MMS 600K limit? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

On the Cingular 8525 rom the MMS limit is 600k, does anyone know how to enable that on any of the WM6 roms?

Use your favourite registry editor and navigate to the following key
HKLM/Software/Arcsoft/Arcsoft MMS UA/Config/UI/SizeLimit
Change SendCount to 4 (or whatever the next number is)
Create a number key called SetLimit4 (or whatever the next number is on your ROM, much match the SendCount) and key in 614400, appararently, no need to soft-reset but just open the MMS application.

Thanks! but its create a Dword Value called "SendLimit*" in my case.
Also the cingular website tutorial for setting up MMS says to set it to 300k, will other phones still recieve your MMS if its 600K?

You could start testing by sending a mms to yourself

the 300 is for edge, the 600 is for 3G... you can set this value to anything you want, however if i recall correctly the system will reject anything over 600, i could be wrong though, has been a long time since i have even sent a MMS

(REQUEST) - Cab with MMS setings

Hello :
Im trying to do a cab file with my Operator configs for mms and gprs !
Can you post yours here that work with WM6 ? I will try to change to Portuguese TMN operator !
LRM
If you do a search on Cingular setting you will get this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296991&highlight=Cingular+WAP+MediaNet+Settings.cab
Also i am interested to this project...
I've looked inside the cab... but it says WAP settings.
I (we) want to backup operator GPRS INTERNET settings & MMS settings.
Are all those regkeys assigned to this settings?
So we have to backup
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Comm\RasBook\
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Destinations
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers
and its related subkeys after setup the connections?

The above are correct but if you also want MMS settings then you will also need
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1
many thanks...
There's some website. that some member linked to this week. it was htc freak or htc fourms htc, and something with an F and it had a lot of carriers customizations.
Not that that helps...but you know
I'm having an awful time getting my MMS settings to work in WM6. I've followed all the documentation on Cingular's site and I'm 99% sure I have everything correct.
I get a message saying that it needs to disconnect from my current connection to send/receive mms messages and asks if it wants to proceed. This is bad because I must recieve MMS messages no matter what, like I used to be able to in WM5, to get pages from work.
Not to mention, even if I answer Yes, the messages don't seem to come through. It's also random, I can get MMS messages, just not all the time. So the settings seem to be right. =(
if you have any of the original cabs you can extract the XML files out them and make 1 XML and use wince cab manager and import the xml to provision all of the settings, however if you do that make sure you remove the lines that state "WAP PROVISIONG DOC" wince does not like that line.
Is there a repository of Operator GPRS/MMS Settings cabs anywhere on the net?
I think it would be great if xda had one since we all put new roms on our phones like we change socks.
I would like to have ones for T-mobile US and Rogers Canada (you don't even want to know why I have a phone for there).
Thanks

the xml is located inside the cab and from what i have seen its always named "CM_Entries.xml" there is almost always another file inside that you will want to check out to see if there are registry entries being changed its called "Platformxxx.reg"
Here is a screenshot of the shortstring keypad cab to show you what i am talking about.

Yeah, that thing is really annoying.
Try changing your MMS settings. From "Work" to "internet" or such.
See this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1172421#post1172421

MMS settings for XDA IIs - Please help

I have a XDA IIs that when unlocked and i started using a T-Mobile sim did not send or recieve MMS. It kept trying to revert to O2 settings but would not accept T-Mobile settings at all.
I have now upgraded the operating system/ROM to Mobile 5 (having no probs at all on that... thanks ppl) and when i g to messaging i do not even have an option for MMS... Only Text and E-Mail.
I called T-Mobile tech guys and they had no answer either.
Anybody out there know how i can install the settings and configere it to T-Mobile MMS settings.
I know there are smaller PDA's out there but really dont wanna get rid of this as it has a decent screen size so you can actually see all the details on the map when running tomtom.
Look forward to hearing a solution soon

