Is there a way to set this so it's loud from the start? Hope that makes sense.
I appreciate your help and time
I noticed when the phone rings sounds only by the lower speaker, and sound very low and muffled.

Many others (including myself) have noticed and posted about this issue here (though not enough in my opinion). It's not restricted to notifications and ringtones either, it happens with *all* sounds on the phone.
Unfortunately, there is no way to fix it. Different sound drivers, updated firmware, build.prop settings... Nothing seems to get rid of this "speaker protection" crap. I am still hopeful to someday see a mod or firmware update that addresses it though, because after trying all those different things, I've run out of ideas.
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I've also noticed that, it sounds fine when I preview notifications and ringtones, but when the phone actually rings it is a lot more quiet and muted. It does appear that the top speaker is not being used for ringtones. I'll try to call htc, let's see what they say.
Called HTC, spoke with a girl who sounded like she was following some sort of flowchart. Needless to say she couldn't help and concluded that it was a defective hardware. I tried to explain that others are having the same issue and it appears to be a bug, but I don't think she understood. They are sending me a new phone. I'm sure the new phone will have the same issue. Maybe if more people call HTC with this issue, they will figure it out.

Hi there
the same problem here, without any mod, crack o root solution. But the difference were the answer from HTC technical support: " this is a technical and engineering design, it´s not a bug", this mean: " f**** you costumer, and again, a new dissapoint from HTC. I has tried in several forums, here in XDA and another ones: nothing for to do, i loose my faith in the HTC 10. It´s very frustating because a little detail ( the ringtone volume and quality) destroy a overall experience

OH, so they know about it? This is a technical and engineering design fu**-up. My notifications are half the volume of the M8. If that is their answer, then I will probably return my phone.
Any solutions yet?
On mine it rings from the bottom speaker for about 3 rings, quiet, then ramps up and uses the top speaker too. With V4a on now once the top speaker kicks in it's very loud. It gives me a chance to answer it before it blasts me out.
I just bought a new htc 10 and quickly noticed this annoying sound fading in issue, searched online and this seems to be the only place talked about it with no solution, does everybody else really okay with this??
I guess at least it sounded fine when using headphone, but with this speaker fading crap everything sound like its echoing right now. This NEEDS to get solved.
Any solution ?
I came here to search for any ways to turn this "feature" off (and that's what it is, despite how nobody asked for it or wanted it). Looks like nobody has found any solutions. But here's my theory anyway:
The "fading in" volume effect must be a function of the Boom Sound software. It's a noise gate. And it sucks. For instance, try listening to any music that has any hard hits around any silence (a good example is "Brain Stew" by Green Day). It's really annoying.
I wish somebody could figure out how to disable the Boom Sound software altogether.
According to Google, https://www.google.com/search?newwi...0i22i30k1j33i22i29i30k1j33i21k1.0.leWX0kmgR6I it's a known Feature of Android 5, and many people complain about it, but there is no way to disable it.
Some people can workaround the issue, on some rom, with some apps or players; there is no universal solution.
In the best case, some chat app will not bell if they are already full screen; and this is an issue for me because if I have my phone plugged, and display timeout is 1h, then, it won't bell for incoming messages, and if I am >1m from it, I won't know people are talking to me. That's why I try to always make all apps always bell. But, if I am listening to music, the permanent bell that comes with intense chat may turn the music off all the time.
I not sure if I shall downgrade my phone to Android 4, 2.2, or 1.8 ...
.. arg, I am stupid, those versions have never been ported for my most recent phone.

Is there any real audio issue with Mi Max (Prime)?

Premise: I know I just opened another topic (but this is a completely different question) and that there are several articles (and potential "fixes") around on XDA and elsewhere, but I see people having the following issues and others not (especially in reviews)
Hi everyone,
I have a simple question: is Mi Max Prime suffering from low sound volume (i.e. below the average)? if yes, is that probleme so severe that - for example - you may not hear the alarm clock or a phone call in speaker mode?
I know there are a couple of fixes around but I also saw many people not solving the issue with those.
Thank you in advance

I'd say, testing any alarm (default one should work) and a pop song music (at your choice).
Here too is night. Feel free to do it when you have a moment
I'm a good guy to ask. Quite deaf, use my phone for an alarm clock. I can hear people when they "force" their voice in close proximity, otherwise break out the pen and paper if I don't have fresh hearing aid batteries.
Alarm clock (alarmy) scares me so bad I try to beat my rise time just to turn it off. Loud, oh hell yea, it's loud.
Talking on the phone I can just make out sounds, without my hearing aids. That's says good things about the phone, because normally I get nothing.
You can always root and edit the mixer_paths in system_ect. Done it many times on my Samsung phones, but as I say, no need (for me) on the Max.
Just got a Mi Max a few days ago, the ring volume I will call it just enough, The only issue is when I hear music with headphone and turn on the Mi Sound effect then the volume will drop a lot, I need to turn off the effect and re-plug the headphone to resume the volume.
The volume has gotten better since Miui 8 and it's good on my RR ROM. YouTube is hit or miss depending on the video you watch. A lot of videos are uploaded with low sound and some with louder sound. Everything else seems okay to me although nothing compares to the sheer loudness of the speakers on my Nexus 6P.
