Download an 'update' from your operator's support website. If your phone won't boot enough so that it can connect via activesync then just use the bootloader method.
Read the WIKI page for all instructions http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Universal
Good luck!

try a hard reset first.
reset + left and right soft buttons i think

T-mobile Compact III crashed

Hi everyone.
I have been here a while for info, but I have not been able to find anything.
Maybe you can help me....
I just had my T-Mobile Compact III, before I had a Vario.
On my Vario I made backups with Spb Backup, and instead of selecting PARTIAL restore to my new Compact III (for address and my data), I accidently selected a FULL restore
Now my phone is frozen and will not boot in Windows anymore.
I have tried to flash another ROM into it, even the original one, but it cannot flash this because it is locked.
Then I bought the unlocked code on the web (the 20 pound one www.imei-check.co.uk) but for that to even work I need to have an AS connection.
I cannot get an AS connection because my phone will not boot into Windows anymore
Please can someone advise me on how to get my phone to boot again?
I can get into the bootloader, but I cannot flash it because it is still locked.
Your help is sooo much apprieciated!
Try a hard reset. If it does not work, there is a t mobile uk rom on ftp. d/l and flash to your device.
I have tried to search on this forum for a hard reset, but the only thing I can read is that it has to be done from within the phone itself?
I do not know how to hard reset this type of phone. please advise, so I can try this?
I have found the solution
The two softkeys (with the minus signs) need to be pressed, then softreset.
After that, everything works great!
Thank you.
Later today I will play with my unlock and upgrades.

When I start to flash the sync. is oke but when the bootloader screen appears the flashing stops and the PDA is not connected anymore.
Try to launch again your update while you're in bootloader mode...It should work !!

I just did it but when my device is in bootloader mode there is now
connection with my notebook (VISTA) anymore. When I restart my
PDA the connection is established.
there is a wiki guide to flashing under vista..
please note, that when you start the updater, and your device goes in to bootloader, it times out. So connection is lost. Simply start the update again, with device still connected in bootloader

Yes I did already as you describe the result is still no connection (error).
hmm... i think you're gonna have to use Pof's splxploit to load hard-spl and then flash another ROM from there.
It's a question of whether SPL 3.03 is exploitable in the same way...

Hello fellow developers. I am also happy (not) to say that I have bricked my O2 Stealth.
Has anybody been able to make any progress on debricking this phone using the JTAG method? I have two of these phones (one bricked) and I can confirm that on both phones there is evidence of test probing on the contacts marked with red ink shown in the previous post.
If these are the JTAG pins, is there any way of identifying which pin is which by probing with a multimeter and an oscilloscope?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Email me to get the bootloder and JTAG pins

O2 XDA Stealth JTAG pins
Thanks Slimli,
You are a champion !!! The photo of the JTAG pins made all the difference.
I then just simply followed the O2 Dead Boot tutorial that's floating around. I made up my own JTAG connector with odds and ends I found in the garage, and I replaced the EBO_a.nb0 file with the stealth bootloader you had also sent me. I now have Windows Mobile 6.5 running on my phone.
Once again, Thanks Slimli, you are a champion !!!!!!!!!!!

Now i have Ebo_a.NB0
and i have H-jtag program and i connect with my stealth via LPT port.
Which address or type to flash this file to my stealth ?
I followed instructions given here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=DeadBoot
These instructions can also be found here:
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=680669
I used the program in this package:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/RepairBootLoader.zip
Replace EBO_a.nb0 given in this package with the Stealth bootloader.
The addresses and flash type are set up in 'start.bat'. They also apply to the Stealth. Open a DOS shell in the same directory as 'start.bat' (which also has 'EBO_a.nb0'), and then at the DOS prompt, type 'run start'. The only tricky part is to get a good contact on the jtag pins. The rest was easy.
thank you

you installed a GSM rom.
you need to do more reading.
1) Reading would have told you the differences between the devices and would have informed you you need hte correct one for your device.
2) you're not the only one who has done this if you do a search you will find how to recover from this issue.
3) i cant stress enough to read first do later. it helps you prevent situations like this.
Thanks for your help
The instructions said it was for SPRINT CDMA devices, that is what I have- I have searched all through out these posts and cannot find out how to recover from this. Can you please help if you know how?

Just 2 questions I think this was a good example.
Where is the CDMA Rom page?
What ROM exactly did you install? (todaytoo)
ok...its not working
ok, im at the bootload screen...I can connect to active sync. I downloaded the CDMA ROM it came in .rar format I changed to it .exe at when i run the ROM it does not do anything....
ok, now its not connecting to activsync....
Is there a trick that im not doing?
renamed a .rar file to an .exe ...new to computing?
You need to unpack/extract the rar file, just like a zip file.
Use winrar, when extracted all the goodies will be revealed!
/Psudo
wow...dont know where my head was
ok, so i have extracted it correctly....my device will still not conntec to active sync...when i plug it in from the bootscreen it changes to USB but activesync cannot find the device....any suggestions