MMS and internet settings
you dont say if it is pay and go or contract or even mention what wm5 rom you have installed, maybe the rom has no mms built in to it?
Anyway here are all the uk mobile internet and mms settings cabs
just unrar the uk gprs settings file and copy the t-mobile cab over to your device and run it, that will set it up, but as i have already mentioned if the rom doesnt support mms then none of this will do much good as you will have to install arcsoft mms to get it to work
Not sure if this version is compatable with your rom but worth a try
http://rapidshare.com/files/93853581/Arcsoft_MMS_4281_2_.cab
P.S I forgot to mention you have to send at least one MMS with t-mobile to be able to receive them
Btw i used to live in Hemel Hempstead and work in st albans
Hope it works for you
Thanks for your advise.
The ROM version installed is 5.03.02 WWE ROM Date 03/02/05 and it is on t-mobile contract.
You meion you live in St Albans...l so do I in London colney... as i dont know much about what im doing when it comes to messing withj the system stuff could we meet up and you do it for me at some stage and i'll be willing to sort you out a little drink for it?
Billy B
sorry i dont live in st albans, i said i USED to live in hemel and WORK in st albans but that was in 1995, i now live in manchester.
As for setting it up just install arcsoft MMS and then install the t-mobile cab and it will set it up for you.
Thanks mate
No probs.... i think even a simpleton like me cal manage that.
If MMS still doesnt work you may need to change a couple of settings for pay and go ,if it isnt a contract sim
let me know if you got it working

well depends on what version of arcsoft mms you have installed, v5 and above click on messages then click on menu then click on mms settings then click servers and you add/amend or create a new server there. on version four it is exactly the same but to enter the server options you go about it slightly differently. It has been a while since i used four so i cant remember exactly how. once you are in the server options page in arcsoft then create a new server with your settings and also make sure you set it as the default server, otherwise it wont work.
I need these settings for the USA, this is for use on a standard plan, not pay as you go.
BTW, the password, is it the same password used to log in to the T-Mobile website?
Thanks in advance,
Tom

I get this too but I receive MMS messages. But! When I say I receive them...it's like hours to a day after the person sent the MMS.
Here do this step by step.
# 1
First, create several, new GPRS connections.
* Start > Settings > Connections > GPRS
* The first (named T-Mobile data) connects to WAP Network with an access point of wap.voicestream.com.
* The second (T-Mobile data 2) connects to Work with an access point of wap.voicestream.com.
* The third (T-Mobile MMS) connects to WAP Network with an access point of wap.voicestream.com.
* This third may be optional.
# 2
Second, create the proxies necessary.
* Done > More > Proxy
* The first (named T-Zones proxy) connects from WAP Network to The Internet with a Proxy of 216.155.165.50:8080 of type HTTP.
* The second (named T-Zones proxy 2) connects from Work to The Internet with a Proxy of 216.155.165.50:8080 of type HTTP.
# 3
Third, set up MMS (picture/audio messaging)
* Start > Messaging
* Scroll to MMS
* Menu > Settings > Menu > MMSC Settings
* Edit the sample or create a new setting file
* MMSC URL = http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
* WAP gateway = 216.155.165.50
* Port = 8080
* Connect via = WAP Network
* Use the maximum "Max. sending size" available. 300k is generally considered T-Mobile's maximum network allowance, but on a new ROM, it may require editing the registry to see anything above 100k in the dropdown menu here.
* WAP version = WAP 2.0
Still an error message
I'm just building off what you've said here, and I followed the steps on correcting the problem with MMS "error synchronizing." But it still does it, though it does seem to take some milliseconds longer to give me that message.
Considering the 100k limit on my phone, would it not download an image if it was larger than that?
Perhaps you could walk me through the registry editing process, or perhaps you know if t-mobile intends on releasing a 6.1 upgrade for the excalibur?
Thanks for any help.
Question about proxy settings
I have the setting set up correctly, but I need to know if I need to delete the other two setting. There is one named HTTP-{3F...etc and another one that is named null-corp. Should they be deleted or left alone? I am asking because when I check my T-mobile bill online it shows entries for (0) data used on specific days that I know I was on the mobile web...I'm wondering if those extra proxy's are allowing them to see me using those dataports? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

This was extremely helpful, especially the second step, everywhere I looked seemed to say CLICK on MMS, not just highlight it and click menu... I couldn't find MMSC Settings...
On that note, I too would like to see the registry steps for making this larger than 100k if anyone has it...
Thanks again!

