Text Timestamp - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hey Guys, as soon as I got my TyTn I upgraded it to WM6. My old WM5 Prophet had timestamped text messages but I can't for the life of me see where to turn this on now. Where is it please?
Thanks.

sent or recieved?
either one...
the scroll bar (in the message) is pre scrolled down a bit...just move it up a tad, it should be all there

Oh. My. God.
How did I not notice that! Thanks man

Missed call notification on today?

Is this possible?
If you mean a today plugin, then I am sure you could find something on PocketGear, for example.
However, there already is a status icon displayed on the bar at the top of the today screen which will show a telephone handse, plus exclamation mark if you have any missed calls. Clicking on the icon displays a message bubble from which you can view missed calls.
I hope this helps.
Yes, I meant a today plugin.
I was fiddling with Novosec Facelift.
Since it can't display notification icons when you skin the start bar... i thought a plugin would help....
After testing, I realise it is a good app (Facelift), since it makes everything look much better (menus, skin your bars to have a fullscreen today screen...etc), but isn't yet wm2003 compatible.
Wisbar helps but it just isnt the same...
Pity.
Thanks for the tip anyway.
This should be the official htc forum (huuuge lol)
Great forum!
try phonedashboard, it has many display on today screen.
http://www.jgui.net/todays/
have two solutions for you
My favorite is sunnysoft.
Just a small plugin (2 lines) with missed calls AND sms. Phone today seemed nice too.
Jgui isn't bad too....now it comes in 2 flavours. MY|Phone (with no sms support).
and MY|Phone Calls SE, with support but slow in getting signal when reseting, and the cell power meter is cool but I dont need it.
PhoneToday is quite good too, but couldn't get hold of a recent version to try... full version anyway....
Thanks for all the help.

Text Message- TO: Smart Dial Missing

Hi
Recently upgraded my XDA Orbit to WM6 using one of the ROMs from TUPISDIN ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314675 )and all is well apart from an annoying missing feature:
When creating a new SMS and typing in the name of the recipient, previously it used to suggest names from my contacts after 2 characters & more. This now does not do this and I have to select to add a recipient! Is this just mine or does this happen on all WM6 installs?
My smart dialing works fine so it really is just SMS.
Hope someone can suggest ideas as this is a small but irritating feature

Hi there DMan, well the answer you are looking for is within keyboard options you have changed you "suggest word(s) after * letters" increased to more than 3, ruduce this option back to 2 and contacts will display again when typing in the recipient.
Errr...... OK, I am DMan, I found the answer after playing around for quite a while, then couldnt see how to delete this thread! Sad I know but at least I have helped someone, even if it is me

WM6.1 Threaded txt

For those of you who are playing with WM6.1 have you been messing with the threaded txt? I have used the troe version for so long I admit I miss some stuff.
Mainly the new threaded app doesnt tell me how many characters I have typed so I don't know when I have went over the 160 limit.. I have also noticed that sms backup doesn't seem to work correctly it backs up my txt messages and when I restore them they r missing and not threaded.
Another thing I like about threo threaded is MMS/SMS are all together instead of seperate..
Last thing is the txt don't have dates next to them. They have time but no dates. I like to scroll back and know what day and time something was txt to me.
Anyone else got any complaints?
Maybe some of these things can be corrected with a addon or something.
you can see how many characters at the upper corner.
I two think PALM did a better job.
I agree
Me myself being a Treo 650 owner and a hacked threaded sms user on my 8525 would have to agree the WinMo 6.1 threaded sms falls short.
No smilies
There is a short delay when sending msgs
No timestamp(with dates)
When restoring from PIM backup msgs are missing/ out of order....I can only see the msgs I've sent not the msgs I've received.
This may sound like a little nit-pickery going on but hell M$ has had a lot of time to get this minor detail right....

You can't be too surprised that MS half-assed this as they have half-assed every other Windows Mobile product for the last 5 years. MS doesn't care about Windows Mobile. Sad, but true.
I'm already messin with the ripped treo app again since it combines MMS/SMS together but the HTC Home Plugin shortcuts don't work after I install it..
Something simple so I'm gonna try another version of the htc today plugin and hope that it works..

I have a Wizard, but I think this will help you anyway.. You have to create a shortcut to \Windows\messagingapp.exe. I think currently, the HTC shortcuts (and even the button for me) was set to messaging.exe. After you create the shortcut for it and add it to your start menu, you should be able to map it to the button.

I Need Help Localing A Cab

Ok I have a tilt and a 8525. On my 8525 I have flash it with PV DVH BUILD19202. Alright now this rom has a missed call and mail(email, text) feature that I've never seen in a Kaiser rom. When you get a message you get a mail envelope icon and when there's a missed call there's a phone icon. What I like about it most is when you click on the mail it opens up big and its only that message that you see. I tried to run a search but when you don't know what there called it hard to find what your looking for. I would like to put on my tilt. Here are some screen shots
its ZoomSMS

Several questions didn't found yet...

Hello All,
I've been working a few days now with the TP2... wonderfull device... Since i also used the TP and Qtek 9100 this is really great device... i have though some minor things...
1. The size, it's pretty huge... my iPhone 3G is a bit bigger though... but it needs time... Nothing to do about it, just the way it is... ...
2. Another thing is, i have been using the TAB key on the TP external keyboard very often when typing... but the TP2 doesn't have it... I found an .REG update from a person in Norway saying he added FN+T as a TAB function, but that only adds a TAB in space, not jumping to the next field... Anyone any idea how to make a real TAB functionality...?
3. Opera, i've updated Opera to the newest beta, but when restarting the phone it keeps starting Opera... The newer Opera is slower in starting the application, but when running it's faster and more responsive... Also when i uninstall the Opera i installed, the old Opera is not working anymore... So my questions are... Where/how can i disable it (i've been in the registry and HTC's bootloader anywere but no Opera)...? and Where can i get the "pre-installed" CAB file...? So i can reinstall that CAB file...?
4. When using the HTC TouchFlo contacts they are sorted as "firstname lastname". No problem, but when i select the letter at the most right so i can jump to names with that corresponding letter. It jumps to a very not logic point. When i select the letter Z it jups to names starting with D somehow it jumps not far enough. I have the Dutch TP2... Anyone noticed the same...? Or anyone made a solution for it...?
Thanks in advance,
Michiel

i have the same problem too. went to HTC customer care and they were surprised by the issue too. told them to log a case to address this, hopefully they did.
I don't have this issue on mine - the "jumps" on the contact list are flawless.
As to the size, it's only longer and heavier than my Dopod D810 (Trinity) - the TP2 is actually both narrower and thinner, only by a very tiny margin.

I haven't tried it with a shorter contact list, since i have over 400 contacts. Anyway maybe it's just a bug with the Dutch version, maybe THKC can agree on that (don't know if he has the Dutch version too).

Hi I have found out that the up and down arrow keys will jump me into the next field like the tab keys do.

For comparison, I'm running WWE version and have over 400 entries, 600 if you count Windows Live contacts.
No problem here, have around 200 contacts and dutch stock rom.
