I use weatherpanel and no issues at all, works like a charm on my Trinity .
cheers

i see the HTC Touch is running WM6 Pro, so is this interface just a program or a today plugin of sorts?
i hope someone can extract this!

Oh boy Oh boy oh Boy .... more goodies for the trinity!
Weather pannel looks nice as does the clock.
Is the touch screen special? or can we have the "finger scroll" on the trinity?
It bites that it is not a 3G phone....I like the size and it appears to be that rubber coating. I wonder if that peals as well! lol
3G, GPS, Wifi, Bluetooth, Processor power -- not many out with that besides the trinity (Athena is too big)

soft or hard?
I'm curious to know if the TouchFLO technology is software or hardware. Please get this running on my Trinity soon ...
I wouldn't trade my 400Mhz HSDPA GPS enabled phone for the HTC Touch just because of the UI....

Processing power sucks for the Trinity. The Samsung CPU isn't that great IMO. Compares to an Intel 520? LOL, yeah right.

It this new htc gps avaliable?

Here's a review from the leader ppc italian site:
http://www.solopalmari.com/english-contents/htc-touch-review.html
let's hope we can have this new technology on our trinities

Here is a really good and comparitively short review of the HTC touch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gj8PMcvYTZo&eurl=http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/htc_touch/
It seems that its really good at some points but at some points its not good. (lol, what did I just say)

I think we can't compare two processor using its frequency. Just look at Intel and AMD.

My guess would be that the TouchFLO is just software, it would be used instead of a today screen but I think that the issues with the increase in CPU usage when the touch screen is used on the Trinity may make it a bit slow

HTC Touch ROM
It looks like someone has dumped the HTC Touch ROM (or is in the process of doing so) ... check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310624
I hope someone can try and port it over to our trinity

@hollandg
u are wrong. TouchFLO is software that related to touch driver. And we have another kind of that driver on our trin.

What will be your next handheld???

For a span of 4 years I have owned a few handheld devices namely:
in chronological oreder:
HP RX 3715
FS Loox 720
FS Loox N560
Imate Jam
Treo 650
and the Artemis
I like the inbuilt keyboard of the Treo 650, I also like the VGA screen and fast processor of the N560 but the GPS sucks, and I like the OS stability (though still not perfect) and the quick GPS reception of the Artemis.
I like the single hand operability of the Treo 650.
Im getting sick and tired of using the stylus on my Artemis. You cant really use single hand comfortably.
Now Im looking for an upgrade. Something that combines all what I like.
The Kaiser doesnt get my attention due to the fact thats its very bulky. I dont like the sliding Keyboard.
Treo 750 doesnt have WiFi so its not worth it for me.
Polaris is also out of my wish list.
So to sum it all up, what Im looking for with my next handheld is:
1. fast processor at least 400mhz
2. inbuilt GPS and WiFi
3. big ram and rom
4. inbuilt keyboard like the treo
5. VGA screen
6. high megapixel camera
When will HTC answer my prayers???
If only Treo 750 had GPS and WiFi it will be the ultimate handheld for me.
And what will be your next handheld??? Yes you... I know you want an upgrade... I just know it.
touch cruse
vga screen can be a pile of problems with older apps/games and the likes
the treo 750 is slightly bigger then the kaiser. if the 30g make a big difference, i'm not so sure. i ordered my kaiser already, i will get it on monday...
it looks like this is what Im looking for:
http://www.expansys.com/zoompic.aspx?type=item&i=158759
Kaiser...just auctioned...
but in batterylife i think it's hard to top our Artemis, don't you think ?

In my own personal opinion, OUR ARTEMIS is the best PDA at the moment! And I have decided to keep it until I find the perfect one for me. That is if the Treo 750 will be upgraded with GPS and WiFi. Or if HTC makes another Artemis with a Treo Keyboard (aka Thumb board) then thats a no brainer for me.
there are three things i really don't like with Artemis: USB1, no keyboard and camera, everything else is ok imo.
Sometimes a faster cpu would be nice, but this will drain batterylife for sure...
i'll post my expirience with my Kaiser when i get it next week...
what about the 02 XDA Stellar?

I dont mind USB1, and the camera, its there but its unusably crap anyway. My nokia N70s camnera is better.
If only the Artemis had a keyboard and faster processor it will be a keeper.
Anyway Goodluck woth your coming Kaiser...btw have read about the video playback that Kaiser owners complain about???

i like the external access to my storagecard, this is really convenient, also the keyboard on kaiser - i love it, specially the material it is made of...
Yes, i heard about the video issue - just tried to watch 30 minutes movie with tcpmp - imo no problem. so far i can live with it. The camera is great if you're using it with daylight - autofocus is working very well..but if it is dark, it's again not really usable...
if your comparing artemis and kaiser in weight - the first time you'll be shocked, it's really heavy compared with Artemis (specially the battery)
the only real issue is batterylife as expected....first it was only one day! using gps only with batterypower uses a lot of power
now i flashed another rom and radio rom, it's two days, maximum.
the speed, camera, (ok, speed & camera comes with Polaris) and keyboard of kaiser with the batterylife of artemis - this would be a great device
Hi Pete
Nice to hear youre happy with your brand new toy.
For me, Ill keep the Artemis (this is the best PDA I ever owned so far) for long until something comes out that will really make my heart thump and say GET THAT ONE!
Cheers!!!
Hi ya,
yes i'm happy - but selling my artemis ? NO WAY !
Cheers