The Wiki has lots of good info but here you go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2193853&postcount=4
Thanks Stylez
I found my own answer to "questions about proxy"
I don't know if anyone else was wondering, but I did remove the original proxy's that were on my phone after the RickyWatts upgrade and it did stop the tracking of my internet use. I wasn't being charged for it, but I did not want to be tracked either. All I have left in the proxy setting are the two T-Mobile proxy settings for the hack.
Also....I tried the registry change for changing the max load limit to 300k for MMS and could not get it to work. I did exactly what the post suggested, but when I was in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ArcSoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\MMSC Setting\SampleMMSC folder...I did not have a WAP1recvdefault that I could change. So I guess this was the reason I could not get it to work. I could not receive any MMS after trying this edit. Restore it back to original settings and everthing is working fine again, but only 100k max. Oh well....
Im lost
Ive followed all the instructions and I cannt seem to get any MMS messages.
Someone please help the newbie.
Thanks in advance

I have the same issue. Anyone find a solution.
I can send MMS messages, and can even receive ones that I send to myself, but don't receive those from other carriers, or ones that I send from my email account.
Soulution:
as i posted in the other thread:
http://tmobileuspublic.wdsglobal.com/
use it, it works. youll still get the error thing but the mms sending does work and i have been recieving my messages as well.
Ok, can anyone explain this...
If I go to MMS and hit send/receive I get the syncing error.
But I can still receive MMS?
what happens when those who have the original T-mobile ROM do this?

searching through old threads yesterday I came across a post that said send/receive only works with email not with MMS, thus the error.
I did everything everybody's post about on how to fix this stupid mms problem and my Dash is still being retarded and not matching up. Am I going to have to just reflash my phone and start from scratch?
I have the same problem, internet works, text msgs work, just the mms won't and I KNOW my settings are fine! I keep getting the "error synchronizing" message.. it seems to be a generic problem, not one with the network... no idea what to do

MMS :(

Just to look at two...
yes ive heard of google and i woulnt have posted here unless i already tryed that. so i figured out i can end mms but cant receive
I wonder what you typed in the search box then.
First, set up the MMS connection:
Select Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Connections
Then select the Advanced Tab -> Select Networks -> New
Enter "Rogers MMS" (or some other name), then head to the Modem Tab and hit New again.
Enter "MMS" (or whatever you want, again), select Cellular Line (GPRS) (not just Cellular Line). Enter "media.com" as the APN.
The User Name is "media", the password is "mda01". Hit Finish.
Now, to set up the messaging app:
Open Messaging (I have it mapped to the default hard key) -> Menu -> Tools -> Options.
Tap on the existing MMS account (if you don't have one, you need to install the MMS app) to edit it, and make sure that the following options are set:
Retrieve messages immediately is checked
Attempts before giving up is 2
Photo resolution is QVGA (320x240).
Head over to the Servers tab and edit the existing entry (if there is one) or create a new one. Enter the following settings:
Server name: Rogers MMS (this one's up to you)
Gateway: 172.25.0.107
Port number: 8080
Server address: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
Connect via: Rogers MMS
Sending size limitation: 250K
WAP Version: WAP 2.0

It don't matter what version of WinMo you are running because what count are the IP number and all. You would use the same codes with a V3.

thanks youve been quite helpful. I did everying it said and i can still only send them and not receive them it says message to be downloaded has expired or the screen will light up and nuthing will heppen.
Try to also check the other settings for say how much you set to download, from who and so fourth.
MMS do expire after a while if the person you sent it to can't view them.
If it lights up and does nothing, it could be that it is trying to send it again, or is trying to receive or sending out again and managed to do so.
well the max size i can make my message size to is 100 not 200 mabe thats got something to do about it. also when i hit send/recaive its just says errror syncronizing.

