Help me please - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Yes you may call me a noobie or what ever you like at the end of the post...
Well i got my Orange SPV M3100 about a week and a half ago, everything was going fine, then i heard that windows has realised windows mobile 6, so i downloaded WMXDA 0.20 last week the phone was working good but in recent days everything just crashes, i would like to know if i should downgrade back to the orange setting and how that would be possible, or should i change the radio rom and how would that be possible? i have listed below the current setting/os of my phone and would be very greatful of the help that i recheve...
ROM version: 3.22.110.1
ROM date: 01/04/07
Radio version: 1.16.00.00
Protocol version: 32.53.7018.01H
Thanks a ton in advance for the help!

if the phone was running ok but is now crashing it is probably some of the software you have installed. Try un-installing some (or all) of it or maybe even a hard reset.

Do you have any apps installed on the memory card. A lot of people are having problems with regular lock ups and freezes if apps with a today plugin are installed to memory card.
Also it seems that many people are having problems with certain spb software.
Would recommend a hard reset and then install your apps and test one by one to find the culprit.
S.K.

cheers guys...could you let me know how/what i need to upgrade my radio rom? thanks

Dude, you just posted that your ROM was screwed and now you want to mess with your radio!! You really like to live on the deep end. I suggest you take some time and read the wiki. Its not just something experienced people say to newbee's, its something that can save you a lot of heart ache and trouble.
In my advice, you took the wrong steps. I flashed my device with the latest ROM from my carrier that had the radio that I wanted. THEN I flashed my device with the hacked ROM.

OK noobie first thing, Un-noobify yourself by
1) Reading http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286755 about what may likely happen if you do not arm your brain with enough imformation... trust me, it's worth spending the time reading.
2) Hard-SPL your phone with Oli's bootloader, if you do not know how, find the forum thread pertaining to it.
3) Upgrade your radio to 1.27, 1.35 or even try the new Trinity 1.38. (without writing over the 1.10 Oli SPL) If you do not know how the information is there in the WIKI. Apparently WM6 does not work too well with the older radios.
I ran XDA .20 on my M3100 fine with no crashes using both Radio 1.27 & 1.35. Just about to try the Trinity 1.38.
If you are tempted to miss any of the steps. DON'T. Happy reading.

Upgrading a Cingular 8125 to use a Motorolla HT820

I just bought a HT820 for my Cingular 8125, after being told it would allow me to listen to music wirelessly. Of course everyone knows this wont happen without the A2DP BT profile installed. So why hasnt HTC included this in the last rom? I upgraded to it tonight expecting them to have included it since it's availible.. but NO... *grumbles*
ANYWAYS, since i cant do it, I'm looking into a non-approved rom.. but seriously I'm new to PPC's and dont have a clue. I've read through alot of posts and noticed stuff about G3 and G4, as well as talk about the phones being locked or not.
My questions are, how can you tell if it is locked? How can you tell what G you have? (I'm guessing that might stand for generation?)
Seriously, I dont want too much of a change that involves risks. All i'm looking for is any current rom with what i need in it, and the knowledge of how to get it on my phone. Any help? (And please dont flame me for asking something that might have been asked before.. there are WAY to many posts to sort through on here to find my answers).
Please help peeps. From what i can tell on here, you are all very nice people. I didnt see one rude post. So please... keep up the friendlyness? ^_^
Edit: oh and i forgot. the numbers i get when i startup my phone are (in order):
2.25
2.25
2.25.11
2.25.11.1
and under device info:
Rom Ver. 2.25.11.1 WWE
Rom date 5/11/06
Radio version 02.25.11
Protocol Ver. 4.1.13.12
ExtRom Ver. 2.25.11.102
Model: WIZA100
I have the same PDA
and same questions. Is it possible or not to unlock the PDA?
Thank you!
yes you can unlock the 8125 that have the g3 chip. that means if your phone at the beggining page has 2.25.0001 it means you have a g4 chip and not much modding can be done to them. so i beg of you not to do anything to a g4 8125. but anyways to unlock them use the farias way. just search lockwiz and look for farias page. after you do that flash the newest rom from htc. thaway your phone works properly. after that search a2dp and follow the instructions. i think ive given you guys more help than i ever received when i first started on this webpage. Good luck to you guys.

Flash the OEM Stock ROM Before EVERY Upgrade?