Why is the HD much faster then the Diamond

i just had a chance to play with the HTC HD that had a stock ROM with a lot of applications installed. i was really shocked on how much snappier the device compared to the diamond and touch pro (same 288MB RAM). the specs are almost identical this shouldnt be the case especially when you consider that the HD's cpu has %25 more pixels to worry about. i doubt that the extra 96MB HD has is to blame.
is htc going to pull another TYTN II graphics driver fiasco again?
perhaps some of of the cookers that cooked on both devices(e.g. dutty & panosha) can shed some light on the subject. or better yet, attempt to cook new diamond ROMs that bridge the performance gap between the two devices.
HD ROMS
there are hd ported roms on here...just have a look
just find them and ask the chef in there thread
you could start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=438313
i dont have any of these devices i was just surprised on how mach faster the stock HD rom to my friends diamond (dutty 3.4)
so are you saying that the HD ported roms are as fast as the real thing? i sure hope so? i'll let my friend upgrade and see how much faster it gets
thanks
yes they are much faster as the stock diamond roms.
yes they are beter
than a stock rom that comes with a diamond
No comment
I have a HD ROM on my Diam and I can confirm that a friend's HD is still faster, though there is a smaller gap.
But TF3D on that is faster and smoother. Maybe some of the tabs need to be perfected for VGA res? I don't know...

System RAM will make a difference. Yes its not much but have to consider this is a pocket device not a PC. Also specs might be similar but the mainboard is different and may be better optimized for the components than the touch - pro
It could also be because of the effect of the bigger screen. Seeing the same thing on a bigger screen will give the impression thats its faster.
system ram make big difference...just look at new 2.00 rom eats more ram and system is so much faster...
Touch sensor
I remember I read it somewhere said the HTC HD has new touch sensor technology that make it very close to iphone on touch response.
someone probably needs to get to the bottom of this. the memory is not the only thing thats causing this. the touch pro has more memory and is clearly slower than the hd. the video benchmarks shows a big gap between the devices
The HD has more RAM then the diamonds and also has some of the ram allocated to processing (at least 32MB) - perhaps this is why the HD is slightly faster.

dash 3g

i know their was an old thread about the snap device but i just wanted to update with the news i saw on allshadow.
http://www.allshadow.com/2009/06/05/major-t-mobile-smartphone-lineup-update-adds-netbooks-as-well/
"The Dash 3G — T-Mobile’s version of the Snap — is lined up for 7/1, but it’ll be shipped to retail partners (think Best Buy Mobile and the like) on 6/26."
im excited about this cause my contract is up in november, not looking to get rid of my dash(s) but just to see what it will bring to the rom developing in this section of xda.
can anyone else confirm that date to be final?
I heard about 7/1 also but you know how these carriers like to drag it out...ahem BB Bold. Well just have to wait and see.
yea i know tmobile has been posting coming soon phones lately and i keep waiting to see it on there

I have to go !
I'm working now with the Snap for 2 days.
The new futures are great: Inner Circle, Google Maps, (video) Camera, etc..
The incall sound is much better, trackball works fine.
Free memory: 76MB !
Radio signal is not so good as as the latest Radio for the Excalibur.
I don't know if I can flash the phone with another radio.
Thirst I want to have the original rom on my PC.
First impression: great phone !

i tried inner circle and really wasnt that impressed with it, just not my taste. having a trackball on a WM device seems like it would be weird.
how does the device respond, with the faster cpu and more ram/rom? (compared to say the energy rom)

As you see, the S620 with Kavana's rom is my first phone. And believe me, tried every rom you can find on the internet. For me, this is the fastest rom..
Even so fast as the Snap.
Made a lot of registry tweaks and like this phone very much.
I'm working now with these two phones together. Lets see which one wins..

Touch Pro 2 or Diamond

Hello all -
I would like to know your option about the Touch Pro 2. Actually I've a Diamond and I really like it, but I'll replace it by Touch Pro 2.
What do you think about it? Is a good change? Have you did it before?
Thank you.
I went from the Diamond to the Touch Pro2. No regrets. The screensize, hardware keyboard, and performance destroys the Diamond.
But at this moment, you really have to consider the HD2. Also, with Windows Mobile 7 right around the corner, should people even still buy Windows Phones right now?
Tks ohyeahar!
When the WM7 will be ready? Will be possible to use the WM7 on the TP2.
I'll take a look the HD2.
Just another quick question:
How about the baterie performance using 3G all time?
Tks.
Go for Rhodium definitely! it´s a great device!
Of course if you are looking for a hardware keyboard upgrade, if not better to go for Diamond 2...
Orb, I'm not even sure the Diamond II is a good option... My dad has got one while I have the Rhodium. I upgraded from the original Diamond, & as someone already mentionned it, both the Diamond II & TP II blow the Diamond away.
Now, having played with the HD2 already, and being impressed by its speed, I would recommend that on too. But only if you got a pocket large enough for tht 4.3' screen, and if no keyboard suites you well.
If you want a keyboard, TP II, hands down. Hell, I wouldn't hesitate bying it full price again if god forbid, it was stolen. If you don't want a keyboard, HD2. Don't even bother with the Diamond II.

