WMA/MP3 as alarm? - P3600 ROM Development

I remember reading a while back that WM6 was going to allow the use of mp3s and WMA files as alarm tones....
This doesnt appear to be the case.... anyone been able to get these working?
thanks

mp3 works for me for reminders / notifications.
Alarms however don't see my mp3 files.
Tested under both mUn and LVSW.
Work around is to set an appointment or task with a reminder.

Xda11s Mp3 Ringtone Problem

I've managed to install the cab file onto my xda 11s ( also known as XDA III / MDA3 / PDA2K / SX66 / Qtek9090), which allows me to play mp3's as ringtones. The problem is, when i select the mp3 i want to use by holding the stylus on the screen and selecting 'set as ringtone', it is not selecting it. Can anyone give me any advice please?
I would suggest putting the mp3 file into \Windows\Rings or what ever folder you have changed it to..
If you were to do the above mentioned step, you would see the mp3 file in the drop down list when selecting what audio file to be used as ringtone.
cheers.
I've still never managed to get this working on WM2003.. does it really work?
I'm still using comparably chuncky .wav files :-(
-FM
it might depend on your ROM version. I have 1.40 ROMs & have no problem. unsure if 1.3x ROMs support mp3 ringtones
never worked for me with mp3s on 2003. I just coverted it to wma, and put it in the rings folder then selected it as a ring.

Ringtone problems on O2 xda2s

Hi all. Currently running an o2 (uk) xda2s but having trouble getting it to play any other ringtone than the "windows default"??. Have browsed these forums and others and have tried various fixes etc but with no luck, have converted the tones to both wav and mp3 placed them in the rings folder but when i select apply as ringtone it errors saying the ringtone could not be applied???
have used the add ringtone option in the system folder and the tones show in the list, have ticked the boxes but they do not show in the dropdown box in the sounds and notifications options box?. Phone works fine except for this annoying problem, running the last o2 rom that was posted on the official o2 xda website
hope someone can help and sorry if its been asked before
I had the same problem
but once I upgarded to wm5 helmis latest ROM, its fine for me
so you can even upgarde, and the latest version is fast and very nice
Had just the same problem, tried placing the file all over the place, finally worked when I placed it in \windows\rings. I then went to Settings/Phone/Ring tone: and there it was and it played ... all 4.5MB with no apparent requirement to shorten file name (05-the_pogues-metropolis-jaffa.mp3).
I used to get the different problem about Cannot set MP3 as ringtone.
But after Hard Reset it work again.
May youtry to hard reset first before UP-ROM
It works on my XDAiis perfect. You have to options:
1: put your mp3 file in windows/rings
2. Keep your stylus on the mp3 song for a while and choose:set as ringtone

Ringtones for SMS/alarms and more...

Hello, all!
I have some troubles with customization of SMS/alarm sounds.
- What kind of WAV format they should be? I converted MP3 files to WAV format, copied them to \Windows directory. I can see new files from alarm dialog but when I press play button, sound does not play and reseted to Default.
- Can I place this kind of sound on the card somewhere?
- Is there some way to set my custom sound to SMS notification? I fill it's stiupid question, looked on HTC's web-site FAQ, but I cann't find whre is it...
- Is it possible to disable auto synchronization with ActiveSync? Each time I connect the device to USB ActiveSync automatically raised and starts synchronization. But sometimes, I want to copy number of files to the devies only and sync does this process very slow. How can I disable automatic synchronization, so synchronization will start on Sync button pressed only?
Thanks to all for your help

Audio Manager Question

I have my music on my storage card in (dun dun dunnnn) My Documents\My Music. Each artist has a folder and in those folders are the albums. In the albums I have cover art. Not all of it is showing when the songs are played....what's up with that?
Oh and I do so love lumping to inquiries into one thread so here goes! I cannot beam using this ROM. My fiancee has a Dash at the T-Mobile (USA) standard ROM. I wanted to beam calendar appointments between the phone but the two cannot see each other unless Bluetooth is on and even then "beaming" fails. I noticed that her phone has "Beam" in the Connections Manager whereas my phone does not...

1. Could be due the album art not being in the song, not sure ghow it reads but think they need to be id3 taged with album art "Someone will have better answer than me as it doesn't bother me but know that the ones of mine that show have been id3 taged with album art"
2. Does she have the allow incoming beams activated, different than having the device visible..
1. Album art should be in the format COVER.JPG then nearly all media players will display it (wm media player sometimes does not show art due to it being complete crap)
2. Beam is simply bluetooth. Both units have to have bluetooth on and be set to allow incoming files.
OK cool. Thanks for the answers. Bluetooth was on for both phones at the time. I looked through the settings and didn't see anything that would amount to being visible but not allowing incoming data so I will look again. It's not too much of an issue. She keeps me updated anyway.

TP2 Music app doesn`t play in track order!

Just been syncing some music to my TP2 and, rather annoyingly, the HTC music player will not play in track number order!!
If I use windows media player, the tracks play in their correct order.
Anyone else seen this - or got a solution??
Are you using .m4a (AAC) files from iTunes? If so, my Touch Pro (raphael) does exactly the same thing. I find it so annoying too. Real shame to hear that HTC still can't even get this one simple thing right. Search the forums, there are various posts about it here and there, though as yet I don't think anyone has worked out a way around the problem - do have a look for yourself though as I gave up searching a few months ago ; )

Come on HTC - this is terrible!
My source music is wma lossless, and the sync process transcodes it into 192K WMA files on the phone.
Can`t believe this is a long standing bug!! V poor!!
just disavble any crappy "transcoding" in activesync - you don't need it.

I cant do that - my source files are *lossless* - that means file sizes of around 40mb per track!!!!

I have the same problem. I'm use the same songs from my fuze and the fuze loaded them right
anyone found a fix for this yet?
My source files are also lossless wma and the sync transcodes them to 128kb/s wma and I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to convince some HTC tech support guy that this is actually happening. I'm about ready to pull my hair out, this guy will not admit even the possibility of this happening. He keeps coming up with yet another thing to try or another reason that it is my fault.
I'm OK with the occasional bug in SW. Just as long as the company acknowledges it and works to fix it but when they go to this much trouble to avoid even acknowledging it ...
S
i had been looking for a fix to this issue for a very long time, until i found out that the problem is caused (in my case) by
1) windows media player not saving the track numbers correctly into the files
2) touch flow only looking in the "right" place for the track information, which is not the place where wm player stores it
my solution:
1) download mp3tag (freeware app)
2) put all tracks of album you want to fix into the program
3) select all tracks and re-save the tag information (you don't have to change anything, the program just saves the information that is in the audio file "somewhere" into the right place)
4) place the fixed files on your phone again
easy fix....use coreplayer
I never liked the way WMP or the native media player handled files, etc. Coreplayer has been such a better experience!