I know people have repeatedly said it's best to flash a stock ROM before upgrading to your cooked rom, but do you do this before every ROM change? Wasn't sure of the protocol...thanks
Each and every time - normal procedure for me to avoid hard resets, etc.
Same thing for the wizards also.......
Edit - as corrected by other responses, not a standard procedure for flashing roms, just a procedure I follow due to hard reset issues previously.
Thanks for the quick reply!
I actually have 1 more question...does it matter WHICH rom you flash? like do you need to flash the rom that the cooked rom is most based off of?
I have been using this one before flashes: RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_3.62.502.3_6275_1.54.07.00_108_UOOS_SVN05_Ship
but just realized i may need to have a stock rom that is closer to what i am flashing
That's the oem rom I've been using.....
Should someone respond with something better, then we both will have a new base for flashing.
Have a good one
ROM minus the radio
I believe someone had posted once that OEM ROM extracted without the radio...i'd like to find that so i'm not reflashing my radio too every time...
Is this really true? I haven't been to active on the board the last few months, but I don't remember seeing that prior to this. What's the technical reason behind it? I don't know how many dozens of times I've flashed my phone...haven't had an official ROM on it since the day I bought the thing.
I haven't and so far I have not had any hard reset with any ROMs that I have tried for the last year. My latest being MaRaHox 5.02.
I guess it is best practice to do so, best to flash with your carrier shipped rom, and then upgrade/downgrade your radio, then your desired rom that you wish to keep.

Yea it is true, if you had used a search before posting a new thread you might have found it! Here is the link!
The only time I flash a OEM ROM is if I am going from BIGSTORAGE to non BIGSTORAGE. Thats just me though and I haven't had any problems.
Fortunately, I never needed to flash the official. But it's the best thing to do for those having HR & Bigstorage flashing issues...
I use Vp3G 6.0 ROM as my baseline. It is close to the standard AT&T ROM. The biggest problem is goingfrom a big storage ROM back to a "standard" ROM. However, I baseline my device each time I flash a new ROM because it only takes a few minutes to do so.

You must be joking...
first of all - i am not an idiot, i know how to search, i just don't always know how to FIND - i did search...for like 20 minutes!! i couldn't find the exact answer to that question. Of course YOU knew where to find that thread cause u were posting in it earlier!
second - i don't see the reason people get SO offended over a repost?! of course if it is something that is asked EVERY day and it is your first post and u are like, which is the best rom...ok, you deserve to hear it...but people love to flame you over asking a question when it takes 2 seconds of someones time to answer and it could take me literally 20 minutes or more to find the specific answer i am looking for. Plus other people got benefit from my asking again so what is the bloody harm??
Third - you got me all excited and didn't link me to what i was looking for! I saw someone post the OEM ATT ROM but without the radio. So, Mr. Smart guy, please search your loving heart out and help me find it...please! Cause i have no clue how to find that file
EDIT: Whoops, ok i just read where you explained how to do the extraction...that does help actually thanks
Flashing an official rom prior to flashing WM6.1 roms may be a good a practice. however, on my part, i never needed to do that. I just flashed PdaViet's WM6.1 rom from Shaminix's WM6 rom and it is still stable and fast. No hard resets whatsover. I am also using an ATT 8525 handset.
It seems as though people are asking if this is standard practice or not... The answer is simple... It is not standard practice for everyone... It is completely up to the individual, if this is what they want to do....
I suffer from RFWS (Rom Flashing Withdrawal Syndrome) and due to my disorder, I usually flash several times a week and NEVER do I flash an OEM rom before flashing the rom I actually want... I also don't have any issues while doing it this way...
Now, with that being said, I can understand why one would flash when going from BigStorage to NonBigStorage or Vice-Versa, but that is about it...
/rantoff
I just flash the rom i want to try out , no official roms for me ,if it isn't an illegal rom it just doesnt't feel right
i used to flash everyday, but then the big white van with the blue flashing lights took me away to the big house

thanks to the ELITE team, ROM chefs, and everyone that made upgrading our diamonds possible!
Niceeeeeeeeeeeee
Looks good mate. Keep it coming!
My one issue with this (and only a small one!) is that .info sites are notorious for scammers. Obviously thats not a scam site but you don't wanna be tarred with same brush!
really? ha well, the main reason is that a .info is $0.99/year haha (maybe its cheap since they're only used by scammers now?)... and i don't think it hurt trinityguides being on an .info domain.. but if accessing a .com would make you feel more at home, then donate away!
LOL 99c - no wonder they are used by scammers.... !!
Looks really nice. Keep up the good work.
Hmm.. I know it sounds very stupid and yes it is.
I do not know which version I had before. It was one of the earlie Expansys Models build for UK. Does someone know which SPL was the original one?
Cheers
hmm... i don't know about that. wouldn't it be the one on the official UK ROM that's circulating? or is that without SPL?
It was an original UK-ROM. So I guess a UK device.
Bought her ein germay from a company who had the device already 2 weeks ago.
Everything was in english and the default region was set to english (uk).
Maybe I ned to have a look at the box. Maybe I can find more info about the device there.