Battery performance is better than the Diamond. It's probably on bar with the official extended battery of the Diamond.

Rhodium or OmniaPro?

Greetings,
As the title says,
Some of the main Advantages of OmniaPro are 800Mhz CPU, AMOLED display, 5MB Camera (With Flash), 3.5mm audio jack
Some Disadvantages are it has 3.5" Screen (Rhodium has 3.6"), 4 rows QWERTY Keyboard (Rhodium has 5 rows).
TouchWiz (OmniaPro) or TouchFlo/Sense (Rhodium), .. not sure which is better
Price (in UK pounds):
OmniaPro: £291.49 exc VAT
Rhodium: £379.48 exc VAT (Why is it more expensive while specs are clearly less?)
in terms of Hardware specs, .. i dont think someone could argue that Rhodium is better than OmniaPro.
I want your opinions on:
- Which one is better? and why?
- Why do you think that OmniaPro is a lot cheaper than Rhodium although it obviously packs better specs?
touchwiz = blah(imo)...
htc=greatest smartphone company(imo)...
Processor speed isn't all of it, flash on a camera is useless, tp2 has 3.5mm audiojack on some models... Only true advantage of the omniapro is the amoled screen.
tp2 can also utilize the new 7.2mbps networking which omniapro cant.
Again...

If the keyboard really is important, get the Rhodium. It is not only the 5 rows, it is the keyshape and spacing. For multimedia the Omnia pro should be better. I also saw some reports that the screen of the Omnia Pro is extremely soft and even a fingernail can scratch it. So you would need some really good protection. Sense is a much better interface, but I am sure it could be ported.

Hmm thanks for the input, yeah the layout of the keys in Rhodium seems a lot more type-friendly. and from videos, .. Oddly, the screen of Rhodium does seem crispier than the AMOLED of OmniaPro
and what do you guys think about the price difference? price/specs ratio of OmniaPro seems interesting compared to the Rhodium.
and why isnt there a section for Samsung windows mobiles here in the forums? i mean XDA is not for HTC only right? Sony Ericsson is there, why not Samsung?
lots of questions
i'll answer the Sony Ericsson for u Irkan, i use to have one right before the bloody keyboard gave up on me
The Xperia was a collaboration between Htc and SE. Basically Htc made the device. Hell, it even have the Htc quickgps and task manager on it. Even the hardSPL is the same as HTC. We could safely say that the Xperia X1 is still a "brother" to all the htc device.
As for the site, yes XDA only supported htc devices, even X2 isn't gonna be here. Thats why i chose the rhodium
I am less Impressed ...
Ok, .. i see .. thanx for the input, that makes sense now
I have read 2 major reviews about the OmniaPro, .. although the hardware specs are hardcore, .. the TouchWiz (Widgets UI) seems to be sluggish regardless of the hardware sepcs.
in terms of the UI performance the Sense seems to be way better than the Widgets UI. If 800Mhz Processor is not enough for there UI than what is the use of it? .. i was expecting that with the processor power i would enjoy the TouchWiz UI smoothly and that the menus will be flying around, ... unfortunately from reading the 2 major reviews, .. that is not the case
The reviews also reported that the keyboard does not register the key press smoothly when typing fast, and you have to be careful and firm when typing .. kindda ruins the purpose of having full QWERTY keyboard.
The camera is said to be mediocre, .. the colours are a little dull, but sharp.
Lets just say that i am less impressed by the OmniaPro than when i started this thread ..
to me the main advantage of the rhodium is that the screen TILTS!!!

You can probably turn the TouchWiz UI off if it is really that sluggish. You might even be able to get Sense on it. Keep that in mind.

I can turn it off, .. and will be stuck to WM screen ... that kindda ruins the purpose of buying it in the first place.
I like TouchWiz (the idea of it) but lots of reports shows that many times it tends to lag alot, i even saw some videos on how bad it was (and it was bad)
I have seen TouchFlo 1.6 (or some previous version) being ported to the OmniaPro, reports shows that it drains lots of battery power, and the experience is not smooth at all, and when i went to check the forum that made that port, they stopped supporting Sense porting to OmniaPro B7610 (the one that has the keyboard which is similar to Rhodium) and only continued with the full touch screens (they are trying to port everything in HD2 to Omnia2 or something, so they couldnt care less about OmniaPro with the keyboard)
I asked the same question in some forum that reviewed the the OmniaPro B7610
and here is a reply for my inquiry from one of the users that have the OmniaPro
I would go for the HTC touch pro2. I bought the Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 and it’s the worst windows mobile phone I’ve ever had, slower than my old HTC P3300 and my imate Ultimate 9502. TouchWiz is very slow! You have to switch it off. The screen is very fragile, it’s easily scratched by the stylus. The in call sound is not that loud, the keyboard is ok but not excellent, etc.