Every body gets the error when pressing send\recieve as the service is automatic there is no need to ever press that.
same here..
Mine is doing the same thing..Tmobile..reflashed last night to Kavana, manually put in all settings (mms / proxy). Phone sends MMS fine but will not receive them. Phone lights up when receiving MMS but never comes through. I will manually send/receive, and occasionally I see the envelope flash up with the down arrow, but it usually does nothing after that point...
I am also getting an 'Info' alert - Unable to receive your message(s). Your message(s) notification(s) will remain in your Inbox. - Press OK.
Hope I am not hijacking your thread, just sounds like we are having very similar issues.
yeah its seems like were just missing something small

T-Mobile MMS Fix w/Tiny Picture Fix & 1MB MMS Limit CAB's

Well just did some testing on two devices & made sure these settings work for T-Mobile MMS so I exported the REG & CAB'ed it up for an easy fix. Also, while I was at it I made a 1MB MMS Send Limit CAB. They are attached below.
Just added a new CAB for 1MB limit & edited the fix CAB to add the tiny picture issue we T-Mobile users have been having.

I dont use mms much at all, but when i have i never noticed any problems. what exactly does this fix and improve upon?
HTC Connection Setup wizard is out of date. It gives the wrong server for MMS & therefore MMS doesn't work. This has been a running issue with T-Mobile & HTC's Connection tool on multiple devices over the yrs. I hardly ever use MMS myself so never bothered with it, but my room mate who does use it has a WM device now that I flashed a custom ROM on. The bad thing is that you never know it doesn't work. It just never sends the message or receives them. You actually had to double check & make sure it sent to realize it was broken. Internet & everything else else works just fine.
attaching 5MB file is not going to do you any good if the network doesn't support it. I did a registry hack on my tilt to attach 1MB file. while it's possible to attach the file to the mms the network will not allow the mms to be sent. at&t's network only allows maximum mms file to be 600kb.
you are here too?
welcome my friend
T-Mobile MMS limit
T-mobile USA has a limit on how large the file can be. The limit is 1024kb. The network will not allow any files larger to be sent through the network
there is also a limit placed on the size received by other networks, while T-Mobile has a 1MB limit, if you are trying to send to someone on another network you will need to adhere to their limits or the message will not be received. I try to keep my MMS messages below 500k just to make sure they are actually received.
Hi,
I have read in a different thread that this fix could also solve our SMS sending issue (with NRG roms at least). Would you confirm that there is reasons why it would fix SMS (you are refering to MMS in this topic). Thanks.

I do not know, I don't use NRG;s ROM. You have orange listed as your service provider so i would say don't use this. This is for T-Mobile's MMS issues with most ROM's. If someone said this does work, than I would ask them, as I have no clue.
This doesn't work.
yes it does... I used it every flash & get MMS's all the time...
Added a new MMS Fix CAB that now has the fix for receiving super tiny pictures.
works
works for me awesome!!! Thank you
which one works to make the size bigger to around 200kb i tried those fixes you listed on a hd2 i am not sure if the phone is supported but i thought it be worth a try.

Just removed the old CAB's. One is for the fix the other just sets the max size for sending to 1 MB & is optional. It should work just fine on HD2 as it's only reg edits. You need to soft reset afterwards for the reg changes to take effect. Afterwards you'll (should, might still be a little smaller as I think the reg is for a QVGA device, but looked big for me when I tested sending a pic from my room mate's Crackberry.) receive the pic as what ever size it was sent.
Not working for me
so this will fix the fact that i cant send ot recieve MMS also?

It includes the reg to make MMS work, meaning you can send out & receive MMS messages. It also adds the reg to fix the tiny picture problem in MMS's. The second CAB is optional & gives a 1 MB limit to MMS via reg edits.
Note: MMS is still limited by your service provider. So, if it's less than 1 MB, than it'll send at that limit.
just tried it and it worked. thanx!!

I think that when folks say it doesn't work, it's because they are using HTC's Messaging client. Corect me if I am wrong, but this is for Arcsoft (Microsoft) MMS, right? I think HTC's client uses Jataayu.....