Really nice.
Some basics need to be Explained:
SPL,Radio,ROM differences, three parts.
What is a ROM
What is SPL and Bootloader
Why do we need HardSPL
What happens when we Flash Rom
What happens with hard reset
What happens with soft reset
What is the Radio Rom
Internal Storage and Memory difference
These basics will make a newbe more familiar with procedure.
IT's very well explained how HARDSPL install works, but when never done this, no-one will know what HARDSPL is and a newbie never is sure enough about it to just flash without asking us. And we want this Explanations, so one does not have to ask
Please help! Diamond will not boot
Hi
I did something really stupid. I was having battery drain issues with my new Touch Diomand, so I logged into HTC website to get the firmware upgrade.
I used to have an HTC Touch, and that was the only firmware available on their site, at the time I did not realise that it was the wrong one for me !
So I started installing it, it failed, and now I get the rainbow screen at startup.
I have tried hard reset, no joy. I have called HTC, they cannot help. No-one here in NZ services these phones, so I am stuck.
I have tried installing the firmware update from modmydiamond.info, but I STILL get the same problem, it just shows the rainbow screen and I cannot continue from there...
On a PC,this would be a bootstrap issue, I have no idea what to do (other than buying an iphone) any wisdom ??
That site is really nice...it introduced me to the HTCD flash world...
thanks.
Link named Hard-SPL 1.40 points to version 1.30
Hi,
On page Home -> Upgrade Guides -> Upgrade to Hard-SPL it says:
Download a Hard-SPL from the forums here
Hard-SPL 1.40 Olinex SIGNED
I succesfully downloaded and installed the Olinex Hard-SPL, but when I enter
the bootloader te tri-colour screen reads SPL-1.30 OliNex i.s.o. 1.40. What
did I do wrong? What are the differences between 1.30 and 1.40?
Thanks in advance,
Flat
P.S.: Great site!!

arg, flashed wm6....

hey guys, sorry in advance for the newb question.... ive been reading as much as i can about flashing.... long story short i figured it out got my wm5 flashed to wm6 (tytn I)
RUU_Hermes_DOPODASIA_WWE_3.54.707.3_6275_1.47.00.10_108_Ship
but... now im having call trouble. all my calls are going to voicemail before reaching me only 10% get through. im in full signal area. does the wm6 rom flash the radio as well? and if so does anyone know which rogers radio rom uses or even how to check the radio version? i see lots of ppl talking about it, but few how to find the version number, thanks in advance.
You may want to check the Wiki but I would definately upgrade your radio. That would most likely fix the issue. You can also try resetting and reinstalling the rom. Good luck.
so is that a yes on flashing a wm6 rom changes the radio? i still need to know where to check radio version. also ive searched the wiki up and down, but ill try again
also the wiki doesnt show my orignal software
1.34.631.14
or what radio stack it came with
Yes, flashing a WM6 rom will most likely change the radio. When you reboot your phone look at the very first screen and it should tell you the radio version. You should also be able to check while in windows under the settings / Device Information.
thank you. okay so im using 1.47.00.10 now.... does anyone know the standard rogers one? i guess i shoulda wrote all system info out b4 i flashed
it seems i found the orignal radio is 1.42 for rogers but it isnt on this site...
btw every wiki link on all the radios are dead...
okay update
so i got radio 1.48 which is supposed to be good working, and got the rogers cab and data working but my calls are still not coming through... under the call menu it says UMTS rogers but i think it should just be gsm.... anyone have any idea
fix: ended up flashing
HTC_TyTN_WWE_3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.00.10_108
fixed all the problems. if you have a rogers tytn i suggest staying away from the HK rom.
ty everyone

Take a look at the ROM package you are flashing...and USE CAUTION.!!!
Each time you flashed a new ROM you flashed a new Radio (not recommended frequently) , the radio you flashed which caused issues was 1.47.00.10, and notice on the official HTC ROM you flashed it includes radio 1.48.00.00. The ROM made no difference - do a bit more reading up sir since the radios are sepearate from most ROMs which are released on here.

how to flash stock telstra to use optus

Hi All,
Sorry, there is so much information on this site, i'm lost.
Can someone please provide links to what I need to download and install to upgrade a stock standard telstra diamond touch so I can get it working correctly with Optus?
Thanks.
OK, i've upgraded the bootloader to the hard spl, and the radio version is already at 1.00.25.06 (do you think its worth downgrading to 1.00.25.05??)
Now, what's the most popular rom for the diamond? What do people suggest?
Thanks.

I'm using Dutty's ROM at the mement. But I will be using this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438313
when its bugs get sorted out since its based on the Diamond 2 thingo or whatever so it'll have some new features.
I'm the same as you. Bought the Telstra Diamond and chucked in my Optus SIM. Pretty much just have to any ROM and you won't have to see the Telstra branding everywhere.
That ROM you linked looks rather spic. What issues are stopping you from flashing that ROM now?

To be honest I didn't find out about that ROM until just before I found your post, Mainly time has been stopping me and the hassle, and I read that there are some little bugs that it has when skimming through the thread but there was nothing that was bad enough to make me not upgrade. Just don't want to Flash to the ROM and then have a new revision come out two days later which is better.
Think I'll upgrade to this ROM right not though
Thanks for your post.
I decided to use the rom that you linked to, and found found it a 1000% improvement from the Tesltra one.
Only issue I have found so far is trouble connecting to wifi networks. Will have a bit more of a play soon.
Apart from that, it's good.
I 'downgraded' to the 1.00.25.05 radio and seemed to get alot better battery life from it.
Regarding ROMs, I agree almost anything is better than the stock Telstra one
